Our new favorite stop for dinner and drinks. Clean, quiet, and fabulous food with attentive efficient staff. Greeted when we walked in 95% of the menu is made from scratch. Large variety of draft beer; a pint is $4.75 while a mixed drink was $5.25. Cowboy burger absolutely delicious! 10 out of 10! The onion rings were also perfectly breaded, nice flavor. Pool table available and it was nice seeing young kids eating and playing cards. Plenty of seating for a crowd. A great night! A must stop in Burns! read more

As others have mentioned, not a ton of options in Burns--especially for dinner. The food (burgers) was okay and the service was decent. Not great but not as bad as others have reported. Might depend on the day. If I went back to Burns, I'd try the Mexican place. read more

We were driving through from Eugene, OR to Boise, ID and was recommended to go to the Central Pastime by a local resident at a store!!! I'm sooooo grateful for this ABSOLUTELY delicious recommendation!!! We ordered the rib eye steak dinner and blue cheese burger and we each had a drink!!! Everything from our first interaction with the AMAZING dude behind the bar until we left was EXCEPTIONAL!!! We highly recommend going here for your meal and drinks!!! When we pass through again we will definitely go here again!!! Thank you read more

Well....I don't have a whole lot to say other than... if you are looking to not be welcomed into this town, the bartender can handle that. Maybe it's a thing, but for this gotten, it seems like they're not consistently busy. I'm not looking to move here or take over anything. A little kindness wouldn't kill her...or maybe it would. read more

Central Pastime - Sign over the bar - Pizza Near Me - Burns, Oregon

Central Pastime is THE local bar in Burns and a fun place to hang out! There were four of us and we each had something different from the menu and it was all good bar food but those onion rings are AMAZING! The only reason for less than 5 stars is the service. It should probably be a little lower but I'm hoping she just was having personal issues that she brought to work. When your entire party feels like the server hates you, there's a problem! My mom was having a hard time deciding and our server was visibly upset about it saying she had other customers. She was "visibly upset" with all customers though so not just us! Brought down the fun vibe of the bar just a bit but didn't stop us from hangin' out and winning at the slots!! We'll definitely be back for those onion rings!! read more

We went to the burns area to enjoy the hot springs. We then decided to have lunch , we went to central pastime for burgers and beers. We were scolded when ordering she wouldn't tell us what kind of beer they had she just pointed to the taps. It was ridiculous I've never been treated so poorly! Until of course it was time to pay. Sorry gals I don't tip for bad behaviour. I have several friends in the burns/Hines area and the people in town are usually so kind. We then went to a cpl stores where we shared our experience, thinking it was because we were out of towners. The 2 stores and the hotel we visited all Said oh I'm sorry, but that's kind of their thing. SAD why would you want to be known for being a asshole SMH. As far as the food, its really irrelevant. I'd rather have mediocre food and a good experience. read more

Well if you are staying in Burns, Oregon. There is not a lot of choices. We tried to stop at the Mexican restaurant next door. It was Saturday night and they had only one waitress working the whole restaurant. So we decided to move next door to The Central Pastime tavern. It was not busy. It took 10 minutes or so to get anyone to acknowledge us and give us menus. Servers would walk past us like we didn't exist. If you had a feeling that someone hated you for no reason, well we got that feeling here. Like we were inconveniencing them for wanting to eat. Menu advertised 12 beers on tap. When I asked what they were they only could name 6. There was an advertisement for broasted chicken. So I decided to try it. The chicken was fried way too long. It tasted like old oil. If I finished the meal I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have felt good afterward. One of the folks in our party ordered a Manhattan. For the rest of the evening he seemed to get the brunt of our servers angst. One time she came to ask how things were. She didn't stop or make eye contact. She just kept walking straight to the bathroom ignoring our responses to her question. It also turns out the person serving us was probably the owner. At some point I just kept quiet to avoid getting their ire. I will say, if you can put up with the attitude and flip a little back, they seemed to take it in stride. On a side note. The pizza here is really good. If you come in with low expectations for service, keep your drinks simple, and stick with the pizza. You'll probably be fine. Otherwise it seems like a locals only watering hole. read more

