Party of 4 adults and three young boys. We enjoyed. Food came quickly and was piping hot. My chicken parm and spaghetti were very good. The cutlet was large, fresh and tender. Sauce is good. Our family commented to each other: the only thing missing is a true parmesan for grating if desired, rather than the North American made grated bagged parm. It was the first time we went there. It was a party of 7. First, the restaurant was clean and charming. We were put in the back room for privacy and I appreciated that. The staff were very friendly and we shared some laughs. The food was very good. If I was to nit pick the service was a tad slow, but I think that is part of the charm as all the meals were cooked fresh in house (the sauces didn't taste pre-prepared) and everything came out hot. Another minor issue was there was no bread for the tables which we would have enjoyed to sop up our sauces! As a plain dessert guy I would have liked a tartufo but no such luck! Stopped by for lunch and had an olio e aglio spaghettini that I absolutely enjoyed. It was simple and very classically made. The bruschetta was just bruschetta. Nothing extraordinary. My company had the butternut squash ravioli and their pasta special for the day with salmon. They didn't love their dishes as much, and I second their opinion (-1 star). Came here for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. They also have a semi-private room at the back for 10 people. I had the munca italiano (a roast beef + mushroom + cheese) sandwich and the calamari. The calamari was average but the roast beef sandwich was delicious! One my fav Italian spots anywhere. Very cozy and the staff are very friendly without being pushy. The calamari is always my go to app. I went with the baked ziti (Carbonara) and my wife had linguini arabiatta with chicken. Great traditional Italian fare. We can always count on being completely satisfied by a meal here. The feta bruschetta is always a must. So delicious, I usually order the full order so I can take home. The wait staff are absolutely the best, so friendly and personable. The atmosphere is probably one of the most comfortable of sit down restaurants in the city, even when they are busy, and they do get really busy. for years this is our regular place for meals if we are ever in Hamilton or close by. Food quality is good and solid, it is predictable and stable. service is really friendly. It can be a terribly busy place especially on the weekends, however the waitresses can keep their cool and get everybody happy. We have been to many restaurants over the years and enjoy trying different cuisines and dishes. We are not fine dining type people so our expectations are mid-range. I can't say anything good about our eating experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere is old and slightly run down....very old world Italian....OLD meaning that it needed a paint job and some repairs. Service was slow, depending on what was available in the kitchen is my guess. Our bread came at the same time as our main course...most others had a nice loaf to treat themselves way before that. Caesar salad was adequate, and then the fiasco began!!!!!!! My hubby ordered a lamb shank, came with a risotto and veg of the day. I ordered a veal marsala. The wait continues. The lamb shank had been slow cooking for a loooong time. Not much meat on the bone and meat had shrunk back on the bone so over half of it was exposed....kind of naked looking when presented. Risotto looked like it was starched beyond belief and the green beans were floating in an oily mixture that looked like cheap veg oil with an extra brown coating of over browned parmesan. AND HIS WAS THE BETTER MEAL. My Marsala came and had the same dismal beans with 5 or 6 chunks of dried out cold roasted potatoes. (Where was the lovely rosemary that the menu talked about?) The veal was floating in a very thin glaze of marsala, not even enough to cover the veal. The flour on the veal was too heavy and falling off the meat.....and then on top of that....the veal was rubbery. I complained to the waitress and she was very understanding and asked what else could she bring me. I ordered a plain 'ol chicken tettrazini and the wait began again. Waiting isn't so bad, but then the owner approached me and asked what the problem was. I mentioned my main concerns. He argued with me that the veal was fine because he had tried it. The beans were traditional and tossed in BUTTER (not the grease I saw). No apologetic phrases came out of his mouth and no offer of an compensation for a drink or an appetizer. Fettucini arrived and it was o.k. If you could get past the white sauce that was separating and pooling butter on my plate it was almost edible. Dessert and coffee was refused. We just wanted to leave. Afraid we won't be back and we could NEVER recommend this place.......oh where did Olive Garden go? At least it's decent and consistent read more

The butternut squash, is to die for, very delicious, as our the many other dishes. And the desserts and very good as well. The owner and always friendly, as our the staff. Their service is fucking slow as hell here, been here for 40 mins now and only the appetizer came after half hour. I hate the fact that they serve pork in literally all of their foods along with wine in everything too. They are definitely not considerate of other races like myself where I cannot eat pork or have alcohol of any sort in foods and dont have other alternatives for food non pork and alcohol related you know??? Stopped by for a nice lunch with my mom. We love italian food and had driven by a few times, so we decided to try out the place. I loved the menu - full of delicious-looking traditional italian dishes that I would have loved to try. I decided on the Tuscan Minestrone soup and my mom had the Ravioli alla Parmigiana soup (chicken broth, ravioli, parmesan), and we split the Pollo alla Griglia sandwich (ciabatta, chicken, mushrooms, peppers). The soups were both good, with large portions and served hot and fresh. While the sandwich was absolutely delicious, I found it to be a little too greasy for my taste (the bun had olive oil brushed on the outside and inside to make it crisp), but the waitress said she could certainly alter the dish next time. Menu items, especially pasta dishes, were on the pricey side, but worth it once in a while for an authentic italian meal. We would definitely like to return for dinner! read more
