This was a great stop on our motorcycle road trip. We needed some breakfast and Yelp had some solid reviews for this place. They are warranted. We had a great breakfast and nice conversation with many of the locals. Everyone in the place was friendly toward us. What a treat. The food is really good and filling and the coffee hit the spot. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the magic does happen inside. Make the stop. You'll be glad you did. read more

We stopped here during a road trip and the first thing we wanted (Chicken Fried Steak) they said sold out. It was only 9:30am at that time. Ended up ordering an Omelette and French Toast. On couple sitting inside got there food. No one else was there, she said she would bring our to-go order out to us. Went back in to check on it after 30 minutes and was told they are working on it. After another 8 minutes we finally get our food and it was nothing special. Do not recommend this place. read more

The food was amazing the wait was long. But it takes time to make great food it was worth it. read more

Food, breakfast was very tasty and not too pricy! Slow service... with while to stop in.

The cheese steak sandwich was very good with shredded steak, onions and mushrooms. The fries seemed made in-house and were very . The building is old but very clean inside. read more

The service wasn't very great and it was really empty and it took over an hour to be served and the food was disgusting the pancakes were discolored and didn't taste like anything and the ranch was foul read more

Came here on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at 7:15am and the place was packed. It's pretty small with maybe 10 tables and the diner staff seemed overwhelmed. But they handled the pulse fairly well and the wait to get our food was not long. 90% locals by my assessment. Old timers shooting the BS mostly. Food was exactly what I was expecting- good down home comfort breakfast. Very tasty and a great start to a long week. Will be back next time in Burns. read more

I have driven past this place thousands of times and never thought of stopping (mostly because it's Burns). This time we were in need of a sit down style breakfast place so we gave it a shot. They were open with us about the wait time (30-40 minutes) and we needed to take care of some animals that we had in the trailer anyway so we went with it. They were spot on with the timing and the food was perfect. Basic breakfast items, and extremely awesome staff. read more

Easy four stars from this Yelper! You order when you go in and the menu is on the wall behind the cash register. The bacon was fantastic and had a sweet Smokey flavor to it and it was cooked perfectly, as were the eggs, hash browns and English muffin. Coffee was a bit weak and it took a bit to get our order, but we weren't in a hurry so not a game changer. This place is well worth the stop when in Burns and wanting some good food at a reasonable price. read more

Excellent food! Super tasty! My husband said it was the best chicken fried steak he's ever had.

On our vacation, we stopped off at this little hole in the wall off the highway and it was some of the most amazing food you could encounter. The weight was a little, but the food was made it worth it if you ever drive down this highway and find yourself in Burns Oregon you could do yourself justice by stopping off and getting some of their food. I had the avocado burger with onion rings, and the onion rings melted in your mouth so much for a wonderful lunch read more

Good restaurants are few in Burns. This restaurant does a good job. The gal that runs it is nice and provides great service. The food is yummy. read more

Different owners. And I didn't recognize it as the same place! It's been painted but otherwise the same. Order at a counter, but food is cooked to order and brought to the table. Folks are very friendly and pretty confident the breakfast will be good read more

Do not come here unless you think youll be hungry in an hour...and dont look up! We stopped here on our way to Idaho for breakfast. I wanted steak and eggs because I'm keto and can't have carbs (toast and hashbrowns) and was told that they were out of steak. The food took 1 hour to arrive. I understand being short staffed and food being made to order, but that is just bonkers. There was only 1 person ahead of us and their food took quite a while to arrive too. Both my husband and I asked for medium hard eggs and got over easy, my bacon was limp (but tasted good enough). I was too hungry to send it back. Sitting there for so long, I looked around and noticed water damage to part of the ceiling. 1 tile was missing and looked like it could have had mold up there. The overhead lights were packed with bugs, I'd assume that this restaurant doesn't get a deep cleaning very often. Now I understand why you have to prepay/tip. Cause we would have left after the 1/2 hour mark otherwise. The staff was nice enough, but that's not enough to make customers want to return. read more

