DIRECTV is the absolute worst cable provider in the history of TV. When you call them for help they disconnect you unless you are calling about paying them. This happened to me 5 times yesterday when my system was seizing up I.e. black picture + intermittent sound. I have replaced their internet module 3 times; each time the task to reboot the system to working took 5 hours; you have to sign in in different ways for each premium channel you are paying for; it takes different passwords and different identity confirmations to make it work properly. In our area DIRECTV has a monopoly on prime, Netflix, YouTube, Disney, you name it; and their website does not work I.e. I cannot sign in without being rejected or terminated. Perhaps some day ( by the turn of the century) DIRECTV will get it that it is actually easier to provide reliable content signal and accessible customer support. Perhaps some smart law firm will take them to task to change their unprofessional conduct; until then expect lots of problems if you have to use them to receive the content you desire in CALIF. read more

Unfortunately, I had a bad time with DIRECTV. We wanted a home phone that plugs into the wall not something that goes through the Internet this day and age you have to be protected and sometimes that means hardwire and things so I went to DIRECTV and I was able to get a telephone, but it had a lot of static in it. The prices were not good at all. I also was not able to get a lot of channels on my television. They said that's due to the dish, I wouldn't recommend DIRECTV but it's good for some people and then boys seemed really nice and helpful. Just wasn't for me. read more

My shut-in brother in Florida was subject to sudden additions of channels he did not order, and then charged after the fact. Bills towered in the hundreds. We wanted to get him on a cheaper plan and Direct TV will not credit him back for the days he won't be on their service unless he had to go into a nursing home. I spent 3 1/2hours on the phone yesterday with the worst customer service, I have ever seen in my life. So many didn't even understand me, they actually hung up on me. They changed my password on my email. Now they tell me I can't get my emails back for a month, because this extension of pacbell.net, was hacked and they can't get it back. So after all that time and at least 6 different people, none of which were American. I walked away with no satisfaction. I am disappointed with this company that my husband actually retired from. They treat you like you know nothing, they yell at you for being so persistent. I wind up with no satisfaction. All medical stuff are on that email. All my subscription that come due. Service with DirecTV is terrible. That's the essence of my review. They get one star because YELP won't let me post a zero-star review. We had our roof reshingled, and the roofers removed the dish. Had an appointment last Monday with DirecTV to replace the dish - but the tech that showed up didn't have the correct ladder. Instead of leaving and coming back with the right ladder, he told me I had to call and reschedule. Next appointment was for last Thursday. Multiple robocalls to make sure I would be home for the appointment, but they never showed. I called the service center and got ANOTHER appointment for Friday. Again, multiple robocalls, and again, no one ever showed up. Called the service center and ended up on the phone for over an hour. Earliest appointment was today (Tuesday). Multiple robocalls, and NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP!! Called the service center again (it's on speed dial now) and was told that the next available appointment will be Thursday. That's TEN DAYS after the first scheduled appointment. Assuming anyone actually shows up, and further assuming that they actually do anything - it will mean that I have had FIVE APPOINTMENTS, each with a four hour window for them to show up. Called to cancel service. My bill increased $10 month for Aug 2020 with no explanation AND has more than doubled in 2 years. I started the service paying $65 a month, my most recent bill was $144. I Was on the phone with the first customer service rep far too long listening to nickel and dime discounts offers. She was hell bent on not allowing me to cancel! finally told her that unless she cut the bill in half I was not interested. She took offense and actually held me hostage for over six minutes claiming I was interrupting her and not letting her speak. She just would not get when I told her I did not think cancellation warranted a discussion of this length. I ended up speaking to a supervisor who defended her but also closed the account in under a minute. My suggestion to Direct TV to hold on to their customers is to rethink: your rates, improve your programming instead of showing the same thing repeatedly AND do not hold your customers hostage. Additionally my advice to consumers is to pass on this service provider and be wary of those who force you to interact with game playing service reps in lieu of email. Congrats Direct for once again NOT handling our appointment. After an HOUR on the phone (where at one point the rep almost proudly said "You've only been on the phone with me for 35mins) they were not prepared to handle what we needed done. This is after we explained the situation to no less