Burns,OR May 2026 We came on a Wednesday night and there were only three other tables that were occupied. At 6:15 all the tables are filled. The restaurant is very clean. The floors, the food, the tables, the chairs. I am very impressed. My husband and I ordered a half chicken salad to share and we also split the chicken Alfredo. The Chicken salad was large. I found it hard to believe it was only a half portion. The salad came with a very large portion of shredded torn, hot chicken. The lettuce was Romaine and it had diced tomatoes with shredded cheese slices of cucumbers, large slices of red onion, and croutons. It was supposed to come with a sliced egg, but there was none on the salad. The chicken Alfredo was a very large portion. There was more chicken on the salad then in the chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce tasted smoky. I swear there was a half a pound of pasta in that dish. Like all the other portions of food it is very large. They serve fresh bread with butter to the table. The bread is delicious. The waiter said they make it here. We were offered dessert but we chose you to decline. They have a display case of three different kinds of pies, bars, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and more. My only complaint is that the booths are so far from the table. I had to eat at the end of my bench. But I love that the backs of the booths are so very tall. You can't see your neighbor behind you. I was finished eating and pushed my plate away. My husband was still eating his food. The waiter came up to see if we needed anything else. As we were talking to him, an older woman came by interrupted our conversation with the waiter and started to take all of our plates. My husband was not finished eating, but since she piled the plates on top of each other, we were now done. Perhaps in the future, she should ask if we are finished before removing them from the table. The staff is friendly. The food is ginormous and delicious. This is definitely a place if I were passing through I would stop and eat again. I give this restaurant 4.7 stars. read more

Stopping over in Hines on our west coast trip, we needed a dinner place. All recommendations pointed to The Pine Room. It was busy when we got there so we had a bit of a wait. We were seated and it was indicated that it might take our server a little bit to get to us. Honestly, we didn't wait any longer than a typical restaurant that wasn't busy. All good. With its supper club vibe, the entrees include a shrimp cocktail, soup or salad, bread, and choice of potatoes. They do not scrimp on portions. Even my wine choice was a healthy pour. The room was decorated with lots hangings that felt homey and welcoming. I chose the pork chop as my entree. It was served nice and hot and cooked perfectly. It was a thicker, bone in cut, served with cinnamon apples on top. Very good. Salad was huge, shrimp cocktail was served in a small stemmed dish with a dollop of cocktail sauce on top. Garlic mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy. Our server was great. We enjoyed this stop. read more

