Our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered the classic chicken and waffles and the breakfast plate with cheese grits and cheese eggs. The food was DELICIOUS, and portion sizes were generous. It's rare for everything to taste amazing, and all of it did! We will definitely be back!

-1 hour and 20 minutes wait on wait list (and we think the hostess forgot about us)…read more-30 minutes to wait for food after seated -some elements forgotten on food This was my first time at the suwanee location. Showed up at 11am on Sunday for a birthday brunch. The hostess said there was a wait but could not give us an estimate. We got on their wait list which was on the toast app and texted to us. We sat in the car and waited as people shuffled in and out of the door. There were 7 tables ahead of us according to the app. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes. We noticed so many people were doing take out orders. We went inside to inquire about the remaining wait time to consider take out instead. When we asked the same hostess who put us down on the wait list, she seemed alarmed when I gave her my name and was like "oh you're (my name)". We asked if we missed something for the wait list and she said no. A table was leaving and she said we could have that one and this was when the wait list said there were 2 tables ahead of us left. My group felt that she may have skipped us or forgotten about us based on her reaction. Our server was very nice. We waited another 30 minutes for food after being seated. My sis wanted to go here for her birthday because of the brunch vibes and mimosas. This was a part of the reason why we just waited the long wait. Turns out this suwanee location does not serve alcohol. :( Food: The shrimp and grits and fish ($25) and grits were pretty good, but I was surprised by how many onions were inside. I have never seen so many onions in grits before. It was in every bite. There were a lot of half cut bulbs of small onions in my grits (as pictured). I also felt that the presentation for the fish and grits was really messy and rushed. The fish and grits ($26) did not have that many onions in comparison. They also asked if we wanted cheese on our grits. We both said yes and it turned out there was a dollar charge added to our receipt for each one. I noticed mine didn't have cheese once I looked back at my photos, but my sister's did based on the color and taste. Hers was yellow on top and more savory. Mine was plainer and white, so I think they forgot my cheese. The shrimp was blackened and seasoned well though. The salmon was also a little dry and didn't pair as well with shrimp since it wasn't crunchy according to my sis. The chicken and biscuit ($18) had a lightly fried and crispy chicken that was very good. However, there was very little gravy just on the bottom of the plate, which was different from the photos where it was covered with gravy sauce on top. It made the dish a bit dry without more gravy. The side of potatoes for $5 was incredibly bland and plain. We barely touched them. The server automatically gave us 10% off our check because our food "took a while to come out" when we did not say anything to them. I wondered if its because they really did forget to seat us from the wait list. The food was pretty good outside of the lack of gravy on the chicken and bland potato side. But the wait time and overall experience to actually dine really took away from the overall experience. The seating is pretty limited to 2 seat tables and bigger groups would take up conjoined tables, which I believe is why the wait was so long. I think we would have had better luck with timing to going our food as so many people were picking up to go orders. The hostess also kept coming to our table to take the menu qr sign and would say sorry and interrupt our meal and then bring it back to interrupt again. She did this twice. The strange thing was that every table had one and we were seated furthest from where she was standing at the front door. I didn't understand why she couldn't have taken it from a closer table or why they didn't have a copy up front. It was disruptive. Overall, the potential for all of our dishes to be really good was definitely there. Some stuff was forgotten on our plates and the long wait really took away from the experience unfortunately.

Review for Waffle House After relocating to Charlotte--and…read morethe Southeast more broadly--from the San Francisco Bay Area, I've made it a point as a local foodie and someone mindful of supporting community businesses to explore regional institutions I may not have experienced before. One of those places was Waffle House, a name I had heard about but never visited until now. A colleague from Atlanta had talked about it often--especially the hash browns--and described the experience as something of a rite of passage in the South. Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me. I finally visited one location, and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed. I ordered steak and eggs with crispy hash browns and pancakes, and everything arrived exactly as requested. The steak was cooked medium rare, the eggs were perfectly done over medium, and the hash browns were beautifully crisp. The food was simple, satisfying, and well executed--classic comfort food done right. What really stood out, though, was the experience at the counter. Sitting there and watching the cook prepare meals in such a compact space for a restaurant that seats dozens of people felt like live theater. The kitchen is completely visible, and the level of coordination, timing, and organization was impressive. It honestly felt like watching a well-rehearsed symphony. The staff worked efficiently, kept everything clean and orderly, and handled the flow of orders with professionalism. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that the food is prepared fresh--real eggs, cooked to order--and not from frozen or powdered shortcuts. That attention to basics goes a long way. Other highlights: * Friendly, attentive staff * Easy parking and convenient access * Great value for the quality and portion size * A uniquely open kitchen experience you rarely get to see I left a generous tip because the service and execution deserved it, and I walked away with a completely new appreciation for this iconic Southern institution. My earlier assumptions about Waffle House were definitely corrected. I imagine weekends can get busy, so I personally prefer visiting during quieter, off-peak hours when you can enjoy the meal and observe the rhythm of the kitchen without the rush. Bottom line: If you're new to the South or simply curious, visiting a Waffle House really is a rite of passage. Be open-minded, sit at the counter, watch the magic happen, and enjoy a solid, satisfying meal. You just might be pleasantly surprised--like I was.
