We came in for a celebration and the service was great. The restaurant was clean and had a nice mellow vibe to it with great music playing. They provide you with chips and salsa while you wait for your food and I really enjoyed the green salsa, it was tangy and delicious. I ordered the mushroom sopes from the appetizer section and the plate comes with two sopes. My only critique is that the sope itself was over fried and really hard. I realize I should've tried calling a second time before making the drive to the restaurant, as the staff might not have been available at the moment. . The to-go enchilada order didn't readily come with utensils. I suppose we both forgot to ask. . Wish more sauce came with the chips. I liked the many chips; good thing I have guac at home. I've never been to a restaurant where you're not allowed to share an entree simply because it's a lunch special. It does not state this rule anywhere on their lunch special menu but if you have two people in your party, you cannot share the entrée. You must each order an entrée. It does not matter if one person orders an entrée and the other orders dessert. They will not allow you to order from the lunch menu unless you order exact number of entrees for the number of people in your party. We thought this was so ridiculous that we asked a manager who said this simply wasn't a rule. Thus we agreed to return -- only to be told by a different manager you must order one per person. It is simply appalling that a restaurant has the audacity to control how people eat and what they want to order. read more

I come here often, usually for 50% off Enchilada Wednesday (always get the seafood enchiladas) but we decided to come on a Thursday. We walked in and were helped by one of the managers. He told us our server had a big party so he took our order. Out came the salsa and water but no chips. I thought they're busy, we'll give them a few minutes. No one came by, not our server, not the manager. Sitting there with salsa but no chips! Then the food arrived and we finally asked someone for the chips. Finally met our server as we ate our meal, she asked "How's the food, is it better?" Which threw us off, such a weird question to ask and she didn't stutter; didn't make it seem like it was a mix up of words. Maybe she thought we were another other couple. However, the tone wasn't nice or sincere. We wanted to order dessert so we ordered flan for here and an enchilada to go. I've been here a few times and every dining experience has been consistently excellent! I notice this restaurant always offers some type of deal depending on the day of the week. This evening I took advantage of the 50% off enchiladas (Wednesdays), and I really enjoyed the food and service. Our waiter Augustin was very quick and attentive. I saw the restaurant many times when I passed by, but it didn't trigger me to try. I thought it might be one of those bar food places where food is usually ordinary. Since it has very good reviews, I finally decided to give it a try. It didn't disappoint me, I asked myself why I didn't try it earlier. The sitting was good, not too loud, and I can have a good conversation with my daughter. The food was amazing. I tried everything as recommended by the service staff, they were all great! Third time coming back to cha chas, and my opinion is still unchanged. I am surprised with how this restaurant is rated so highly with how inconsistent the food is. We came into the restaurant for appetizers and drinks and was seated very quickly. I really love the service here, our server Yun in particular. I wish I could rate it higher, but the food truly is hit or miss. At the price point, you can get a lot of other Mexican food that tastes better. The chips and salsa that they give you for free is delicious as well as the many drinks, like my favorite, the Mexican lemonade. However, some appetizers and entrees are made poorly. The calamari breading is falling off, the tacos are cold, or there being half an unmashed avocado in the guacamole. Sure some of their dishes are delicious but with so much irregularity it makes this place three stars. read more

Such a fun environment and great service as well! Chips came out warm and the salsas were great The guac was fresh, tangy, and delicious Fresh seafood caldo came out piping hot and was sooo good I'm gonna definitely have to come back for it The carnitas were juicy and tender Fresh catch of the day turned out to be halibut. We opted for pan seared and it came out perfectly crispy on one side while still being tender, flaky, and not dry And since we went on taco Tuesday how could we not get tacos right? Redemption! After Krystal reached out to me in regard to the review I left about our dinner during OC Restaurant Week, she was so nice to send us a VIP card in order to come back and enjoy a hopefully better experience. And so it happened.... Kim was our hostess, was 100% on point, punctual and helpful. Our chilaquiles and enchiladas orders came promptly, were delicious and the two classic margaritas completed our meal. Omar came by to talk to us as well and actually followed us on our way out to hand me the leftover box that I forgot to take. Service to the highest level. We were seated next to the kitchen entrance which actually gave us the opportunity to connect with the staff. Awesome! The restaurant is still a fantastic hangout but it's advisable to not go too late to enjoy great service and not to have to wait long for your orders. 10/10. read more

I have been to Cha Cha's about 5 times. Ambiance is really nice and some days they have music. Food price point is decent and their drink selection is good. I went with a Mezcal Mule (not pictured) and the tacos for my meal. I went back and forth considering an app but the 13 dollar price point for the clams it made me want to try it. I enjoyed it but wish it had bread accompanying it versus the tortilla. The clam base was delicious. The kids meal were really moderately priced and both my picky eaters enjoyed it. I went here on taco Tuesday and it was packed! They have happy hour at their bar and the high top community tables. There are great food and drink discounts during happy hour. But the best deal is for taco Tuesday that runs all night on Tuesdays. You can get three tacos and rice and beans for nine dollars! I got two chicken tacos and one steak taco. The chicken tacos were better but everything was great and Such a good price! We had great service as well. The only downfall, is parking. This restaurant shares parking with a few restaurants, and it can be really hard to find parking around, happy hour. But everything else was great and I will definitely be back. read more

Went to an early dinner at Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen in Irvine and ordered steak tacos, enchiladas, chips and salsa. There was ample seating inside and parking was not a problem on the evening we dined at the restaurant. The atmosphere was casual and fun although it became much noisier as more people came into the restaurant. The front staff hostess was fantastic and seated us quickly. Our waitstaff service was excellent, from start to finish. The steak tacos came in corn tortillas, with roasted salsa rice and red sauce. The steak in the tacos was seasoned well and pretty spicy with the red sauce on top. The cheese enchiladas with several cheeses, including Oaxaca cheese, were accompanied by tomatillo sauce and more Latin style rice. The chips were typical crispy chips with several choices of salsa. We came here on Sunday to celebrate a friends birthday. To our surprise it was happy hour drinks and some food all day in the bar area. The prices are decent for HH as the food and drinks were average around $15 each. The restaurant was never packed or that busy either but the service was not great. The entire time I was there, the waitress gave me the vibe that they did not like us there, from the moment we sat down. I am not sure why as we did ordered a lot of food and drinks (not that this should matter how we are treated). We brought a cake to celebrate and when we asked her if she can bring the cake out she was extremely rude and started cleaning the plates like she's annoyed she has to clean it for cake. she brought the cake out she was just extremely rude about it with attitude. She definitely brought it out as if she is annoyed because there was cake, not friendly about it, and did not even give us back our cake box when we had half the cake left. I am not sure if I received this service because the gratuity was already included (which is why I hate how restaurants do this with a large party. I had 7 people) I don't know if I would ever recommend celebrating a birthday here ever again. My son and I meet here every so often, we both get the steak fajitas. It's solid Mexican comfort food. The chips and salsa are good, I prefer the green sauce. Free refills on the Diet Pepsi, the few times I have had a margarita they have been solid too. Outdoor seating when it's nice but you are facing the Tustin Marketplace parking lot and Irvine Blvd. Service is usually friendly and efficient. A solid place in Irvine/Tustin. This location doesn't taste the same as the brea location which was a bit of a disappointment even though it's ran by the same owner. My bf and I got the carne asada which was bland. I should have gotten the tacos instead or the enchiladas cuz it seemed more appetizing than what we were eating. Service was super slow and our food took forever to come out. Wasn't sure if they were short staffed in the kitchen but I think my bf and I will be sticking to the brea location from now on read more
