Complaint registered today against Xfinity, owned by Comcast:…read moreDescription of complaint: Comcast/Xfinity billing is confusing to say the least. Current bill due as of 8/1/2024. They bill a month in advance. Yesterday, I cancelled that plan which should erase the $206 normal charges. I am making a payment of $93.37 tomorrow, which I am not challenging. There may be a residual balance of under $25, but they are telling me that I will owe $152 and change after tommorow's payment, and this is part of the amount I am challenging. I have paid $250 on 7/4/2024 and with tomorrow's payment, that is $343 in one month!!!! On my last complaint to the BBB, they also told me they would credit the $100 tech visit on 3/24/2024 which I was told several times by the tech that actually came to my house that I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED, so this $100 credit did not drop off. I was also told twice by two different chat discussions subsequent to that date. So the total amount that I should be credited would be $252 and change. The only reason for two stars is because of the hours I have had to spend challenging their puzzling billing "rules," in which, after I cancelled all TV expenses, the gave me bare internet FREE for one year. I am finally switching to a digital antenna, and getting a smart TV. To their credit, Xfinity's internet is EXCELLENT in quality and speed, even at 50Mbps. Quite simply, $230 a month for TV and internet is TOO MUCH, even if you are fairly well off. Since 2006, I have paid Comcast some $40,000 in services, taxes, fees and miscellaneous "other" charges. Not any more.

I don't know what that means, but no one responds after 5pm on some days. If you leave a message after hours they don't return the call. I called the other evening and the line was forward to a number in area code 610 that would not take messages. We were told how great it would nbe to be sold to WAVE because of their greater resources. One would think that after a year they would at least have Wave respond to support. Another interesting thing. We had to enter all our account information from Cascade Link's invoices into the new system. Why do I need to transfer my account? Service is generally good, but if there is a problem, there is no one to respond outside of business hours. That is just not acceptable for an internet business!

The speed is great and was way faster and more consistent than Comcast. BUT all of that is negated by occasional shutdowns of internet where you can't even call customer support! Happened today and I'm sad to see this is a frequent occasion. Of all days, it happens when I'm working from home. Now I got to make up the hours on the weekend...awesome. In Cap Hill, if you want to pay $10/month less for reliable internet, go with Comcast. I had them last month, thought I'd try out CascadeLink for it's marginally faster connection, but will surely be returning to Comcast. Comcast has its own problems, but at least I can rely on internet working when I need it. tldr: Do NOT sign up with the service unless you're ready for frequent surprise internet shut downs. Comcast is more reliable, cheaper, currently offering around 70 Mbps for $40/month vs. Cascades 30Mbps for $50/month

This has happened so frequently, I can't help but believe this is the way the Customer Service Representatives are actually being trained. If they have a leadership problem, they have a management problem if they have a management problem, subordinates are not capable of providing service - does our left on their own to be rude, abusive, or whatever else they might choose. Century link had a monopoly for many years in areas where there were no other options such as my geographical location. I am now a happy Starlink Customer, paying the same price as Century link, getting six times the speed, better latency, & uninterrupted service, with friendly supportive CSR's who don't speak to me rudely, or otherwise abuse me as a customer.

