Would not recommend for long-term boarding, especially for dogs needing coat maintenance. I boarded my Shih Tzu here from July 11-22. She has a drop coat that requires regular brushing to prevent matting -- I know that's not something a boarding facility can do for free every day, and I never expected that. At drop-off, I explained this to a young woman, possibly Haley (who was doing intake) and the groomer, who happened to be there. I even brought my own brushes and asked for her to be brushed 2-3 times during the week. I was told they'd check with the groomers. We also scheduled a mini groom for pickup day, July 22nd. Over the following days, I checked in on the webcam when I could and noticed she was looking increasingly disheveled. On July 19th, I reached out again to confirm the grooming appointment and to ask if anyone was brushing her, since she looked matted on camera. Haley responded right away and said she'd ask the groomers. On the morning of the 22nd, I got a call from the groomer explaining that my dog was severely matted and would need to be shaved down. When I reminded him I had specifically requested regular brushing at drop-off, he asked who I'd spoken to -- it became clear that the request had not been passed along or acted on for the entire two-week stay. He was apologetic, waived the dematting fee (which I would never have paid), and said he'd try to save as much coat length as possible. When I picked her up, it was obvious he'd tried, but the result was thinned out, uneven and choppy -- chunks clipped short around the mats, with a longer matted section left near her neck and tail and her top knot was a dreadlock. She looked worse, not better, and I had to book an emergency appointment at PetSmart of all places afterward just to even out her cut. What frustrates me most is that this was preventable. A specific, repeated request was made at drop-off and again mid-stay, and nothing happened until the final morning when it was too late to do anything but shave portions of her coat. Why not just do a proper cut? I was hoping this could be a regular daycare spot for my dog since I'm heading back into the office a few days a week, but after this experience I won't be returning. I don't care about the money. I'm hurt and disappointed more than anything. Photo 1: "Discovery Day" on July 8th. The "before" after a full day of daycare. No problem. Photos 2-3: During the stay. Photos 4-6: The "after" on pick-up. read more

After a HORRENDOUS experience at Pup N Cuts, we were dejected. How could a place with such great reviews and reputation turn our Simon into a "Steve" (he didn't look like the same dog in the worst way possible). Enter Bark & Board. Not only do we love them for boarding but decided to give them a shot for grooming as well and we were not disappointed. The facility is well-kept, employees know Simon by name, and rates are competitive. We were very sad to leave Spot for Dogs when we moved from East Atlanta, but B&B has fit the bill. Thanks for all that you do, Simon loves you and so do his pawrents. 5/5 read more

Absolutely love taking my girl here! She always has the most fun! You can tell that the people here absolutely love her as much as I do!

I cannot recommend this place enough! I had a dog sitter fall through and needed a place for Thor to stay. They let me book with a five days notice! Would not recommend! Boarded my dog for a week over new years. The day after we picked him up, he began vomiting up worms. Took him to the vet who told us this was the "worst case" she had ever seen. I contacted bark and board by email twice asking for any information regarding his stay and how he was taken care of as at no time were the cameras actually functioning or showing dogs present, with no response. My dog (Jack, English Bulldog, 11 years old) passed away on 8/2/2022 while staying at a Bark and Board @ Brookhaven. We were on a family vacation overseas and got the news right when we landed. The Boarding place staff took him to the Brookhaven Animal pet hospital after they found him unresponsive in the outside play area (which according to temp records it was around 89 degrees F) but it was already too late, they could not resuscitate him. We talked to the doctor at that hospital and his diagnosis is that he died of a heat stroke, he was overheated (based on his body temperature) and already dead by the time he arrived. We also met with the boarding facility Mgr right after that (Bark and board) and he acknowledged that this was their fault and lack of attention given the breed and temperature outside. Is important to notice that the day we dropped Jack at the boarding place, We explicitly asked the boarding place staff to avoid taking Jack out since its too hot outside and not good for a dog of his breed and age. We are shocked that this happened, Jack was a very healthy dog for his age with no issues in his record. Jack was part of our family, we are all devastated by this sudden news and we don't want this to happen to anyone. Avoid this place if you can... if you love your doggie. read more

