Ambiance is beautiful seating area and their private rooms are very nice for you to bring guests you want to impress . The service staff is especially attentive and friendly like the led badges that they wear , bold and in your face . Food served in such a setting will taste better for sure . Strip away the fancy decor and black uniformed staff, and the theatrics of table side duck carvings , the food would be like anything you could get in a Chinatown in Monterey Park . If eating is a total experience for you then this place is satisfied the hype . You but you may gripe if awesome tasting food is your type .

Had a great experience at Taste of Chang'an in Tustin! Nice ambiance! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. My favorite dish was definitely the Peking duck -- so flavorful and perfectly done. Highly recommend! Tustin 的品味长安体验很好!低调的奢华设计~服务很不错,食物也很好吃。最喜欢他们家的烤鸭,味道特别棒!很推荐!

Absolutely loved this place. We came for the Peking duck and it did not disappoint. The tableside flaming presentation was such a fun touch. The duck skin was thin, delicate, and perfectly crispy, while the meat was tender and juicy. Rolling it in the crepes with the condiments was perfection. They recommended pairing the crispy skin with brown sugar and it was honestly so good. The smoked duck was insanely good on its own. Everything else we tried was great too. The okra dish was really tasty and beautifully plated. The wonton soup was light and delicate, and the golden fish soup was straight fire. The Szechuan beef tasted very authentic with the right amount of heat, and the crispy shrimp was a standout. We ended with dessert and it was worth the wait of 30 mins. The peppercorn ice cream was unique and delicious, and the red bean cake (which takes about 30 minutes) was excellent. We loved all the desserts and every entrée we ordered. Definitely a place we'd come back to.

This was a very fancy and different experience. The service was fast and the waiter gave good recommendations and answered any questions I had. I came here for a birthday dinner and was very satisfied with my experience. The table-side duck you have to call ahead to have and it was delectable. The crispy skin was crunchy and dipped in the sugar was perfect. The duck was tender and went well with all the toppings. The noodles were chewy and were not too spicy. The tea was in this beautiful pot and had unlimited refills. The only downside is that this place was very pricy, but good for special occasions/date nights.

Had came here to celebrate my birthday and what an experience! The ambiance was very modern and had an upscale feel. The service was great and everyone was very welcoming. The table side duck was impressive and our party enjoyed it a lot. The presentation of the food was beautiful and everything tasted great and flavorful. Best part was definitely the crispy duck skin with the brown sugar. The table side duck is reservation only so be sure to call ahead. On top of that the leftover duck can be made in a soup for extra charge or another dish I forget. We did add the soup and it was good as well. The staff was so nice, instead of dessert for birthdays, they gave me a complimentary bowl of noodle that signifies longevity in their culture. I was definitely surprised and very thankful. It was a very nice dining experience!

Guokui pita

Chang'an opened up around the end of the COVID era, and I've been coming here on and off for a few years. One thing I really enjoy about this place is the unique architecture, which is beautiful and elegant while still fitting the contemporary feel of the restaurant. The food quality is always top-notch and the service has consistently been excellent. This restaurant is my go-to spot for authentic high-end Shaanxi cuisine. I came this time with my family for lunch, and the space was fairly empty at this hour so we were seated quickly. Menus were brought over along with a complimentary plate of guokui pita, which is always a nice touch. Every dish we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted just as great as I remembered. I especially recommend the crispy pork ribs, the pork belly sliders, and the lamb stew with pita, which are all regional specialties you don't see often. Their duck specialty is also amazing, but you need to reserve it in advance. It is carved and served table-side, which adds to the experience. If I had to point out one drawback, it would be the size of the tables. The plates here are quite large, and the small round tables can only comfortably fit about three dishes at once. As a result, you either have to eat fairly quickly or constantly move plates around to make space. But this isn't an issue at their larger rectangular tables. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for truly authentic and upscale Chinese cuisine. You will not find your typical orange chicken here. Overall, it's an excellent restaurant, though it is on the pricier side. Everything is served family-style, and you should be prepared to spend around 100-150 dollars per person.

The service here was incredible. People here are so nice. The decor is fancy and I love the ambiance. It's classy and they have custom made chopstick rests that I love. Roast duck: 9/10. But 10/10 for the experience of them setting the duck on fire. They set it on fire before taking it back to carve it into separate ways to experience it - one with the duck skin, one with the duck meat, and another optional added cost for soup. Lotus root: 8/10. Fun experience since they use carbon to give off a foggy effect. Short rib: 8/10. Very flavorful and tender. I love the presentation of having it with the giant bone. Braised short rib with quail eggs: 7/10. Succulent but maybe a bit too fatty. Spring pea shoots: 7/10. Good and necessary but a bit too oily and portion was small. Soup with shrimp dumplings: 6/10. Nothing standout. Some people in our group didn't like it. Noodles: 7/10. Good but small portion. Flavor is okay. Dessert soup tang yuan: 7/10. Small and pricey but still good. Overall, everything was good but with the prices, I admit it's hard to come back here. Still, the experience was excellent.

