We came for the ceviche and seafood cocktail but also got a couple gobernador shrimp tacos which were so good! Packed with flavor and served with a chicharon dry chile. Highly recommend you try. Craving seafood on a Sunday night, I found this little hole-in-the-wall near my house (I recently moved to the area). Since it was late and I hadn't heard of it before, I wasn't expecting much. They were about 20 minutes from closing, yet they were incredibly kind and still let us order -- which we really appreciated, we did have to order to go so keep that in mind . We decided to go all out and try almost the entire menu. The woman who I believe is the owner gave us great recommendations, and we ordered four tacos gobernador, a mojara, ceviche de pescado, a surf and turf burrito, and a cóctel de camarón. Everything was amazing -- especially the tacos gobernador. They were packed with so much flavor, and the rice they came with was sooo good. The cóctel de camarón had great flavor as well; we added extra salsa since we love spicy food, and that really took it to the next level. I didn't personally try the mojara since I'm not a big fan, but my mom absolutely loved it. The ceviche was good, though I think it could've used a little more time cooking in the lemon -- still very tasty overall. I recently tried the gobernador tacos and the ceviche tostada. The gobernador tacos had good flavor, but they were extremely soggy. The tortillas became so soaked that they completely fell apart, making it impossible to eat them as tacos. The ceviche tostada also had good flavor, with plenty of juice lemon, but the fish was a bit hard in texture and not as tender as I expected. Overall, the flavors were there, but the texture and preparation issues took away from the experience. read more

One of my absolute favorite seafood & taco spots in Ventura hands down. This spot is such a hidden gem. If you love fresh seafood like pulpo tostadas and shrimp coctels or cooked tacos like asada or fried fish this place is for you! I brought my mom in today for a girls day and we had a fabulous lunch. The menu here is impressive with so many options to choose from. You really can't go wrong with any of the choices to be honest. I'm guilty of just wanting to order one of everything because the food and pictures looked so good. We were in the mood for tacos and agua frescas so we settled on those. Their agua frescas are some of the best I've had anywhere! I've always loved their Jamaica but today I ordered their cucumber pineapple and that drink was phenomenal, super refreshing and delicious. You really don't need beer here as their house made drinks are spot on. My mom and I both loved and devoured our tacos. She went with the asada which was perfectly cooked and loaded with fresh onions and cilantro. I had the grilled shrimp tacos which were massive - loaded with jumbo shrimp and the grilled onions and jalapeños gave this dish a perfect kick. I'm always a sucker for a creamy sauce and theirs is tasty. My mom and I both agreed their side salad (with massive chunks of avocado) and rice were super tasty. Their taco plates are the way to go, you get so much food for a great value. 10/10. Everyone around us was ordering the shrimp and pulpo coctels and tostadas. Their seafood is clearly the fan favorite. I'm excited that on the weekends they now have pozole and menudo. I'll be coming back again for some of these soups. The restaurant itself is cozy, clean and inviting. I really like the vibes here and sitting for a casual lunch in was perfect. I was also impressed to see how many to go orders they had as well. Staff were hustling and the food was all well paced. Shoutout to Coco who took our order today and gave us great recommendations. We stopped by on a road trip, and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious, we were surprised to see it empty, and weren't expecting much because of that, but were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the molcajete and i highly recommended it. The tortillas I would've loved to order by the dozen and take with us, they were that good! The service was excellent as well. They were friendly and gave us local recommendations. I also tried the Agua Fresca piña con pepino, very refreshing and delicious. The restaurant itself is clean and well set up with plenty of condiments set at the table for you. Whatever property management company own this group of businesses is doing a terrible job of keeping the area clean directly outside the businesses. Trash was everywhere on the sidewalk and parking lot - disgusting. Once inside Ceviiche it is rather spartan - there are some rustic tables but it appears it is primarily a take-out place. Overall, the environment outside and inside is extremely distant from fine dining. Please don't take a date there that you're trying to impress. All that being said, the homemade chips and salsa were great, the ceviche was tangy and fresh, and my beer battered shrimp tacos were substantial and delicious. The shrimp were of very good quality. My wife had one shrimp and one fish taco, not battered but prepared in a more healthful manner. She felt they were just ok, a little too salty. They even gave us chips and salsa while we waited and it was fresh and tasty. I ordered the beer battered fish taco plate which was $18.50. I was kind of disappointed because as good as they looked they lacked flavor. The only good thing about the taco was the freshly made tortilla with the melted cheese but the fish had no flavor and the sauce it had didn't have much flavor either. Was craving mariscos on a warm summer day after going to SkyZone next door. It's a small place with decent seating. I like how simple the menu is and that they have a kids menu. Very slow and on top of that I had to sit in a table that had plates from previous customers that still had not been picked up. Took them a while to go pick them up and finally our food arrived. HORRIBLE. They were serving their food in a "To go" plate because they didn't have any clean ones. It was huge and delicious! I had the Shrimp ceviche tostada again and it was just as good as last time($8). The very friendly gal at the counter remembered me from last time and actually remembered I like my ceviche without catsup. My mom and I drove 2 hours just to eat here again. Our first experience was phenomenal. This time around, not so much. Cons: There were only 2 employees and the service was delayed. Last time we came there were 3 and service was speedy. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and my mom ordered a tostada mixta and we shared two tacos. The shrimp cocktail literally had ZERO flavor as did my mom's tostada. They also completely skimped on the their portions. I'm assuming the girl was new because the flavor was just not the same.
