On Monday around 6:25 PM, the service was unacceptable. The woman working the register repeatedly argued with me about my order instead of listening. I asked for pita crisps and Caesar tahini dressing. She corrected me in a condescending way, then still did not include the pita crisps, the extra chicken I paid for, or the extra dressing in my bag. When I went back to ask for the items I had paid for, she told me the pita crisps weren't in the bag because she "didn't charge me for them"--even though I clearly asked for them. I then had to ask her to please charge me so I could just get my order and leave. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily argumentative and dismissive. At the same time, another employee on the line was yelling at customers, rushing aggressively, and giving extremely small scoops of chicken, then saying she was charging extra. The overall attitude from both employees made the experience uncomfortable and frustrating. This isn't how this location normally operates, which is why it was so disappointing. I was a little bummed to learn that their falafel has gluten, but I still got a wonderful bowl full of vegetarian and gluten free goodies. The lines are LONG! It's best to go online and get an idea of what you'd like to help things move along. Their menus are also small and it's hard to see the options, so definitely have it open on your phone. A 30 person line took us about 12 min to get to the front. They have tons of veggies and toppings! I went on a Sunday night and they were out of a lot of things, but still had lots to pick from. One major difference I noticed about Cava is that they offer more dips, veggie, and meat selections, making the possibilities endless compared to their competitors. If there is an improvement that can be made about this restaurant, it would be keeping the working station and tables clean and sanitary. Veggies were spread all over the working station, and the cleanliness of the dining tables was an issue. If you've never had Cava before, I'd describe it as similar to Chipotle but for Mediterranean food. They offer a variety of pre made bowls and build your own bowls. I opted for a build your own bowl. They offer a ton of options here, which is appreciated and I've never gone wrong with anything I've tried. With that being said, I'd say the food here can get pricey and it's not worth the quality and quantity of food you're getting. For close to $20 for my bowl, I wouldn't say that it was worth it. I've been to locations in Irvine and Pasadena and I'd say they skimp a bit more on portions at this location. Service here is friendly, however, it does get loud so when I was ordering, I had a hard time hearing the worker and vice versa. Because of this, my order came out partially wrong. I heard that lines can be super long here, but the line was pretty short and moved fast. I do think they could move the stickers that have the food options to before those options so you can look them over before you order. My bowl was $14, delicious and filling. I truly love the wide variety of flavorful, fresh options that CAVA offers. I got a grain bowl with grilled chicken, tzatziki, hummus, roasted broccoli, roasted corn, pickled onions, tomatoes, pickles, cucumbers, cabbage slaw, romaine, feta, pita crisps, garlic dressing, and harissa vinaigrette. Like I said, there are so many options to add onto your bowl and they are so so good. My partner also got the braised lamb as his meat, which I thought was so tender and flavorful. We split the pita chips, which I think are a must get here. They are crispy and soft without feeling oily, which I feel is rare for fried bread! I definitely recommend checking this place out for lunch. We did the online order and were quoted for a 12:30 pickup, but didn't actually get our food until about 12:50. They were super busy in store with the line snaking around inside, so I would just keep in mind the possibility of a longer wait during lunch. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at cava, This was my first time coming here, and unfortunately the customer service was extremely poor. My niece comes here often and let me know that customers are usually able to ask for samples, but when I asked, the staff was rude and made me feel uncomfortable. When I asked for a fork, instead of simply helping, the employee just stared at me and responded in a very rude and impatient way. What really upset me was when it was time to pay the employee basically threw my bowl over to the cashier. At that point, I honestly did not even want the food anymore because of how disrespectful the interaction felt. I still ended up purchasing food for my kids because they were hungry, but after this experience, I will not be coming back. I understand that it was busy. but that is not an excuse to be disrespectful to customers, especially first-time customers. Let's start off by saying that CAVA is delicious but... this place is dirty. Period. First impressions are everything and at this location I was not impressed. Service was mid with the staff looking like they hated their life. We opted to eat inside and I did not see one person wipe down tables or sweep the lobby the 40 minutes we were there. The lobby was trashed with crumbs on EVERY TABLE and on the floor. It's not like that it was super busy. The line eventually stopped and one of the employees even had time to lean back on counter as if her store wasn't trashed. We also did not receive our complementary pita that comes with the bowls . Long Beach Cava, you need some work! Ever since the grand opening, they have had struggles managing the flow of customers and demand for food items. The line is always out the door, which isn't a big deal, but it's super slow, and there is always a hold in line for another customer. I also noticed they run out of ingredients. It's been mostly the same employees since they opened, and they seem exhausted and don't look like they want to interact with customers. Cava is also asking you to leave a 5-star review for free pita bread, which is a big no-no. Hopefully, they can turn it around when the hype dies down and start being consistent like the good ol Culver City location. I will still return because this is the only location near me. read more

The restaurant itself is very open, a bit busy, and somewhat clean. The restaurant is still fairly new in the area so it's expected that there's a lot of people trying it out. I got the Harissa Avocado bowl, and it looks amazing. The bowls are pretty pricey, but I understand why. The Harissa Avocado bowl was a bit spicy, but it was okay. It's nothing memorable, maybe I would have enjoyed a different bowl better. They are a bit stingy on portions so don't expect your bowl to be close to full. It's a nice place, and the food is okay. I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon- no line, lots of young adults running the restaurant, likely college kids, lots of good energy, very prompt & informative with all of my questions- restaurant is very tidy & organized! I ordered a bowl with lentils & romaine, chicken, sweet potato (absolutely to die for) feta dip, hummus, cucumbers, tzatziki, corn, pickled onions & tahini Cesar dressing- I love that you can customize your meal! I also do not recall this slice of pita being absolutely heaven sent! I easily could've had 3 more! I went to the new Cava's free community launch event. It was really good. The best way to describe it is like a Mediterranean Chipotle. I built my own bowl around saffron rice, spicy chicken, and spicy lamb meatballs. I added goodies plus some tahini and garlic sauce. All in all it was really tasty.
