Great service! They have an extensive menu for the greasy bite. The self serve salad bar had no lettuce at the time and was a bit sparse but the food is the perfect greasy spoon. Filled with locals and travelers alike the wait can be a bit lengthy but the service never falters. They are prompt and friendly and have great advice if you are indecisive. Three choices of fries and a whole section of delightful burgers add to the menu. Great for families and especially stopping with the kiddos on a hot day! read more

RJ's Restaurant - Large menu and salad bar. - American Near Me - Burns, Oregon

On a recent camping trip, I wanted breakfast at something other than a fast food joint! I had a breakfast burrito, but all the menu, from breakfasts to burgers sounded good......the inside of the place is mostly purple, the outside is neon green and purple, and the place feels as much like a dive bar as diner/ drive in........The burrito was really good, and the prices were reasonable! read more

Super-delicious food, but our eggs took nearly 1 hour to arrive. There were only 2 other tables. They also waited about 60 minutes for their food. Since they charge up front (with tip), you can't really walk out unless you plan on losing your money too. It was a big disappointment. How can a place be so tasty and so crappy at customer service at the same time? read more

The owners have changed and the quality has declined substantially. Avoid breakfast at all costs. We had eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy with chorizo. Both meals came with hash whites. It was all very gross and tasted horrible. Gravy was weird and gross. The Hollandaise sauce was clumpy and very bad, obviously from a packet. The chorizo was overcooked, flavorless and hard to chew. The 50-minutes wait would have been okay had the food been of better quality and properly prepared. Sadly, there aren't any really great breakfast options in Burns, but the Truck Stop is by far the best in town. Bella Java also would be another reasonable option for breakfast - It's very good, but limited. read more

If you're in a rush, don't stop here. Spent one hour and $30 on a mediocre meal. There's only nine booths. You pay before you eat which can be nice until you have to wait an obscene amount of time for a basic breakfast. read more

Seems to be under new management or something. At any rate the food has greatly improved. The patty melt I had was actually quite good whereas in the past the meat covered maybe half the bread. Service was good, as always read more

A must stop spot on your way to Bend. Delicious reliable burgers, tots and onion rings. Friendly, attentive staff. Next time I'll try the tacos. read more

Had a camping stove fail and had to go to town. Hankering a diner breakfast. Ordered a small chili cheese omelet, which was plenty big. It was filled with what I am positive was Nalley's chili. Not a bad thing since that stuff is like crack to me. Onions would have made it better, as would throwing it under the broiler to melt the cheese. Hash browns were undercooked and underseasoned. No coffee refills were offered, but the coffee wasn't so good that I wanted more. They forgot my toast, but when I got it, it had a nice char on it. I say that in a good way. Would have much preferred butter to margarine, but at least they had real cream. I heard someone say the cook was new, which might explain the hash brown rawness and forgotten toast. Bonus: you can have your food delivered to your car, carhop-style, if you're into that. read more

When we entered the restaurant, there were a couple of other tables waiting for food. After we ordered and paid, the waitress (who was very pleasant) told us that there was a new cook and it would take a while to get our food. ONE HOUR later we finally were served our order . The breakfast food we ordered was pretty good. However, they should have let us know it was going to be over 45 minutes to get our food. We would have chosen another restaurant read more

I worked at a place like this as a kid. Beautiful. The bacon cheese burger is fantastic. Smile. read more

Very good food big servings and and a big variety to choose from will definitely stop In again on are way back from Idaho

Oh my goodness! I had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast.......one of the best CFS's I've eaten in a long time!!!

If you're hungry and love good food this is the place to stop! I stopped in there on the way over to Bend looking for a home cooked meal and they had exactly what I was lookin for. I ordered the Philly cheese steak omlent and was not disopointed. It was cooked to perfection just like I was back in Philly. Don't be fooled by the dated appearance because the service makes up for it. What else needs to be said. read more

Had to check this place out for lunch since it's located across the street from our jobsite, AND it's named after me. :) Simple and excellent! Had the bacon cheeseburger with tots and a 44oz to-go cup. read more

Very poor breakfast service. The tables that needed cleaning when we arrived should have given us a clue to leave. One table was cluttered with dirty plates for our entire stay. It took 15 min for coffee and at least 45 mim for breakfast. Breakfast was served without eating utensils, and a long dark hair was found in one meal. For sure the last time I dine here. read more

If I could give no stars to any place this would be the one. How long can it possibly take to make breakfast?? Well I don't know because we left after 40 minutes of waiting for said breakfast. The people in front of us got there food 25 minutes after we sat down. The whole place reeked of smoke not sure if the person pretending to be the cook knew how to turn on the hood vent. On our way out I thought maybe it was ready and we could take it to go so I asked the waitress who had been hiding in the kitchen if it was close to being done 40 minutes after ordering and she had to go check... She literally had just come from the kitchen! So now we are making the drive with empty stomach's. I hope they enjoy the money we paid for our uneaten food. read more

You must order first then be seated. Ok except took 50 minutes to get food and it was not hot. The server seemed to be confused on what drinks where ordered for what table. The hash browns where skimpy, and the food would be actually good if it was hot instead of sitting around before being served. I would have given this restaurant a 4 or 5 if it didn't take 50 minutes and the food was warmer. Had a bacon cheese omelette with toast and hash browns, part of omelette was laying off plate touching table. Yuk! Cut that piece off for the trash. read more

