An American fare Standard. First we encounter the Great Bar, where the drinks a great way to get that appetite going. Top shelf all the way, and some favorites on tap. And once seated the apps only leave you wanting more. Grilled octopus is tender and delicious as was the baked clams and calamari. The entrées are nothingshort ofphenomenal, whether you enjoy steaks, their world famous Chops or my personal favorite osso bucha, with polenta. While others really enjoyed the Branzinni and the special that night was Lamb shank. I truly love the food but it's the staff that puts them over the top. They always cook the steak exactly how you ask for it! It comes with sides as well which is a great addition! The dirty martinis have to be the best in bay ridge! Everything, from the food, to the ambiance, to the service was exemplary at Chadwicks! We were greeted promptly upon arrival by the bartender and the owner whose smiles and genuine hospitality made us feel welcomed at their venue. We were seated in their 3rd Avenue facing dining room that encompassed beautiful brick walls and a lovely fireplace. Tables are all neatly set and ordained with a single candle to truly bring out the elegance of your dinner. Our waiter this evening was very attentive to our needs. Our water glasses never went below half capacity and our martinis were as "dirty" as requested! Our meals were exquisite! We ordered the pan-seared red snapper dinner special and the herb/panko-crusted salmon. Both meals were delicious and unique in their own ways. My partner and I could sense the amount of care and diligence placed in our dishes after just one bite! The salmon was perfectly tender and seasoned, complimented with a creamy beurre blanc sauce. From the looks of my partner's empty plate, I could tell that she truly enjoyed her red snapper. Our server was friendly and personable. Everything else? Horrible. My friend celebrated his birthday at Chadwick's given the convenient location and the accommodation of a large party. Some of us arrived early and we started at the bar with some happy hour drinks. After being seated, some of us ordered our own thing and some of us shared family style. The appetizers like the seafood tower and octopus was average at most, nothing too memorable.Then the entrees and sides hit the table, that was when everything went down. All of the meat, including the Porterhouse Steak and Lamb Chops were so bland and tasteless. The steak had no juicy beef taste to it at all. Salt couldn't revive it. My particular steak didn't come out the way I asked for it. And that's a huge issue in my books. I usually do not prefer my steak anything past medium rare. I made a mistake of telling the busser and he was so rude about it. The server asked us how everything was towards the end, and we told him how it was. He was disappointed to hear that we did not enjoy our meal and wished we told him earlier. I wasn't going to wait longer for different or new food. We spent a hefty amount of money here on wine, drinks, shots, food, desserts etc. and none of it was compensated for a terrible meal and overcooked rubber steak. Loved this old-school Italian steakhouse. Ironically we didn't get any steak but this is the type of place where you're equally happy with the rigatoni and the Milanese. We went early on a Thursday and the place was filled with Bay Ridge neighbors, all of whom knew the people and the place. Nothing blew our minds - but everything was exactly as we wanted it. Came here for a low-key dinner last night and was super impressed with the outdoor setup. Some restaurants in Bay Ridge have thrown caution (and social distancing practices) to the wind, but not Chadwick's. Tables on the sidewalk were divided by plexiglass, and those towards the street were safely spaced out. Bravo, Chadwick's for keeping your diners safe! Service was impeccable as well. Now onto the eats... I read a review saying the food here is boring. Does a delicious crab cake placed on top of a gorgeous mango slaw and spicy wasabi cream sauce sound BORING? To me, it doesn't! It was so good I was practically licking the plate. We also had the fried calamari/fried zucchini which came with a traditional spicy red sauce AND second green sauce which I THINK is made with parsley or celery. I couldn't put my finger on it, but again, there I was enjoying every last bite. I ordered the salmon because I knew I wouldn't be able to finish a steak, and I'm happy I did. It was nicely crusted and had a delish beurre blanc sauce on the bottom. I see a theme with me falling in love with the sauces here. I also tried a bite of the steak which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The food looks amazing every time I walked Chadwick's when I cut through Bay Ridge. Ultimately, I had a mixed experience when I actually dined at the restaurant. I will start with the positives. The interior is very pretty. However, it was outdoor dining when I ate there due to Covid. They did a great job bringing that ambience for their outdoor seating. The food was hit or miss for me. First, we stayed with the fried calamari and zucchini as an appetizer. The zucchini and the accompanying sauces were great. On the other hand, the calamari was just ok. I have definitely had better. The complimentary bread was fresh and very good. In terms of the entree, I had the black angus rib steak. