I'm giving 2 star s because, from a technology standpoint, they offer a decent internet service. I mean, it's not better nor worse than any other cable provider. Sometimes it goes down, but not too often. But their billing is disguising. In a few years, they raised my internet price from $40 to $170. Apparently, their billing support is located somewhere in India, because reps can barely speak comprehensible English. When I called their billing first time - they told me "I'm using too much data" (no unlimited internet in 2025!), so they charge me $50+ / month for data usage, but, as a courtesy, they will limit my bill from 170 to 120. I had to call them few times, and the only thing helped is mentioning that Starlink offers unlimited internet for the same $120. Even then, their rep was either unable doing basic math (something like $65+$25 = $90), or unwilling doing so. Eventually, after a half of an hour of yelling at a rep, I had my price lowered to the same $120 for an unlimited 1 GBit internet - on a condition I will return their modem and router. Unless you have a personal dislike of Elon, consider Starlink. Astound is absolutely the worst rip-off I ever experienced. read more

Would love to love this. When it works, it's great, but service is extremely unreliable. Multiple tech visits, switching different modems, and multiple homes in our neighborhood are having the same issue with random drops during the day. Nobody can figure it out. So I pay $120 a month (new customers pay $40 and get a free modem) for service. And good luck calling phone support. It's AI that remotely resets your modem, tells you to go online for any other help, and hangs up on you. And if you DO go online and activate chat, and wait over an hour for support, the chat agent will again reset your modem. What happens then? You're kicked out of the chat. It's a nightmare. I just want internet. I'm happy to pay for it. But I run a business from home and this isn't a reliable provider. read more

Don't get tricked by their pricing as they will add on installation fee and infrastructure fee onto your bill, which isn't listed in their terms of service agreement. After these fees, even Comcast would be a better deal than Astound. They have mis-charged me that took months to resolve. Then they decided to charge my phone line 4x times for the same billing cycle for no reason. Of the 4x charges within the same billing cycle, two were for $20 a month and two were for $40 a month. I truly don't understand what is going on. If you would like to brush this off as just a disgruntled customer, go check their other reviews for their horrible service and unethical business practice. Unethical business practice: They are asking their techs who drives all across town doing the laborious work of splicing cables and troubleshooting service issues to provide a rating on the Google Review page. To their service department's credit, these techs are amazing as they are knowledgeable and professional. However, you will realize that most of the five star reviews given to Astound are for the techs with the mentioning of the techs' names. Do not be fooled, techs are 5-stars, but Astound as a company and ISP is trying to mask their failing grade with these all-stars technicians. Tips: - Check the Google Reviews to see if the reviews are for Astound as an ISP or for Astound's technicians. - Check the various service such as downdetector.com and you will realize that Astound has really bad stability and is not worth saving $3 bucks per month over. read more

Like all the other users have mentioned, the discounted price for high speed internet is disguised with unspoken prices and charges. I had no problem with the internet service itself---the transparency for hidden charges is just nonexistent. Here are a couple instances to look out for: 1. Reduced price for autopay is only possible through a checking account, else there is an additional $9.95 charge per bill. 2. Setting up the service can be tricky depending on the status of your previous service. If there is any technical issues on their end that a technician has to visit in person, it'll be in your bills even if the customer service promises nothing would be charged and you have no proof of that. 3. When moving out date does not match their billing cycle, you are up for a full month of charge. 4. If any payment is processed unsuccessfully, there is $25 charge on your bill that you need to argue to try to remove it. 5. Be warned that when moving you either have to go without service for your last month of living somewhere or time it to move out exactly on your astound cycle end day which is different than your billing day. They will charge you for an entire month that you don't need service because they "can't do anything about it". I am SO done with these *censored.