My father and I purchased a Yamaha AV receiver from Video Only. The initial salesperson, Jerold, was helpful--but that's where the good experience ended. The unit we bought was a floor model, which we were assured was in perfect working condition. After months of struggling to get it to work--with help from multiple people--it turned out to be defective (flashing red light, short circuit warning, and a bent antenna). We returned to the store with the receipt, fully aware we were outside the return window. We weren't asking for a refund--just an exchange, repair, or even store credit toward an upgraded model. Instead, we were treated rudely and dismissively by a salesperson named Chris, who repeatedly refused to help and told us to "look it up online" when we asked for help with accessories we purchased from him (banana clips, speaker wire, and Bluetooth headphones). My father is a lifelong audiophile on a limited income, and he's now out $550 for a non-working unit. I work in customer service and would never treat a customer this way. We've been completely ignored after multiple attempts to resolve this through the store. My almost 12 year old TV finally died, yeah I haven't upgraded for so long but finally needed a new TV. I was looking to go to Bestbuy or have it ordered directly from Samsung but it will take about a week to two. I was going to hold out for a Holiday Sale like Labor Day or even Black Friday but watching a half dark tv was bad on my eyes. I called Video Only at Southcenter, always hearing the commercials "You'll be sorry!" and passing by all the time. Gerald picked up the home and to my surprise had two in stock. He went and checked the pricing and called me back after 10 minutes with an Unbelievable deal. I was shocked with the price and thought is this a scam or something lol? Anyway, I agreed on the price and put my name down and also my credit card info. Rushed down to pick it up and it was waiting for me. Brand new in the box! Gerald showed me the tv on the floor and talked about the amazing specs. How prices can be so low and how many tvs they sell. It was pretty wild seeing the whole floor lit up with the lion king movie haha. Transaction was speedy, helped me out and load up my truck and gave me twine to hold down my tail gate since it was kinda long. Another associate, maybe a technician or some random guy looked at the way I put the box on my truck. He mentioned, you should flip it the other way so you won't damage it if you hit bumps. He pleads, then acts like he's doing me a favor by explaining why I don't want that tv (quality guts, excellent picture, highest score from consumer reports-I said I did my homework). Stopped by on a whim to ask if they had the new Sony Bravia line. Before we even started discussing TVs, my toddler loudly announced "I NEED TO POTTY" and the manager stopped mid-opening-spiel to help us get the kid situated and tell us about his grandson. Friendly, welcoming service before we'd even volunteered that we were here to shop. I knew what I wanted and let them know that - the Bravias weren't on the floor yet but they just had them delivered and gave me a great better-than-retail price for a "preorder" and threw in an extended warranty for free on top. For about five minutes of my time I'd secured a new flagship TV for better than big box prices, free delivery, and have a local business to deal with if anything goes south. So the 48 inch Toshiba we bought from Video Only in Tukwila broke down after less than 7 years. Tvs should last longer than that, but we figured okay let's give Video Only another chance. But first we went to Costco to price out TVs. We figured out the brand we wanted. Although we were hesitant to purchase another tv, we decided to visit Video Only a week later. George was the salesman who helped us. So once he showed us the models we were deciding on, we also noticed the one we liked was priced lower than Costco, George stated that Video Only gets the better quality TVs than Costco. George also guaranteed us that if we purchased right now (Saturday), they would deliver on Monday. So forked out 2300.00. George was helpful, and we thanked him. But why the one 1 Star? It went downhill once they delivered, set up, left. After 30 minutes we noticed a black line across the upper section of the screen. The photo I posted shows the black line. So my husband contacted George to inform him of the situation, George said no problem we will change the tv for you. Unfortunately, they are booked, and can't exchange the tv until Wednesday. Keep in mind, my husband took off work just for the delivery, my meeting happened to cancel so I was available. But In order to wait for another delivery on Wednesday, it means one of us has to be home. Which is unacceptable because my husband works 80 hr weeks, and I have trainings all week. So I called video only to talk to a manager, but instead George came on the line. I stated that since they delivered a defective television in the morning, and I told George to make this matter right. We can't take off anytime we want. An hour later instead of calling me, someone from Video Only contacted my husband, who we assumed was one of the managers like Dewey or the other guy I forgot his name. When the guy on the other line was questioning my husband asking what's going on, and my husband had to tell the story again, we thought the store manager would already know what's the matter. My husband said we needed a replacement today. The person on the other end said that it's not their fault, etc..etc..at this point I and my husband we're both frustrated about the situation. And the person on the phone with my husband started laughing at my husband. Keep in mind my husband is a very patient man, not easily rattled. But the guy laughing at him really riled him up. Basically ended up in a shouting match. My husband who he thought was one of the managers was laughing at him stating that he's being unreasonable because there is nothing they can do to rectify the situation until Wednesday. My husband stating he can no longer take off work this week, and that we are going away for the weekend. Guy on the phone being sarcastic stating he hears other voices in the background, and why can't they stay at home for the next delivery. So he's assuming I can reschedule my meetings, or my daughter who was at our home at the time can take off work as well. Ridiculous. The only reason we purchased the tv from George was because he assured us a working set delivered on Monday the only day we are available. So when my husband finally calmed down, he just said fine we will figure out something for you to deliver Wednesday. Prior to hanging up my husband mentioned that I was an Elite Yelper. "Manager" on the other end stated, " are you threatening me?"...what sounded like to us was that he will sue if I write a review. But we'll give him the benefit of the doubt since we didn't hear him clearly. Guess who had to rearrange their schedule to have another tv delivered? So the same big guy Carl, and a different y'all slender guy Cole came to deliver. They came in, set everything up, I showed Carl the photo of the damaged tv, and asked him if that happens. He said yes, but not that fast. What? Seriously!!! We just dropped 2300.00 on a TV that might break down again! I guess we should've bought the insurance! Hindsight! I also informed Carl of the situation of what happened between my husband, and one of the managers at Video Only on the phone, so I asked the names of the managers. After telling Carl what happened, we soon found out it was not a manager, but one of the delivery guys from the other day. Apparently he got overheated regarding the situation, Carl stated that he's not like that, he's not one to get so upset. In other words my husband was not dealing with a manager on the phone, but one of the delivery guys. Even more unacceptable for a delivery guy to laugh while my husband was on the phone with him. Unacceptable for George our salesman to have the delivery guy call us instead of one of the two managers of Video Only. We gave this company a second chance. So far the second set they delivered works, but this will be the last time we give our hard earned money to Video Only. read more

