I had to order pizza foe my 2 am "tapeworm ". We also met Kristina, the master pizza chef! Wow. Incredible dough baked to perfection! Seriously. Chewy crust. But it is perfect. This restaurant is attached to the hotel on the other side of Carmen's banquet centre. It was hard to find if you have never been here. I suggest they get a big sign outside somewhere. It is not a big restaurant but the decor is very nice. There was 5 of us there and 4 of us ordered the osso bucco which is braised veal shank on a bed of risotto. The risotto was very soft, maybe a little overcooked but I still enjoyed it. The veal was fell off the bone nicely and was very tender and the marrow was yummy. The portion was generous and I was full after but of course I had to get the tiramisu! The tiramisu was not as light and fluffy as I expected but the flavour was well balanced. The amount of espresso and mescarpone was perfect. The service was not great. The server offered parmesan and pepper on my dish and neglected to offer it to anyone else in my party, disappeared and was nowhere to be found. Portions are HUMONGOUS and the service is so friendly and helpful. Got the chicken parma and the kids got the spaghetti. Everyone loved their meal and the service. I stayed one more night in the hotel and had to try again because the food is great, and it seems unfair to the chefs that are working so hard in the heat of the kitchen. I decided that going in and ordering would be the easiest, so I stopped in and a great 6' 3' waiter helped me quickly and suggested the seafood pasta....can't recall the name...but certainly more "Italian" than that.......lol. "No problem sir, we will have it ready for pick up for you in 10 min." - and they were super busy again. 15 min. later I stopped down and it was ready and up I went back to my room to relax with fresh pasta smothered with homemade tomato sauce, shrimp, clams, and scallops. Great job. so I guess the story here is.......hit or miss on the front of house. maybe I'm being critical but I truly believe when the food is great and they are working that hard, it's not fair to have anything let the chefs down. read more

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Hamilton Authentic Italian cuisine with an upscale setting. Baci is the single best pasta restaurant in the city of Hamilton, and my absolute favourite anywhere. The fettuccini Alfredo is cooked in a house sauce, that is a perfect combination of creaminess and strength. The portion size is huge; a large bowl is for the famished. One of the biggest things that always draws me to Baci is the service. Every time I've been, service is ALWAYS top notch. The wait staff are friendly, attentive and courteous. In the hospitality industry, service is huge. You can have the best food in the world, and horrible service, and nobody will come back. This is a combination of fantastic service, with fantastic food, which makes the restaurant pretty.... Fantastic. Special mention to the famous "Mama Yolanda Lasagna", which is available at Baci too. I'm not a fan of lasagna, but this I do enjoy occasionally. There's a reason it's famous.. I also enjoy the bread that is brought out with oil and vinegar. Fresh, stone baked bread balls brought from the oven to the table (I eat way too many). Overall, the restaurant is FANTASTIC. Missing from the reviews that I read was that the restaurant is inside a hotel. That isn't a negative, but the signage could be better to help you to find it. Food was very strong. I had the Carbonara and my son had the Alfredo. Both sauces were very light, compared to some places where they can be very thick, almost chalky. Service was also very good, although the place was empty on a Holiday weekend Saturday at lunchtime. So, not much to go on there. I would definitely go back. read more

Been here a few times - always for the breakfast. I have to admit - the service is quite good, the food is very simple and straight. Nice light Italian atmosphere. Coffee is much better than one would find at most places. I have tried the vegetarian omelette and it is well done, always enjoy the potatoes which accompany it. The only reason I give this a four out of five is that parking can be a challenge when an event at Carmen`s is on. I was told that there was addition parking at another lot but the signage for that was not to be found by me. So we parked on the street. No big deal. Once you are in the restaurant the service is friendly and courteous. Nice decor. The wood oven gives a warming atmosphere to the modern decor. The food was very tasty. I do not usually eat pizza so I was pleasantly surprised by the hot sausage and rapini pizza drizzled mildly with honey. The hot and sweet combination was delicious. While passing through Hamilton, relatives suggested we stay at the attached hotel and meet for dinner at Baci. I think this could be Hamilton's hidden gem. Both the service and the food were excellent. Truly enjoyed my Osso Buco. Ignazio, the bartender (and our waiter) is a great host. When we're back in Hamilton, we'll be eating at Baci. read more

