    Fancy interior decor

Wow! An amazing fine dining experience. This place is quite upscale. Everything is premium and quality and the price reflects that. Not a casual or cheap eatery at all. We had a reservation and were seated by the fire place. During the short walk to our table by the maitre-d fellah, we were shown the stocked bar and the glass walled wine room. Quite fancy. It was a quiet Monday evening and the only other patrons appeared to be two small groups of well off pensioners. The menus had a nice variety of choices but not so many that we were overwhelmed. There was also a separate steak menu that showed some premium cuts of meat such as Japanese Wagyu, Bison, and Tomahawk steak. They also have quite the selection of Wines and Booze. The special of the day was a Cajun swordfish. I was tempted to get it but I went with the 10oz Bison steak instead. The Mrs ordered Filet Mignon and we ordered the Escargot to start. We requested a red wine to go well with her steak and they let her sample a wine selection before they poured her a glass. She said it was really good. The Escargot arrived quickly and was extremely delicious. It was mixed with Ontario field mushrooms, and some sort of garlic sauce in a Filo pastry shell. Quite delicious. We also got a basket of fresh baked bread with butter. Also really scrumptious. Our mains arrived and didn't disappoint. Both of our steaks were heavenly and cooked to perfection. My Bison steak was so tender and juicy my mouth is watering now just from writing this review. After dinner we were given the dessert menu. The waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything and when we told him about the special day he sped off and returned with a slice of cheesecake on the house. Shortly afterwards the maitre d guy came over and offered us some sparkling wine on the house too. We were thankful but went with some coffees instead. Both the Cheesecake and the coffees were very good. We left with full bellies and big smiles. The staff were warm and friendly as we left and hoped we would return again....and I think we will. :) I just have to save some money :P 10/10 would noms again.

It was a wonderful atmosphere with soft instrumental music and the ability to hear the conversation of people at your table. To start, there was toasted bread with feta cheese and dill pickles. The starter salad was a huge supper entree size plate. The choice wax garden or Cesar. You could get the French Onion soup instead. Had the main Filet Peppercorn sauce. Asked for medium rare and it was amazing but it had a little much gravy for my liking. The baked potato side was a nice side (not too big) which came with butter and sour cream versus having french fries. Veggies were a few string beans, a slice of a big carrot and a piece of red sweet pepper. The plating of such fine expensive entrees was not very sophisticated. Thought it would be plated much nicer than it did. The server was very friendly and helpful. Chefs were accommodating to special requests and the food was excellent. A nice, special occasions/ celebration restaurant. It is better than a chain restaurant.

Having been back here close to a dozen times over the last decade, I can firmly say this place is the perfect combination of gastro-ingenuity and traditional staples done right. The vibe is "industrial chic," which is essentially code for "I'm feeling something fancy, but still want to be able to visit in my Kirkland shorts." The food has a heavy focus on local ingredients, with flavors that are incredibly tight and well-balanced. The steak frites are so tender I'm pretty sure they were cut with a polite suggestion rather than a knife. The scallops are meaty and perfectly cooked. And of course the burger is absolutely mouthwatering and make it the tempting default option during each visit. The appetizers are all fantastic, Kat and the Korean cauliflower takes the cake! For desert, their house cheesecake is phenomenal, and their in house amber ale is full and flavourful. Our server was on the ball; the water was never empty, and the check ins were always at the right time. Verdict: 10/10. If you want western food with a fun twist and high quality ingredients, this is one spot you must check out!