We are moving into our new home so we decided to go crazy on some top line TV's. We bought the newest and were told the best. When we got 2 of the TV"s there was warping in the bottom of the screen. The crew that is doing construction was cleaning up and threw the boxes away. We can live with one of the screens but the other is very warped. We spent over $7,000 with Video Only in Bellevue. Now they tell us they cant do anything because the boxes are gone. It been a few days and these guys are making a lme excuse to not help us replace a faulty screen. BEWARE: If you spend any money with Video Only, consider it gone. They will not refund your money for any reason. And don't just take my word for it; look at other reviews and sites like CitySearch. MY STORY: I've been fighting with these people since August, trying to get them to honor their return policy. I've called, sent certified letters to Peter Edwards (the owner) at the 500 Strander Blvd. location, complained through the Better Business Bureau, asked the State Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection to contact them on my behalf (which it did)... but they refuse to even respond. MY COMPLAINT: I bought a product with which I was not happy and tried to return it. The store/regional manager refused to refund my money BECAUSE I HAD OPENED THE BOX! How is one supposed to decide whether they're happy with a product without opening the box? ANSWER: It's impossible! Their policy says they'll refund your money "If, for any reason, you are unhappy with the equipment you purchase." Not in my experience. Spend your holiday shopping dollars somewhere that will do right by you if there's a problem. This outfit will not. read more

We buy all of our TV's at this place and here are the reasons why... 1. Experienced salespeople. Basically I go to Fry's, Best Buy, and then Video only in the process of buying a new TV. At Best Buy and Fry's, you come across a young salesman usually who is never the same as last time you were there. They aren't pushy, but they usually aren't super knowledgable about all of their inventory either. At Video Only, I always see the same salespeople there because they are commissioned professionals that make a living selling high quality televisions. I specifically have worked with Ken before in the purchase of a TV who not only answered any questions I had in depth but even searched through Consumer Reports to compare all the TV's I was interested in. 2. Deals. You will find that the price is the price at Best Buy and Fry's and obviously they don't give their inexperienced salespeople free reign to start cutting deals in the process of a sale. At Video Only, their commissions depend on selling you that TV and they will allow you to negotiate a deal whether it is free HDMI cables thrown in or $200 off the list price. The first TV I bought there years ago, I even got the guy to throw in a surround sound system with it. Yes the salespeople can be all over you in this place which is the only thing that I would say could lbe viewed as a negative, but I'll deal with that if I wind up with the best TV I can get for the lowest price. read more