* First, my bill skyrocketed. I am paying close to $200 a month for the same service I once payed less than $70 for, before my provider was bought out by this company. Same plan, same cable lines, and a price point made to squeeze blood from stones. But tonight took the cake. Internet went down. No reason. No outage. I checked. So I called. First the automated system tried to help by resetting my modem. When it couldn't do it, it said it would connect me to a customer service rep and hung up on me. TWICE. So on call THREE I just asked it to connect me to a customer service rep directly. As you do when your internet is down. So their machine put me on hold. FOR THREE HOURS. No lie, no exaggeration, THREE HOURS. Who in their right mind understaffs that badly on a Saturday night? In the meantime I asked a techie friend (as in, this is his literal JOB, not Billy-Bob who took one coding class in middle school) to help me troubleshoot, WHILE STILL ON HOLD. And troubleshoot we did. Checked the cables, rebooted all the things, did pings and checked the ipconfigs, and all the other stuff that's way over my head. And everything we could find said my system was perfect. It was doing everything it was supposed to do. The issue was on their end. And again, no outages in my area. At all. It's like they turned off my internet for funsies. Then, suddenly, after I missed my online writing group, my online gaming group with friends (Saturdays are the only time I can see them), and it's pretty much bedtime--poof! Internet! AND I AM STILL ON HOLD. Three. *Censored*. Hours. THREE. I would rather--and I can't believe I'm saying this--switch to Xfinity. Sure, they're crap, but at least someone bloody well ANSWERS THE PHONE. Crap customer service is far better than AI bots and the *sonic attack* that is Astound's hold system. If I heard Mr. Robot Voice thank me for my patience and loyalty one more time (on loop, literally 20 seconds between automated messages), I was gonna burn something down. I am not joking when I say their hold system seems custom designed to cause people to leave the hold queue. It was meant to aggravate me, and it worked WELL. I do want to leave. I want to leave this whole company and never deal with them again. Not sure what I will do now as choices are sparse on the ground where I live. But I am (thankfully) planning a move soon. So if there was a three hour wait due to calls coming ONLY from the West Coast (as it was late and the rest of the country was either in prime partying time or bedtime), WHAT WERE ALL THESE PEOPLE CALLING ABOUT? What could possibly have been so wrong that half the west coast was ALSO willing to wait 3+ hours on the phone for help? Pop quiz: When on an insanely long hold for a minor issue or one that can be addressed later, do you A) hold, or B) call back later? Yeah, I call back, too. So, by Astound logic, either the ENTIRE west coast was in deep crisis with their service--which ain't a good look, Astound--or they had just criminally understaffed their customer service line. Or, worse, replaced them with AI, which is why only chat bots, Facebook, and Twitter-X can give customer assistance now. But hey, thanks for the impersonal and unhelpful response there, Astound. I talked to an Astound representative about a low price deal (for life) with high performance internet, as I was considering cheaper alternatives for ISPs. While the representative was initially prompt with their responses, they scheduled a date and time range to install the router and modem, but no one showed on the designated date. I wasted half of my day waiting for someone to show up. I contacted the representative, who did not initially respond to my message (unlike the first time we spoke). When I called, they sent me to voicemail (the phone ring went to voicemail mid ring, meaning that it was deliberate) and then texted me that they'll call back. Over an hour later, they called me, hung up after a couple of seconds, and when I tried to call them back, they sent me back to voicemail again. Another hour goes by, they text me saying they can come over and install the devices. By this point, they disrespected my time and displayed poor communication skills. Their statements are so basic you don't even know what you are getting and when you call them they act like they are doing you a favor when they comply with the service you are paying for. Had them install Poly Rove and Poly edge phones at 8 our locations in June. The staff who helped me out with what equipment we needed were very helpful. But once the phones were installed, it has been a nightmare. I've wasted so many hours on the phone with different customer services reps trying to fix our dropped phone call issues and it hasn't gotten better. Would rate lower than 1 star if possible. Absolutely the worst experience I've had with an internet provider. When we initially signed up, we were told our at-home installation kit would arrive within 3-5 business days. After a week without receiving it, I called back and was told there was a mistake in the system and that it was never shipped, but ensured me that it would be shipped out that day and received by the end of the week. Mind you, I have a young child with disabilities that require a reliable wireless/internet access, which I explained to the agent. The week passes and still no package from Astound. I called back again, for the third time, and was told that I did not confirm the equipment and that it still hadn't been sent out. This both confused and frustrated me, since I'd already spoken to 2 different agents. I explained again the importance of reliable WiFi connection for our child's devices, and that I'd at that point already maxed out and was paying extra through my cell phone provider to maintain a hotspot to keep their devices running. I was told it would be another 3-5 days business days for delivery regardless, at which point I asked to speak to a supervisor. After being put on hold for nearly an hour, I was told that they had a courier that they contacted who would had picked up the equipment and would definitely be delivering the equipment the next day, and that a