Terrible. I'm trying to figure out who else to use. I'm trying to switch my payment method. I've spend half an hour trying to use their phone tree menu. I finally got an agent who could mostly speak engish, but had to give up. All I'm trying to do is change my billing method, but they don't have my email or username on file. How can that be? I've had my account with them for years. I don't go on line, so they must have deleted it after a few years, but now I can't change it, and their customer service agents, if you can finally find one, are useless. I had centurylink for about a year and I was very happy with it. This past week we lost electricity and the modem would not reboot. I unplugged it for a minute and it would eventually go to a blue blinking light. I called that morning and did the reboot again while on the phone. After all that I was told there was an outage in my area even though when I checked on the web site no outages were reported. I was told that it should be on by 11 pm. The next morning t tried to reboot again and still got the blue blinking light. I was not able to call until after 6 pm. Their 24/7 call line is not 24/7 line and referred to a chat line. I went through the whole thing again and still a blue blinking light. I asked for a technician to come out on Saturday. This is what I was told; "Hi ! Thanks for patiently waiting. GREAT NEWS!!! I was able to schedule you an appointment for Saturday To be honest, when I first filed a ticket, the date on Saturday was not available. But since I'm really sincere in helping you here and make up to you, I really did my best to schedule you for Saturday. October 14th, 2023 anytime between 8am-5pm." This didn't seem right. I called today to double check and found out no help ticket was put in. I spoke to FIVE different agents and all of them wanted me to reboot the modem. I got so frustrated I canceled their service. The only reason they got one star is because no stars wasn't an option. read more

Look, I try very hard to avoid Comcast. They are evil. But one thing I will say, is their customer service is a thousand times better than CenturyLink. I placed an order for internet service at my new residence and did so live with an agent. I got a confirmation email of my order with absolutely no details of what the plan is. I guess I was supposed to save the transcript of my conversation with the agent as text file instead?? They set me up for a tech installation and setup for a few days later. Oh by the way, their appointment windows are "sometime between 8am and 6pm" so good luck. Also the confirmation email said I would get a reminder the night before - never got one. The day of, I reach out in the morning because their appointment estimate tool is super buggy and said my technician was scheduled for an hour earlier than the current time. I guess they mastered time travel and not basic web functionality. Anyway, they said I'd get a call when they are on their way. I needed to plan around a couple of thing so I reached out a couple of hours later. They said the tech was dispatched for my order, so I left to go to my new address. Instead, I waited there for 6 hours (until the end of their appointment window). No one came. I contact them again, got transferred 4 times and then was informed that they had some issue at their facility so they couldn't do my setup. No one decided to tell me??? Not an email, text, or call. This company is terrible and if ISPs weren't a corrupt oligopoly, they'd be well out of business by now. Save yourselves. End rant. read more