than 4 people and NOT ONE, NOT ONE of them got it right. When I posted the picture I was hoping it would be understood that we did not need a new dish, but rather the pole installed for the dish. This was what we had expected and were told would happen last August. Again, guy came out (nice guy) but no one had contacted 811 to ensure they could dig where we needed it. Now we are once again rescheduled for Dec 3rd. I have a feeling by the time this company actually FINISHES something, we may lap a year of dealing with them. We have had DirectTV since 2005. Service, pricing and Tech support was great until AT&T took over. It has steadily eroded since then. The once great US support is mostly gone except occasionally when you might get a US based representative. The big issue we have at this point is that AT&T does not support satellite TV any more and instead promote AT&T Now which was originally when introduced as Direct TV now soon after the takeover. We have not been under contract for several years. When ever we called the retention dept. which is now called the loyalty dept. which is an odd name since they don't have any, there are never any savings available and I'm always told to call next month at the beginning of my billing cycle. We have now gone six months with that slimy excuse. Switching to an internet based service or a plethora of individual streaming service is not an attractive option but if we do go that route, it won't be with AT&T. read more

When I cut the cable early 2021, I signup with Direct TV because they are (or were at the time) the only streaming service that carried Root Sports which is how you watch the Mariners here in Seattle. Unbeknownst to me, Direct TV also opened a second account, without my knowledge, and made unauthorized charges to my credit card for 12 months before I caught it. After a few hours on the phone, the realized what they had done and refunded the most recent three months charges. Beyond that they said my bank/CC company had to make a claim. The bank did so but was limited by their contract with the CC comany to the first three months unauthorized charges. So six months charges remain unrefunded at this point. Direct TV does not dispute that I am owed this money, but I have spent hours on the phone with them and have not received the six months' refund. Every time I call I have to spend an hour explaining the situation, then I am told the person I am talking to is not authorized to make the refund, it has to be "escalated" to someone who can. I've been promised resolution by July 26 and that has not happened. I am filing a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's consumer fraud division. I can't tell you the number of times I called DirecTV's customer service to give them feedback so that they could correct things. Then I got 6-8 calls from 'Account Supervisors' wanting to know why I left (I had already told no fewer than 6 representatives over the course of a week, and sent one email to their customer service). To top it off, DirecTV owed me $6.22. Instead of sending me a check for $6.22, they sent me a pre-paid Visa card with $6.22 on it! What a joke! What was I supposed to go, wander the Earth until I found something that cost exactly $6.22 that I wanted to buy? Your services simply don't deliver the products promised. It's impossible to identify how many times this hasn't worked, but it's safe to say it's been going on for months. I was a loyal customer with DirectTV for 8 years. Our plan was simply an extended basic plan - no movie channels, no sports channels, no ordering movies. Our final bill is $142. It has continued to creep up each month. After numerous calls to customer service, they were not willing to offer anything to keep my business and to lower our monthly bill to save on household expenses. So, yesterday DISH got installed at our home for a savings of over 50%for two years. And now that the DISH serviceman took down the DirectTV satellite dish I have to pay for disposal of it - DirectTV does not want the satellite dish returned. So, buyer beware of DirectTV and AT&T. I called in June and spoke to the loyalty department about extending an offer for another year. They offered the same price ($30 off each month for 12 months). They recorded our agreement. The next two months I was billed the full amount without the discount. In August I called him and asked him about the excess charges. They said that my discount wasn't on the account and never went through. Their resolution was to sign me up for $30 a month for the next six months and that's all they could do. They indicated they were i unable to refund the excess charges as well. I was irate and said the only other outcome apart from giving me the 12 month offer and refund my $58 was just disconnect me. 4 days ago I signed up for the Direct tv now app. After trying it out I am very dissatisfied. You get little for what you pay for and more options are offered with using Hulu, Netflix, Amazon etc. I prepared for 2 months with the understanding I had 7 days to cancel if I was not satisfied. I've used DirecTV for roughly 10 years. Storms can interfere and some charges seen unnecessary but overall, I've been satisfied enough. Generally, because I've been a "loyal" customer and pay my bills on time, I have received discounts on what is normally an inflated