Went here knowing I would be buying a TV, but I didn't know which one. Mike was on point in learning me about the world of TV and just how different some of them are. I learned about color and contrast and which TV was the best value for the money. That last part is pretty incredible because Mike did not try to upsell me on anything. Even when I asked about a higher priced TV he said the value wasn't there, the best one was the original one I was looking at. Also, they have all the TVs on display showing the same imagery/video so you really can tell the difference between them. I probably spent 20 minutes in there and got a 55" Samsung + TV stand + Delivery + Setup for under $1k. I was thinking of going to Costco for a TV but the deals here are hard to beat. My boyfriend and I were helping a good friend shop for a new TV and sound system for his new home and when Jim, my boyfriend said, "We have to go to Video Only" I wasn't so sure he was right. We drove to suburbia and upon entering this business I thought, "What the hell..?" It is just NOT a pretty store. At all. But then I laughed at myself because I realized that it IS pretty for people who just want to look at audio equipment and TVs. Plain floors, plain walls, plain plain plain. But the TVs and everything else stand out like sore, gorgeous, glowing thumbs. Sure maybe the wall colors are boring and the floors are too, but people are here for good deals on TVs right? And wall mounts, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, TV stands, stereo equipment and more. So I felt a little silly when I wanted to hate on this place for actually being awesome and focusing on the stuff they actually sell. The sales guy that walked over to help us was also incredibly knowledgeable. It's got to be tough in this day and age when people can access the internet from their smartphones and instantly compare prices. But that actually helped us! We were all ogling over this sexy Samsung TV that was on sale for $949 and on Amazon it was actually still listed at $1450! So not only was the price right, we got to look at it in person and test it out. Then we walked over to the sound systems and when our friend was checking out a sweet Yamaha sound bar, Jim got lost looking at a really nice Bose system. So not only did we end up helping a friend spend some big money on some new goods for his home, Jim and I walked out with a bad ass Bose system that I'm listening to right now. I have purchased all my recent TV's from Video Only and have always had a great experience. I routinely send friends and family to them as they have the best deals. However, my last experience at the Tukwila location; will be my last. I purchased a 42" LED and TV mount for an RV, which I fully stated when I started the purchase. The sales associate; 'Mike' was very helpful and we completed the sale within minutes. He even gave me a deal on the mount. When starting the instal; the mount he sold would not work in the RV as it allowed the TV to slide from side to side as well as the mount covered all of the video inputs. I called and was told to come back down to the store. I drove back down in rush hour traffic to look at different mounts with him and another associate. We settled on a more expensive one that they said would work. I was told on the phone the new mount would be sold at the sale price of the original mount; this was not true and I had to pay $10 more. I wasn't that upset, as I was still getting a good price on the new more expensive mount. Once I returned home and began the installation again, the new mount would not work either with the hardware it came with it. I again called the store and told Mike of this issue. At this point I was not very happy and told them as much... I was told to again come back to the store and exchange the mount or TV. I told them I would not be making a third trip in the same day. That I would go to Home Depot and buy the hardware needed to complete the instal; but would I would like a discount on the purchase and the overall experience I had with Video Only that day. Mike agreed and said he would talk to his manager and would call me back. Ten minutes later he called back and said there was nothing they could do; that his manager said they were making no money on the deal so I should just bring it all back. I told Mike I did not have time to return to the store and bring the items back and start from scratch. I stated I was disappointed in this response; as I had been a loyal customer for years. And that this experience would be my last. I wanted him to relay this to his manager.... I have not heard back from Video Only and I am sure I will not. They are a good place to get a good deal, if you have done your research on the TV you want. Customer Service, however, is very lacking. And management apparently cannot be bothered to correct issues or making customers satisfied. read more

My last major television purchase was from this exact store in 2007--a TV that lasted me until last Wednesday. When I think about how many computers, cell phones, game consoles, etc. I've had since then, getting eleven solid years from a consumer electronic device is a pretty good run. With this in mind, on Thursday I left a quick question on their Facebook page about how they would go about price matching a model I had researched and found in stock at their competitor. I was expecting a leisurely, email-like reply within the day. I was pleasantly surprised that I got an answer from the page admin within 15 minutes, and it became a brisk chat that resulted in a great price and an informal appointment that evening with Sam, the sales manager. I arrived at the store and Sam had the TV set aside for me, and along with the price break, offered a compelling discount on a warranty, a wall mount and an extra long HDMI cable. All for what I would have paid for just the TV at the other place. The whole process was effortless, and it's entirely due to the responsiveness of the FB admin and Sam that I went from casually researching a TV to taking that TV home in the space of an afternoon. I know I bought a high quality TV at an extremely great price. I thought they had a great selection on TVs too. I find it interesting that some other fellow yelper's had a difficult time with their return policy. My sales guy told me straight up that they don't do cash refunds only store credit. Tip #1: Haggle. No seriously, haggle the price down. Yes, haggle even if it has a sticker with a "sale" price. No I'm not joking. Moving along, store is very minimal and "almost" true to their name, it's Video only as in a bunch of LCD/LED/Plasma, maybe 10-12 tv stands, one or two rows of speakers/receivers. Sales people are so so, prices are actually pretty decent. It seems they check prices on a daily basis and compare them with internet prices as well. They do know prices and will pricematch to those lower prices (and beat them if you follow tip #1). Bought a tv and read the terms and conditions of the sale. Beware, read it carefully. While the store allow you to return items, they only give you store credit if you open the item. If there is a manufacture defect, then you get to replace the whole unit with the same. So bottom line is, make sure you want that model before you buy it here! I didn't have any issues with the tv I purchased and didn't have the need to have it service or returned. Overall, good but a -1 for their crappy return policy. read more

He was very helpful over the phone and said he might be able to offer a discount on my old TV if we brought it in.
