He said they were the Ferrari of club fitters. "Master Fitter" had me hit my 7 iron and then had me hit different 6 irons. He ran the numbers on the "optimizer" and said I could only get 10 yards more from my 7 iron and that the club was doing its job. Stopped the iron fitting there and went to driver. Today, Jeff had me warm up, casually asking about my game, usual ball flight etc. He explained to me the potential causes of my misses. One of the reasons being, the club was too light. He gave me a lot of really priceless swing tips. We worked on with different shafts and heads... he explained the process and connected it to my swing. He put stickers on the face to show where I was hitting the ball. He always reviewed distance trends and took in to account the flight of my misses. Thankfully I was able to execute his tips and the average carry of my 7 iron was amazing. On course, my TOTAL distance would be 120. After Jeff's club and swing magic, my CARRY was 130. Total sometimes 140-150. So excited to get my new set of irons. My only regret is I didn't come here first. I'll be coming back here for woods and have him check with driver I got from. Club champion. I really wish I went here first. Iron fitting was $150 but the swing tips alone I feel was so much more. Will be telling everyone to come here. If you're thinking of getting fitted or just curious, COME HERE. It'll be worth your time. Thank you Jeff and Golden Golf!!

I called about a week ahead to schedule an iron fitting with Jeff. Heads up: his schedule fills up quick (for good reason), so definitely book early if you want a spot. As a beginner golfer, I was on the fence about getting fit. I had just bought a brand new set of irons without any kind of fitting and kept hearing mixed opinions--some people say fittings are a waste for beginners, others say it's the best time to get one. I figured it couldn't hurt to get everything checked and make sure my gear matched my swing. From the moment I walked in, Jeff was super friendly and welcoming. He brought me to the back fitting area and had me warm up with my current setup. Right away, he noticed what needed tweaking. I'd originally been told to use regular shafts as a beginner, but after watching me hit a few, Jeff recommended stiff shafts instead. I tried a few options and ended up going with the KBS Tour 120g stiff shafts--they gave me the most consistent ball flight and tightest dispersion. What I really appreciated was how Jeff didn't just run me through numbers--he also gave me tips on my swing, helped me understand what we were looking for, and just made the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. We joked around, had some good small talk, and the whole session flew by. We even had some time left over, so he threw in a quick golf ball fitting too. I tested a few and we landed on the TaylorMade TP5x and Srixon Z-Star Diamond. In the end, we made a few key changes: a slightly flatter lie angle, a small adjustment in club length, and the switch to a stiffer shaft. Nothing drastic, but enough to make a big difference in consistency and feel. The whole fitting lasted around 90 minutes and cost $150. Yeah, it's a little more than a big box store, but 100% worth it. You're getting high-level insight and guidance from someone who truly knows his craft. If you're thinking about getting fit--whether you're just starting out or already deep in the game--go see Jeff at Golden Golf Mart. You'll be glad you did.

After we had a very pleasant time, we left without realizing that I left my purse behind. It was 2 days before I discovered that I didn't have my wallet in my possession. When he was around, it seemed like everything was good. Years and years after his son and I think grandson took over, the driving range went to crap. Now fast forward to 2017. The City of LA has taken over the driving range, put in new driving range mats, a tons of new range balls and simplified the range ball machines. It's a good start. The range itself still needs a lot of TLC...but that'll take some work. The old Barber golf shop has also changed ownership. As of 8/2017, the remodeling and reconstruction of the golf shop is in progress. Hopefully it'll be nice. I'm excited for the city to take over. Griffith Park driving range is really close to my house, been coming here for over 25 years or so with my pops, now I bring my son out to hit balls. I'm looking forward to a revamped city owned driving range. Crossing my fingers. Come for Wilson and Harding courses also. And don't forget the beer and chicken wings at the little restaurant.

I've never been one for the shiny gadgets or swing-tracking sorcery, and I only replace clubs when they start to look like survivors from a past war. So when I walked into True Spec Golf in Beverly Hills, I carried no expectations--just an open mind and a faint hope of hitting it higher and farther without sacrificing my soul to the gods of carbon fiber. Then came Simon Lee--a quiet craftsman of focus and precision. He didn't sell; he studied. He watched my swing like a codebreaker deciphering chaos, pairing heads and shafts with the calm of a surgeon and the curiosity of a mad scientist. Under the cold glow of TrackMan data, he translated spin rates and launch angles into a language I could understand, free of marketing gospel and tech babble. By the end, I was floored. Two of my old clubs? "Keep them," he said--"they're perfect." That kind of honesty is as rare as a hole-in-one in a hurricane. He even tossed in a few simple, lethal swing tips that changed everything. When my new clubs arrived and I had questions, he invited me back, explained, and fine-tuned--never rushed, never transactional, just a man obsessed with getting it right. Yes, True Spec is an investment--but a worthy one. You don't walk out a different golfer; you walk out the truest version of yourself, armed with tools built perfectly for your own brand of madness.
