I've taken my new pup to The Clean Dog for grooming, doggie daycare and boarding and every service has been wonderful. The staff is so nice, friendly, and caring. They go above and beyond to meet the individualized needs of each dog. My rescue pup has separation anxiety and does not do well in crates. I had to board her when I went out of town and I was concerned about how she would do. The amazing staff made special accommodations for her to ensure she was safe and happy while I was out of town. I love bringing my dog to doggie daycare. The amazing staff works with my rescue pup on training, obedience, and social skills every day. Thanks to the staff, my dog's behavior and interactions with other dogs and humans has greatly improved since I started bringing her there. They've got great hours 2. The location on Edgewood is very convenient 3. The folks there are generally pleasant and range of products is also good. Now the cons: 1. They hurt my dog. Yes, hurt. He has gotten nicked and burned now in the last 2 visits. Nothing drastic but his underside is red and inflamed. He was not matted nor was it a close buzz. And now he can't stop licking his underside... luckily we've got medicine and a cone (since this happened last time) to heal him up 2. They don't follow directions. When you drop off, you go through things you'd like special treatment for... They write it down on the sheet and you talk through the cut and details. You seemingly have reasonable assurance they've gotten it. False. You can count on them doing whatever they want in the end. So instead of having a trimmed beard, they left it untouched. Probably helps that whoever at the front desk isn't the groomer... So she obviously can't convey your needs... Smart setup. Number 1 alone is reason enough to find another spot. I can't figure out why the turn downhill... Guessing new, untrained groomers and some mismanagement. Save your pooch (and yourself) the pain (yes, actual pain) and go somewhere else. read more

Bought my dog here a few weeks ago to be groomed and I wasn't that impressed with the cut. I asked for my Pomeranian to have a low cut around her body and for her face to have to signature Pomeranian cut. When I picked her up, I felt her body was shaved too low and there was no type of grooming done to the fur around her ears and face. I showed a picture of how I wanted my dog cut but it wasn't replicated very well. I paid $60 for my dog's cut and I was unsatisfied with the results. Needless to say I won't be returning. I will not be returning to this store. I got my fluffy husky washed/ groomed here. Firstly, I informed them my dog did not like the dryer on his head , I offered to give them a bone to distract him because it has worked in the past. they said they have an alternate way of drying if the was being difficult. Second, I asked to trim his belly where he pottys and his butt because he's so fluffy . 4 hours went by with no call and 30 minutes until they closed. so I called them only to be told they were just now washing him. When I went to pick him up they handed him to me wet. literally his whole body. " oh he didn't like the dryer so we couldn't dry him" Like what?? and then to find out they didn't trim his hair around his potty areas , They SHAVED him. he was a skinned animal. They shaved my dogs bum hole. not the area around it. the inch around his hole. and cut up his whole tummy. He was scooting his butt on the ground for days afterwards. As the rating indicates, "Meh, I've experienced better". While the cut was what I asked for --my big man looks handsome as always with his summer cut. There were several things about the visit that i did not enjoy. I'll start with positives. Their early start time works well with my work schedule. I can drop my lil dude off on my way to work which is always nice. For the most part, the start are friendly. I did feel like they were trying to push a few products on me so just stand your ground and know what you want. The groomer (I can't remember his name) was very friendly and seemed eager to take care of my pooch. While there, I noted that my dog has two hurt hind legs. He's a 10 year old border collie and he blew out his knees a couple of years ago. He's already had surgery on one and the other is on the mend. One wrong movement and he would need another surgery. i reiterated this to them several times prior to my appointment. He was still limping and in severe pain for several days after our appointment. While I was there in the morning discussing what I needed, I noted that he had some matting in his fur on his hind legs due to spending time on a farm in the country with my parents. They said it wouldn't be a problem. i asked for a quote and received one for about $80 by the owner/manager who was also there that morning and heard our conversation regarding grooming needs--not bad for a 70lb dog. When I picked him up, the young woman who was very nice and helpful, informed me that my price was nearly $50 more than what I was quoted. You can imagine my shock. The young woman got the manager/owner on the phone who proceeded to be of no help. She just simply apologized and offered no solution for the problem. She cited the issue as being the matting but I brought this up to them in the morning when i dropped him off --that should have been taken into consideration for the quote. Again, she provided no solution or assistance with the issue. Further, if you provide a quote for a costumer and you see that it is going to increase by $50 it maybe a good idea to call them and let them know. When I was finally able to leave with my pup, he could barely wait to get outside to relieve himself --it was as if he was back there all day with no potty break. (I dropped him at 7a and picked him at 6p). Further, when we got home, he seemed to be dehydrated as he drank 2 full bowls of water as soon as he walked into the house. Overall, the cut was good. The groomer did what I asked; however, the negatives made me feel like I will continue heading back to the groomers of East Atlanta Village. read more

