So many good things about this place! I love the pet friendly patio seating. The patio is large and easy to navigate through. The chicken is always juicy and full of flavor and the French fries are always hot and crispy one the outside, smooth on the inside. Whatever they use to coat their fries is flavorful and goes perfect with their Champy's sauce. I've also eaten their catfish and it was good, but chicken is where it's at here. Sharing a 40oz with a friend is a great refreshment for those hot days. The service has always been quick and punctual and their prices are fair. After visiting this restaurant a few times, I've noticed something different every time. The food is good - always fresh. However, there are minimal options available for people who do not eat meat, whereas other restaurants have other options available. Another thing I noticed was the lack of diversity in the restaurant. Since their statement is "Blues, Brews and Bird" it seems like it attracts a certain crowd of people that are older and all of the same demographic. This used to be the old Hooters bar in Murfreesboro and definitely has a certain patena about it. The floors are worn, the bar a bit sketchy, but honestly that's part of the appeal of this place. Its very homey and you can come as you are and enjoy yourself. We have not eaten-in and always get the 8 piece family pack with mashed potatoes and gravy and Mac and Cheese. We have also had the fried pickles which are a spear instead of a slice and very delicious. A word of caution, eat the order of pickles up that night as they get gross in the fridge overnight. The chicken, on the other hand, does keep great in the refrigerator and comes in a brown paper sack on top of sliced bread to absorb the grease from cooking. Unlike KFC, Bojangles, and Popeyes the chicken has just the right amount of salt. The seasonings on the chicken and the overall crispness and flavor make it a hit at our house! Also unlike the other fried chicken places, leftovers rarely last a day whereas with the others leftovers typically go to waste. The gravy for the mashed potatoes is delicious and a hit with the family. They don't serve biscuits with the family meal, and it's more expensive than the competition. But if you are happy to pay 15 dollars for two sandwich meals at Chick Fillet. I think 8 pieces, and two sides for about 30 is a pretty good deal especially if it all gets eaten up - which it does. The best tip I can offer is to stick with the family meal and available included sides. If you go with appetizers you can expect to rack up the bill quickly as each one is about 10 bucks. Okay folks.... I was very excited watching Champys come to fruition here in Murfreesboro! I finally got there for lunch today. I have to say, impressed i wasn't. First and foremost, the sweet, young lady that was my waitress did an outstanding job. The food and overall experience was ok. The value simply wasnt there for me. It was over market value, especially in relation to the commercial corridor in which the restaurant lies. It would have helped in my decision on this review if more food were on the plate and drinks/food wasnt served in styrofoam with plastic utensils. "More food" however, is not what this society needs nor what i want. It was almost enough food. Just too high priced. I felt the urge to reduce or even not leave a tip because of the meal price. How could i hold the young lady that provided excellent service responsible? I couldn't. A waitress' pay is low enough. They rely on their tips heavily! I have concern that the general public will not feel the same, due to income restrictions/lack of disposeable income, which i totally understand. Its not fair for the wait staff though. So the answer is........ My catfish plate was $12. I had water to drink, left a $3.00 tip, + tax, and it came to $16.10...... If I'd had a drink it'd have been way too close to the $20 mark. Managment; You may/may not survive, but you will not prosper. You are not on a prime commercial corridor and thefore cannot charge as if you are... especially when the food is not equal in value to the cost. That is a steak house chain price.... I could have eaten at Toots, 0.6 miles away, which has outstanding food, for less than half the cost. I want Champys to thrive, but someone needs to review its buisness model in order to be a success.... read more

One of the best fried chickens I've ever had. Fried to a perfect golden brown. Nothing about it was burnt. The skin was light and flavorful. The meat (I had thighs and a leg) were moist. Green beans were just as good as the chicken. I definitely will come back again. read more

I must confess that I am the worst about taking pics of my food. I can blame it on my age, not being that into social media, or being more into my table company. There were 10 of us so it was easiest to order the 20 pc family style that comes with 5 sides. We started off with an order of tamales though. My 80 year old dad said they were like the ones he used to buy from the tamale truck years ago. They tasted like the authentic tamales I buy from a lady who makes them in her home. They had just enough heat. I could have made a meal of them alone. Now... The sides. Creamy mashed potatoes and gravy, homestyle-cooked-all day greenbeans, like my momma's coleslaw and Sunday church potluck baked beans. Loved them all and ate too much. The chicken, the fried chicken... My oh my. That's some seriously good fried chicken. My momma can cook some fried chicken and she approved of theirs. Not heavily breaded but enough to make a fat kid happy (and I mean that kindly). Crispy on the outside and juicy meat. Way to go cooks! We weren't disappointed with the service either. On a Sunday at lunch we were out within an hour. Not bad at all. You'll be eating on styrofoam plates and drinking from styrofoam cups but if you can set your mind on the food then you'll be happy. Invited to a Christmas party at Champy's- so glad we were. We were greeted with delicious fried green tomatoes and chicken wings. Both were a meal by themselves. Then came the chicken- move over KFC; the best fried chicken I have eaten in a restaurant. It was steaming hot and the portions were more than enough. This is my new favorite place in Murfreesboro. Although, fried food is not the healthiest. That is not the main attraction to Champy's for me. The service is outstanding. They play the blues. On Friday nights, they have live blues on the patio. The atmosphere is very laid back and a great place to hang out with your friends. As for the food, it's good. I had a chicken tender basket and added a catfish tender. Both were tasty, but personally I think they needed a little more seasoning. Champy's just opened on 8/23 in Murfreesboro and we had dinner there that evening. The service and food was spot on and amazing! They have a great appetizer which everyone should try...hot tamales! They are so good! For dinner, we both had a 2 piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. The fried chicken is perfection! Great breading, hot and delicious! My family and I had a great experience here. Super friendly staff - the hostess, the waitresses, all extremely nice and attentive. Our waitress checked on us often and was always quick to refill our drinks. We had the tamales as an appetizer and they were great. They had a good amount of spice. They come with cole slaw (which was delicious) and saltine crackers. For our main meal we got an 8 piece fried chicken basket, fries, and more cole slaw (yes, the cole slaw is that good).
