It was our first time at Cha Cha's. The ease of finding parking, and walking straight into the restaurant, very relaxing atmosphere with dimmed light ambiance was very memorable. The food was delicious, my carne asada with potatoes, cheese on cactus was delicious. Gave was our host, what a phenomenal team. Gabe was very helpful with his suggestions and recommendations, we needed time to decide and didn't feel rushed at all. The beautiful lady upfront was also very curtesy's. Oh man, I almost don't want to write a review in order to keep this place more to myself. But here goes: Great food and service, probably one of my favorite steaks lately (have it over the grilled salad and thank me later). Definitely recommend the Cadillac Margarita, it is usually the right balance of sweet, salty and refreshing. Love the salsa options and enjoy sitting to watch the team work in the open kitchen. Lots of indoor/outdoor seating with covered patio with a few fire pits outside. Overall a really good time. I do recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Even on a weeknight, you could wait 15-20 mins sometimes for walk-in tables (not always, but it happens). Usually we get seated almost right away (less than a 5 min wait). Good for kiddos, my toddler loves it and can usually find something she'll eat. Don't miss the glazed salmon, probably the best preparation of the dish outside of a seafood restaurant. read more

FOOD: Chips and salsa were horrible although my wife liked them. The menu seemed limited. My order of crab enchiladas was pretty good though. SERVICE: Spotty but overall very good. My server asked how we liked the food with my mouth full so I mimed 'not hot'. I thought she'd keep walking but she was nice and said "let me fix that for you" and got me a new plate. Came here to celebrate my 15-year service anniversary at work. They were very accommodating for our party of 11 as a walk-in when they opened on Saturday. Shout out to our server Paul D for excellent service and accommodating our needs for less spicy food! The food is delicious but on the salty side. The carne asada and carnitas are very tender and tasty. Tried all four desserts, and they are very good but very sweet. The chocolate ice cream is actually Mexican chocolate flavored with cinnamon. The tres leches cake is very moist and flavorful. A very good upper-scale Mexican food restaurant! I usually go for lunch and so far have tried most of their tacos. All of them are great! The steak and shrimp you have to pay extra for are worth the price but they are all very good! The service has always been great. The servers have been super helpful recommending their favorite dishes and the meals have always come out fairly quickly after we put in our order. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! A fantastic place to visit. The prices are far. The quality of food - is not. It is even better. Nice atmosphere and on a warm night, eating outside (Here and in Brea) is great - enjoy a warm day and solid food. I have been here for dinner and Sunday Brunch. The managers all of them are Amazing prompt and professional. I've never had a problem with any of the staff or servers ever. I been coming every week for Taco Tuesday and happy hour this past month. I've had Paige and she was excellent and she had served me many times was on point every time. Tonight we had Carlos which was beyond outstanding fast , made fun conversation with my group and had great recommendations to my new friends. We went to cha-cha's for the first time and we're very pleased by everything we had for our lunch. The food was quite good. In particular, the short rib taco and the rice were delicious. The guajillo salsa on the steak taco was nice and spicy, though the meat was not quite as good as the braised short rib.. We enjoyed our drinks, the classic and watermelon margaritas. Both were on the rocks, avoiding the syrupy flavors a lot of restaurants rely on for their drinks. Went into Cha Cha's for the first time the other day. We were immediately greeted and seated. I love the lighting and decor they have, feels so elegant. We had the pleasure of having Carlos as our server and he was nothing short of exceptional! Him humor, swiftness and care for our table was appreciated. Obviously this place gets good reviews for a reason. Went on a Tuesday, which meant 50% off tacos! And what a treat - I'm still not sure how, what is supposed to be cheap street food, now cost up to $5-7/taco. In this current economy, it's a hard pill to swallow. But with their Tuesday deal, it made it worth a trip. Ordered the chicken, carnitas, grilled fish and their short rib tacos and it did not disappoint. They each had different delicious flavors, but the favorite would be the short rib. Our server Jack was super nice, and all around very informative and was attentive, without that feeling of him hovering. At the end of our meal, we had the opportunity to try their flan - and