It was our first time at Chang'An, and we're officially in love. We ordered the Duck with the Fire Show, and it was incredible. The meat was tender, full of flavor, and the presentation was so fun to watch. My little boys couldn't get enough of the Peking Duck and were so sad we could only order one per table. The crispy duck skin with a little sugar was such a treat. We also ordered the crispy beef tongue, and it was surprisingly delicious. It was nice watching my boys enjoy such a delicacy, lol. The vibe is beautiful and classy, and the service was amazing. We didn't even tell them it was my husband's birthday because he likes to keep things low-key, but they surprised us with longevity noodles anyway. It was such a sweet and thoughtful touch that really made our night. Honestly, this place feels like an elevated Chinese dining experience right in the heart of Orange County. We can't wait to come back.

Charcoal tofu. Very flavorful and striking dish.

I really enjoy Chang'an. I've been here at least 3-4 times and haven't been disappointed yet. Caveat: Vegan / Vegetarian eater here. Yes. It's a pricey Chinese restaurant. But, you know this fact before you come here if you've looked at the $$$$ on Yelp. I thinks it's unfair, therefore, to dock stars based on price. I'd rather pay more once in awhile while, especially for special occasions, to enjoy a quiet, full-service, and inventive meal than to save a few bucks and go to your dime-a-dozen Chinese restaurant that is loud, dirty, and crowded. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent. Friendly, professional, and attentive staff with digital name tags move efficiently and courteously to make your meal a dining experience - rearranging serving utensils, taking away empty plates, refreshing your tea, and checking in on your comfort. They serve a complimentary Chinese flat bread paired with peanuts, a spicy sauce, and pickled celtuce stems. Seasonal, rotating menu keeps the food interesting. I'm always impressed by their great vegan options. Complements to the chef and kitchen for creating unique dishes each with distinct flavors and beautiful presentation. Good choice of desserts too, though less vegan options here. Wonderful selection of quality teas. Love this restaurant! Will keep coming here and can't understand why it has such low ratings. Totally disagree.

Duck wonton soup

This place is definitely a break the bank restaurant or a special occasion place unless you're balling. All the entrees are around $40+. We came here for the flaming duck (must make a reservation for it) which is roughly $140. This itself was pretty worth it imo. They light the entire duck on fire for you then they cut it into bite size pieces. They cut half and then they smoke the other half which i thought was really good! Other entrees we ordered crispy squab - 1/5, pretty lackluster compared to the duck. $50 for 1 squab, bits of it were dry. never again. charcoal tofu - 3/5 pretty good but it's just fried tofu that they made black duck wonton soup- 2/5 - soup itself was bland and could only taste the cilantro, the duck wontons were good though green chili chicken w/ hand pulled noodles 4/5 - worth getting again. Good spice on the entree and the noodles had a great que que to it. spicy chicken cubes 3/5 - probably one of the best i've had, the chicken cubes were a lot longer/bigger, but for the price it was not double the quality of other restaurant versions of this. The service was hit and miss during the night. I flagged down two people to order and then right around when our duck was going to be served someone came to take our order. Towards the end of the night it got better and they took our dishes away to box it up for us.

Jeslyn L.

The food was cooked great! It is more on the expensive end but it was worth it. We ordered a Peking duck which was cooked many different ways. We had some that was burned in fire, smoked, and some that was just steamed. The truffle sea cucumber dish was also very delicious. I also recommend the soup which is savory and perfectly seasoned.

Luckily we were seated within 15 min. I love the vibes here. It's a bit loud, but you can still have a conversation. They have a large indoor area and a nice bar. Everything is kept clean. Service: Thank you Mia for taking care of us! She's very attentive, and throughput was surprisingly quick & efficient despite how busy it was. She also checked on us multiple times and refilled our waters. Food & drinks: We absolutely enjoyed everything! Safe to say the hype is real. 1) Curry Crab Omelette - This is my favorite dish. This was presented on a small skillet with rice in a separate bowl. The omelette was drenched in curry. The curry was seasoned well, semi thick consistency, with a hint of spice. 2) Vietnamese Shaken Beef (one w/ garlic noodles & one w/ rice) - I personally prefer the shaken beef at Vox. For whatever reason, the beef seemed to be overcooked bc it was very chewy. The vegetables tasted as expected, and the red rice was really delicious. The garlic noodles were good. 3) Lemongrass Tofu - The tofu was cooked well and seasoned deliciously. 4) 5-Spice Roasted Chicken - Exactly what the description says. The roasted chicken was huge. We weren't sure exactly what it was seasoned with, but we all devoured it. Yum! 5) Lychee Milk Punch - It's not dinner without alcohol. I thought it was pretty strong with the rum & whiskey. It's more on the sweeter end from the lychee & pineapple. The foam wasn't too thick, and it paired well with the drink. Pricing: These are elevated prices. We'll definitely be back for dinner, and we can't wait to try their brunch. Highly recommend joining the Kei Rewards!