The service was great, our server gave us a free latte because their coffee machine took forever to work. I got a hazelnut old fashion and it tasted amazing. Fine Dining... casually!…read more When a restaurant delivers the best meals, with top shelf service in an intimate setting, you call that Michelin Star or at least recommended. When you do it effortlessly, you call that Buvette, a new standard in Casual Fine Dining. I had the most wonderful evening at Buvette in Burlington. Yes ... Burlington. Far away but worth the drive. Step in and friendly salutations are offered, along with overheard lively conversations of happy patrons that have been looking forward to a night out. It's been a long few years, and Buvette has spent their time setting up and after only opening 8 months ago, they are shaking up the dining scene. The home reimagined and constructed into Buvette is gorgeous. The passthrough fireplace, with Buvette proudly emblazoned on it, plays the center piece. The sunken sunroom dining area, the intimate bar, stairs to the second floor dining area all pass by warmth of the fire. And of course, opposite to the fireplace is the glass encased small collection of fine wines. Though Buvette is a Winebar, let's not forget their handcrafted cocktails. The owner was cheeky and named them after businesses around the historic Village Square of Downtown Burlington. From carpaccio to cauliflower bites, burrata to pastas, steaks to lobster, the names may be standard, but the food here is elevated to a whole new level. My fav? Obvisouly The Buvette Signature Share Platter! A mouthwatering board featuring steak, lobster, shrimps, lamb, and all the fixings. Whether you are here for vibes and drinks, spend some quality time with family, or a special someone, you really came to the right place. My night was amazing, however, take a gander at the menu before heading out. The place is casual but don't forget, it is Fine Dining. Bring your card made of metal... or someone you know that is!!! Downtown Burlington continues to impress me as a place for upscale living, and I think Buvette has given me another reason to perhaps make a move? Hmmm... CHEERS!!!

They even asked the sous chef to make sure the presentation was excellent; he didn't disappoint. Their menu changes seasonally. I ordered the following: 1. Coke ($). 2. Tempura Shrimp ($27). 3. Crispy Duck Leg Confit & Breast ($46). 4. Saskatoon Berry Cheesecake ($14). The Tempura Shrimp were tiger shrimp and were so plump, each about 1 inch diameter at the widest end! They were de-shelled and tempura battered. There were orange slices (orange), avocado slices (green), and chili slices (red), making the dish colourful. The Crispy Duck came with a leg and sliced breast portions. Accompanying them were tamarillo, sunchoke puree, bordelaise, dried kale chips, berry gastrique, and chopped candied pecans. All the ingredients worked well together, with mixtures of savoury and sweet tastes. The Cheesecake was amazing. The cheesecake itself was an upside-down half sphere. It was soft; I prefer that over the typical firm cake. There were miniature dried berries on top, along with a ruby chocolate sauce, and a sliced of dried red beet. Surrounding it was a soft marshmallow meringue which was lightly torched. The colour theme was red and white with a touch of dark blue. Daimon, the sous chef, plated everything expertly for me. There is plenty of indoor seating, of which one side has a view of the lake. There is lively music playing in the background. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms. There is free street parking on weekends on a street running north of the restaurant. There is also a paid parking lot next to the restaurant. I wanted to take my wife to a nice restaurant for her birthday and after some looking I decided to…read moretake her to Lord Nelson in Burlington. It's located in a small unassuming strip mall. When we entered we weren't greeted and the young coat check/hostess seemed a bit timid and confused. Eventually an older lady greeted us and I told her we had a reservation, which in the notes online I had requested "a quiet table for 2". The lady explained that they were having an "event" today and we could have a table in a private room that is quieter but the table in the main room is much nicer. Not wanting to make a fuss I told her the regular table would be fine. It wasn't too long afterwards I regretted this decision as the main room was very loud, and after another group was seated next to us it got even rowdier. It felt more like a pub during a game night rather than a fine dining restaurant. (This was on a Thursday evening) The hostess did check our coats which was nice. Anyways, I read in the reviews that the Caesar salad is made table side and is really good so we started with that. My wife ordered the Lord Nelson special and I got the Chicken Supreme. Shortly after we ordered we were brought a small platter with pickles, olives, Pate and a bowl of garlic bread. I have been to restaurants before where they bring you complimentary bread but this was 2 tiny pieces of garlic bread. I tried it with the pate but it was better on its own as the pate didn't have much of a taste to it. Eventually the waiter set up the salad table and began to make it infront of us. He appeared to be making the dressing and everything from scratch but I can't be sure as he didn't really explain what he was doing. He just started mixing and mashing and I couldn't tell what some of the ingredients were. It would have been great if he explained what he was doing or even asked if we cared. Especially considering this salad costs almost $50. About 1/3 of the way through he stopped to help another table light something. He took the lighter they were using to try and start up some sort of fondue or something. Then he came back and continued making our salad without washing his hands. Yeah, he's using utensils to make the salad but he's squeezing the lemon with his bare hands and...well it's not hygienic, ya know? Anyways the salad and the experience of having a nice Caesar made traditionally from scratch infront of you is great and it tasted good but not $50 good. It was a bit heavy on the dressing. Our mains came shortly after we finished the salad. My wifes Lord Nelson special featured Beef Tenderloin Tournedos which were cooked to perfection. Very delicious. My Chicken Supreme was also very tasty. Both came with the exact same sides though my cubed potatoes were slightly undercooked. We were too full to finish our meals so we got the leftovers put away for us. They were placed in cheap flimsy containers more suited to Chinese food restaurants, and we didn't get a bag or anything to put them in. Not very fancy at all. We skipped dessert and got the bill. In my opinion it was quite expensive for what we got. I have been to expensive, fine dining restaurants and steakhouses before and this place just isn't worth the cost. As we were leaving we had to wait awkwardly at the front because we needed our coats and no one was there to get them for us. Eventually the young hostess came over and handed our coats back to us in a big bundle. The poor thing seemed very spaced out and out of her element. Anyways, the wife was pleased so Mission Accomplished but I won't be back, especially at that price, and I don't recommend anyone else go unless they have money to burn. TL;DR, Expensive steaks with meh service.