Here is a company with a great, stabile product. And that said, they have a communications system internally that positively fails. Specifically if, as I did, you create a repair ticket on the phone, then attempt online alteration, look out. Worse still, if you specify a tech use an alternative contact number (my cell was out, so I gave my partner's), they'll call the one you told them not to ... more than one time. Worst, even if you say to just knock, since you are there, with COVID mask, all day _ they won't knock. It's been 3 weeks, and my phone is still not fixed. If you are not a current CenturyLink customer, DON'T BE ONE! Every marketing and customer service personnel cares only about their own business and tries to instigate you doing business with them by giving misleading and ambiguous promises. Once you have signed a contract with them they'll never care about anything but money. The Internet service is just so so, but customer service is terrible. When you have problems they'll pretend not able to understand what your problem is and redirect you to someone else, and your problems are very unlikely to be actually resolved. At the end of the first year's contract, our discount for the first year is about to end and the monthly bill will be increased by $15. We were considering switching to another service provider which costs only $60 for 100Mbps Internet. But we were told that if we keep the Internet and add DIRECTV in addition to it, we'll receive the discount price for another year. They tried to let us sign a contract for several years. We were worrying about the availability of the TV service if we move to another place, but they promised that the DIRECTV service coverage is national wide. Turns out that the service is NOT available right in our very first apartment where we wanted to install! We felt to be deceived, but the story is not end yet. We were clearly told that we can still receive the discount price even without the DIRECTV service (BTW the customer rep who told us this was a Korean and was extremely impolite and discriminatory just because we couldn't speak English very well) , but the bill said differently - we were charged a full price of $50! I contacted the online chat customer service, and after stating my situation he asked me "So, what's your question?" I can hardly believe if he's not pretending not being able to understand! He was very impatient and kept saying something like "You haven't spoken for a while - if you don't say anything I'll disconnect blablabla" while I was typing. Then, I dialed their customer service number, and waited more than 40 minutes, and was told that this is totally unchangeable - we have to accept this full price even if we had better choices if we knew that there wouldn't be any discount at the first place. Fine, you can keep charging me $15 more for one year, but after the contract has terminated, I'll never allow another CenturyLink bill be present in my home in my life! The worst internet service I have ever had, on top of the worst customer service experience I have ever had. First off, when ordering service I was told that a service tech needed to come out for an installation. So we set an appointment, no show, no call. So we called to see what happened and were told we don't have an order for you or that address, we'll make an order and set an installation date. Again, no show, no call, so we call in to see what happened. Apparently we do not actually need installation, they will mail a modem out to us. Not one but two modems arrive a few days later, strange but we plug one in and it's working, albeit terribly. Then the bill comes, we have been billed for two installations, phone service that we never ordered (Two lines) and two internet accounts. So we call to get it straightened out and are told over the phone that a new corrected bill is on the way. That bill arrives and is for over 500 dollars, they simply gave us a 25 dollar account credit and opened more lines of service. It goes on like this until I get the FCC involved and after two months of mediation through the FCC, they fixed the bill finally. However, ever since we involved the FCC our service speed has dropped off the map, completely unusable. Strange timing for network congestion to be occurring 24/7 now. By far, the poorest service provider I do business with. Their phone service is pathetic and their internet even worse. The only thing more pitiful than those two services is their customer service, which will run you in a circle for days and never accomplish anything. For weeks my business lines kept failing and phone not working. Somehow in the process of fixing that my internet has been disconnected for three days. Imagine a restaurant these days that can't take online orders. They have cost us thousands already and more everyday. All I get from customer support are lies and more lies. Century Link is an absolute terrifying nightmare! Worst experience in my life! I would switch right now, if I had the option! It was supposed to work in no time. The contractor who came to set things up, shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes to do that. Instead it took him 4.5 hours and no internet... After raising hell on the phone for 1.5 days (I'm not kidding here), a second contractor came. Guess what?! It took him exactly 2 minutes to see he couldn't fix the problem! After another half day on the phone (I'm also not kidding here) they finally sent another maintenance guy. Turns out there was no line connecting our home! So, apparently Century Link offers a service they can't even deliver... What a joke is this company! After pressuring them enough, they finally came through and added the line. This process would have taken an additional 2-4 weeks, if it wasn't for me spending 2 full days on the phone... As soon as an alternative comes available, like Wave Broadband, I will switch! Incredibly disappointed with CenturyLink. We had our router crash on Friday. I reached out to customer service through chat and was ping ponged around to over 4 customer service reps who didn't have any interest in helping me. Just canned delayed messages for an amount of time and then transferred to someone else. After over an hour I gave up and called their number. The phone number went much easier and they scheduled someone to come out the following Tuesday and asked me to be ready for the technician to arrive between 8am and 5pm. Tuesday comes around. We had a technician parked in front of our street for about an hour and then he/she took off. Since it was 4:30 I called the customer service number to find out that my appointment had been moved from Tuesday the 13th to the 21st of the month. I know to those agents we are just a call. But we live on a small island in the Puget Sound. How's my wife supposed to work (Office closed due to Covid) and how's my son supposed to keep up with his schooling. Century Link, the best description is internet from hell. In the last 3 months my internet has completely failed 3 times! The first time, after very long holds, the repair person told me I needed a new modem. I needed to find one used as it is not possible to go to a CL store and buy one. I got one and you may have guessed it, it did not work. I called again and they said it was not the modem, but the line. The next day a technician was sent out. Finally, it worked. One week ago my internet failed once again. They said a technician would need to be sent out and the window you must wait, even if the repair is outside the house, is the entire day. In other words, the technician will get there sometime that day. One hell of a big window. Yesterday, I was on hold two times for over an hour. I had to hang up due to other things I do with my life besides being on hold for Century Link. They suggest you use their chat feature, which never functions. You can also easily do the diagnosis of your modem lights and that has never been the problem. Then I used my hotspot from my phone to go online and do tests from there and I got this message repeated several times throughout the day: Sorry! We are having technical difficulty submitting your request. The problem isn't specific to you. It's all on our side. "If this is the first time you're seeing this message, then it may have been a momentary issue. You should try submitting your request again. If you've already tried this, then you can either try again in 30 minutes or chat with an agent." Ah, but not to worry! CL has other options I contacted Facebook and Twitter CL and the upshot was I needed to call Century Link again. That was ever so helpful!!! Sunday morning and Wow! I thought I was about to actually get through and after several rings the phone was hung up by Century Link! Finally, I got through to repair. Did the diagnostics with the tech and of course, a tech needs to be sent and would not get here until Wednesday. I told the tech I would not be here but all necessary, including power and modems, would be outside and I will NOT be present. We will see. My suggestion CENTURY LINK IS AWFUL AND DO NOT SIGN UP with them read more