(2/5) Golden prime beef noodle soup I'm sorry but this was just not for my taste at all I can't even describe what flavor the soup was something I have never had before very unique. The noodles were nice and chewy but again I'm expecting soup to be hot but it just came out warm. (1/5) They had some sauce and chili oil on the table and I made a mix but it did not help add flavor to any of the items. I ordered too much and the leftover beef rolls and pan fried dumplings reheated well in the air fryer.

Leaving this review after an almost bad experience to help the restaurant or anyone else that may…read morehave eaten here today. 5 stars for fixing the problem immediately for us. We've been here several times before and what keeps us coming back is the quality of the food. Today, they had a new chef cook our food and it was terrible. Green beans were extremely sour (way way too much vinegar). Mapo Tofu had a ton of oil but not enough sauce, so it was just flavorless except the oil. The fried pork chop was over fried where some pieces you can't even bite through. The rice had too much water in it and was mushy. I rarely return food but this time it was so bad we had to let them know. We returned all of our dishes back to them. They let us know there was a new chef today, and they would remake all the dishes for us with the original chef. The replacement dishes were just as good as all our previous visits and it was excellent again! So thanks to the staff for fixing the problem. I'm not sure if they are training a new chef to take over, or as a backup, but they need to be careful as serving bad quality food like that would drive most people to never come back. We knew the food was good from prior experience, so we knew we could ask why the food quality changed. For first time customers, or those that may have ordered to go - if you had bad food today, it may have been a fluke due to the new chef. Service however was a amazing as usual. For all our visits including today, the staff has been kind and always looking for ways to help out and make sure we were having a good experience. So besides the food being good, I would say excellent service is also huge plus here. Don't be fooled with the automated ordering and robot delivering the food into thinking there is no service. The people behind the counter are awesome! Hope management takes care of this new chef issue quickly since their food quality is the main reason people come here. There was a night and day difference between the original food we got today, and the replacement!

Modern Chinese, Ancient Disappointment…read more EverSpring looks great, sounds great, and is priced like it plans to deliver something memorable. Unfortunately, what I'll remember most is how quickly my excitement turned into polite disappointment. The salt and pepper pork chops were...bold. And by bold I mean shockingly salty, like the chef was trying to preserve them for winter. I've had salt and pepper chops more times than I can count, and this version tasted nothing like any of them. Overcooked, oddly flavored, and just completely off. If this was a creative interpretation, creativity may have gone a step too far. Then there was the crispy beef. I say this with sincerity: it was inedible. Not "I'm picky" inedible--burned-breading-that-tastes-like-toasted-mistakes inedible. Each bite delivered a charming note of scorched regret, like someone deep-fried a crouton and called it a day. I stopped eating not because I was full, but because my taste buds filed an HR complaint. And look, if this were cheap comfort food, I'd shrug it off. But this is sit-up-straight-when-the-bill-arrives pricing. For what we paid, I expected at least one dish to make me say, "Okay, this works." That moment never came. The concept is solid, but the food just didn't deliver. I wanted to love it. My taste buds, however, requested an early exit. Everything went to the trash can. Never again.

Spicy Beef Udon here is the best I have tasted. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu…read more Handmade noodles, authentic seasoning, bursting with flavor. There will always be a long wait and for good reason. A must try if you are in the area.

if you know me you know that meiji is my favorite udon spot in oc. a bit ago they opened a sister…read morerestaurant in tustin so i finally got to check it out! it had a lot of the same items as meiji seimen but with more. it was still delicious but i will say i still prefer the costa mesa spot more, personally! parking gets pretty busy but it's free! Shrimp Tempura for this price you get 5 pieces of tempura accompanied with the tempura dipping sauce. the tempura is perfectly crisp and flakey while staying soft inside! Tuna Roll simple, fresh and clean, this 6 piece roll was not too filling but acted as a nice add on to our appetizer. Spicy Beef Udon served in a boiling hot pot, this udon is spicy, hot and sizzling. the standard level of spice is free but to make it spicier there is an additional fee. the flavors of this udon were delicious and i liked the greens that came in it. there wasn't much beef inside and due to the sizzling pot my noodles got really soft faster than i could eat them. it also comes with a cheesy rice ball on the side that you're supposed to mix into your soup once you've finished the noodles. i personally didn't love it. i felt like it didn't really match the flavor of the soup and the outer crust of the ball was way too hard and crunchy for my liking, but my boyfriend thought it tasted good together so to each their own. Cold Spicy Egg and Tororo Tsukemen if you're a fan of the cold, dip ramen (tsukemen), then this dish is for you! the cold noodles are served perfectly chewy and al dente and it pairs well with the egg and tororo dip. the boy added a side of meat for an additional charge because it isn't served with any on its own!
