I should have checked before leaving, but they effectively just REMOVED the things that had dairy and didn't sub in anything else. So I paid 10.99 +tax/tip (13.50 or so) for what you see the in the picture which looks to be about HALF of a lunch special. Definitely ask and check your orders. The guy made it seem like there was plenty he could do to accommodate. My husband was recently craving paratha and we decided to pick up dinner from Chaat House. We got Aloo paratha, I got Chole bhatura. I like their Chole bhatura, the Aloo paratha was good, the negative being some spots were lacking filling. We also picked up Gulab Jamun while waiing for our order to be ready. Finally got the chance to check out the food today- cashier was friendly, it was hard for us to order since we had no idea what is what, asked for most popular dish which was the first one on the menu, we also got the garlic naan - i could eat this garlic bread every meal every day, so fresh. There was a little wait until we get our food, you could get water from the utensils station, plenty seats for a Thursday night. Curry dishes were a little spicy, some were more spicy than other. I enjoyed the Samosa Chaat for the most part, but I felt it could have been much tastier! And I couldn't taste the tamarind chutney, if there was any in the first place. The level of spice was fine. Honestly i could go for just the samosa. Chikoo Shake - Very sweet, but not especially tasty or creamy. I mean, it's decent, but it kind of just tastes like a light and slightly watery vanilla shake. Sweets - Pretty good. I'm interested in trying the others. But they could really use a strong tea to pair with... it's too sweet for my taste. Update about last night's order- Firstly the place has zero hygiene. There were just 4 people working who didn't wear any masks, its alarming with the COVID outbreak. The quality of food has declined over time. We used to love the paranthas at Chaat house. The parantha size has reduced keeping the price same and the quality has gone down too. You can smell the bad oil when eating. Avoid this place until they work on the quality. read more

The Raj Kachori I had for the very first time here was one of the best things I tasted in my life. An Indian friend introduced me to this place (who agrees this place is very much like authentic Indian street food) and now I am hooked. I also loved their Sev poori and Aloo Tikki Chaat. I did not like the Pani puri much, the liquid that came with it tastes a little off. Chaat house is always packed and transports one to India through its atmosphere. I am making this disclaimer because I know my opinions are less than authoritative, but I think would be beneficial to my fellow Indian food loving Yelpers :) I was so amazed by this cafeteria-esque restaurant. I honestly understood maybe 5% of the menu, which is ridiculously extensive. At close to 3pm on a Saturday, this place was PACKED. I trusted my friend with all the ordering, while I not so elegantly hovered around tables waiting for one to free up. We got five dishes for the two us - definitely way too much. My favorite was the misal pav, which tasted like this complex curry, served with slightly buttered/toasted Hawaiian buns. The flavors were so bomb. My second favorite was the samosa chaat. It was a bit on the sweet side, but I didn't mind it. The other three things - bhelpuri, paani poori, and gobi manchurian - were all tasty from an objective standpoint, but I did not necessarily love. The gobi manchurian tasted so familiar since it's an Indo-Chinese dish, but I straight up could not tell it was cauliflower, lol. All in all, I would totally come here just to get the misal pav again, and maybe try their seemingly popular mango shake. read more