If you are looking to hang out for a while, the food is worth the wait; it's your average drive in burger/ice cream spot, their breakfast is good as well. The building itself is what you expect- it being an old building and set up. It's not fancy, a little run down, but it's clean. You have to take into consideration this is BURNS- it is such a small town that does not have a big population. They do not have the staff to turn out food quickly and food is also made to order. However, they handle being busy very well, and are very nice and genuine.. To note: If you're looking for something quick there are plenty of other options.. but also KEEP IN MIND ITS BURNS, nothing stays open past 8-10pm. So don't bank on eating a full meal if you come through here late at night, plan ahead. read more

By far best breakfast spot in Burns! Very clean. Staff super nice and friendly. We will be returning for sure.

We had breakfast here twice passing through Burns. Both times the food was perfect. I can't speak for burgers, but breakfasts are top-notch! read more

It's a nice place and people were friendly but we arrived at 8:45 for breakfast and wanted an egg, toast and bacon. at 9:30 we still hadn't been served. We had a long drive ahead and the restaurant wasn't full, 3 people, and 1 family, so who knows. Maybe they didn't like the look of us. There is a big sign on the door saying "We reserve the right to serve anyone" so we knew we were in the far right. What could improve? service maybe; that it doesn't take almost an hour to make two breakfasts. When it did finally arrive it was good but only lukewarm read more

Waiting for a tire repair, RJ's was recommended. I was grouchy about the tire and hungry and very skeptical. There were zero GF options listed on the menu and small towns like Burns do not often accommodate those of us who have a love/hate relationship with flour. I love flour and it hates me. To my suprise they DID have GF bread and made me the BEST GF breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten. In my life. I have eaten a lot of them. This is the BEST. I will forever stop at RI's for this sandwich. Even if I have already eaten, I WILL STOP and eat again. read more

I can't lie my opinion on the restaurant has changed a lot It went from 3 stars to 5 food is really great can't say it has anything bad the service is just amazing love it very much food is even better just love it here food isn't quick but it's fine read more

I had been told it was dirty and not worth the stop but it couldn't be more wrong. Delicious food and the CLEANEST (yeah that's right cpas lock!) restaurant I've been in even through Covid. The wait staff was top notch. We had breakfast. Go do it!!! read more

New look, same crappy service. SLOWWWWWWW. You order and pay before you sit down so when you begin your 1 hour and 7 minute wait for food on a Sunday morning...with a 20 min wait for your coffee...you cant walk out when you lose patience. Everyone working in this place seems to be a disinterested teenager with no sense of urgency or organization. Used to be a great place to eat years ago. Now it's a excercise in inefficiency. Avoid. read more

Be prepared to wait a while for your food, but once it comes, it's steaming hot, fresh outta the kitchen, and DELICIOUS! My partner and I got breakfast sandwiches, which totally hit the spot after camping all weekend. Will definitely be back next time! read more

Stopped yesterday, Mother's Day, and ordered a cheeseburger & fries at the outside "to-go" window. Placed order at 12:40 pm, asked staff twice when it might be ready. "Don't know," they said. Finally, when it still wasn't ready at 1:10 pm, I asked for my $12 back. ($10.95 meal + 1.05 tip.) The lady gave me the $10.95 and said "We're real busy." If your restaurant kitchen can't turn out a sandwich in 30 minutes, you're beyond help, even if it is Mother's Day. read more