I'd recommend Shawn to anyone: his knowledge, efficiency, customer engagement, and outcomes…read moredelivered are outstanding. He's a networking and IT superstar. Costs: If you are upgrading your home network or other capability, and need to buy new/more gear, Shawn doesn't charge a markup on the equipment. In fact, once he's designed your solution he will provide you with links to the exact products required and let you buy them directly from the vendors if desired. Or he'll buy them himself and present you with the receipts. Hourly rate: With the skills Shawn possesses, his hourly rate is substantial. And it should be. However, you can still bring your project in at a very reasonable cost PROVIDED you can be a smart customer. By this I mean you must be clear on the capabilities you want to achieve--or at least be able to listen to Shawn describe what's possible and then make rapid decisions. If instead you want a lot of customer education, Shawn can do that too because he knows an immense amount about IT and can communicate effectively. However, it's a bit like paying for a neurosurgeon to teach you about the types of aspirin available to treat a headache. That doesn't make sense; get a nurse instead! In my case, my wife and I work from the house. My goals were to increase the reliability of our home network. We wanted better maintainability (so when the internet goes down I can rapidly identify the problem and fix it). We wanted better network security. I wanted to add a home security camera because of problems with car prowls, etc. And finally, I wanted to move our networking gear out of our super-hot furnace room to a cooler and cleaner location. This was a lot. Other vendors had previously failed to come up with an affordable solution--or any solution at all. Shawn showed us how to do it for a very reasonable sum. Once we had a plan, I was able to control costs by getting a carpenter friend to open up the wall and pull wires through to the new location for the gear. Shawn also kept costs down by allowing me to provide extra hands as he mounted gear on the wall, connected all of our wireless access points to the new console, etc. These steps all require two people. Shawn was willing to let me help and he even maintained a high level of wit and good-natured ribbing throoughout the long day of work. In sum: great outcome, great satisfaction, great price. Photo: New network system including: cable modem; device handling routing, security, network management, and recording of camera images; 24-port switch; and backup power supply.

I contacted Alee with HiTek Telecom to get a quote on a complete network job for my home. Not only do my spouse that I work from home, but I also do a lot of photography and video that I transfer back-and-forth on my network and into the cloud. I was tired of poor and drop connections with my consumer level Wi-Fi system. In addition, I wanted a local security camera system that I can control without relying on a cloud service. After receiving a quote and agreeing on the scope of work, I scheduled the installation. Alee came out on time on the date scheduled and we walked through the plan of installation and confirmed what all my needs were. Alee and his team worked through the day and completed the install job in an incredibly professional manner. The installation and the cable runs, and all of the final product was exactly as described. After the install, Alee walked me through downloading all of the software that I needed, how to access and navigate the system, how to navigate and operate the security cameras, and ensure that everything was working properly. To be sure, this was a relatively large install for a residential application. I wanted ethernet drops in every room of my house, a new professional grade network cabinet, in-ceiling WIFi network, and a new suite of security cameras. I couldn't have asked for a better end product. I am quite pleased with the attention to detail of the install and making sure everything was perfect, workmanlike, and care was taken in my home. Alee came back out to adjust a couple of things for me after the fact and install an additional camera. Again, he was on time on the scheduled day. The workmanship was just as good and the communication has been stellar throughout. I truly can't recommend HiTek and Alee enough. Top-notch product and top-notch service.

I wonder if Centurylink aka Lumen Technologies even cares about providing certain types of old school service, like landline connections anymore. According to The Motley Fool, the corporation's struggling to turn a profit, which would explain a lot. So, here my Centurylink aka Lumen Technologies story ends. We cancelled our landline service yesterday after 24 years, so long ago the company was then called Qwest. That meant our home phone number, which was primary contact number for all business, medical and other accounts had to be deleted from all those records. And I tell you, with some accounts that was not easy. So it's 5G wireless service only for us from now on. But I want to re-emphasize how truly poor Centurylink's service continues to be. Our landline was mostly down for about two weeks which is why we finally cancelled service. BUT, both strangely and telling, during the sporadic times we got a dial tone and could both call out and receive calls, every single incoming call was from auto dialers using spoofed numbers. Think about that. The service is down and on the limited days it comes back up, the only phone calls are from scammer auto dialers. No friends or family. No prospective customers for our home-based business. No physicians offices. Just the scammers. So along with unreliable service that more than provided justification for cutting the cord, so to speak. Since we paid our final bill, Centurylink still owes us money for the downed service time. Once again I'd filed a complaint with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, which is just one of thousands. But they'll ensure we get a full refund for lost service, but it could take a few months.