I've come to The Clean Dog many times, with my same dog, ordered the same servive, and never paid the same price. Today they quoted me $35-45 and then when they called to say he was ready they said it would cost $60. (This is for a shih tzu, and not a full groom). The first time I took him in they said that the deciding factor between the $35-$45 is how well the dog behaves, but they charged me $45 after saying he was very well behaved. 5 paws up for another great dog place! The Clean Dog has been open in Inman Park for a few years now. It's a dog-it-yourself dog wash and also a store for higher-end dog & cat food and supplies. We used to only go when it was colder outside (when we couldn't wash the dogs in the driveway), but now with the watering restrictions - it comes in very handy! It's really easy - you go in say you want to wash your dog(s) and they set you up at a raised tub with an apron, a bucket full of the essentials, and some towels. And you just wash and it's that easy! It ranges from $10-20/dog. You can also pay more for them to do it for you. They also do grooming for those more high maintenance dogs. Great place - serves it's purpose. Very friendly, they make a good effort to get to know their furry customers. And once you buy 5 washes - your 6th one is free! The are even moving over to a new location (just a few doors down) to make the space even bigger and to separate the store from the grooming/bathing area. They are working on getting the zoning approved now - so if you stop in - be sure to sign their petition! read more

ok so I admit, I am a little bit more than obsessed with my pup... which of course means that I want only the best for my tiny Maltese Mr. Johnny (yep - I am one of "those" dog ppl....sad yet true!) this place was great. the staff are friendly and attentive. I wanted to get my 5.5-month old puppy accustomed to the grooming process, so I searched Yelp for a dog groomer and came upon The Clean Dog. I called and made an appointment for the coming weekend and found the woman I spoke with to be very courteous and helpful. We decided on the 'Midtown' because my dog is still getting his full coat in (only needed some minor clean up). For $35 my little Ollie had his nails clipped, paws and ears trimmed and looked beautiful and fluffed (not to mention happy)! I use the Clean Dog for nail clipping and misc. food / treat purchases. The front gate is a good touch to prevent run-a-way dogs out the door. The store is small but spacious. The nail clipping service--$7 well spent if your dogs hates this grooming activity--is fast and effective. They had no problem getting the job done with my squirrelly/hyperactive dog. I had Raven cut my puppy Colonel Peppers after being referred here by a neighbor. I came out literally perfect. Col is a mini schnauzer and can be a handful to cut. My chihuahuas nails grow at an alarming rate. This is my go-to for his nail trimmings. It's only $7, somebody is always there to do the clipping, the staff is super friendly, and it's always a pleasant trip. This place is well worth the trip. Plus you can get your dog groomed and walk around the block with her/him after and have a delicious vegan riblet sandwich and a beer at Estoria as their patio is dog friendly. Score! read more