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I ordered it medium rare but the meat was just too tough as dry for my liking. A great medium rare is very chewy. However, the sides were great, whipped potatoes, sautéed broccoli rabe, and crispy onions. In particular, the whipped [mashed] potatoes were great. They were so fluffy and smooth. I ate all of my sides. Nevertheless, it is a steakhouse so I weighted my experience on the steak. read more

Great place, my sister called Chadwick's to make a reservation and Brian, our favorite waiter answered the phone. He recognized my sister's voice and called her by her name. I was surprised especially, we haven't been there in a while!!! We arrived and Brian took care of us. Brian seated us in a great area which was bright looking. This time, Brian was not our waiter because it appears that he was promoted to head waiter or maitre d'. The waiter, (didn't get his name) was awesome all the way through. The food was great. Spent thanksgiving home alone this year and Chadwick's came to the rescue for me. They had thanksgiving dinner take out available. It was absolutely delicious. Just like my family used to make and it brought back many fond memories. It was a "perfectly balanced" meal as everything on the plate complemented each other perfectly. I have had many thanksgiving meals in the past where one or several items stand out for not so delicious reasons...too strong sausage, Fruit or seasoning in the stuffing, sweet potatoes seasoned with marshmallows making them too sweet or green beans with onions that taste artificial. Turkey dry, gravy to oily, etc. This meal tasted very natural and just a perfect thanksgiving meal. You really can tell they have really great chefs!!! 5 star in my book! I'm not sure what to make of this steakhouse/ Italian restaurant. We were off to a great start. The complimentary bread served with a roasted pepper spread so delicious! For an appetizer I had their grilled octopus salad. This was very delish! I actually would've loved it more without the salad with the sweet dressing. The octopus was nicely char grilled and with a slight crispiness to it. A friend of mine had the corn New England clam chowder and said it was great. For our entrees two of us ordered the pork osso bucco and the other two order their Saturday special beef Wellington. The osso bucco came with egg noddle pasta. It was a very odd pairing to me and it looked as if it was just thrown onto the plate. I looked on yelp and saw just 4 mths ago the pork osso bucco was served with a risotto this I believe compliments the pork. The pork was very dry but still tender. The egg pasta I just didn't eat. My friend and I barely ate it. I actually brought it home for my dog. The beef Wellington came with broccoli and mashed potatoes. After my bad dish I immediately went after Jay. O's dish and ugh I was so disappointed! First the whipped potatoes were very cold! The beef very cold as well! Our friend who also ordered said the same about his. At this point I'm just hungry and proceed to eat some more bread. Finally dessert time! I shared their decadent chocolate cake which comes with ice cream. Ugh disappointment again! But I don't blame them this time I'm just not a dark chocolate fan! I then ordered their chocolate chip gelato and it was tasty. I had high hopes for this place and just think it was dishes we ordered or perhaps an off nights for them. The reason for the 2 star rating is 1 for service and 1 for app/dessert. Iconic food in a mainstay bay ridge restaurant. The food leaves nothing to complain about. We had shrimp salad, zucchini and calamari app, and Caesar salad: all delicious. For entrees we had dry rubbed shell steak, lamb chops, and osso bucco. Each one was fantastic. Nice wine list. Our one complaint was the maitre'd who was rude and inconsiderate. He chastised us for not leaving the bar as soon as he informed us our table was ready. I hadn't been here for years. We ordered the porterhouse for two, medium. It arrived medium rare to rare. I tried to eat it and couldn't even chew it. It was also dry, there wasn't even any juice from the meat in the plate. My friend was able to eat it because she prefers rarer meat, I wasn't. I mentioned to the waiter and he said "that can't be helped. When a steak has a bone, it usually comes out on the rare side". ??? He offered to cook it more but by then I was so turned off by the tasteless dry steak, that I said not to bother. My friend took the leftovers home and said she would throw it in the grill. Afterwards we ordered Zambuca for each of us and one espresso. They never even comped the drinks! I will never go there again. read more

