We were living in Atlanta for a year and Central Bark was the closest daycare facility to my work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we visited the facility before bringing the dogs, the staff were extremely kind and helpful with showing us around and answering our questions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The facility and the staff were absolutely amazing for our two Great Dane boys. They would match the play group with their personality and activity, which they would come home tired and happy from a fun day. They also loved every staff member and were always happy to see them when they arrive! One of our pups had surgery and couldn't stay home after the first couple weeks due to our work, but their "Day and Play" program is exceptional for needing to be away from other dogs until medically cleared. Despite being alone, he had a buddy throughout the day for low-level play time and enrichment to keep him busy. We highly recommend taking your dogs to Central Bark in Atlanta! We honestly wish we could've picked them up and take them with us to our new home destination. Even if your dog can't be with other dogs for some reason, they will not be bored! We decided to try CBA for Zara. As a puppy she had a lot of energy and the places we were sending her to weren't cutting it. We started with puppy assessment and then the no-commitment month of daycare, and Zara absolutely loved it. Given that this was a membership based program and I had to kore or less commit to a day, I took some time to sign up but finally gave in. We even enrolled her in circuit training to get all her energy out when she's there. We recently went to puppy hour at Central Bark and had the best time! We have been bringing our dog here for daycare for about two months now. He always has a great time and comes back extremely tired. We have never had an incident with any of the other dogs or staff. A few things sold us on this place when we initially visited (unannounced, at that) and still today: -the facility is humongous. There's lots of options for both indoor and outdoor play which also aids with temperature and climate control for Atlantas crazy weather. -it is very clean and typically always smells clean. Our dog rarely comes back smelling like "kennel". -playgroups are organized by size and temperament of the dogs. They're not just all sitting around in a big room together. -they offer, for an additional fee, circuit training with a professional. An extremely detailed report is provided with what your dog does well and where improvement is needed. -reception is always staffed. Dropoff and pickup are so efficient. Only once I had to wait and it was because multiple people arrived at the same time. The online booking system works well but a few times when verbally booking with a person, the reservation didn't make it officially into the system. Wednesdays tend to be their busiest day. They ask you to commit to a standing appointment, visiting once a week on the same day. I can see why that is beneficial for the dogs forming a pack, etc. but also hard to work out with our work schedules, travel, etc which changes from week to week. So far, it hasn't been an issue to make our booking on a weekend for that coming week. We recently received an email that they are moving to a membership based system effective 6/1 so that might change things. Overall, can't say enough good things! The staff has always been very nice, and my dog absolutely loves coming here, and is always tired and happy when she comes home. I do slightly wish they had cameras, but they do livestream the Puppy Power Hour, so you can see a little bit about how their handlers work and what their playspaces look like. Central Bark puts the 'do' in doodle! Our Que is a mini labradoodle but she seems to gain 100 pounds of strength whenever we try to get her into the bathtub. We turned to Central Bark to start grooming her early on as a puppy and they have always done a fur-nomenal job! Every doodle parent's worst nightmare is getting their four legged baby back and having them "poodled" - Central Bark really listened to what we asked for and has exceeded our expectations in keeping our girl looking more lab than poodle! Que has really challenging fur - it is very thin and will blow in the wind. Makes for adorable pictures but can be hard to shape/trim - the groomers here are seasoned professionals who we now trust whole-heartedly. BEWARE: Central Bark double dips when charging for grooming services. I dropped my English Springer Spaniel (female, 60lbs) off for a grooming last Friday and was charged $65 for a FULL GROOM SERVICE which per the website includes bath, nail trim, ear clean, and anal expression (per the website). I was fine with this as this is what I expected. Then I was charged an additional $55 for the Furminator Deluxe (which is NOT LISTED ON THE WEBSITE SO I have no clue what the difference is and why it's basically the equivalent of the full groom)! When I ask the staff in person upon pick up and call after it's very apparent no one can distinguish what that charge was for. Historically it's been $25 - $35 which is was also fine with, but $55?! The facility is large and CLEAN! They have 4 play areas inside and 3 outside with baby pools. The dogs are split into groups based on size and temprament. Our puppy comes home from day care exhausted from all the playing! We've only had 1 haircut (she's 8 months old), but it looks great. This review is only for their grooming services, as I've never used their boarding services. With that said, all of the staff is pleasant, especially Caren, and makes my little pup so happy to be there. Caren is wonderful with our hyper furbaby and, considering she's an experienced dog trainer (SN: and personal trainer), she is the only person I've requested to groom him since we started taking him here a year ago. This is important to us that we leave our pup with a skilled, but also caring and informed individual for his grooming as our pup had a terrible grooming experience a little over a year ago and has growled and barked at strangers ever since. He's also a little reactive to other dogs while on leash. Working on that. Fortunately for me, Caren and I have the understanding that her unsolicited training tips are by all means welcome! Caren is super detailed oriented and, before our first appointment, she went over the cut length options and I showed her pictures on Pinterest to describe what I was looking for. If you can't tell, this type of stuff is new to me as I'm a fairly new dog owner. Our pup has only been to 2 other groomers before Caren and neither of them presented me with this option. Ever since, Caren knows exactly what we wanted. My husband and I have different preferences and she knows which length he likes and which I like without need for review. Sometimes, she's with another pup when we drop ours off or my dad will take him for us and we can leave expecting "the usual" knowing that when we return, he'll be squeaky clean with a fresh cut and bandana to top it off! We always do the full groom which starts at $45. For our 11 pounder, our totals come to $49 + tip. This includes a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, gland expression, blow out, brush out, and full body haircut. They have a detailed service menu on their website and it includes a la carte options and a mini groom. Our pup is usually ready between 4-6 hours after drop-off, which gives me plenty of time to accomplish to-dos and run home in the meantime. The groomings take place in a room off to the side of the waiting area, which is great so that your pup doesn't have to mix with dirty dogs there for daycare. Of course, that is only a reality if your dog isn't staying for daycare. The waiting area is large, clean, and is stocked with food, treats, and pet supplies. There's also a clean bathroom near the entrance and hand sanitizer available as well. Their front lawn is surprisingly clean, considering I potty our pup before and/or after appointments and I'm sure other customers do too. They also have a trashcan outside to dispose of waste and have provided me with a poop bag when I realized I didn't have any on me. Every time I've called and left a message, I receive a call back, and they leave detailed messages and are on top of keeping up with vaccination records, which should be the standard, but you'd be surprised with the establishments that lack in this area. I have been looking for both a boarding area and a doggy day care for my two golden retrievers. They are so full of energy it just doesn't seem right for them to sit at home all day and be bored. I did some research through Yelp and Google reviews and settled on Central Bark because of its location and ease of booking. The space looks small from the outside but there are multiple rooms when you go in. When you first think about boarding your pup here, you have to go through 2 observation periods where they test your dog first with humans then with different dogs with different energy levels. If they are compatible then hooray you're all set to start boarding and doggy daycaring. They give you a full assessment of how they did and what they were able to tolerate including a full grade at the end. Luckily our dogs passed! There are many dogs that come here. We dropped them off at 7:30AM and there were tons of other dogs coming through. They had all sorts of sizes and all breeds. They require all their dogs to be vaccinated and up to speed including flea and tick control meds. If you would like to have your dog get a snack in the middle of the day, you can sign up for it when you first walk in. They also sell all sorts of dog treats and dog food (including pill pockets) if you needed to grab anything on the way out. I found the staff to be polite, courteous and seeming to be people who enjoy their work. They also do grooming but I have not used that yet. When you visit the place for the first time, ask to take a walk around the premises. The indoor areas were temperature controlled. They have crates and also "luxury" sleeping areas which are open and a little more expensive if you plan to have your dogs board there. They also have an outdoor play area and they decide where to have the dogs play depending on the temperature. I look forward to working with them more. Apparently Central Bark is a national chain. You have to fill out a form before you start there which you can complete online. I encourage you to do that as soon as possible so you don't forget! They don't have much parking but you're just dropping off your dogs anyway so that isn't an issue. Slow down when you get near because it's easy to miss then you have to drive around the block to get back to this little secret area. read more