Each time I look at my pups I am compelled to leave this post. I might as well have thrown $150 out the window for the poor grooming job I paid for. Previous service has been borderline but I am convinced that giving a great cut is not their forte. My specific directions and request was for a breed face on each while the rest of the body was going to be low. I have two different breed dogs who traditionally have a undeniable face specifically the beard, ears, eyebrows etc, both were cut the same not looking anything as they should and choppy at that...I've heard about past issues where they did not have hot water and were bathing the dogs in cold water...I'm really done with them for as much as I want to patronize this business owned by an AAW. Can't throw good money after bad. Be forewarned!! read more

Came back to pick her up and waited for an hour just for them to tell me they had lost her! Eventually I found her an hour later hiding behind a dog cage scared for her life because she's the only cat in a room full of big dogs barking, then I noticed her paws weren't even dyed the right color or barely even dyed! I am writing to issue you all a warning before taking your pet to this establishment. I brought my cat to The Clean Dog for a routine grooming appointment earlier this month. The cat did have some small mats but otherwise he is very well behaved and has been easy to groom in the past. When I picked up my cat, he had suffered over 10 deep wounds and was bleeding from multiple spots all over his body. My pet was visibly traumatized from what had happened and I took him straight to the vet where he needed IV and topical steroids and antibiotics as well as pain medications. When I asked Marie about what happened, she blamed me over and over again for what The Clean Dog did to my cat. She then offered to reimburse the vet bill and the grooming cost as "hush money" signing a confidentiality agreement so I cannot warn anyone else about what happened which I refused. The Clean Dog mauled my cat, injured an innocent animal multiple times, and never once apologized for what happened. Please see the photos attached for evidence of what they did. I took my pup here for his first grooming and it went great! He's a chihuahua mix with mommy issues, and though he was happy to see me after 3 hours in a strange place, he didn't appear distressed at all (my first concern). For $30 he got his nails clipped, his fur washed, conditioned, and brushed, his ears (and unmentionables) cleaned, and a treat for being so good. Although the person I spoke to on the phone didn't sound enthusiastic (or even pleasant for that matter), the rest of the service was just fine. The people The Clean Dog do a fantastic job!! They're also reasonably priced. I haven't gone to any other groomers since I started taking my dogs here about a year ago. I have a young pit mix and I just get her bathed and nails trimmed and she always looks, smells and feels great! I also have a 15 year old black lab mix who gets bathed and nails trimmed too but also I get his hair cut in the summer. I get a puppy cut for him and he seriously looks 10 years younger every time! So cute!! He had some fatty tumors (benign) on his sides and chest and they always do a good job to make sure to be careful around them and the way they cut his hair doesn't even make them more noticeable like some places have in the past! He also has dandruff and they have an oatmeal bath they do that really helps a lot! For two baths, two nail trims and one oatmeal bath it's just $73! Not bad at all! And I could pick them up less than 2 hours later. Heads up: they don't take American Express but that's not a big deal. Everyone that works there is super nice and I had have my roommate pick them up for me so I called and they let me pay in advance over the phone! Highly recommend this place!! read more

I have mixed feelings about them at this point. Had an appointment this morning for 7:00 am right when they open that I had scheduled several days ago. Woke up at 6:30 on my day off to walk my dog over there and drop him off only to find absolutely NO ONE present to open the store or any indication that there was anyone inside opening. Stayed outside until about 7:10 to try to give them a fair shake in case someone was just stuck in traffic or a few minutes late (which would still be unacceptable given I had a scheduled appointment) and no one showed up at all. When I scheduled the appointment they were obviously understaffed (which you could have guessed from the sign out front saying they're hiring) the one groomer on staff was very noticeable flustered and aggravated especially at the idea that she had to go up front to help me and then answer the phone on top of that. The other new employee had to come up and help me half way through as I wanted to check and see if they still had my dogs vaccination information in their computer from the first time I had brought him there as this would have been our first return visit. She was new and not entirely familiar with the computer system and the groomer had no interest in helping her figure it out, but after a minute or two she found the records and I left. The first time I took him here in February I dropped him off at 7 am on a Tuesday morning with no appointment he had a satisfactory haircut and bath (though his nails were not trimmed like they said they would) and I was about to pick him up at about 11 am. He's not good in crates and they were slow enough that they just let him wander around the story and let him play with the other dogs while they watched him as he dried off which I thought was really great given that I'm not generally a fan of crates and he's a very social dog. So far these have been VERY polarizing experiences and I think they are obviously (from my experience and other reviews here) having some serious staffing issues that are affecting their customer service abilities. However when a key holder isn't even present to show up and open the store in the morning there's also got to be an owner/management issue. I hope they work this out because my first experience with them was so good and they're a very convenient walk that I would hate to have to write them off entirely. read more