Not many options for dinner so we ended up here. We sat at a tabletop inside the bar section. I had their cheeseburger which had an excellent burger patty (7oz, with pork belly in it sooooo much flavor). The garlic Parmesan fries were fine too. This is an older restaurant that is big on giving you plenty to eat. Plan on bringing a big appetite at plan on taking home a to-go box. They do not skimp. Since I'm not a local asked the waitress for recommendations that won't break the bank. Her suggestions were either burgers or chicken alfredo. I went with the Alfredo and soup as the side. Today that was potato chowder. The meal also comes with 3 hearty slices of house made bread. The soup was the best chowder I've had, and it is a large portion. The bread is perfectly dense and the butter came out soft, not mushy,or frozen. The Alfredo was a great recommendation with perfectly cooked noodles and excellent chicken, covered in a very rich Alfredo sauce. Overall an outstanding meal. A couple of improvements that could be had: it may be time to re-cover the both seats and the flies were pesky. Made because I was sitting toward the front door. Service - started slow, but we got in just before dinner and the bartender seemed a little overwhelmed with number of folks. Based on the menu, we were ready for a great meal. Unfortunately that did not happen. The place is fine looking but is a bit beat up (old decor, ripped seating, etc), but who cares with such great food items on the menu. The little shrimp cocktail, the dinner salad, the baked sweet potato were all delicious. BUT SKIP THE ENTREES. Not sure if there is a chef/cook in the kitchen or a some high school kids on summer break. The salmon was dry as can be, my chicken fried steak was dry and tough and had a taste like someone put old lemon juice on it. Very good prime rib dinner! Super nice service, and a very good value. My daughter ordered the smallest prime rib dinner 14 Oz. It came with shrimp cocktail, soup or salad, freshly baked bread, potato and vegetables. I just ordered the "set up" sides without entree. We couldn't come close to finishing. Our meal at The Pine Room was absolutely delightful. Our group came into the restaurant famished and left very full and happy. We were so impressed with the various appetizer, entree, and dessert options, and ordered a variety of dishes to sample the offerings. To start, the fresh bread and butter served before the meal is fantastic. I love a good basket of bread, but this herbed bread and butter was off the charts. Most of our dinners also came with a shrimp cocktail and a choice of soup or salad. Dinner sides include a choice of veggies, baked potato, mashed potato, potato casserole, baked sweet potato, or fries - lots of options for potato lovers! I opted for a burger, but there are also some vegetarian and pescatarian options, which were nice to see. We were all very happy with our meals. The staff was helpful and attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of. I highly recommend The Pine Room to anyone looking for a solid, well-portioned meal near Burns. I'm from SO CAL, and have ate at some of the best restaurants in the country. The product they serve is by far some of the freshest I have had. It's amazing how petty some people can be! My husband and I went to The Pine Room for dinner this evening, and I honestly have to say that this was one of the worst dining experience we've ever had! I really don't like writing negative reviews, but the management here needs to know. We attempted to order wine, which we had to order by number, because our server didn't know about any of them... no big deal there, but every wine we ordered by number, they were out of. She had to "go down and check" 3 separate times for our alternate selections, and they didn't have any of them. The actual wine list was extensive, but after her 3rd trip "down there", she came back with 4 selections they had on hand. After ordering one, she forgot to bring it because she said "she was busy helping other people." Then she forgot to bring our bread and apologized saying "she was busy helping other people." Then when she finally brought my order, she brought my husband's salad, so I was almost finished with my entree and she forgot to bring his, but when she did, she apologized and said "she was busy helping other people." Then she forgot to bring part of my husband's entree, which was the bay shrimp cocktail and when we asked about it... guess what she said?... yep..."she was busy helping other people." She gave us a $2.40 discount. The food was not good at all. ( I never say this... but this time, it's warranted) When she realized we were less than happy with our experience, her attitude changed and she was a little snippy. What an amazing find in Burns, Oregon. We were given this name restaurant to eat for dinner that had good steak. We were not disappointed. My husband and I had the. Cowgirl bone out ribeye. Went here for my birthday dinner! Unfortunately our server, Austin was less than pleasant. Our dirty dishes never got taken back after they were finished. As dinner guests we were left playing Tetris with the leftover plates while the entrees were thrown onto our table. Austin had to shove the receipt under a dirty plate afterwards for payment because there was no other room on the table. Mind you, it was 3 people eating and 1 Dr. Pepper refill. A native of the area recommended this restaurant to us. Glad they did. The best way to describe it is diner ambience but with food a grade above customary diner fare. (And no, those aren't 'the good places' all the time. Many are awful.) While it was not cheap, the value was excellent and so was the service. Partner was as pleased as I was. If there is one tiny flaw about the place, it would be dinky parking lot that's tough to get out of. Don't put yourself through that; just park on the street. It's a small town and none will care unless you park somewhere stupid, like in front of a fire hydrant or blocking a driveway. We'll probably be back through Burns/Hines someday, and we will certainly be going back to the Pine Room. read more

However, both of our potatoes (baked and mashed) were way overcooked and, I would say, flavorless. Our waitress was pretty clueless on the menu, responding "I think so" twice when we asked if we were understanding correctly what comes in our meals. Even after literally looking at the menu with me, she failed to provide half the sides listed. I figured the kitchen would have at least provided the correct items, but no. Still, we asked for one of the items at the very end, the shrimp cocktail. The cocktail sauce was very good, but the shrimp have got to be canned. We were also never asked how the food was. On the recommendation of the waitstaff we had thier hamburgers. 7 ounces of local angus. Food was wonderful. Waitstaff was too busy flirting with the ladies to attend to our table. We came because of the good reviews by others and it did not disappoint. Somewhat of a bar atmosphere but we didn't mind it since we were passing through. Biggest issue was parking. Once we were able to get in and park it was fine. However upon leaving we had to jockey positions with two other drivers who were wanting to park. The soup was okay but served with the soup slopped over the edges of the bowl and saucer. Unappetizing to say the least. What was really appalling were our salads; chicken and salmon. The salmon was so salty, it was inedible. The salmon was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce with some kind of cheese and a pile of croutons (mostly crushed). This salad was AWFUL. The other salad had chicken plopped on top of iceberg lettuce. Two cherry tomatoes and two slices of cucumber finished it off. Again, AWFUL. What a fabulous place! We just got into town and were ready for dinner, but didn't know about making reservations so we sat at the bar. Kalli was our bartender/server and she was awesome! Very friendly and welcoming--makes you feel like a local. My husband got the Prime Rib and it was outstanding. Cooked perfectly, and the smaller size was plenty large. I had the Top Sirloin and it was perfect too. Very tender & flavorful--this place knows how to cook a "medium" steak! Meals come with a shrimp cocktail and soup or salad, plus your choice of potato, & seasoned cooked carrots. Fresh bread & butter too. I can see why they're so busy at dinnertime.