It was the afternoon of the eclipse and they were slammed. The staff was nice and got us what we needed quickly. The menu is limited and mostly fried but it was nice to be out of the car. A decent local place with okay road food. Daughter and I agreed it's a 3.5. Considering the circumstances they did great. The food was okay. Real onion rings. Tasty curly fries. Clean bathroom and large parking lot. read more

The food took 25 minutes for 3 burgers and it tasted like carboard. I almost broke a tooth biting into a French fry. No joke! Skip it and go to dairy Queen right down the road. read more

A small place with a big menu. The food is your basic American style - burgers, sandwiches, fried stuff, desserts. There's an extensive breakfast menu as well. It wasn't the best food we've ever had but it was quite satisfactory, with big portions and friendly wait-staff. read more

Was stuck in Burns for 2 days after our car broke down. We had breakfast here those 2 days. First day was chicken fried steak, and second was the breakfast burrito. Food was great and service just as good. read more

This place is a great country style breakfast spot. Had the Denver Omelet and the cook took the extra time to grill the veggies just right. Hash browns are as good as they come nice portions. Passing through from Seattle highly recommend when to breakup the spot. read more

Well...not a lot of breakfast options in Burns Or. Originally we wanted to try somewhere else but that place was closed. So we opted this. It was ok. Nothing special, and a bit overpriced. We tried the bacon breakfast sandwich with a side of hashbrowns, and a steak and egg plate. 2 coffees and an extra side of bacon. That totaled 28.00 which is steep for an average diner-type place. Service was slow and breakfast sandwich was greasy. My husband said the steak and eggs weren't bad. Probably wouldn't be back....but who knows...Burns doesn't have many choices. read more

Cheap and greasy food joint with a diner-style menu.

Stopped in for a late lunch before heading down to Malheur NWR. Shocked by the prices we decided to split a burger/fry combo. Which seemed to annoy the old dude working the counter (Don the proprietor?). The food was okay, but sure not worth this kind of coin. Plus the restrooms are gross. Free soda refills brought to your table though! read more

The service at RJs is superior. Very friendly and attentive staff. We had breakfast it was excellent. Best bacon I have had in a long time. The restaurant is super clean. The restrooms were impeccable. It's nothing fancy but we highly recommend stopping. read more

Charming diner with super nice people. Breakfast is exactly what you want in a diner breakfast. Fresh and good portion sizes. Good coffee. A fun, small town experience. read more

This may be the only reasonably priced and decent restaurant in town. It sure beats the Apple Peddler (not difficult). I recently had lunch and it was a little more than OK. Service is great. The fish and chips (frozen, of course) were about $9.95 and a large well prepared portion. The fries were not worth eating. The salad bar looked good but I didn't partake. read more

Unexpected surprise. The food was fresh, a real burger, salad bar, etc. The menu is a bit overwhelming and the prices seemed high but the food quality was on par with the pricing. Dining in you eat on glass plates with silverware....beats a paper wrapped burger and plastic fork. You order at a counter but the staff come by and provide drink refill service. Friendly service. I would eat here again. read more

RJ's was recommended by the checker at the Safeway and appears to maybe be the only place in town that serves breakfast. That said, it was a pleasant surprise. Hubby order RJ's Browns which was hash browns topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions and green peppers, melted cheese and two eggs. You can stop there if you're vegetarian or add choice of meat. He added sausage and raved about it. I considered that but just wasn't that hungry (we're talking about farm hand portions here). I got the breakfast sandwich which was lovely. The bathrooms are a little rough, but I wouldn't say gross, they could just use a little upkeep. The we're clean but it appears they prefer duct tape as a repair option. I'd definitely eat here again. read more

We paid almost $20 for a burger and approximately 6 fries, a hamburger patty and 1 drink. It took an hour to get our food and the food and service was horrible. While we were waiting for our food, the employees stood in the kitchen and gossiped loudly for everyone to hear. Very disappointing. read more

Great "greasy spoon" breakfast. Service was quick and very nice. Will stop in every time i pass through burns

Just driving through Burn and we stopped here for lunch. They looked busy and was expecting slow service, but it was fast. Hamburgers were delicious, fresh beef, real cheese and toasted buns. Curly fires were excellent also. All in all a great experience. Only 4 stars because the prices are high! $10.00 for a burger is high in my book. read more

Not many choices in Burns, but we heard from the gas jockey that this is the place. Friendly small town burger joint. A little dirty but good food choices. We don't usually do McDonalds or Subway, but I'm thinking they might have been a better choice if you are ok with it. read more

Probably one of the better greasy-spoon breakfasts in Burns. (Hint: Do NOT- I repeat do NOT- order the eggs benedict, which had, quite possibly, the worst hollandaise sauce I have ever tasted. If you are going to risk cardiac arrest, the hollandaise should at least be edible!) Still, this is a passable breakfast, and the service here is better than what you usually get in Burns, unless you believe the signs, and try to order from the parking lot with the drive-up speakers, in which case you will be ignored. You have to go inside to get service. The burgers are decent, the fries greasy, and the omelets are A-OK. read more

Tasty little drive-in was nice to stop in and get some good food after a long day on the road. Cooled off with a refreshing Dr Pepper and some crispy curly fries the burger was a perfect size and full of flavor. Keep on going past the Golden Arches and pull into RJ's drive in. read more
