I see a lot of reviews on here about only locals being welcome, I just want anyone reading this to know, I was born and raised down the street from the Central, and the service still sucks. It's a roll of the dice with the food typically. I understand the new owners are striving for better food, but the least they could do is get rid of the terribly rude waitress. Whenever I go, I'm friendly, I tip very generously, and I bust the table myself to be helpful but the younger gal is always rude. The straw that broke the Camel's back for me with her was the time she kicked my friend out as we sat down because she didn't want my friend's service dog in the bar. I understood that she didn't want the animal inside (despite it being legal to have it) but she was incredibly rude, not to mention the beer she served me had a large silverfish floating on the top. Now IF someone talks me into going, if she's there, I leave and spend my time at the Pine Room instead. Hope this is somewhat helpful! read more

Growing up in Burns, I had never eaten the Central's food. Recently, I was venturing looking for new things to try from some of our local restaurants, and I am not joking when I say the Central changed my life. I started out getting the steak sandwich, which is always cooked amazing with the mushrooms and fries also being great, making it one of my go-to's. Recently, I was told about their nachos. This is only a weekend thing, and I am being completely honest when I say I have eaten these nachos every single weekend for the past month. The service is very good, everyone always friendly when I go in to get my food. We even call in huge orders here in work and they never fail to deliver delicious food, our orders are always accurate, and they never have bad attitudes about us calling in 7+ meals. If someone were to ask me my favorite place to eat in Burns, I now do and will continue to tell them that they need to go to the Central, and make sure they try everything on the menu. I am even amazed at how much variety they have on their menu as well as how it is all homemade. They have everything from burgers, steaks, sandwiches, pizzas, etc. I am still working on trying everything the Central has and I will definitely not stop eating there anytime soon. read more

As an out of towner I was just passing through, but being treated like shit and refusal of service, regardless of our inebriation level, made me never want to come back to this watering-down-piece-of-shit, again. And, no, we were not drunk. Just ordered a drink that was beyond their alcohol comprehension level. Yes, we can drink that in two hours, and yes we did already call a cab. It is a bar that makes some basic foods, like pizza, hot dogs and other deep fried stuff. Sunday's special was spaghetti. We found the barman to be friendly. The decor is dark wood, no windows, one large LCD TV, a non-adult section at the entrance for dining with the kids. read more

Almost missed this hidden gem but finally found the door and proceeded right through the swinging doors to the bar to watch the NBA Finals. Low key country music, plenty of seats at the bar and microbrews on tap. Average Joe prices for good beer and good pizza. Can't be beat!!! read more

Bacon Swiss Burger was delicious. The bartender, I forget her name, was a sweetheart. Check it out if you're in the area.

Had the beer sampler of their taps (see pictures). I was with a large crowd, about 20, and food came out in waves thanks to Amber, Kay, Rob, and Patty. The best way, since there were 6 children running around the front room. We got a lot of drinks (gin and tonic with tanqueray was good) and they were all well done. Not a place to expect a fancy, smoke Manhattan, but you'll get some good food and the prices are 1/3 what I pay at my local bars. I had the loaded grilled cheese and it was good. Maybe use an avocado spread instead of pieces of avocado. But flavor-wise, it was nice. The rest of my group had the loaded grilled cheese, the lumberjack burger, chicken wings, grilled chicken dinner, pepperoni pizza, bacon cheeseburger, and the mushroom swiss burger. All good food, and HUGE portions. Cooked well and service was nominal. It is better for the locals, but worth the stop. Beware of certain bartenders, Vicky is rude and inattentive. Be prepared, she is the night bartender. Jessica is cool. Kay is good. Laurie is good. Theres some new faces that I didn't know so no comments for them. Rob (Thing 2) and Nikki are my favorite cooks here. The other 2 I'm not sure about since they've never been there when I have; Rob (Thing 1) and Harold. Patty, the owner, cooks, bar tends, and bar-backs too. I'm sure you will come across her at some point. They've done a good job with the new menu and the quality since she bought it, which is nice. read more

Long review, had a lot of time waiting for service to write it. Been in here a couple of times, was recommended by a local. The place is really busy, probably the best place in Burns. I really like Burns, people are so friendly, even if "you aren't from around here". Way nicer than Portland where live most of the time. So that said, this place has trouble with service. And cooks. My Reuben Sandwich was weird. Parts of it was cold but the pastrami and bread were so good! Both nights had to beg for my second beer. Second night thought sitting at the bar would help. Nope. Writing this while I wait a loong time, enough to drink a beer and also the second that I had to wait for. Hoping the broasted chicken is. Ok. Giving them a solid three stars where I would probably give them a one if it was somewhere else. Owner? Where are you? Asleep at the wheel? There are ~some good people there but it appears you are short handed. How about showing up and pitching in? Paying more? The place is busy. Might be worth putting in some effort. Probably is the best place in Burns. How about making it live up to it's potential. BTW, love the taxidermy. Edit: the broasted chicken was greasy, could hardly eat it. The potato was great though! Great place for a hometown feel! Country-style with great country music, saloon-style doors, and taxidermy animals on the wall. Dinner section and bar section (you must be 21 to enter bar section). Keno and sports on TV. We ordered the philly cheese steak with a green salad and the all-meat medium pizza (sausage, pepperoni, bacon, and Canadian bacon). All were very good! Salad was just shredded lettuce with dice tomatoes and black olives, but good. This came on the same plate as the philly. Philly was good but a little dry. Came with Swiss cheese, peppers, and onions. Pizza was delicious! Just the right amount of crispy! 8 pieces let us have leftovers. A lot of great options on the menu- all reasonably priced. I've had the pizza here, (which is supposed to be the house specialty) 3 times. Each time the crust has been over-baked, and the toppings nearly raw. I ordered a steak sandwich once, which was bland, though passable. The problem was that they forgot the accompanying french fries. I was able to flag down the waitress/bartender, and she said she'd get some, but never did. When she arrived with our bill, I told her I never received the fries, so she took fifty cents (Yes, fifty cents) off the tab. I was laughing too hard to complain. Lastly, I've never felt particularly relaxed here, as there is a disconcertingly high percentage of the patrons who seem to be itching for a fight. I wouldn't necessarily call this place a 'dive', because I've been to bars that are, in fact, dangerous dung-holes, but it is the kind of place where, on a Friday or Saturday night, you sip your beer with one eye peeled, lest you have to vacate your seat to accommodate a sudden round of fisticuffs. read more