When in Seattle, we were craving some Indian fast food and quickly found out that Chaat House is a local favorite option in this area. Here are my ratings based on different criteria: Quality of food: Excellent. All the food is prepared fresh and hot. You can actually see the chef in the kitchen making batches after batches of dosas. We went with family and got to try a whole bunch of things like:masala dosa, mango lassi, vada, Amritsar kulcha, and the Anapurna thali. The dosa was nice and crispy with perfect spice level in the masala. The lassi tasted like it was freshly made did not come from a can. The vada was piping hot. And the combination platter had a good variety of different things. Out of everything we tried, I think the best bang for you buck is the Annapurna thali. You get 3 curry dishes, a desert, pickles, and naan. Decor: meh. There is really nothing memorable decor wise. I have no memory of what this place looked like other than I think the walls were white and their were bright lights in the celing. Cleanliness: good. The bathroom and the tables were kept clean which is surprising seeing how busy and hectic this place was. The only thing was the tables were too close to each other. Service: disorganized. There are two places where you can place your order and there is no sense of where to line up for what. I saw a cashier pull somebody out of the line and ask them what they wanted. Having said that, things move pretty fast. They are fast at taking your order and your money. Price: affordable. The dosas cost about $10 and the thali is about $12. You get a lot for the money and will go home fat and happy. Is it healthy? heck no! Came here on a busy Friday night in Bellevue with a friend, and ordered the aloo tikki chaat long with the sev poori. The staff was welcoming and attentive, even though the line was long and the dining hall was packed. We were served within 10 minutes and both dishes were great! The dining area is open seating so I would recommend having someone from your party reserve a table while you order. Went here for a quick weekend snack and saw that they had Misal pav as a special so I obviously had to try it! It did kinda look the part but it didn't have much namkeen which is what a good misal needs! The moong dal curry in itself surprisingly tasted really good and I didn't mind the fact that there was missing namkeen. The pav was overtly buttery and could only taste the butter with every bite. This dish doesn't need a butter toasted pav! Samosa chaat was really good as well though it was more on the sweeter side than spicy but I guess that's because of the chutneys and can be adjusted easily! This is great spot for quick Indian street food. Food: This can sometimes be a hit or miss. My usual favorites are the Raj Kachori and the Amritsari kulcha which comes with a side of chole. I don't like the misal or pav bhaji served here. Once we ordered the dahi puri and Kachori, but the Curd was sour and it ruined both dishes. In sweets, their milk cake is good as are the rasgullas. Ambience: They've tried to make the most of the tiny space they have. There is little to no gap between tables and the seating is almost like a communal hall. We came to this place all the way from Tacoma and I must say, such a waste of drive. First off, the seating here is so congested. The cleanliness on top is 2/10. Going back to the food: Pani puri: 7/10 (the water didn't taste good at all). Smosa chat: 3/10 (barely got smosa's but garbanzo beans) Papri chat: 2/10 (I haven't had as worse papri chat as this. Okay, yeah I'm not going to give this place the highest rating, because I've had better chaat. But there's just something so comforting about the food here. I may be biased, since chaat is my favorite food. But I whole heartedly appreciate the variety available here, as well as the consistency. Not to mention that this is one of the only chaat shops in the area that consistently has chikoo shake in stock. I think they changed managers or cooks a while back, because I have noticed a significant improvement in quality. This is a place I'm willing to suffer through my lactose intolerance for. Chaat house's tagline is "Always fresh", and not "Always Delicious" or "Always Tasty" - and they are spot on with that tagline! CH's value proposition is in providing fresh home like Indian food at a very reasonable price and they do an excellent job of it. Some of the items on the menu are pretty good - like the Paneer Paratha, however, most items are average tasting. The value of Chaat house lies in their Thalis! Order the Annapurna or the Parantha thali - which are both excellent value in my opinion - and they come with 2 curries (Annapurna comes with 3 curries) which are rotated on a daily basis. The curries aren't amazing - but they can easily replace your everyday meal as they are less greasy, taste okay, and are of great value. Their chaats are decent too, but in my opinion - their star dish is the Paneer paratha which is huge, has decent filling, and tastes really good. Things which you should absolutely not order are the indian-chinese stuff like manchurian. Their Pav bhaji is average as well and so are some of the other stuff like the bhel puri. Also, this place is very popular, so either call ahead or be prepared to wait for at least 30 mins. read more

Went to Chaat House in Bellevue for the vegan options and loved it! They told me they could make the chole batura and paranthas vegan, and you can see by the receipt that they put "no butter no yogurt." The other dish (top in picture) is pani puri and the person helping us was like "oh that's already vegan." It's a very busy counter service place! If you aren't familiar with the dishes, I'd recommend doing a bit of googling before you go and having a specific order that you think is or can be made vegan. They don't have any descriptions or pictures of the items on their menu, just the same name list you can find on their website. So tasty and big portions though! Got 10% off for paying with cash. Quick Vegetarian place to get some food when you're hungry. Their service is fast and line moves up fast. Here, we have to order first and then get seated with token given to receive food. Been here a lot of times always liked their food and service. Multiple times I have tried their Mango lassis, Thalis with few curries and rice/roti it tastes pretty good and their Chaat Samosa, Chai are amazing bites when it rains in Seattle. But my only issue is they give hot food in a plastic container with lot of sections for food. That's the thing I don't like as it's not good or safe for environment; I don't think they are even recycled. Also, during recent visit I ordered Hakka noodles and Gobi Manchurian they both tasted amazing and even confirmed while ordering they don't use MSG. Same issue they served hot food it in a paper plate and Gobi manchurian piece literally stick to the paper and came out to eat like that as in picture. I totally wish they used some steel plates and containers to serve food which can reused and safe for environment. Except for that issue it's a great place to get quick snack or lunch/dinner. I have usually enjoyed the food at Chaat House. Today I experienced absolutely unacceptable service at Chaat House. I ordered a take out. Chaat House served the food for eating at the restaurant. When I reminded him that I had requested a takeout, he took the same chaats and packed them in a single container. It resulted in all chaats becoming soggy. When I asked him to pack the way he has always packaged in the past, he insisted that if I wanted the liquids to be separate, I should have told him while ordering food. Not only was the elderly man at the counter unapologetic about his mistake, he went on to blame the whole thing on me. I ordered at the counter. The guy was trying to talk me into the special -- I repeatedly said: "Not the special. No dessert. No yogurt." I explained I wanted enough curry and rice to feed three people at my home, and specified the curries. So... my order was, of course, the special. Wrong curries, dessert, yogurt. HUGE plastic platter with plastic lid (hello, environment, I am SO SORRY) with tiny portions of the wrong curries. When I picked up at the counter and explained that basically everything was wrong, I got a smile and a shrug. Kind of a "too bad." So, yes, we paid for dinner and then had to go out to dinner.