Have been going there a couple of years now and have never been disappointed with the service. I booked here because my regular groomer was booked out and I had friends coming into town/wanted my dog cleaned up asap. Called around to a few places and everywhere was booked out except this place. That should have been an indicator. When I arrived, the place was not in a nice location and was a bit dingy inside but we talked over my dogs haircut, they took him in the back, and I left feeling very nervous. I was told he'd be ready around 1-2. No phone call, go to pick up my dog at 4, he's done. He came out so timid, scared, and would hardly let me touch him for days and days after this grooming appt. He had scabs all over his back and his skin shrugged away from the touch for days. He also seemed timid like he had been mistreated. My dog is very outgoing, well-adjusted, regularly attends daycare at another facility and has never acted this way before or since. Do your pup a favor and avoid this place! Side note: The groomer was also hitting on me to an uncomfortable degree while I was trying to pay for my dog. Bad experience overall. read more

I took my former employer's dogs here regularly (their choice) because the shop was nearby. Even when I made appointments a week in advance and called to confirm pick-up times, it was a fiasco. Timing means nothing to these people. I'd call 20 minutes ahead and they'd swear the dog was "ready". However, when I'd arrive to collect the dog, it's another story, which usually translates to an additional 30 minute wait. So thanks for that. Of course, as other reviewers point out, you CAN hear the groomers talking about you in the back room, when you're obviously inconvenienced by their disregard for your time. "Why's she here so early - why can't she wait? This dog takes longer than that!" And then they want to chew your ear for another 20 minutes to complain about the dog. Who's in the wrong here? Me, evidently, for expecting businesslike follow-through. If 6 hours isn't enough time to groom a dog, then say so on the front end. Or on the phone. Stop mis-representing your service. read more

First impression: Very mixed. I talk to a groomer who was extremely friendly and very excited about grooming my pup. The following customer service experiences were pretty poor. A younger girl on the phone had zero customer service skill and was unfriendly. Upon bringing my pup in for the appointment, Papa Roach's "Last Resort" was playing (loudly) in the shop. That set a really strange, uncomfortable tone. I was asked to write down some information, and the emotionless attendant takes my dogs leash. Without saying a word, she promptly walks away, tugging my pup behind her. It was honestly sort of heartbreaking and gave me real pause to see the lack of customer care to both myself and my dog. To make matters worse, I live nearby and made it clear to the groomers that I didn't want my pup spending all day in a crate. They assured me that he'd be washed and groomed within just a few hours. A few hours went by and I heard nothing. I called and was told it'd be another hour. Another hour went by and still, nothing. 4 hours later, my dog was groomed, but not before the groomer was short with me and told me that if I wanted the breed cut (which I'd requested already), it was going to take longer than if I just had him trimmed and I should consider bringing him back the next day if I wanted the breed cut. I opted to have him trimmed because I couldn't stand to think that he'd sat in a crate all day for nothing. In the end, the cut itself was fine, but I was very disappointed in the experience I had and will not be returning. My dog sat in a crate all day, something I specifically wanted to avoid. I was misled repeatedly regarding the timeliness of service. I really wish that the woman I'd spoken to originally who was friendly and excited to groom my pup had been the one I'd dealt with, but unfortunately for me and my pup, it wasn't.