supervisor would also be contacting me within 24 hours. Another 24 hours pass, and still no equipment or call. I call back again, and am told that it still has not been shipped. At this point, I am livid and ask them if I can cancel my service. At this point, the agent lets me know that they can have a technician out the following morning to install our equipment. (Why that wasn't an option on any of the calls before, I'm not sure). Anyway, the technician was on time and great, and had the internet/WiFi up and running very quickly. That evening, however, we experienced our first outage. I power-cycled the modem/router, and was able to get the WiFi back up and running. Mind you, the service was extremely spotty (I was unable to take a work video call on the internet service itself, even though we paid for the highest speed - 1GB, and had to use my cell service or hotspot for any video calls), but it kept our kid's devices connected well enough so I didn't contact them. About a week later, we experienced another complete outage that was unable to be resolved by power-cycling. I contacted Astound to see what was going on, and was told that it would be 4 days before they could have a technician out to diagnose the issue. I explained my frustration, as I'd already waited over 2 weeks to even receive the service and that there would be another half-week wait, along with the importance of reliable service for our child and that I'd already spent over $100 in hot-spot overages that month to keep things running. They continued to insist there was nothing they could do, and that I just simply had to wait 4 days. I had to wait to speak with a supervisor to even cancel my service at that point. 1) We were a loyal customer of Grande/Astound from 2005 to 2024 close to 20 years 2) During this time, they had upgraded their network, changed downlink and uplink throughputs as well as pricing several times. However, no one had contacted us for any upsell or any communications whatsoever. Every time we had contacted them regarding other matters, we were told that our business customer rep was changed and that was the reason no one contacted us. 3) This happened several time and every time we called, we were not updated for any throughput or price changes. The story has always been the rep was changed and that is the reason 4) in the last few communications, we were promised that our new rep will contact us and yet no one did 5) We finally escalated this and our overpaid amount for the same services amounted to several ten of thousands of dollars. Basically we were paying the same amount since 2005 for the same throughput 6) The executives at Grande finally waived the balance of $306.93 7) We stayed with Grande for a few more months until we realized that Grande business customer reps never contact their business customers. At that point, we decided to switch because 20 years of overpaying was enough for us. This was to collection agency which surprised us as this was resolved 2 years ago. worst Experience with Astound Broadband Powered by Wave (Oak Harbor, WA) I started using Astound Broadband in April 2024 based on an advertised plan of 1 Gigabit internet for $60/month. I agreed to the promotion and activated autopay to have $10,00 discount. My first bill was $232.02 due to taxes and installation fees. * After that, I was charged $73,03 paying $63.03/month, with autopay * It was all good -- until March 2025, when a serious issue began. Problem:1 Account "Restarted" Without My Consent In March 2025, my internet stopped working. I called Astound, and the agent asked me to wait five minutes -- and the internet came back. Two hours later, I received an email saying: "Thank you for being a new customer. Your first bill is $143.36." I never canceled or restarted my service. I never moved. I simply reported an outage. When I called to report this error, the next agent admitted the previous representative restarted my service by mistake, triggering new pricing with fees and installation. I made it clear I never asked for this. The agent said, "I can't undo it, but I can apply a discount." Problem 2: Autopay Discount Stopped Working Next, autopay stopped applying the $10 discount. I had to call again. This time I spoke to a supervisor and she assured that the mistake is brought up to higher departments and would be fixed. In another call, one of the agents suggested that I buy my own modem/router to save the $30 rental fee. I agreed, and despite being unemployed after leaving the Navy in February 2025, I invested in my own setup. After switching equipment, my speeds dropped drastically -- even audio wouldn't load. A technician came to my house and said my modem was too old (even though I had been told it was compatible). I followed his advice and purchased a TP-Link Archer AX55, which resolved the speed issue. I assumed everything was fixed and expected my bill to be around $35/month with the rental fee removed. Problem 3: Unexplained Charges Continue On May the bill was $35.08, which seemed right. But then in June 2025, my bill jumped to $51.69. I called again. Agent Lisa refused to let me speak to a supervisor and insisted the bill was correct. She claimed I was on a $99 "Bundled Services" plan and was getting a discount. But I never signed up for a $99 bundle -- I only ever wanted the $60/month 1 Gig internet, as advertised and as I always had on the bills since year ago. Conclusion: Ongoing Billing Errors, No Resolution Since March, I have called