Hahaha! Liberals stay away. If you don't get the hint with the mask policy. Maybe the constitution amendments posted everywhere will make the marble fall. If not, maybe the posters about their love of gun rights? If none of this clicks, maybe the recall of the Oregon governor prominently displayed on the bar will tip you off. If you don't get it by now, hang around some fun people, eat a giant burger, or chicken fried steak, and drink some beer, listen to some country tunes, and for an hour or two pretend you're one of the deplorables. Maybe you can even admit you kinda miss Trump (not for reals, just part of the fun, right?) read more

Central Pastime - Read our rights libs! - Pizza Near Me - Burns, Oregon

Stopped in with a group of about 35... it's a story! Taking a star away only because the initial phone call almost sent me packing. My group was supposed to eat at another restaurant in Burns, but it was closed when we showed up during their posted business hours, and I'd called a week in advance to confirm our timing. The good. Live country music while dining! The Combo pizza! The organization - when we walked in, the staff had reserved tables for all of us and other tables to lay out the pizza, plates and drinks. Pitchers full of ice water and cups were delivered as soon as we walked in. The dining area was clean and orderly. The cook. She came out to talk with us for a few minutes and was great. The meh Went through a long list of calls to find an open dining room after 9pm in Burns. Central Pastime answered the phone. When I told them I had 30 people, I was told, literally... "We can't do that. Go Fish." But then... she asked if we were firefighters, I said, no we're a group of youth looking for a place to eat because the other place closed early. She asked if we would eat pizza... and then said to come on down. The service was a curt, but it looked like simple survival to me. Limited staff serving a busy place all worked. We had everything we needed. The pepperoni. Nothing fancy. Lots of cheese. The cheese. Honestly, can cheese pizza be anything but average? The bad. Nothing here. read more

Very good food and service , I enjoyed, I stop in On my way! To Hines and grabbed a Ruben and rings they were fantastic and the waitress was beautiful read more

I was trembling, terrified even. I ran to the bathroom to cry. I sobbed and sobbed. The waitress was very rude, I couldn't even speak. I hyperventilated. It felt like I was ordering from a drill sargent. She spoke very demanding, rude, and ignored us when spoken to. I even peed a little she scared me so darn bad. read more

The service was horrible. Our waitress was very rude to our party. Getting visibly angry when we were ordering. Ignoring us and only started to be "nice and kind" when it was time for the tip. Don't waste your time and money here. The food was good but not worth being afraid of asking for a refill or even talking. It definitely put a damper on our afternoon and our lunch. The owner was nice to us but the waitress was horrible. read more

This was the second visit for breakfast. Both times rewarded us with a very good breakfast at extremely reasonable prices. The place was pretty busy but the owner was behind the bar and she took great care of our group of six! Her pleasant and entertaining demeanor was very welcome! We sat at the bar and had a good view of the kitchen. Although they were short staffed, the owner and her cook make quick work of our orders! The food came out quickly and piping hot, every order perfectly executed. The breakfast steak was excellent (much better than what I had at the Pine Room for far less money) and was served quickly. I know breakfast is usually a fairly easy meal but to have it made exceptionally well and this quickly is a real treat! And for value, well this place is an absolute bargain! This will be my go to place in Burns from now on! OUTSTANDING!!!!! read more

Great place on a Saturday at 8:00pm for a meal and some fun. Jess was on top of it when we walked in. We sat by the pool table because our 10 year old daughter wanted to play. We had drinks and quarters for the table in a couple seconds. Then we ordered food while a local lady asked to teach my daughter something about how to play pool. And she did. Even let her use a very expensive pool cue. Our food was great. Fresh and hand made. Drinks are well made.Jess was busy and kept up on everything. Bathrooms and dining/bar area very well kept. Will stop by on our yearly trips again. Also the prices are very reasonable. We thought they messed up at under fifty with tip. read more

I had the Lumberjack burger and tots. It was amazing! Could barely eat it all... when in Burns, give them a try. Best burger in town.

