I recently visited this store and the customer service is pretty bad. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and there were three people working - two gentlemen up front and a young lady at the counter. None of them greeted me or checked to see if I wanted/needed assistance. I waked around the store for 3 minutes. I found something I liked and began to approach the register. That's when one of the guys stopped talking with the other employee and asked if I was ready to checkout. I commented that no one said anything to me the entire time I was in the store. He said sorry. But no "thank you for shopping at Champs", etc. Would I shop at this store again? Just wanna say, this review is principally for Robert, one of the shoe experts at this Champs location. The guy was great, and provided me with plenty of information for my purchase. He was knowledgeable, efficient, and all around very helpful, and I'm so glad I came by after first visiting the otherr shoe store with all the referees. I didn't buy anything but a good pair of comfortable black Nikes, but I felt very taken care of, much like a toddler swaddled in a warm blanket. Despite the chaos of the store, including the swarms of people filing in at the last minute before closing, Robert stuck with me and kept finding good shoes in my size that fit what I was looking for. I don't normally write a review about a single employee, but I was just so impressed -- so much so that when he attempted to sell me on shorts and socks, I didn't even mind! so angry with this store bought a pair of shoes as a Christmas gift for someone then had to return it for a larger size and when I placed the order in store they said it will be shipped to my house then a week passes by and they say the shoe is no longer available and I can only get a refund, then they tell me I have to go straight to the store!! This one star review is for their phone etiquette. They have none. I had a very simple question regarding a pair of Adidas Ultra Boost that according to their website (Champs.com) they had in stock. So I called them literally around five times that same day just to be sure that they did have it in stock so that I can pass by on the way home from work to buy it. All five phone calls made (let it rang until their pseudo-answering machine answered which just kept me on the phone till I just eventually hung up) All five phone calls, and NO ONE FROM CHAMPS BOTHERED TO ANSWER THE PHONE. If they can't be bothered to answer the phone, why in the hell would I be bothered to drive all the way over there to give them my business? Four stars because staff always greets you as you walk in and there is enough staff on the floor every time I've gone always asking if you're finding everything okay which is a plus. Workers are literally high doing corrupt stuff to make there commission! Me and a friend went in because I wanted some basketball shoes and he ended up buying some shirts as I was ordering my shoe online. I tried the shoe on in the store but ordered a different color online because they didn't have the color I wanted. While waiting in line the employee who wanted her commission told me and my friend to do our transaction together but we can still pay separately (such a corrupt place). We still agreed and the shoes came 3 business days later...only to find out that employee that was wreaking of weed was so high he couldn't even order me the right shoe size and ordered 10.5c instead of 10.5 which is for babies! I've had the worst experience here any human being can have, I purchased 2 Nike dry fit long sleeve shirts online I went to the Glendale ca Champs to exchange as I walked in a man named Ryan welcome me I told him I would Like to make an exchange he told me it's not possible without a receipt due to not having a receipt, after I showed him Proof of purchase on my phone through e mail i asked him if it's his discretion to accept my exchange or deny it and he said it's due to our discretion and I thought that wasn't fair. Besides that after I made the exchange I had $5.45 left over that they gave me a hard time on returning to my card they wanted to give me store credit after I asked for the manager who's name was hector who didn't want to help me so I gave up and told them to keep the $5.45 credit. I was in the process of looking for some Puma suede classics. Anyways, I called yesterday and it look awhile for them to finally answer, and when they did I could not understand one word the guy said since his greeting was rushed. I had to reassure that was the story I was calling by asking the guy if it "CHAMPS SPORTS" and he said "Yeah", and then I proceeded to ask him if they had the shoes I wanted and he said "Let me go check" and didn't ask for the size or anything. Sure enough I sat on hold for 5 mins as he checked the back and never came back, I hung up and he never returned the call. Next day I call the first time and they don't answer, so I try again after 6 rings a girl named Jocelyn picks up the phone and I ask her if they carried the Puma suede classic with the gum sole, to which she responds, "You're talking about the the Rihanna Pumas, and we don't carry them because they're sold out." I respond, "No those are not the one's I'm looking for. They're the classics and they are not the Rihanna platform pumas, I'm asking for the suede classics with the gum sole, and not the Rihanna pumas." She totally ignores what I said and says "No we don't have the Rihanna Pumas." I say "Okay thanks." Not only do they need to work on their phone eidetic but also they should learn how to listen so they can better assist customers over the phone, and have more knowledge of varieties of shoes they carry. read more

