Following up from Jorge's review, and to clarify some details from Jordan's (wrong) understanding of the events, I was the one who had the dish in question (pan fried gnocchi with the missing chicken).
For starters, the food in general was good, including my dish, which only by the end had I realized that it was supposed to have chicken. We told our server and she checked with her manager, and offered to take the dish off the bill, which we appreciated it as a gesture considering the food was good.
Once the bill came, they had only discounted $5.00 for the missing chicken (this was likely the decision of the manager). We reminded our server that we were offered the whole dish be taken off, and asked to speak with the manager.
Now THIS is where things got out of hand. The Manager, Brownwyn, honestly felt like a 5 year old in the playground who just had to have her way. She was very rude, showed nothing but attitude, and once Jorge said "with this kind of service you make it hard to come back again", to which Bronwyn replied by smacking the bill on the table and saying "oh if you're not going to come back then I won't discount anything" as she walked away with sass. This is where Jorge asked to pay directly to the owner after complaining about Bronwyn, who by the end took off the dish, but had to come back with all her attitude to say "I took it off, I didn't lie". Honestly, having worked at fast food restaurants in the past like McDonalds, I have never seen a manager behave in this manner towards customers. Jorge requested a sincere apology before paying (as she was the main cause of this whole dilema), and she gave a sarcastic apology while saying "well it's illegal not to pay anyways". We knew this wasn't our server's fault and reassured her of this, but Bronwyn did nothing but throw fuel to the fire, again, worse than a 5 year old who couldn't get her way.
Based on other comments on the Cavallo Nero Facebook page, for example from Bailee D. On February 7th, which mentioned a bad experience with a confrontational manager who didn't introduce herself, I can only assume this is how Bronwyn likes to treat customers as this doesn't seem to be her first rodeo.
If you want good food where you have to do check your dish to make sure everything is Included, and don't mind dealing with a 5 year old with an attitude for a manager, then I would definitely recommend this place, otherwise, stay away or wait for a staff change.
Jordan, I'm sure you got a convenient story from the restaurant's staff, or maybe you're friends with someone who works there. They discounted the dish at the end (see above), but originally they only discounted 5, not 20, and the dish was 18, not 20, so I'm not sure where you're getting these "facts". Keep in mind they would've been fine charging for an incomplete dish. We would've been happy if they had offered to discount only the chicken as the original solution, but not have Bronwyn change the offered discount as a "oh so he did like the dish? Then take only the chicken" kind of mentality. Also love how you failed to mention that the issue of not paying didn't come until after Bronwyn came in, to which Jorge said he'd pay directly to the owner only after complaining about Bronwyn. read more