The staff are patient and kind and really know the dogs and how they behave. They genuinely seem to enjoy the dogs. When we say "We're going to Central Bark!", our dog perks up and runs to the car. I would not recommend this place at all. I was an out of town visitor who brought my show dog with me on a business trip because I was giving her to a professional handler to take her on the show circuit. I asked them to board her for one day - from 9:00AM until 4:30PM. I told them they could put her in a private kennel and I would even pay the overnight fee although she wasn't staying over night. They refused to take her because she wasn't spay. Hello, she is a show dog, she can't be spay and why would she have to be spay to stay in a private kennel by herself. Heck I would have given them $100, but they didn't even bother to ask what I would pay. That's right, they would even take a little 12 lb dog for a few hours, totally no flexibility at all. read more

They recently competed in Daycare Games and were recognized nationally for their handling skills. You can tell they build loving relationships with all the dogs that visit. The facilities are clean and they post all sorts of fun pictures of the dogs on social media. The location is super convenient for us and parking is easy, too. We took our pup there for grooming bc our normal groomer was booked and they actually did a better job. I found this place on google. I took my 3lb. Yorkie here for grooming and am not pleased. Upon dropping her off I told the groomer trim her face, her anal, trim her ears, and leave her hair kind of long. A day later I'm looking at my dog and there is build-up behind both ears, her ears weren't trimmed, overall she doesn't look like she just came from grooming. I call them to rectify and they invite me to bring my dog in to correct. I take her in and the trim is even worst then it was before jagged edges, hair shaved down more in one area then the other, nicks on her face. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still having a hard time getting used to this. I paid $60 for a 3lb. Dog, after online says $48. I'm still trying to figure out where the extra $12 came from. Also during the correction I asked if her nails were cut and was told if I wanted them grind down it would be $10, as if I hadn't already been inconvenienced enough. read more

the first few times I had my shih tzu groomed here they did a great job and their prices are decent. The past few times I had her groomed, she came home with matted hair under her ears, uneven hair cut (her toe hair was longer in random places as was her leg hair), and I don't think they perform interior anal gland expression which is kind of a pain because then I have to take her to the vet as well.
