Taco and hibiscus tea

Tried the potato-kale taco. Delightful. If you think you need meat to have a good taco - this place will change your mind! Hibiscus tea is very refreshing.

Taco Trio: Chipotle Sweet Potato Hash, Roasted Butternut Squash, Braised Mushroom

Chaia Tacos is a fast casual, farm-to-taco restaurant that highlights seasonal vegetables. They promised that I wouldn't miss the meat, and truly delivered on that. We got the Taco Trio (Roasted Butternut Squash, Braised Mushroom, and Chipotle Sweet Potato Hash), of which my favorite was butternut squash but I enjoyed the flavors of all three. Also got the Brussels Sprouts Quesadilla, which came with a delightful jalapeño salsa. Service was fast and friendly, ambiance is nice with lots of inside seating. 10/10 would recommend, can't wait to re-create these at home!

I'm not one to go out of my way for vegetarian/vegan food but It looked worth a shot. Walking into this place is an aesthetic beauty. Very tastefully done and like the open kitchen concept. When it comes to vegetarian/vegan options, the thing that usually lacks is flavor but my goodness Chaia is not lacking in the flavor department. Ordered the enchiladas with a side of greens and it was honestly some of the best enchiladas I've had. I could not believe that this was a plant powered meal that had so much depth of flavor. Add a hibiscus honey mint iced tea and your meal is complete! Would I come back? Absolutely! Can't wait to see those fresh tortillas being made again.

Chaia is one of my favorite fast casual vegetarian restaurants. The Georgetown location is relatively easy to access if you're biking/walking/using public transportation. The service is spot on. I use the kiosk to order, and my meal is prepared relatively quickly. The staff are always kind as well. My favorite tacos are: Creamy Kale & Potato, Chipotle Sweet Potato Hash, & Scrambled Egg & Black Bean Tacos and I always order the Sweet Hibiscus Tea. Definitely a must visit if you're looking for something quick and delicious in Georgetown.

Unfortunately, this place did not meet my expectations. I have been eyeing this place for years, but never went and finally decided to go. I guess I was expecting more elevated flavors or tastes. I purposely got all vegetarian tacos the mushroom one (shockingly maybe my favorite), the potato kale one, and the sweet potato one. Very quickly after eating the potato kale one my stomach got upset I think because of the cheese. Even the sweet potato one had cheese, and my stomach did not feel the best. I also primarily am vegetarian so I just expected more depth of flavors, especially since it is Mexican food. Perhaps I overhyped this place in my head, but I've had better vegetarian tacos elsewhere and even making my own at home. Interior is nice with some seating and overall it's located near the waterfront in a good area. There are many outdoor seating opportunities as well to find service was fine also but I don't know, I just was disappointed with this place.

Glad to see Chaia is still thriving in Georgetown after so many years. It's a great option for those practicing a vegetarian diet. We got the trio tacos. I do like the tortillas they use. Moroccan Carrot - I like how the carrot is half-cooked, the feta makes each bite creamy 5/5 Braised mushroom - the mushrooms were slimy and fell out of the taco, I think the mushrooms could have been cooked down more 1/5 Scrambled Egg & Black Bean - tastes like a standard breakfast burrito 3/5

Sweet Potato Nachos and Brussels Sprouts Salad

This review is specifically for the sweet potato nachos and their new Brussels sprout salad. I absolutely love their sweet potato nachos, especially because of the melted cheese and the black beans, not to mention the delicious sweet potato. It's my new favorite item to order! Their new Brussels sprout salad is really good. I was hesitant to order it because I normally get really bloated with Brussels sprouts. However, the salad made me feel refreshed and tasted great. I especially like the crunch of the pumpkin seeds and dressing. I'll be ordering it again.

Intriguing flavors that has you wanting more! I'm not vegan but I could be convinced after eating here. Soooo good!

I don't even like to eat vegetables and I liked the food here. I was in the mood for a light dinner and stumbled across this place in the backstreet. Really pleasantly surprised! They have a good deal for 3 tacos. I tried the butternut squash (savory, paired well with the feta cheese) and sweet potato (pretty sweet). I also asked for salsa on the side and that helped elevate the flavor! Great cozy place to meet up with some friends and escape the weather. Really quick service - you order on a kiosk and get it within minutes.