I am not too sure what to think of this place. Upon arriving the facility seems really nice and they say your dog is out playing all day inside or outside depending on the weather. First time drop off was easy, I filled out a form online and dropped her off with ease. Then I decided to have her stay over night and called ahead of time and asked specifically each price for each thing. So I was quoted the price for 2 feedings and an overnight stay since the day time was free per my first visit. I also asked per the overnight stay, what is he latest time I can pick her up. I got every last detail there could be. Then when I picked my dog up, they wanted to quote me something else. I told the girl helping that wasn't what was quoted and she was quickly ok with that but I'm not. I don't know if these kids are trying to pull a fast one on customers to keep some cash or was that just a true mess up. So I can certainly forgive that but THEN..... I hear this dog barking pretty obsessively, a kid in the back tells the dog to shut up and then kicks/bangs the cage!!! That I cannot. It looks like they have teens working here and it seems that one doesn't have patience nor dog psychology 101 training. I don't know if I'll ever be comfortable taking my precious little girl here. I mean she's super well behaved so I'm sure her cage will never be banged at but I was only there for 5 minutes. Who's knows what happens all day!! I would only feel ok if they had cameras everywhere that I could tap into and every angle of this place. read more

Helpful staff and great first boarding experience for my pup! He came back smelling great after his bath!

Being new to Atlanta, I didn't have a go to groomer for my pup Zoe. Someone recommended Brookhaven Bark and Board to me, so I decided to give it a go, and I think they will be our new go to groomer! The first thing I noticed was that the lobby is still closed to customers, so they are doing curbside pickup. I really appreciated this because it shows they care about their customers and our health! We got the full service groom and it was pretty affordable, $75 for everything. I dropped Zoe off at 10 for a 2 pm pickup, which was perfect because it gave me enough time to run some errands before picking her back up. When I dropped Zoe off I didn't know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised! She now has the perfect trim and smells so fresh. You can tell they really know how to groom golden retrievers. They definitely treated her well while she was there- she came out with her tail wagging and a huge smile, and even tried to follow the employee back in! Thanks Brookhaven Bark and Board! read more

Here's the scenario: I dropped my dogs off at 1010 for grooming. 1 of them has anxiety and takes sedation meds. I timed them appropriately for a 10am groom. I called at 4pm and they weren't ready. They gave me an estimated time to be ready by 6 (8hr after drop off). I asked what the difference between 10am and noon drop off and she said she didn't know. We live 30min away so we left in time to be there by 6. At 6, they still weren't ready. They informed my husband that 10am was a drop off time and not an appt time and they would *likely* be done by 7. And, if we wanted them to be done as a priority, I would have to pay and additional $25/dog. This is crazy to me. Other groomers take 4hr to groom my dogs (maybe 6 if they're slammed). If I drop them off at 10 they're ready by 2-4. If I'd known there was no difference between 10 and noon I would have dropped them later. Instead, they got to sit in a crate longer and the meds probably wore off before she was done being groomed (they had definitely worn off by the time she got home). I'm not planning on returning to this facility. read more

I tried Puppy Haven at first, they discriminated against my doggo. So NOT Puppy Haven! Now we go to Bark & Board in Brookhaven!! We're 3 weeks in and have had an excellent experience there thus far. Very pleased with the friendly team and they seem to genuinely love my pup! By his 2nd day, the front desk team smiled, got out of their seats and greeted my dog and me on a first name basis! This alone was fulfilling in itself and it gave me confidence my doggo is in great hands! I see the staff on camera giving my doggo belly rubs, love, and attention, just really interacting with all of the dogs as they play. They get snack time, outside time and have kiddy pools to play in on hotter days. Last but not least, when my dog gets home, he is exhausted! He literally plops on the floor to nap. And sometimes, after a long day at work, that's exactly what I need. read more

In a recent stay one of my dogs got into a fight with another one of MY dogs and the the smaller one was injured enough to have to go to an ER. I couldn't be happier with the way that the Brookhaven team handled this personally transporting him to the ER and then to a longer stay hospital, giving me ongoing communication, making sure that his records were transferred from one location to another etc. I felt completely reassured that he was in the best possible hands until we could get home. Mike, the manager, handled this with absolute professionalism and competence. He checked in with me after our dog came home and I have to say, we felt very personally attended to. read more