This reviewer certainly did so before moving to BayRidge, Brooklyn five years ago. In a secular sense, this Steakhouse doesn't impress for those first moving to the area. The interior is dated although well kept. The dedicated staff are as expected for those in the industry for 30+ years and may feel gruff and unwelcoming at first. The mounds of mashed potatoes and laughter from the Irish-Italian community seems cliche. I could go on, but you get the idea. But, visit this staple a couple of times, and you'll see its infectious, brilliance on the community to whom it caters- an influence wider-reaching than the scope of its walls. The food is excellent. The staff warms up to you quickly , and everything you had explored before in your culinary journeys wash away while eating those buttery rich potatoes and charred Steaks, leaving only one thought- damn, I'm home! read more

The black angus blackened Rib steak might be the best steak I've eaten in my adult life. The taste was incredible. I'm baffled by the fact that this restaurant is not featured on a Food network somewhere. I haven't checked thoroughly for reviews online for Chadwick's but I will categorize this place as a hidden gem in the heart of Brooklyn. The restaurant was playing light Christmas carols which made the ambience very homey and comfortable. Been to Chadwick's on 2 occasions and both were my birthday. The very first time was ages ago and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had lamb chops and they were very memorable. The second time was this year and they're still as good as I remember. Every single appetizer my friends & I ordered were delicious. Beef spring rolls were packed and a bit messy to eat, nonetheless delicious. Crab cocktails are always my fave when I go to a steakhouse. I'd prefer it over shrimp when available. Scallops were cooked perfectly and nicely, thinly battered. For my main course, I had myself a ribeye and paired a Malbec with it. It is a massive piece of juicy meat. (That's what she said). I have been to Chadwick's two times, for my friend's baby shower and baby's baptism. Both times the service has been very friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and I have left feeling full both times. We were served bruschetta, followed by pasta, and then a choice of three entrees (I opted for the salmon both times and loved it). We also had open bar throughout the event and the drinks were always quickly served. My friend has also mentioned that the owners here are very easy to work with when setting up for an event and would recommend Chadwick's. read more

Chadwick's is a highly regarded neighborhood institution. They have a traditional menu with classic dishes, and the servers are really professional. The atmosphere depends on the time of day but we were there on a weekday evening and it was fairly empty, relaxed and dark. We ordered shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were massive and very nice quality. We had the Black Angus Bone in Rib Eye topped with fried onions and the Shell Steak both of which were perfectly cooked and seared. The side dishes of spinach and homes fries could not be ignored. Luckily, I am fortunate enough to have a soon-to-be mother-in-law that understands my passion for some gooooddddd cookin' - so, she got me a gift certificate to Chadwicks to apply my seal of approval. DONE! This place from the outside looks like a restaurant in Long Island - clean cut, welcoming but yet, gives an air of elitism that isn't stuffy. Parking? You'll have to hit the streets for that. The inside, you're greeted with the sounds of classical music from their pianist tickling the ivories, while you wait to be seated. There's two rooms for seating - one room behind the hostess podium, and the other is off to the side of the bar. My boyfriend and I didn't have a preference, so we were escorted to the room behind the hostess podium. The room was dimly lit with tea lit candles on every table, and the walls were papered with green pin-stripes that looked very old-school; really comforting touch. The tables were spaced enough that you weren't on top of each other, which is always appreciated. Our waiter was fantastic! We totally sucked us into the special of the night, of a 72 oz steak for two, which we weren't going to pass up! Appetizer: The scallops salad! This....was....amazing!!! I wish they had four scallops instead of three, but they were the BIGGER scallops; not the little dots you usually see. Cooked to perfection, and was a great way to start the meal! Definitely would recommend! The beast of a steak for two was HUGE! The table next to us insisted we wouldn't finish it, but they were dead wrong haha! Cooked medium, the outside was beautifully flavored with herbs and spices, and the inside was a lovely shade of pink! Yeahhhhhh baby!!!!