over 16 times, spent hours on the phone, explained the situation to different agents, and still have no resolution. I've been mischarged, misinformed, and treated as a "new customer" because of a mistake I never caused. I strongly do not recommend Astound Broadband. This experience has been exhausting, unfair, and deeply disrespectful. Mistakes happen -- but I should not be paying more for a service I never asked to be changed or restarted. Astound was charging me $60 a month for cable internet only and then bumped it to $90 per month. A salesman for Ziply stopped by and offered $40 per month for fiber for a year and then $70 after that. I called Astound and said their pricing didn't pencil out and I would leave if they didn't lower it back to $60 or less. The customer service lady said she couldn't do any better than $90 and to call when I was ready to disconnect and was actually quite rude. The day after I canceled, the Astound customer retention department called and asked if I would come back for $30 a month and they mail a request to come back at $30 every couple of weeks. Figure out a better customer retention plan people. They'd just have me back at $90 in 6 months. Not happening. I was perfectly willing to stay at $60. read more

They're the only broadband provider in my area, and it really feels like they treat their existing customers like they have no value because they know we don't have a choice. I signed up for a plan advertised as $20/month for 6 months, with free installation and a $100 gift card. Sounds great on paper, but I ended up paying $175+ in just 2 months due to hidden charges, poor communication, and misleading policies. Installation Charges: Was told by both the technician and pamphlet that installation was free, but got charged. Support later claimed a promo code was needed -- never mentioned upfront. Autopay Terms Buried in Fine Print: You need to set up bank account autopay within 30 days to get the discount. This info was hidden deep on page 4 of the billing statement, not shown during account setup or onboarding. Bounce & Late Fees for Payments That Never Failed: I added my bank account and payment was marked "processed," but next cycle showed late + bounce fees. My bank confirmed Astound never initiated any transaction. Support refused to accept fault. Lost $100 Gift Card: Due to their billing error, I was marked a "defaulter" and denied the promo gift card. No Refund on Cancellation: I canceled on Day 1 of a new billing cycle and was told I'd be charged for the full month regardless of usage. No pro-rating, no exceptions. Customer Service is a Joke: Every call ends with "it's in your billing statement." Reps often give conflicting or incorrect info -- like being told I wouldn't get autopay benefits anymore, only to see them applied later by chance. No accountability, just copy-paste responses. Astoundingly Bad Incompetent customer service. It took four calls to get my internet service activated: the initial call plus three additional calls. With each follow-up call, the reason for the delay changed. Astound then sent out a technician who told me that the problem was not with my fiber-to-home setup but a failure by Astound to turn on my Internet. I was without internet service for over three days. Billing bait-and-switch. When I signed up for 1 GB internet service with Astound, I was told over the phone that I would have an initial rate of $25/mo. plus fees & taxes for six months and then $55/mo. thereafter. But their first bill charged me $55/mo. When I called customer service about the error, the rep said she could not change my rate, only reduce my speed to reduce my rate. When I pointed out to her that their website currently advertised 1 GB service for $45/mo. with the first month free, she said she couldn't offer me that rate because the website offer did not reflect what she saw in her system. The internet service itself, once established, has been fine so far. But if you decide to conduct business with Astound, be sure to document the offer you see online so that you have evidence to report to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should Astound not give you the rate you were quoted. read more

Unfortunately this is the only cable company I have available to me or I would axe them immediately! Our service was already all set up in this residential home from prior occupancy and we just had to set up our service. Well we move in and get things set up and paid and long behold nothing works. Did everything told to according to automated system to no avail. Customer service could not fix so went in and new box given and still nothing. Internet and tv will not work. Customer service no help and completely rude, incompetent, condescending, and unprofessional. This was a supervisor I talked as they gave me an appointment for someone to come out in 10 days to fix problem as I was outraged because I am disabled with No transportation and my phone is supposed to be hooked up with their service as well. This was explained as this leaves a disabled individual with mo means to call out for help if a medical emergency arises. She did NOT care whatsoever and was so rude and condescending about the entire situation. I am Autistic. I read their whole supposed customer promise and it is a complete joke! I am on phone now on different day trying to get through and of course after putting in info I have been on hold for 24 min! If you have ANY other cable options I beg you to choose them!
