"Always Excellent, Year after Year!" I have eaten at Shakespeare's once a year for a business Christmas lunch for the last several years. And year after year, the food service and ambiance are all excellent. Chef Franco who has been at the helm for 42 years, knows a thing or two about steaks. For anyone who thinks the prices are too high, you must be still longing for the Ponderosa restaurants to come back. A great 12 ounce NY will cost $28-$40 in most good steak restaurants and a filet can be as high as $40-$45. What's most important however is that you are happy you spent that kind of money when you're eating your steak. And at Shakespeare, you will feel that it was money well spent. The steaks are always cooked exactly as you order them and very flavorful. They also has a nice selection of seafood and the waiter brings out a sample tray of the various kinds of fish they have. Although I have never had the seafood, it always looks amazing. The service is also excellent. The waiters are passionate about their work and are very attentive and always within a glance away. The ambiance is warm and "pub-like" and unlike most modern restaurants, they still use crisp white table cloths. While there may be other restaurants around, I doubt any of them have been at it for 42 years.

The only regret I have with this place is the fact that my wife and I waited two years before we came back. We were were worried that after two years the first time we were there was so awesome, with all the things that could change we wondered if it would still be good. Well, it was. We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and we were so happy to be at Born And Raised again. The menu doesn't miss a beat. We started out with a couple of appetizers, steak tartare, and burrata done in a seasonal style with butternut squash. I thought it an odd combination but it was so amazingly good. Then our mains, I had the rigatoni with meatballs, and as a special feature item my wife had tagliatelle with braised short rib. I am always critical of Italian food given that my grandmother, mother, stepmother, wife, and mother-in-law are masters at it, but let me tell you their rigatoni with meatballs is the real deal. The sauce is amazing, pasta cooked perfectly, and meatballs were so delicious with every bite. The server was even cool about getting me some extra bread to clean up that sauce with which was an extra treat. I was able to beg for a couple of fork fulls from my wife for the tagliatelle with braised short rib, and it was so delicious. Oh yeah, and one other thing, in both cases the portions were fantastic. None of this two forkfuls thing for presentation, it tastes good, you're there to eat and eat well, and they deliver. They vibe in the place is very cool noise levels are fair, and they were playing some cool old school music when we went. All of the staff were friendly, and attentive always checking in. Can I recommend that for dessert you order their pecan pie. It's so amazingly delicious, as is the scoop of vanilla ice cream they dolloped on there. Yeah, I may have had to have put in some extra time at the gym the next day, but that kind of eating gave me high I rarely get in restaurants, and I wish the same for all of you that take this recommendation to heart. Well done to the staff of Born And Raised, and I promise it will NOT be another two years before we are back again.

However, service was friendly and our food tasted great (and visually approved by a Portuguese friend)! Without having a comparison point, it's hard for me to say whether this was "authentic" or not, but we enjoyed our food. Pricing was a little high for the paella, but it's not often that I get to try Portuguese food, so I was fine with it.

Salada Portuguesa - Comes in small or large size. Pretty nice salad with mixed greens, cucumber & tomato slices, red onion, and drizzled with olive oil vinaigrette. You can opt to add goat cheese. Mixed Seafood in Pimento-based Sauce & Garlic Bread ("special" appetizer of the day) - Large portion for an appetizer... comes in a large bowl with 2 different types of mussels, clams, scallops, tiger shrimps, and 4 large toasted garlic bread. You can ask the sauce to be non-spicy. Pao (Baked Bread) Stuffed with Cod - Best dish in the restaurant. It's quite large and best to be shared. The Pao is freshly baked, crispy on the outside and soft, tender, and very aromatic in the inside (cod mixed with garlic and other spices). It's so good that it can be a filling meal on its own when paired with salad. Bacalhau Da Casa - Cod loin is quite salty, but comes in a nice big chunk with bones. The grilled vegetables are over-cooked and very mushy. The roasted potatoes are ok. Grilled Pickerel - Portion size of all the fish and seafood dishes is quite big. This one comes in 2 large & long pieces of grilled pickerel, topped with a delicious tomato-based sauce. The seasoned rice with peas is very yummy! It also comes with grilled vegetables (zucchini, red pepper, eggplant). Arroz De Marisco - The large size comes with a good amount of shellfish and rice. It's more saucy and has more liquid / broth compared to the more mainstream Spanish paella. It's best to let the liquid / broth evaporate first (it keeps warm really well), to give time for the rice to soak in the sauce. This dish is quite flavourful and I like the mix and amount of shellfish (king crab legs, lobster, mussels, clams, black tiger shrimps, bay scallops, etc.). Dessert: Portuguese Tart topped with cinnamon & ice cream - The Portuguese tart comes out warm, with crunchy crust and soft topping. It's one of the best Portuguese tarts I've had. The cinnamon sprinkles just take it to the next level.

