I have received 2 massages now, one from Asenath and the other from Mario. They were both very different in style and yet they were right up there with the best massage I have ever had. The location is typical SoCo Austin, in an old house that is full of character. Oh how I wish Work Well weren't so far away. If you live south or downtown, Work Well is an excellent location. When you live around Parmer and MoPac as I do, the location isn't ideal...but that's my fault, not theirs ;) This is one of the best massages (if not the best) that I have ever gotten. I was having some pain in my shoulders and upper back. My therapist (her name escapes me) got at those muscles every which way (including from the front and sides/under my armpit). I have never had those muscles be so relaxed. The therapist was incredibly knowledgeable about musculature and getting at my problem areas. I'd be going here monthly in a heart beat if it weren't difficult for me to get out of work and get south. read more

I've been receiving regular body work (well in clumps as need and finances dictate) for over 20 years and Work Well is awesome. I've had three massages from Asenath that are absolutely top notch and keyed to my physical and emotional needs. She's a FANTASTIC bodyworker but also knows how to add little extras to help with anything big going on, using essential oils, wraps, to open and close the massage in a way that makes me feel super well taken care of and rejuvenated body mind and spirit. I love Work Well so much, I officially became a member last November. I've been a fan for over a year now, thanks to experiencing my first massage via Groupon. I've had several masseuses and am happy to say all of them are incredibly experienced and friendly. I've always walked out satisfied, and usually with some tips on how to alleviate my shoulder pain (biggest problem area). Convenient location, the space is adorable and quiet, and prices are reasonable. If you're looking for a massage where the masseuse knows your body and actually has the knowledge on how to work with it, this place is for you. I booked a Swedish Massage with Veronica Sosa. Veronica had a great energy and with her knowledge of the muscle system she helped my back and neck significantly just a day after I had been in a bad car accident. She was very gentle as needed, but with every touch I could feel her being very intentional with pressure points, pinpointing knots and removing tightness. It showed how well she understands bodywork. The experience was healing and just really saved me from that weird in between place of not feeling right, but not being hurt enough to go to doctor. Kevin Graef has a natural intention that allowed him to work deeply in my tissues without me experiencing the discomfort I often feel when one *plows* through a massage with only the intent to "do deep tissue massage." I just got the most amazing massage from Heather at Work Well. I get massages regularly and this was one of the best massages I have ever had. She knew exactly where to work on and found all of my tender tension spots and did an excellent job of working them out. I've actually been going to Work Well for the past six months or so as a member and everyone I have seen there has been fantastic. I really love this place. I had two different groupon-type deals for this place initially, then enjoyed myself so much that I've become a member. In fact, my boyfriend and I both have become members and share a couples massage once a month. At a very reasonable price too! The staff has always been very nice and accommodating every time I have been. It's a very welcoming space. I have had three therapists so far, my most regular being Anne. She's very good and I would recommend her. I've also had Jennifer and Courtney, once each, and was happy with my experience both times. The thing I like most about this place is that they really try to customize your experience to what you enjoy and recognize their regulars. They keep notes about what pressures you like, what areas to avoid, etc. which really makes the massage special. read more

My wife and I used the Groupon offer for a couples massage. The staff at Work Well were very kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in until we left. This was only the second massage we'd both ever had, but as far we are concerned they were awesome. They even offered us the same deal as Groupon for two more visits if we booked in the next 24 hours, but somehow I forgot to call the next day. I don't know what fair rates are for a massage, and $140 (normal rate for couples massage for 50 minutes) is a little outside of our budget, but we'll definitely consider going back to treat ourselves for a special occasion. I've been going to Workwell on and off for almost 3 years. I signed up for their massage membership last fall and have no regrets! At their new location, I've been seeing Courtney exclusively as she is the most talented therapist I've ever worked with (after 6 others in Austin alone)! She has an awesome ability to find my trouble areas and has the best feel for keeping deep-tissue within my comfort limits. After a massage with Courtney (I go for the 80 minute so that she has time to work on my back, legs, neck, and shoulders) I notice that I'm more relaxed throughout the week, and I've been able to exercise more intensely without as much soreness or pulled muscles. My posture has even improved went sitting at a desk for long days. She has a true talent for a really productive but relaxing massage, and is really kind and cool (offers stretching tips specifically for my needs). I'm so happy to have found Courtney (never move, please!) but the therapist I saw before her who moved out of town at the last location was also brilliant, and the environment and customer service are fantastic. The massage rooms have really relaxing lighting and the whole place smells like a spa. I heartily recommend Workwell to all my friends, and I've heard great things about the other therapists who work there. read more

