I went to Cedar Performance for over two years. In the beginning, Matt was friendly and helpful. He influenced me to buy a number of performance parts for me car. "Now you just need this..." and "Now you just need that and it'll work better" and eventually over time, my car got to the point where few people in town could work on it and I became dependent on him as a mechanic and tuner. Over time, it started taking him longer and longer to finish work on my car when I would bring it to him, especially if I paid him up front, to the point where it was in his shop for weeks at a time for things that seemed like they should take alot less time. I noticed other people were complaining about that as well. He even mentioned to me once that there was talk of him being sued for this. It was certainly the case for me that my car was there for very long periods at a time. My motor eventually failed, and had to be replaced. My original thought was to buy one from a company, but Matt said he could do it and quicker. It took around 8 months for him to build the motor and get it in my car. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of paying him "up-front" for almost everything. I got frustrated a couple times, and Matt became more and more rude and unprofessional to me over time, often making comments such as he was "sick of my car". I'm attaching some text messages he sent me. To me, this was unacceptable. All I wanted was for him to fix my car and get it back to me in a reasonable timeframe. When I picked it up, however, it had issues and was not running right. I asked him if, this time, he could let me know when I could drop it off on a day he would actually be able to work on it, as opposed it sitting around the shop while he worked on "higher paying jobs" as he put it to me at one point. After dropping it off, it was there almost two months. When I picked it up, it still had all the same issues it had when I dropped it off, except for the suspension squeak that he fixed. I had had enough at this point. I desperately searched around for a place I could take my car, and finally found a great place. I have spent literally thousands of dollars to have my car fixed since I got it back from Matt. In the process, it was revealed that his work was sub-par. For example, the air filter was literally half way off the intake pipe. This is very dangerous because it could allow water to get into the engine and perhaps bend a rod. There were cables laid on top of the engine. The catch can wasn't even hooked up, and a few other things too. We also found out that the spark plugs were bad, something I asked him to check when he was trying to figure out why my car was missing, at which point he became insulted that I even asked such a basic question. I'm attaching photos to demonstrate what I feel was poor quality work from Matt at Cedar Performance. I do not recommend Cedar Performance, based not only on what, in my experience, was poor quality work, but also very long times that mine and other customers cars were in his shop as he worked on other cars and I waited and waited patiently. I won't be returning to that shop, and won't recommend anyone else go there either.

For example, the air filter was literally half way off the intake pipe (see attached air filter photo). There were cables laid on top of the engine. The catch can wasn't even hooked up, and a few other things too. We also found out that the spark plugs were bad, something I asked him to check when he was trying to figure out why my car was missing, at which point he became insulted that I even asked such a basic question. Those spark plugs are why the motor was missing. Photos do not lie, as to two other mechanics who witnessed and can back up what is in the phots below; one of them was an air filter not even hooked up all the way, cables laying across the motor, large plastic pieces not even connected and simply unattached on top of the engine etc. He claimed my car made good power on his dyno and didn't miss however that is simply not true at all, as proven by the spark plugs pulled by the other shop right after taking it to them. Matt once made the comment "Unfortunately the n54 engine has a host of natural issues" and my car was "plagued" with them. This simply is not the case - the reality is, he didn't even check basic mechanic issue such as spark plugs, and whether he installed port injection correctly and literally spent weeks trying to figure out why my car was missing and going into limp mode. However, another shop was able to quickly resolve these issues within a few hours. The ONLY reason I stopped taking my car to Matt and Cedar Performance, is due to the very long wait times (two mechanics told me someone came to them after having their cat at Matts for AN ENTIRE YEAR); any claims by Matt of personal problems on my end are simply lies and completely untrue. I do not recommend Cedar Performance, based not only on what, in my experience, was poor quality work, but also very long times that mine and other customers cars were in his shop as he worked on other cars and I waited and waited patiently. I won't be returning to that shop, and won't recommend anyone else go there either.

We even let that slide. The mechanic never showed up the next day. I even sent a text. He responded that he would call but there was nothing. I wasted time trying to work with this company. Had I have known I could have gotten someone that was willing to do the work. I would never refer or attempt to use them again.

Power steering went out shortly after that and I haven't driving the car for two months. Took it to a trusted mechanic shop to diagnose again LAST WEEK and they confirmed it's the transmission that needs to be inspected by a transmission shop. I'll remove this review if the transmission shop confirms it's the ecu as well that needs to be replaced. (Response to owner) There's no issue I was waiting to confirm if the diagnoses given to me was correct to right my review. Forgive me for not remembering it was 125 exactly but , $125 for what auto zone does for free was my issue . I was expecting a real diagnosis by a mechanic to pin point the issue with accuracy and given a game plan not a simple computer diagnostic test that was for a code I already knew it had.

Finally, a shop that helps me plan/ budget. See reasons why they are now "my place" 1. Got my vehicle back from two planned services - BIG items. The identified problems were FIXED and NO unexpected new issues over the past ~6 mths drive time since the 1st repair was done and ~2 wk since 2nd repair done (but lots of mile - couple of road trips, lol). 2. Their bumper-to-bumper inspection is detailed in a an online report (pics; vids; descriptions). It identifies critical issues (fix now); concerns (fix to prevent bigger issues); consider (future items). The report helped me to plan/ budget the repairs. 3. After asking for the full report, they provided even though they knew I might have sticker shock which I did. They patiently walked me through and answered my many questions via the phone, and let me take time to decide on options: keep/invest or trade in. The report allowed me to consider new vehicle (prices/longterm commitment) vs. the one-time fixes. With a shop that truly fixes the problem and no unexpected new problems, am keeping my baby; well that and she is fun to drive, lol. 4. The online report/ front office staff (Connor; Averie) are able to keep up with my extremely busy work schedule; are genuinely professionally patient with a non-mechanical person (me); if they didnt know the answers they asked the mechanics and got back to me quickly which provided insights on the repair options and then let me decide what works for me/ my budget/ my future plans. ...Again, this shop is now "my place".