Started off with a glass of Flora Prosecco: a semi sweet cocktail with peach schapps, watermelon, lemon, st germain, & Prosecco. For mains, we shared the ube French toast & braised short rib benny. This was my first time trying ube, and I really enjoyed it! It's similar to taro but less starchy, and it has a slight savouriness to it that complemented the syrup and whipped cream on the French toast so well. The braised short rib was incredibly tender, and that cheddar biscuit - WOW. Literally was wiping my plate clean of the egg yolk & hollandaise sauce with them. Service was friendly & attentive even though there was only one server. What really made this experience special was the ambiance - warm lighting, and modern bar decor pieces juxtaposing the intricate crown moulding on the ceiling & chandelier.

What a great night... and a Unforgettable Dining Experience at Victoria's Steakhouse…read more From the second we walked into Victoria's Steakhouse, we knew we were in for something special. The food was outstanding, but honestly, the service and overall experience stole the show. Right away, we were welcomed with a handwritten note from the staff, which was such a thoughtful touch. It set the tone for the whole night and made us feel like more than just another table. Leah, Taylor, Nicole, and Brenden on the bar all made sure we were taken care of, and they worked together like a real team. Our main server for the night, Leah, was incredible. She checked in at just the right times, kept the drinks coming, and made sure we never felt rushed. That's something I really appreciated--the timing was perfect. We had time to sit, talk, and enjoy every course without feeling like we were being pushed out the door. That alone makes this place stand out. The Food - Top Notch wow!! We ordered a mix of appetizers, and right away, we knew we were in for a great night. The Steak Tartare was packed with flavour, really fresh, and had just the right texture. The Beet & Charred Citrus Salad was a great surprise--the burrata made it creamy, and the mix of ingredients worked perfectly together. Then came the Maryland Style Crab Cakes, and these were easily some of the best we've had. Crispy on the outside, full of real crab on the inside, with no filler, and the fennel and grilled citrus remoulade gave them a light, fresh kick. Just unreal. The Wagyu D'or Bone Marrow was something else. Super rich, buttery, and loaded with deep beefy flavour. The short rib was so tender it fell apart, and the mix of confit onions, taleggio cheese, and truffle just made it even better. Definitely a must-try if you want something packed with flavour. Then we had the Wagyu, and this was hands down one of the most incredible steaks we've ever had. We ordered 4 ounces of Japanese A5 Wagyu, and it was everything you'd expect--unbelievably tender, with insane marbling that melted like butter in your mouth. The flavour was so deep and rich, you don't even need sauce or seasoning--it just speaks for itself. Every bite had that perfect balance of fat and beefiness, giving it a texture that you really can't compare to anything else. If you're someone who loves steak, this is an experience you need to try at least once. For sides, we went with the Risotto Milanese, which was perfectly creamy with a nice saffron taste--not too overpowering, just right. The Confit Carrots with brown butter and maple were also really good, with the smoked almond crumble adding a great crunch. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't leave without dessert. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was next-level. Warm, soft, and covered in a crazy good caramel sauce. If you're a dessert person, this is one you don't want to skip. The Cheesecake was smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet--just really well done. A great way to wrap things up. A Cool Surprise at the End After we finished eating, they invited us to see the kitchen, which was something I've never had happen in Hamilton before. It was spotless, and you could just see how much passion the kitchen staff has for what they do. It was a really cool way to end the night and just added to the overall experience. This was easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in Hamilton. The food was next-level good, but what really made the night was the service. The staff at Victoria's Steakhouse didn't just serve us--they made us feel welcome. If you're looking for a top-tier meal with amazing service, this is the place. Hands down one of the best nights out we've had in years!!