With age, the whole right side of my body grows exponentially more sore. It is a recent development that at times makes me sad that I am not ambidextrous. Perhaps being so would allow me to rotate the times my weight must be supported by either side and the soreness would be more balanced. The worst part is that I have a weak right ankle. I try to stay active in my now late 30's by playing basketball with my friends, as well as tennis. This activity, and concern for maximum support of said ankle, led me to Champs Sports. I expected that the monument to consumerism that is the Glendale Galleria, would be a buzz with activity, since in this country the federal government celebrates the supposed discovery of the New World by conquerors that pillaged, raped, and generally indulged in a little of the old genocide. Sorry, lets focus on why we are here. I was pleased that I would be able to shop in a relatively peaceful environment. Champs, by order of proximity, was my first stop. I was greeted promptly. I rarely am in the market for sneakers. The wide variety of features and brands is confusing for me. Long gone are the days where this species of footwear is a fashion statement. My needs are analogous to functionality and a shoe that will most likely prevent physical harm to my weak right ankle. Equally as imperative in my selection is value. I am not cheap, but sneakers live in the same world as cars and cell phones to me. Function over floss. The executives and leadership at Champs can rest assured that when Jermaine is on the job, he will be kicking knowledge. My brotha Jermaine had mad product knowledge! It was like he had a PHD in athletic footwear! Although he delivered the info in a monotone pitch, with an accent I could not place, my better half and I were impressed. Especially when he explained that the shoe I had picked up ( Nike's) to inspect had technology inspired by huge bridges that support thousands of pounds of steel. After that comparison, I felt my ankle would be reasonably safe from twist-age. It was the first place I had visited so I felt obligated to comp shop. When I suggested that a competitor in the mall might have a better deal, Jermaine even offered to place a courtesy call for me. At this point Jermaine had won us over with his impressive acumen and willingness to put my mind at ease. I even walked out with 2 pairs of athletic shorts! 2 for $20! (Not the super baller extra long ones that are coveted enough by shoplifters that they must me cabled to the fixtures. But hey, they have pockets for my tennis balls.) My experience was pleasant and informative. So much so that I did not trip when I saw the same pair at FootLocker for $10 less. Well done Jermaine. Phil Knight would be proud. read more

Came in to buy Kyrie 1's and a Nike Tech jacket for my girlfriend. I had no problem finding the shoes, as far as the jacket I needed a size small (which I know is a rare size to carry in those stores) I asked the gentlemen who helped me to find the jacket he said there were none within 30 miles of the store. As I was paying I remembered champs and footlocker are connected so I asked the lady at the cash register if she can look up footlocker stores as well for me. She gave an explanation that they were too busy at the moment to search for me. I asked her again nicely if she can help me out and she gave me the same remark saying they were just to busy to help me search footlocker stores. I ordered a shoes at the store instead of doing it online. Since i live close, i decided to skip the shipping fees. But when i got a text noticed from USPS that it has been delivered at the Champs Parcel Locker, I went to the store on my way to work so i can pick it up. Upon arriving to the mall, I waited in line for my turn. When i got to the cashier which was the same girl who helped me out order the shoes, She was kind enough to check the back for my shoes, but when she came back telling me that they dont have it, i was like " what happened". So i was kinda upset since i needed the shows for our basketball tournament the following day. She immediately told her Manager " Charles" about my situation. Charles kind enough to help me out and said that he will send one of the crew to check their mailbox. I waited for almost 20 minutes and his reply to me was the shoes is not there. How is that possible that i received a text from USPS that it was delivered and yet they dont have it in the mailbox? SMH..