I'm giving this place four stars, more based upon my overall impression, rather than the particulars of the actual food consumed here today. My wife and I travel through Burns, Oregon several times each year, and have been doing so for almost 25 years. We never stop for anything but gas, snacks, and an occasional meal. Since today was Memorial Day, the choices were limited, and we pulled right over when we saw RJ's was open. My wife had been here years ago, but this was my first visit here. When you walk in, you have the immediate feel that this is a local hangout, and not necessarily geared for the "grab-and-go" travelers like us. It seemed that most of the clientele were locals, and the place was pretty busy for the middle of the afternoon. Two good signs that this is a good place. The old-school menu board, the americana styled diner tables, and the smell of grilled burgers make you feel like you might be on the set for "Happy Days". I immediately fell in love with the place when I noticed that they had the little booklets at the table with ads for the local businesses, along with trivia to read while you are waiting for your meal, and also a few bad jokes in there too. Love it! My wife and I both ordered grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, and when we got them, it was as if Grandma had just cooked them up on the electric fry pan back at her house. The bread was buttery, and the ham and cheese tasted great. I did notice that they had a nice looking salad bar, that stocked with lots of great salad stuff, and was very clean. We didn't try any other traditional diner fare, since we were in a rush to get on the road to get back home, but I certainly would love to sample a burger & fries there. My wife said on her first visit there that the hamburgers where HUGE! The staff was friendly, and the overall restaurant was clean. All big plusses. Maybe someday we'll have time to sit for a while and enjoy a dinner in Burns, and we can swing by RJ's for something more substantial. Just keep on driving past this place! We waited 42 minutes to get lukewarm food! The waitress could careless and was actually rude about it. We were not the only unhappy customers! The couple behind us that order a to go order requested a refund due the wait. The only other customer in the place stated he wouldn't be back either. 0 for 3 is not a good track record for a Saturday morning! read more

Traveling in the area and RJ's was recommended by a local for breakfast. Was a little hesitant at first look but very glad we started. Had breakfast which was a good cafe breakfast. While there the owner and her brother had a couple of very positive interactions with a couple of locals. Need more people in our communities willing to give a hand up and they definitely did! read more

Unorganized, service was bad, food was cold, and it took forever to get served after we ordered. Would I go here again? I hope not

Waited an hour for a burger and fries. When the burger came out the bun was soggy. Do not recommend

Super nice place. I'd give it a mid review though because well like the whole place is like barely empty and the inside looks like the '80s had a major glow up and just poof was there, but it's honestly pretty good food. I don't eat it that often but when I do I'm always really impressed with how good it is read more

I think the better part of a dining experience, is the atmosphere and people, beyond the food. And I also acknowledge that the scale of good-bad food tips differently for each of us. Having said all that.... RJ's was a hit for me on all counts except the food. Now mind you, it wasn't disgusting, but it wasn't amazing. I'd say the food fit the place. The service was great!! The restaurant was exactly what I expect from a tiny town like this. So I'd offer 5 enthusiastic stars except that the biscuits I ordered were apparently popped from a pillsbury tin and were actually undercooked (doughy) or simply very soggy. Couldn't tell which. The omelet was good however. As for the gravy and chicken fried steak... the former was pretty bland (but better than half the gravies I've had) and the latter was generously proportions, cooked just right, and quite good. You won't find many alternatives if you're traveling through this area, but I'd say it's worth a stop anyhow. An example of the service here... we left a high end ski jacket at our table and didn't realize until bend. Called them and they were not only honest about finding it, but offered to take it to a UPS drop and have it shipped to us. Very cool read more

Friendly service, good tasting food, clean restaurant. Your typical order at the counter almost fast food kind of place. We had the salad bar which was very fresh and inviting, the Rueben burger- oh my goodness, it was huge and delicious!!, and a grilled cheese/salad bar combo. read more

Horrible service from a snotty teenager. Food was mediocre and took an hour for a couple burgers and chicken strips. Only about 10 sweet tater fries in the order. Never eat here read more

Very clean inside. Food was really good! They seemed a bit understaffed but didn't cause a lack of service. Would definitely eat here again.

Food is basic. They said the biscuits and gravy had sausage in it. The sausage was undetectable by taste or vision and the biscuits were small and puck like. Over priced for what was served. Two stars read more
