I am a hearty eater (not at all picky), I like greasy spoons, and I do not have a sensitive stomach. That said, I went Cedars for lunch and was queasy all afternoon. The place is small and doesn't seem very clean. I had a turkey club - it tasted funny and there was way too much mayo on it. I didn't eat very much of the sandwich, and instead opted for the bag of chips that came with it. I ordered French Toast, and it was the thinnest French Toast I've ever had and it looked and tasted like they used wheat bread to make it. My friend ordered eggs and sausage, and she was unhappy with her meal as well. Also, although our main server wore a mask the entire time she served us, another server (who refreshed our coffee, etc.) had a mask on, but had it placed below her bottom lip so her nose and mouth were completely exposed. What's the point of wearing a mask if it doesn't cover your nose and mouth? We were at the restaurant about an hour, and by the time we left, none of the servers were wearing masks. Have only eaten breakfast here and it is superb. Me and my husband go on the weekends and have never been disappointed. We get the breakfast special which is 2 eggs, a large piece of ham, hash browns or grits and toast or biscuits and gravy. The portions are large and obviously homemade. My husband loves the biscuits and sausage gravy but the biscuits are a little heavy for me. Not that they aren't great and like my grandmothers but I can't eat all my plate plus two large biscuits and gravy as well. When you get there, seat yourself. Usually I am pleased with my meals at Cedars South. Today was a different story. I ordered the ribeye steak and am I ever sorry. I had maybe 6 bites that wasn't filled with gristle. Probably the worst meal ever that I have eaten out. I left at least two thirds of the steak on the plate and told the waitress. The waitress took my plate to show the cook. I wasn't offered a discount on the meal. I was offered something in replacement which I declined because it was at the end of the meal and I had my stomach full on mashed potatoes, slaw and a dinner roll. I don't know if I will ever go back again. My wife had a chicken breast a while back which was so dry that she wasn't able to eat it. read more

We've been there three times and each time was wonderful. Monday through Saturday have special that includes eggs and a breakfast meat for that day. Today I had the Cedars hash browns. Cheese, tomatoes, peppers, ham and potatoes. It filled the plate and was wonderful. Included an English muffin. Consistant food and service. This is a place you want to eat. Not only for breakfast. Open until 8 each day but only until 2 on Sunday. It is our go to restaurant and lots of parking. read more

My family and I had the worst experience there because of a waitress named Shawna M made us wait 30min to even take our order so I left ,then found out she waited on another table before she even took the orders of my family that remained to eat . My husband and I go to Cedar' South a lot. We love it there. We love the food, and we love the wait staff. In particular, we love Jeneta. She is a total hoot, takes great care of her customers, and always has a smile on her face. We have the Daily specials, sandwiches, breakfast, steaks, whatever fits the bill for that day. I love breakfast; my husband loves the French dip. My grand-daughter always orders the "Ham Breakfast" with ham, eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit and gravy. Did I say that you get a LOT of food? First of all, this is a amazing diner, great food, good atmosphere, nice staff, the whole package. This was my first job, I worked in the dish pit cleaning dishs. The kitchen is clean, everything is cleaned at the end of the day so it's spotless. Everything is restocked daily and the owner is in his office every day. The floors are sweeped and cleaned every day, the bathrooms are cleaned everyday, and the whole entire staff try there hardest to get people's orders in ASAP. I have never been here before, but met a friend there for breakfast. This place has been here for a while and it has its regular clientele, and yes its pretty busy. Staff are very polite, and very friendly. This place is older, but very clean. I can drink coffee like no one's business and they have really good coffee. I had the chicken fried steak, hash brown, and toast. Their breakfast and the food was very good and plenty of it. Trust me you won't go away hungry. This place has the most discusting wait staff I have ever seen. No manager presence and the service line is in view of many guest. Problem begins with everyone eating at waitress station. This is ok I guess but not one of them while eating toast bothered to wash their hands before handling breads and rolls for guest. I wonder, after reading other reviews, if we all ate at the same place. Cedars is Fantastic! I have never had a rude waitress, or burnt breakfast. A couple years ago, Cedars on Campbell was having some issues with food taking too long and then arriving cool. Not great for eggs. Good, basic, cheap dinner/coffee shop fare. Dinner specials are posted nightly and are really reasonable. Breakfasts are hardy and actually cost a little more than some of the dinner specials. (I know, go figure!) I know they don't make everything fresh; their nightly vegetable of the day obviously comes from a can. Well, I ate canned veggies most of my childhood so it actually brings back homey memories for me. They also serve a good burger and club sandwich, always on the menu, in case the specials don't thrill you.