Closes early. Turned away Wild land fire fighters for 20 mins while keeping the open sign on. 8:20pm at night

Two stars for the atmosphere. Awesome bar/restaurant, very American spirited. Liberals stay away. Would have easily gotten five stars if it weren't for the nasty older lady that barely resembled our waitress. She was extremely rude, completely inattentive and truly deserved a kick in the teeth rather than a tip. She ruined the entire dinner for myself and four friend. Complained loudly when I politely tried to flag her down to heaven forbid bring us some water and drinks. Very, very sad for such a great place. I would return every time if not for this hideous woman. Sad read more

We loved this place! As with most every place, they were short staffed but were hustling big time to cover all the tables. They were all very pleasant and the burger was delicious. Hand ground! Patty, the owner, was extremely nice. Definitely will be back! read more

They have a blue cheese burger that is to die for. And the battered fries are fabulous. The burgers are really good. As is the service. I asked for a cocktail and it was strong. read more

Stopped by on a Monday night and had a lovely meal and drinks -- it was quiet, and Vicky (Vicki?) was incredibly helpful and kind in helping my friend and I get a very late dinner. Highly recommend -- it's local and divey, in the best possible way, with good service that is worth being recognized. Will be back again for hot chocolate :) read more

During my first time in Burns, I asked a local for her restaurant recommendation. Without hesitation she said "Central Pastime Tavern". While the exterior is nothing special, the interior is clean, well-appointed and very welcoming. Central Pastime has a scratch kitchen -- virtually everything is made in the kitchen (chili, ground beef, onion rings, etc) and everything that I had was delicious. Prices are very good for the quality and quantity that I received and the wait staff was very friendly and talkative. I highly recommend eating at Central Pastime whenever you find yourself in Burns Oregon! read more

Central Pastime - Chili Cheeseburger and Homemade Onion Rings - Pizza Near Me - Burns, Oregon

Local hometown bar, decent craft beer selection and great food for a pub. Hubby had a great burger with "perfectly" cooked tots. I had the chef salad, presentation was making me wonder why but it was fresh, delicious, the ham and turkey tasted fresh, and it was very filling. Bartender was on the spot with service, loved the signs and the music. Very comfortable place. read more

We stopped here just now, on a road trip to Idaho from Portland. I see the complaining one-star reviews from Portlanders and all I can say to you is: stop being a jerk. Don't come to a local bar in Burns, OR and ask for tofu for gods sake. Try to see outside your myopic woke-ness and see this place for the gem it is. Delicious food and drinks from hard-working authentic people. Awesome establishment, great atmosphere and we will definitely be back! Oh and $6.75 for a Jim Beam 7 and a Corona?! Crazy cheap! 5 stars! read more

Love it here. Eat all the time here. Amazing place The food is amazing. The drinks are even better. The service is amazing. Now the wait time is something else but like the like wait time is like 25 minutes for your food which just means they're making it fresh. They're always really nice. I grew up in the town before they modified it so there was no wall there. There was the doors that my grandpa had made. It is an amazing place. I love it though read more

As my 10 year old daughter said, "this place is a hidden gem". Don't let the exterior fool you! As soon as you walk inside, you are greeted with a clean, warm space. Patty, the owner, is kind and inviting. She describes her place as a dive bar, which it is, but I'd also argue it is a fantastic family restaurant. We have two kids - the kids menu is $2 per entree! The adult menu is filled with bar inspired food but all made homemade, in house. The burgers and steak are high quality meat that you can't find anywhere for the prices charged. Homemade onion rings are not to be missed. A plethora of local beers on draft for $4 or less. We were just passing through and we were so happy we stumbled upon a fantastic local place with fresh food and friendly service. Patty truly runs a wonderful business. read more

The food was acceptable (on the meaty side), the beer was very good, and the decor was objectionable.