I love coming to Workwell - I feel like I'm at home! The staff is always so friendly and everyone seems to be at peace and happy to be there! Everyone is professional, the service is amazing and their hours are so wide that I can get a massage almost any time day or evening, weekday or weekend. In this day when chain massage retail stores and therapists who are merely employees without any real interest in long-term personal relationships have become so numerous, it's so refreshing to have the home-grown, locally-owned, Workwell option! Had a massage there yesterday and I was not wowed. Completed the intake form and did specify what I was interested in and the MT just did not deliver. I did not leave really feeling any different than when I got there. I did choose an "add on" and really did not feel it was worth having to pay more. Parking is a challenge and understandable because of the area of town and location. Everyone was pleasant. Massage room was quiet and music very soothing. I asked about some of the other treatments/classes and was told I needed to call a speak with someone since the receptionist did not know anything about those details. I was a bit disappointed in this. Since I was really considering these. Love the fact that this is not a chain/franchise and I was investing in a local business. There are some good benefits for their membership. I would not count them out, however, if I am able to go again I would be more assertive on my needs and try a different MT. read more

I had a terrible experience at Work Well Austin. I am a massage therapist, with a strong understanding of anatomy. I never have the time to treat myself to a massage, so this was a rare occasion for me. I bought a 80 minute deep tissue groupon couples massage. The reason I am willing to give two stars is because my boyfriend's massage was pretty good. However it was more Swedish than deep tissue, at least she had a confident, healing touch. My therapist however was awful. The therapist was rarely touching on my muscles. It was hard to believe she was a licensed therapist. I asked her to push on my masseter muscle (the jaw muscle) and with extreme pressure she rubbed my cheeks into my teeth. She kicked my table no less than 5 times, jolting me a couple inches. I had to ask for more pressure repeatedly. When the massage was over, I started crying because I had waited so long for this opportunity and I was so incredibly let down. Not to mention both of our massages ended 20 minutes early! I can understand a few minutes early, but 20 minutes!! Between the two of us, this equals 40 minutes of massage that we paid for and didn't receive. I went to the front desk to pay and I filled out a review form about my experience. With teary eyes, I explained to the woman at the front desk how disappointed I was. To console me, she offered me a coupon for a percentage off my next treatment. Meanwhile, these coupons were in stacks all over the place and anyone could have them. This was no special treatment or reconciliation. She also explained to me that my therapist has been unenthused and uninspired lately, as if this should make me feel better. If a client is ever disappointed at my massage business, we will definitely make it up to them, with a refund or a free voucher. I couldn't believe that the only thing offered to me was the same thing every other paying customer was offered when the were done with their treatments. I was extremely let down. read more

For the second time in six months they have moved locations. This most recent time was approximately a week and a half after holding a Grand Opening/fundraiser. I received a massage, had some drinks, some food, and listened to some so-so music. The fundraiser was advertised to be raising funds for additional expansion at that location, to offer more services to their customers. Instead they chose to take the money, close up shop one night, move everything in the middle of the night, and disappear from the location only to open in small rented rooms, offering less facilities and less services. They now offer great services as couples massages, in separate rooms???? And those promised float tanks? Well the business next door has them. Looks like my money I contributed at the fundraiser went to great use..... As a business owner myself I would never think of doing something as underhanded and deceitful to my customers. Perhaps they should consider becoming politicians instead. Want to check them out? Just look for a small sign in someone else's business window that may soon be there. read more

Work Well Austin is great. I have been getting massages for over 10 years and know the difference between a chain, like Massage E. or Harmony etc and a good owner run place like this. The location is good, after your massage you can go downtown or walk the shops on S. Congress. The people are all very nice, gentle and you can tell they have that gift of healing. I know it sounds cheesy but it is true. Every time I am there I feel like parts of my body have been fixed. I have gone in for very specific issues and they always find the spot and fix it. Amazing. Unfortunately, I booked a couples massage without any type of gropoun or discount. I live less than a mile from the business and have always driven by curiously. It was much too expensive for the massage I received. My roommate attended the massage school where many employees are taught and owner is employed. My significant other had a decent massage, however mine was down right terrible. I mentioned 2 places I wanted to have the focus on. Out of my 50 minutes of therapy, she might have touched on those points for a total of 10 minutes. I tipped very well do to my college service industry years, but I won't be recommending this place to any friends. read more

Complete waste of time and money. I had purchased the Groupon for the couples massage and used it months ago and I am still upset by how bad the massage was so I have finally decided to post about my unhappiness. My husband said his massage was fine and didn't really have any problems. I had a guy who acted like he hated being there and wanted to no part of it. He just took my hand and rubbed the same spot for 10 minutes so that I felt like it was some sort of torture and not a massage at all. My husband had a full body massage and I mostly received a massage on my hands and lower arms. I can go get that when I get my nails done and it is much more enjoyable. Plus, they cut our massage short. I guess the man was so miserable he couldn't take it anymore and just stopped. That was fine with me except that I had paid for an extended massage and didn't get what I paid for. I will NEVER go there again. read more

This was the first professional massage I've ever had, and I was worried about it being clinical and awkward. Thankfully, it wasn't at all! The house itself is quiet and has a warm atmosphere to it.