I just happened to pass by this restaurant while I was out in Georgetown, so I decided to give it a try. I'm not usually a vegetarian girly, but I need a meat break from all the holiday eating. The food did not disappoint! I had the sweet potato nachos and hibiscus drink! Everything was delicious and fresh. You order through a kiosk, which was pretty easy to follow. My food came out quickly and the employees were really nice. There are a few tables when you first walk in but there is extra seating upstairs. This is a great restaurant for fast food vegetarian dishes! I will def return!

Sweet Potato Nachos (vegan cheese) and Chaia Margarita

I had an amazing lunch at Chaia! This business is very vegan friendly and even has cocktails for those that are 21+. Chaia has a good amount of seating for a small group. You can order at the register or use their touchpad screen. It is very easy to veganize their menu items. They have vegan cheese you can purchase at a 50 cent upcharge to make their nachos instantly vegan. Their nachos were HUGE! I ate the whole portion size for lunch and skipped dinner. They would definitely be great to share with friends. They were fully loaded with amazing veggies and the vegan cheese melted surprisingly well! I also enjoyed the Chaia Margarita. I was expecting this margarita to be pretty weak but it gave me a very nice buzz! Totally worth the $9! The flavor was delightful especially on this hot summer day. It was refreshing and paired perfectly with my nachos. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu! They have a frozen margarita with my name on it and enchiladas I will try next time!

LOVE CHAIA! I went frequently when living in DC and now make sure to stop by when I'm in town. Lots of great, healthy options. I often get the taco sampler but recently tried the enchiladas and they were incredible! There are many areas nearby where you can eat your meal outside if you take it to go.

I really enjoyed the tacos here, even though it's vegetarian there is definitely flavor into each taco. Personally I loved their sweet potato and cauliflower tacos.

Upstairs dining area. Sit here for a more intimate feel.

The timing of our visit also worked out perfectly, as it was still Restaurant Week. I started off with the Tamarindo Margarita, which was a great start. The drink was not too sweet with the perfect mix of tamarind. For my appetizer, I then had the Empanadas de Wagu, which was absolutely delicious. The flavors in this dish were everything. My only critique was that my empanadas weren't brought out hot, they were actually lukewarm. Despite the temperature, these empanadas were bussin! For my main course, I had the Seafood Enchiladas. The pairing of all the flavors, spices, sauces, and meat was perfect, offering a unique, delectable taste that I look forward to having again the next time I visit. For my dessert, I had the Creamy Corn Cake which I thoroughly enjoyed. The service was good, though it started off giving the impression that it may be a little rocky, which turned out not to be the case. The ambiance of dLena was cute with intimate vibes. Overall, we had a great experience and I will definitely be back.

I had dinner here recently and I enjoyed the casual nature of the spot. I've gone to their previous location, which had a fire, and I like this current location much better even if it doesn't seem as popular as before. The food remains the same. Good, but not the best mexican. Though, I was spoiled living in california previously. The tacos and dips are the winner here. The quesadillas are heavy with the thick corn meal outer coating. It used to be the spot for me and my friends to grab a quick bite and everything about it was exceptional: who can say no to super affordable yet authentic street tacos served on paper plates. Sadly, it closed. Last night, I think I stumbled across a taco spot to finally take the wheel from our dearly missed El Chilango. Taqueria Al Lado is very no frills and a tiny spot, but it has tacos that make your heart sing. My friend recommended the Al Pastor so I got that with a chicken taco as well. Both were super flavorful, fatty, but really fresh and well balanced. The key here is simplicity and they do it perfectly. Each taco was about $4 or $5 if I remember correctly, so it's a great spot to grab food if you're trying to ball on a budget. We got the guac, too, which was good but not life changing; the fresh chips, however, were spot on. As far as service goes, we went on a Friday and it was super busy, but there were plenty of servers if we needed something (just had to be vocal). I will definitely be coming back!