The service is only out done by the food. If this was in Toronto you would never be able to get in.read more

The food was outstanding, but honestly, the service and overall experience stole the show. Right away, we were welcomed with a handwritten note from the staff, which was such a thoughtful touch. It set the tone for the whole night and made us feel like more than just another table. Leah, Taylor, Nicole, and Brenden on the bar all made sure we were taken care of, and they worked together like a real team. Our main server for the night, Leah, was incredible. She checked in at just the right times, kept the drinks coming, and made sure we never felt rushed. That's something I really appreciated--the timing was perfect. We had time to sit, talk, and enjoy every course without feeling like we were being pushed out the door. That alone makes this place stand out. The Food - Top Notch wow!! We ordered a mix of appetizers, and right away, we knew we were in for a great night. The Steak Tartare was packed with flavour, really fresh, and had just the right texture. The Beet & Charred Citrus Salad was a great surprise--the burrata made it creamy, and the mix of ingredients worked perfectly together. Then came the Maryland Style Crab Cakes, and these were easily some of the best we've had. Crispy on the outside, full of real crab on the inside, with no filler, and the fennel and grilled citrus remoulade gave them a light, fresh kick. Just unreal. The Wagyu D'or Bone Marrow was something else. Super rich, buttery, and loaded with deep beefy flavour. The short rib was so tender it fell apart, and the mix of confit onions, taleggio cheese, and truffle just made it even better. Definitely a must-try if you want something packed with flavour. Then we had the Wagyu, and this was hands down one of the most incredible steaks we've ever had. We ordered 4 ounces of Japanese A5 Wagyu, and it was everything you'd expect--unbelievably tender, with insane marbling that melted like butter in your mouth. The flavour was so deep and rich, you don't even need sauce or seasoning--it just speaks for itself. Every bite had that perfect balance of fat and beefiness, giving it a texture that you really can't compare to anything else. If you're someone who loves steak, this is an experience you need to try at least once. For sides, we went with the Risotto Milanese, which was perfectly creamy with a nice saffron taste--not too overpowering, just right. The Confit Carrots with brown butter and maple were also really good, with the smoked almond crumble adding a great crunch. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't leave without dessert. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was next-level. Warm, soft, and covered in a crazy good caramel sauce. If you're a dessert person, this is one you don't want to skip. The Cheesecake was smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet--just really well done. A great way to wrap things up. A Cool Surprise at the End After we finished eating, they invited us to see the kitchen, which was something I've never had happen in Hamilton before. It was spotless, and you could just see how much passion the kitchen staff has for what they do. It was a really cool way to end the night and just added to the overall experience. This was easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in Hamilton. The food was next-level good, but what really made the night was the service. The staff at Victoria's Steakhouse didn't just serve us--they made us feel welcome. If you're looking for a top-tier meal with amazing service, this is the place. Hands down one of the best nights out we've had in years!!