In light of recent events, I felt compelled to review this business as an actual customer of several years. I routinely care for a friend's dog, and have used Bark and Board's boarding, grooming, and retail services on many occasions since this location opened. I have never experienced anything but the utmost professionalism and exceptional care during every visit. In fact, on several occasions, the staff have gone out of their way to ensure that all necessary records were obtained from the veterinarian to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all the pets. They have also been able to accommodate last minute grooming requests that most other businesses would not be inclined to oblige. There are many places that are simply in the pet business to make a dollar, and I have experienced that firsthand across Atlanta. However, the ownership of Bark and Board has a genuine appreciation and love for animals, and that has always set them apart from their competitors from my perspective. Case in point, they were one of few boarders in the city that went out of their way to take in pets of evacuees in town for Hurricane Florence. That being said, what recently transpired was an extremely unfortunate circumstance. However, to the business's credit, they quickly acted by terminating the employee, referring the matter to the necessary authorities, and implementing safeguards to ensure that this doesn't happen again. That's not the sign of a negligent business - it's the sign of an honest, competent, and responsive business. For that reason, I'll continue to patronize Bark and Board for the foreseeable future. read more

I had my dog stay at the Brookhaven location back in September when we decided to go away for a weekend. Now that I am seeing negative reports and news stories, I wish I had posted earlier. Muffin stayed here for a weekend. While checking up on her I noticed an employee throw her over a gate into a play area on multiple occasions. Watching her being abused while being 13 hours away is one of the worst feelings I have ever felt. Any dog owner, or half decent human understands you don't throw dogs, let alone a 6 pound dog. I frantically called all of their locations with no response. I sent an email including any screenshots I could of what the employee looked like and what I was watching through their video cams. After an hour I received an email from the owner Stuart and a store manager apologizing. They stated "they removed the employee from interacting with dogs and gave him training on handling," along with keeping my dog safe in her area the remainder of the time. The reason why I had not posted earlier is because I believed the owner handled it well at the time. I understand you cannot control your employees every move, so I cut him some slack considering he was very responsive and polite. Unfortunately, I was very wrong. If this employee mishandled my dog that day...he should have been fired, and not given another opportunity to lay his hands (or knees* in this case) on another. * This employee can be found kneeing a dog in a local news report. Please do whatever you can and not bring your pets to this place. They clearly cannot guarantee safety. read more

We used to bring our dog here for day care until TWICE he came home sick/vomiting. After inspecting the vomit, we noticed he ate some food that was not his because we could tell by the shape and color of the food. Dog abusers - check online & the news before you send your angel fur babies here. After 3-4 months of going here with no problems with my dog whatsoever. My dog became "aggressive" during her stays here while I was at work. She was then blamed as the culprit and kicked out. Looking at the news now, I highly believe something more was happening here. I'm now spending over 5,000 to get her rehabilitated by a licensed animal behaviorist & trainer. Dogs should not be mixed into rooms like this with other usually not trained dogs with highschool thugs watching them and kicking them... only trained professionals should be in there with the dogs! This is outrageous to me what I am seeing on the news now of one of their employees kicking a dog repeatedly in the neck!!!!!!! Please do not take your beloved pets here. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I have had two terrible experiences with bark and board. Over the summer I took my dogs to Bark and Board Brookhaven for boarding, and when they came back all three had Kennel cough. My one 10 year old dog almost died from this. This also cost my family 800 dollars in vet bills. I called bark and board and they were not helpful what so ever. I finally was told they would credit my account for their boarding. Last week I called to get one of my dogs groomed and they said there was no credit on my account and the best they could do was a free grooming for my pup. I took him in, hoping bark and board would redeem themselves, and when I got my pup back home I noticed he had cuts on his tummy (picture attached). Bark and board never discussed this with me or told me anything went wrong with the grooming. I will NEVER use this facility again, and I suggest if you care for your pet you don't either. read more

Most groomers will book you by appointment. You pick a time, drop off your pet and a few hours later, they're done and ready for pick up. This place instead has no sort of system for getting your pet groomed in a timely and reasonable manner. Everyone drops off their pet in the morning and it's basically a free-for-all, with ONE person doing all the grooming. They had my 13-yr old blind dog in a crate for 7 hours and I had to come pick her up without being groomed because I didn't want her there for 8-9 hours. The worst part is that nobody will communicate to you that this is how it works so you drop off under the assumption that they'll be ready in a few hours, and you literally won't hear anything back until the very end of the day. Terrible system and poorly trained staff read more