Worst customer service ever ! While the internet service they provided was adequate for my home needs. The customer service when there was an issue is just unacceptable. From day one of technicians not finishing up the job . Such as leaving the box on the side of the house with the phone lines wide open. Also leaving all the phone wires on the utility pole just dangle at about 6' off the ground. It took many hours and multiple phone calls numerous texting and a month later they finally bundled up the wires and put them out of reach from people. Most recent 12/21/2023. My internet goes out , I chat with someone on line. Set up an appointment 4 days later. All acceptable. And naturally I have to take a day off work. At 8am I get a text saying technician is on their way. 1:58pm I get a text say they are sending a different technician. Not one technician ever showed up or got a hold of me . I messaged/chat with Centurylink after 5pm. They give me a line of BS. The following morning. No email no text message saying or acknowledging any issues. After the first issue on the initial situation I told the representative. If I have any issues with Centurylink. I'm dropping them. And today was the day. Centurylink feels they are too big to fail. I would give 0 stars if I was able to. I have been going thru hell and back with customer service since I ordered my mom a landline we had problems with Xfinity for over a year with her internet and landline with the bill and service hoping to get a little better service it was great when you talk to sales, but it goes down hill after trying to get connected I was told it would be a month before they could connect her landline and would need to be home from 8 to 5 quite a big window but ok waited all day until 430pm and received a recording saying didn't have access so need to make another appointment! Long story short talked to5 people was disconnected twice and put to someone else the other 3 times finally spoke to a Nancy and she seemed like she knew what to do but that was a joke told me she would get ahold the next day between 10 and 1100 am to let me know what they could do. In the meantime I was getting emails that they had me connected and start profile also received a bill for the service that was never connected! Never heard from Nancy! Terrible experience, oh yeah received a text saying they will come 2 weeks later to connect never called to see if that date would work! That text came 2 days after the other fiasco! read more

Their payment system somehow triggered fraudulent activity on my card, so it was declined, and rather than sending me an email so it could be resolved quickly, they turned off my internet. I called to turn it back on, and after 30 minutes arguing with a robot, the person on the line told me you can only submit payment obtiendront over the internet. DO NOT BUY CENTURYLINK INTERNET Bought the router and a 50 bucks a month connection for 150 total. Took 4 weeks for the router to show up so I got charged for a month before being able to use it. Tried to get it activated when it showed up, I was told the jack wasn't working so they could send someone out for $85 bucks + more if they need to fix something and that it would take over a week to get someone out.... in that time I would of had to pay for another months of internet. In all to be able to just use the internet it would of cost me $300+ and that's before I could even tell you if it was good quality. When I was told the service charges to get someone to come out and how long it would be I told them no and promptly canceled. Absolute worst service I've ever experienced. Our internet + phone have been down for weeks. They refuse to repair despite continuing to charge for it. It was 4 days before the first technical even looked at it, who immediate said a MULTI-person crew was needed and rescheduled for next Tuesday. Tuesday no one comes. Wednesday a SINGLE tech comes, looks at it, and says it's too big of a job for one person. He then closes the ticket, despite not fixing the issue. When I call to follow up on the repair, they say Repair can't handle this, you need to create a new ticket with Customer Care and wait another 5 days. They've been sending us round and round, while continuing to charge for phone/internet which don't work. read more

I took half a day off of work to wait for service, but they never showed. I called, and apparently the order was never placed. I HAD AN ORDER NUMBER!!!! The new customer service guy said it would cost me $100 for a tech to come out, or $50 for them to ship a new modem to me ($50 shipping fee?!?!?). I was on the phone getting transferred (including to one rep who sounded like they were just waking up and continued to have background noise) and put on hold for over an hour, then hung up on because the automation decided "call centers are closed, good bye." read more

Their tech never showed up, they say we have a free month but refuse to answer our attempts to contact and will not reactive our account. Their acts have crippled two of us from our remote work jobs and another with his ability to perform a final exam for his nursing course. Way to ruin lives with poor services. read more

There are times where I'd like to be able to pay half my bill before the due date so that when the rest of the bill is due I can pay the other half of my bill to keep me current. Upgraded speed but didn't realize that they had opened a new account. So for two months was billed for two accounts plus some other random charges. Hour and a half on the phone finally got someone who could see both accounts and she assured me cancelling one would not shut our service. Next day no internet - hour and a half on the phone to learn yes they shut off our service even though we still had an active account.