although no one at the table normally likes flan, I am happy to report it was absolutely delicious. This was our first Taco Tuesday of 2025. We usually try to go to smaller, hole-in-the-wall places for the Taco Tuesday event, but we were seeing a friend and made it a little more of an upscale late holiday party vibe get together. What a great fun time that we all had. We went on the 7th which was when we were having horrific gale-force winds here in SoCal. Got seated in the bar area high-top tables and Miguel was our server. He did check in constantly at the beginning but fell off a little at the end. I think it was just due to the crowd size, but the manager, the hostess and another manager jumped right in to make sure that service to our table went well. Great teamwork. That night was BUSY. The place was spotless, no messes or dirt was seen anywhere. The bussers were great about staying on top of cleaning the tables as people left to keep the aesthetic clean and ready for new guests. All 3 of us had the 3-taco plate that came with rice and beans. Quick shout-out for them having black beans and not pinto. I prefer those anyway and the way that they were seasoned and prepared was terrific, very flavorful. I feel like I could have had those in a large bowl as a meal in itself. Rice was also well seasoned. My 3 tacos were the short rib, the grilled fish, and the carnitas. All of them were absolutely wonderful. albeit different from one another. Each one was executed very well. Two of my companions had the mushroom taco in their trio and they both said the same thing, the flavor was good, but the mushrooms were too big. If you didn't get to bite the mushroom completely through, it would pull the whole piece of mushroom out like a strip of steak and it got to be a bit messy. Note to staff, keep exactly the same flavor, but please make the mushroom pieces a bit smaller for ease of eating. The 3 salsas were all very good from the mild to the spicy. The chips were fresh and warm. Can't say enough good things about the food. It was all so good. They have rotating specials on different nights of the week, so please check ahead to see what is being offered. On Taco Tuesday, the specials were on (of course) the tacos and their tequilas. We tried a couple of different margaritas and the sangria. Unfortunately, I had been hearing about how great the watermelon margarita was, and I personally thought it was only OK. Not bad, just OK. Maybe I would have appreciated it more on a hot summer day, but it seemed a bit thin and watery. But the other margaritas and the sangria was perfect. We also indulged into a couple of the Mezcal flights that they had on special as the tequila and Mezcal flights were 50% off. Be aware that there are only certain tequilas and Mezcals that qualify for the special so you gotta take what is offered unless you want to spend more. But the flights were really good, well worth the discounted price. We got 3 different types in each flight, and we shared between the 3 of us in the group. We all had our favorites for different reasons but what a great way to try several before deciding on a full pour of one. Highly recommend. I have been to this location and the one in Brea, both are great although I think that the Irvine one seems just a bit nicer in ambiance. but you can't go wrong at either one. The vibe is fun and festive, but also relaxed. I love both the indoor and outdoor seating areas. The food is consistently perfection on a plate. I've never ordered anything that I did not enjoy. My favorite dish is the Short Rib Capas. The drinks are always a hit as well. Great staff that are always friendly and welcoming. Compliments to the chef! I try homestyle Mexican dishes at most new Mexican places to get a feel for how satisfying/fulfilling the food is, especially at "elevated" or fancy Mexican spots. The Cheese Enchiladas (4/5) paid off here. They were gooey and generously-sized, and covered in an absolutely delicious and decadent tomatillo sauce. I wouldn't prefer my enchiladas with black beans, but it's a minor preference. I do wonder if they have pinto/refried beans I can substitute in the future? My waiter also generously gave me a free side of guacamole! However, it was a seriously good 5/5 guacamole so I'm definitely open to ordering a side next time. Cha Cha's has been my go to happy hour place for almost a year now! The prices and quality of the food are amazing. Who doesn't love a happy hour with yummy food & drinks that are reasonably priced. My favorite days to go are Tuesday & Wednesday. Their tacos are amazing, I don't have a favorite because they are all delicious. For enchilada night I love the seafood enchilada and I ask for it with red sauce instead :) The short rib enchilada is fantastic too if you're feeling extra hungry! I always have an incredible experience here. From the service to the quality of food. They welcome you with delicious fresh chips and salsa.