Quickly loosing confidence in this business given the experience my dog has had on the last few visits. One time he has a cut on his paw, then the dog cams I paid extra for didn't work, and most recently his bed wasn't put back together for him to sleep on it so he slept on the concrete floor. Nobody answers after hours at the location and I sent an email to the business email and got no response. Not sure what has changed but something has and not for the good. Maybe time to go back to Pet Paradise where they have 24 hour staffing. Update After Receiving a Phone Call from the Owner: To make matters even more unprofessional, the owner called me right after I submitted this review and was very rude to me and essentially told me to take my business elsewhere. Oddly enough he said his staff bent over backwards for my dog yet they failed to return my phone call and email from yesterday despite my multiple attempts to reach them about my dog. How ironic that he responded to this Yelp review within two minutes but didn't take the time to return my voicemail nor email from 24 hours ago. My dog has now come home with an upset stomach as well which he did not have when he checked in to add to this issue. This is no way to operate a business professionally to say the least. To basically call a customer that provided honest feedback on not one but multiple experiences and essentially not even take responsibility isn't acceptable nor proper customer service. All businesses makes mistakes and that is fine when customer shares their feedback getting mad at the customer isn't a viable solution. read more

I originally posted a review of this place when my dog first stayed with them, but was encouraged to remove it. I have since had many discussions around the Ashford Park neighbourhood about this place and the reception is far from positive so I felt the need to share my experience. My dog stayed with them for a week and came home with a double ear infection and puppy warts that 2 months later we still can't get rid of. Our vet is recommending surgery. When I told the owner about them the day we picked up my dog I said to him how upset and disappointed I was and he told me he would "look into it." Another one of my neighbours said they went to drop their dog off there this week and heard people aggressively yelling at the dogs. read more

NEVER leave your pets here!! We left our lab here for a few days and she was terrified when we got her back. Acting out and having accidents, it was very out of character for her. I used to board my dog there and personally had bad experiences with the staff. They are full of attitude, terribly trained and the owner seems to not care! I contacted the owner and he seemed very indifferent to the issue, actually backing up the employee. I'm glad the dog abuse video came out viral and hope they go completely out of business. Also, during the summer months they leave the dogs in the blasting heat and I have caught them leaving them outside when it rains too. I have addressed the issue with the staff on a hot day when I left my dog there and they said that "that's what sets them apart from other facilities". The outdoor space is great on proper conditions, but the staff is just too lazy to move the dogs inside when needed. SMH read more

I find it extremely unfair for people to leave negative reviews when they don't even use the services of Bark and Board. My dog has been attending Bark and Board in Brookhaven for almost three years now. We leave her every week for day care and also use the overnight boarding at least once a month. Every December we leave her for well over a week. Our dog loves when we drop her off. The staff knows her by name and loves seeing her as well. We have had off and on issues with customer service from the front desk, but we can tell that the staff loves our dog. Customer service issues are mostly with forgetting to book grooming appointments or failure to provide clear billing information. The bills are always correct; I am never charged incorrectly. The problem is mostly with providing receipts that are unclear. But Stuart does what he can to improve the service every single time. I DO NOT BELIEVE FOR A SECOND THAT OTHER EMPLOYEES BEHAVE AS THIS ABUSER DID AND KNOW FOR A FACT THAT STUART DOES NOT CONDONE SUCH BEHAVIOR. Every business that deals with care and customer service will eventually be faced with a bad employee. It is how they respond that matters. Stuart fired this person instantly and contacted the police for immediate action. I have not seen signs of animal abuse going back to 2016. And I have not seen management refuse to take responsibility or act to improve. This abusive act by one employee is not a common theme here. To suggest otherwise is false. And I do take my dog here and will continue to bring my dog to Bark and Board. Disregard the reviews left by people whose pets do not attend Bark and Board. Listen instead to what Stuart says, watch what he does, and believe those who actually go to Bark and Board. To punish an entire staff of dog loving employees because of one bad person is reckless. Do not lump the rest of the employees in with this bad person. read more

I agree with Brian! I've been bringing my furbabies to Bark & Board for several years: first to Westside, which I lived near at the time, and for the past year to Bark & Board Brookhaven. I was distressed to hear about the guilty employee. A bad apple can appear any time, so please don't slay the owners (unless they knew about it and didn't do anything, which I doubt.) I've had nothing but good experiences here. I am sure Stewart and Scott will take whatever steps are necessary to keep their employees trained and alert. As far as non-customers, especially those in NY and San Francisco, please keep your opinions to yourself. I think Yelp should delete their reviews. read more

Do not go here. The staff has poor communication and does not do right by the customer. I boarded my cats this past week and anticipated the prices stated online. When I arrived to pick up my cats they had tacked an extra $60 onto my bill.