We went for dinner Saturday night. We have been there several times over the last couple of years but this is the first time since Covid. The service and food was really good - We had Luanne, who we have had before. A little slow getting drinks initially but it was busy and she was apologetic so definitely understanding. We ordered a couple of apps - antipasto platter and calamari - really good - then ordered 6 dinners (4 pasta's and 2 pizza's). The one pasta had a hair in it and they replaced it quickly and felt bad (they did take it off the bill) The male server brought us all of our mains and we asked for bread - you know, Italian restaurant, bread...that is expected. He said the Health inspector came in and said they could no longer serve bread because of COVID??? Huh?? I understand that they probably shouldn't be putting a basket on each table but there is no reason they couldn't serve each of us a bun/bread on a side plate (that is what other restaurants we have gone to since COVID is doing it). I think it looks cheap and is a ridiculous response. Weird, they allowed us to order a 4 person antipasto platter!! So makes no sense! I know the prices have gone up and accepts that because they have to recoup some lost revenue...But seriously..NO BREAD AT AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT - C'MON CARMENS !! read more

Just arrived home from the 2 o'clock seating for the Mother's Day brunch. It was a complete disaster. There was hardly any selection of food, what there was was stone cold and much of it not eatable. There were not untensils for most of the food selections and people were taking food with their hands. The only meat selection was roast beef and there was not much of that. It is an Italian eatery and the only Italian dish was the stone cold lasagna. The only bright side was the stone oven pizza which was amazing when it first came out. There were 6 in our party and the bill for the 3 of us in our family was over $200 of pizza? Never again. They should be ashamed and when we spoke with the manager on 2 occasions he simply brushed off our concerns and us completely. Bob. read more

Excellent prices for the food, I absolutely love their pizza and Oreo cheesecake! The staff is exceptionally friendly and will take care of you accordingly. They are very customer oriented and will make up for any complaint or bad experiences you may have with the food. They have some of the best chefs in the country. One has actually competed on chopped Canada, all of their chefs can definitely plate any dish beautifully no matter what your restrictions are in regards to diet!! This was a disappointing meal. The mini ciabatta buns they bring where stale. The carpaccio consisted of two strips of meat and a lot of arugula. I felt like I paid $15 for an arugula salad and the meat didn't seem like filet mignon as advertised. The arancini was good. My girlfriends special, pasta al fornio was also good and she enjoyed that. I ordered vitello which was supposed to be stuffed and then finished in the wood fired stove. They cut out a cavity in the veal chop and put in boxed stuffing. The pesto gnocchi which it came with where over cooked and very starchy. I didn't complain but when the server came and asked if I wanted my food boxes I said no it wasn't to my taste. They took 15% off my MEAL which was $26. They brought us a free gelato but once again this wasn't gelato but an imposter. The final attempt to satisfy us came with a coupon for a free pizza if I buy a bottle of wine! I left the coupon on the table. The service was so so, it seems like baci and carmens, the catering side of the business switch servers. I got a catered meal in a restaurant. The wait staff is very friendly and the food was ok. My biggest problem is the fruit flies that are all over the bar and wine rack. I had dinner at the bar and saw one or two flies. then I looked up and they were all over the ceiling and the wall with the wine rack. We have dined at Baci Ristorante several times now and only one meal was average. Not bad just average. It involved Bruschetta on pita bread ( at an Italian restaurant? must have been a phase they were going through). All of the other meals were excellent. Favorites of mine would be the Rabbit and Lamb Shank. Several of the pasta dishes are also quite nice. Portions were ample and the quality of the food exceeds the price. Servers are attentive without being pesky. I always recommend Baci's to friends. read more

We made reservations and arrived promptly. However, we did have a last minute guest joining our group of 6 which the restaurant was quick to accommodate. Fantastic. So far, so good. Now came the service. Terrible. We were at the restaurant for 2 hours total. In our group were some relatives that traveled by car and plane from South Carolina. They had been up since very early in the morning and were beat. Now, I realize that our server knew nothing of this and why should he? No matter. Even if our group were all local, the service should not have taken this long. The room was busy when we arrived but shortly thereafter, started to empty out. We watched as people that came in after us were getting their meals before ours. My wife and I have eaten here before in both large and small groups and we have never experienced the poor service like we did tonight. Everyone (well almost everyone) agreed that when the food came it was very good. But we just waited sooooo long for the food to come. I could not see why this was so. Will we be back? Hmmm...I'm not too sure. This experience left a very bad taste in our mouths. A shame. read more