We waited for an hour and 40 minutes and never got our food. A larger table came in after us, ordered after us, and got their food and ate it, and we still hadnt received ours. There was only 3 of us, one being a really hungry toddler. We wasted almost 2 hours, and ended up leaving without our food because we didn't have enough time. It was ridiculously annoying and will never recommend this place. read more

This place is garbage. The service is rubbish and so is the food. Pass on it even if it's the only place open. Go grab a frozen meal at safeway, it will be 10 x better. The service staff would not last anywhere outside of Burns. Fuck this place. read more

Liked the place when we walked in but it was all down here from there. Service was terrible! Food wasn't much better. We were terribly disappointed. Won't be back. read more

We came here because the mexican place next door was closed, we instantly regretted it and almost walked out. We sat for almost 15 minutes before we got our menus When she brought them I had manners I said hi and thank you and she didnt respond back.45 minutes to get a hamburger and sloppy joe sandwich. The server did not come and check on us after we got our food and we had to ask for our check after waiting another 15 minutes. The couple next to us said to us "if your not from here or a regular, obviously you dont matter" they did get up and walk out. We do live here in town and have been here a couple of times, thinking people do have bad days, but the service has always been the same. Food is only meadaoker We won't be back!! read more

This is a fun wester motif restaurant in a fun Western town, Burns Oregon. The food was delicious and the service excellent!

Traveling through on our way to Boise. Stopped for a quick bite with the family. Patty melt was tasty served with lightly battered onion rings. Three of the four meals were good for a small town eatery. Strongly avoid the small taco pizza. Dry, no flavor crust and the toppings were tasteless. read more

Good food, drinks. Vicki is a good bartender. However wait service is horrible. We get ignored for 15-20 mins plus. No smile, no check on food or whether or not you want another drink. Have to go to bar counter to pay bill. I wonder if waitress has a clue to the fact that tips represent service given. read more

My mom and I stopped in for lunch while driving to Boise. My mom is very specific about how she likes a Reuben sandwich and is often disappointed. The one here was the best she's ever had. The owner cures her own meat and is selective about the cuts and quality. Most things here appear to be homemade. Both the owner and waitress were very welcoming to us and took time to chat. We had a nice stop and hope to return some day! read more

Waitress/ cook was great. I seated myself then was approached by the bar manager with a menu but then left for over 10 mins b4 I spoke up & asked if I could order. The waitress quickly came by & took my order. This place needs to be kept in check by the ppl that make it happen which is the public! Bad bad attitude! read more

We stopped in here on our way through town not long ago, there wasn't much open so we settled on eating here. I kind of got the feeling it is only serve the locals only type place. Even if you give them a friendly smile, or friendly attitude. Not that there was any rude service, it was just not any smiles back, or it was I get lack of acknowledgment I guess. My guy went up and got the drinks, and menu's. After I figured out what I wanted I noticed a gross smell coming from my hands. We encounter this from one other place before when they used dirty wash rags to wash the tables. I think dirty wash rags were used to wipe the tables, and menu's here. It was that same smell! I immediately went and washed my hands! At this point I should have known better to eat the food! I ordered finger steaks, and my guy had a pizza! The pizza's are small FYI! As in personal size! He thought it tasted fine. My finger steaks tasted like they were marinated in A.1 steak sauce!! Yuck! If you have to drench your steak in that stuff then you are not making it right period! End of story! You may as well dip that in ketchup! I did eat them because I was starving from being on the road! Soon after I was filled with regret as my stomach was turning! Pretty sure I had food poisoning from here! We didn't stop any where else, and everything else I had eaten along the way my guy had the same thing except the finger steaks. So pretty sure that is what did it. Safe to say I will not return here! read more

Probably a nice local watering hole, but only order the food if you have a Lot of free time and you don't care about quality. The service was friendly, but in attentive. To be fair, there isn't a lot to choose from on a Monday night in Burns. At least I didn't starve. I've never seen a New York steak cut 3/8" thick. I might be generous on that measurement. Anyway, it was an experience. Next time I'm in Burns on a Monday, I'll try to drive to Bend. read more