bill for the amount of channels I actually use. However, even when accelerated to a department called "VIP" (didn't even know about that one), the most they could do was offer an insulting 7.5 percent discount. When I commented that DirecTV cared more about recruiting new customers than retaining the ones they have, I was "assured" that wasn't true. But their ACTIONS mean a lot more to me than their jargon. Not only is their customer service horrible- but they lie and accused me of being "stupid" because I didnt notice 2 charges for STARS and and Choice Xtra- that they added on without my knowing. I'm surprised by other negative reviews. Direct TV has been wonderful for me. Hardly ever an issue with clear TV, I've had them for over 9 years now and love them. The only trouble I've had was once when century link talked me into bundling through them and then they didn't pay direct tv. Direct TV was so nice about it that they arranged a 3 way call with clink and severed the bundle for me--GREAT customer service. I recently upgraded and am paying slightly less now, and have the wonderful benefit of whole-home DVR, which rocks. They are in beta with on demand as well--hopefully the number of shows will increase there, but I am a happy customer. I pay the entertainment bills for a large retailer here in Seattle and we went with Directv Business 2 years ago. Recently we got error 771 - no signal - and was directed to call the dealer. The supervisor, Tom K., informed us that to send a technician out would be $110/hour, billled for a minimum of two hours. So let me get this straight - if your dish is out of alignment, it will cost you $220 for them to come out and find the signal! When I told him that they provide a service and a subscription and as a company, they should maintain that service, Tom gave me metaphors about buying products from my retailer! They have charged us a cancellation fee even when it was out of our control. We just recently moved to Washington from Nevada. We moved into a house that the rental agency and the HOA won't allow us to put the dish on the house. After talking to customer service, billing and a host of other people, I told them our situation. They would not wave the cancellation fee. I explained to them that they are loosing a customer for life for something beyond my or their control. They still are holding strong and refusing to wave it. So, if I could turn one potential customer, they would loose more money than the fee. There are other options out there beside Comcast services. Direct TV is the answer to this these days. The price is a lot better for one, and you can get more options for less. That seems like a win win to me. If you live in a place you think you're going to move, no problem, they will reinstall for free at the new place. That is an awesome service! If I could 0 stars, I would. And that seems to be a theme here. DirecTV is unresponsive, unethical and provides the worst cable service that I've had (among RCN, TimeWarner and others). Don't bother calling them for help. The add fees to your bill, block credit card payments and answer everything with scripted responses from some "magic book of service." DirecTV claims to have 24 hour support; several times I've tried to call them at around 10pm PST and I get voice recordings saying that I should call back during normal business hours which are daily until 1am. Requests to speak with management and emails to their customer service email address go unanswered other than scripted responses: "thanks for your concern, we have great customer service). I went through DSI TV to get DirecTV set up and I have a hard time reaching them, too. I'm basically waiting until I can disconnect my DirecTV without a huge charge. AVOID AVOID AVOID. read more

Had a terrible experience with not just their call center but also their online chat support resulting in 1 hour 15 minutes wasted, I am more irritated that they just were not listening to what I was asking for and were reading from a card or book. all I wanted to do was to sign up for sunday ticket online, didn't want their direct TV service. I was not able to sign up for an online service based on my credit card's billing address which didn't matter, I was not going to be using the online service from there. However no matter how many different sign up forms or attempts ranging from browser, xbox one, roku, etc it kept denying me based on a credit card and kept trying to get me to sign up for the full package with direct TV. Had Dish for a few years without any problems. A door to door salesman convinced me to switch to DirecTV. They are OK although their website isn't as good as Dish's. For watching TV I'll give them a three or four star. Not great but good enough. I'm giving one star for customer service. They have chat and the phone number. What do you do besides call, hang up and and try for an agent that knows something? I asked an agent this question today. I tried to have faith that these guys would provide a good product and act like a reasonable business. That was a mistake. The product (DirectTv Now) did not work well at all, and it was difficult to use (poor design). But beyond that, when you cancel, they make it 'look' like you cancelled, when in fact you need to do a THIRD click. Evil company. Avoid. Boycott. Life a better life without. read more
