Fast casual place. Mediterranean bowls. Ordering is a bit confusing. They have build your own or choose from menu items. Many options to select. Several are additional $ but the menu board is small. A typical bowl is $15+. For the price I was a little underwhelmed.

Greens and grain bowl. Looked better before I started eating it.

The service is still great and the tables are generally clean. I enjoy eating the food there especially the grain/greens bowls. However several times I've been there and they don't have a topping like Fiery Broccoli when I was there for lunch today. And don't put a sign out front that you have white sweet potatoes when you don't. Also, the pita bread has gone down in quality. It is no longer a nice thick and fluffy bread like it used to be here or that you can get anywhere else. Instead it is now a very thin flatbread that is almost to crisp.

This location has gone downhill. My bowl was less food than it was supposed to be and the lamb meatballs were burned. The associate at the counter threw one pita away as he put two in a bag for my husband's and my order. Made no sense.

I love this place! This particular location is larger than the ones I frequent. They were very busy so there was a bit of a wait and they were in the midst of replenishing the selections but all is well. My food was fresh and delicious! Service was great! We got in and got out with no issues! Will return again!

Popped in to Cava for a late lunch and really enjoyed building my own bowl. Lots of good looking choices for toppings and proteins. I chose the grilled chicken and brown rice to start. The chicken was flavorful and not spicy. I added olives, tomatoes, cucumber and hummus and feta. The feta had a kick to it! I tried the the ceasar and loved it. We sat outside as it was beautiful out and there was shade. I'll be back to try a pita sandwich.

    Garlicky Chicken Shawarma Bowl

I normally love CAVA and I hope that my experience at this location is a one off. This was my first time at this location. I dropped by for a grain bowl with chicken Shawarma on a Sunday evening; while there were other people eating in the restaurant, I was the only person in line, but felt really rushed. I understand that efficiency is key, but feel like the people putting food in the bowl were throwing it in as fast as possible, without giving me a chance to process the options momentarily. The refreshment station was out of ice/the ice machine wasn't functioning. When I dug into my meal at home, I was struck by how stale the pita and chicken Shawarma were. A few hours after dinner I ended up getting food poisoning which I can only attribute to that meal because I hadn't had much other food that day. Overall, I was disappointed in my experience at this location, but given that this may have been a one time incident with service and making me sick, I don't want to completely write them off.

Braised lamb bowl (they ran out of spicy lamb meatballs).

When something goes wrong during a restaurant visit, I understand. But when multiple things go wrong, it leaves a bad impression. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and ordered two spicy lamb meatball bowls (new menu item). Halfway through making our bowls they tell us the meatballs will take 10 minutes. We say we can wait. Then they tell us they are out of meatballs (should have checked before building our bows). They offer us braised lamb instead, not our first choice. I also order a drink, my wife orders a drink, they ring us up and it's only one drink. We say we ordered two and the server acts like it's our fault when me wife clearly said she'd have a fountain drink as well. Then they ran out of forks set out, only spoons and knives. Then the men's room is closed for repair. I like CAVA in general but this was not a good experience.

    Blueberry lavender drink
    Erika R.

I placed an order to go for the build your own grain bowl and a order of cinnamon sugar pita chips with a blueberry lavender drink. When I arrived to pick up my order it was ready. I had to bag it myself and prepare my own drink from the drink machine. The drink has great blueberry flavor and distinct lavender taste. The drink itself is a bit tart and not sweet. The app for CAVA allows you to build your own grain bowl or salad bowl or grain and salad bowl combo bowl. I chose to just do a grain bowl so I picked the saffron white rice for the base grain, (you can do one or half of two different grains). You can pick one protein or do a half-and-half of two proteins; I did half Chicken Shawarma and half falafel. Then you pick three sauces; I did hummus, tzatziki and crazy feta ( an herb feta). For the toppings, I choose kalamata olives, tomato and cucumbers, pita chips, shredded romaine, and crumbled feta. For dressings you pick two; I picked lemon herb tahini and garlic dressing. Both dressings were good but if you like whipped garlic spread you will love the garlic dressing because it is the exact same thing but diluted with some water to liquefy it. The falafel was essentially mashed chickpeas, rolled into a ball, so the texture was mushy and it looks baked rather than fried no crispy outside. The pita wedge that I received on the side looks more like an oat pita it was soft but chewy the cinnamon sugar pita pieces were fried, but yet soft and a little thick so they were chewy not crisp and there wasn't much sugar to them, but they are served with honey that when you dip it in and eat it together, it taste reminiscent of Basbousa. The melding of all the bowl flavors made for a hearty and deliciously filling meal. I recommend you try them for a healthy dinner or lunch.

I had been really wanting to come to cava. I was visiting NC for the weekend and Friday-Sunday I had Cava each and every day. Cava was the most tasty build your own bowl type restaurant I have ever had. The service was fast and kind. The vibes were chill. I loved the braised lamb (which is halal)! I got the lamb every single day it was sooo tasty. I cannot wait until I am able to visit cava again. I came to this location twice during the weekend and each time I enjoyed the experience thoroughly!

Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

It is decorated with items from Egypt. Paintings of pharaohs and pyramids. A few people came in to grab their to go orders. She explained that since the pandemic, they do more take out than dine in. We tried the hummus and pita, which was delicious. She mentioned their falafel was one of their best items, so I had to try it. It came with four pieces. They were piping hot and so good. I dipped them in the hummus. I also ordered the chicken kabab (marinated chicken with peppers, onions, and tomatoes over their homemade rice. I asked for no tomatoes and the beef shawarma plate with a Greek salad and tahini sauce. The food was good. I loved the Greek salad with big chunks of tomatoes. The chicken kabab (which she did explain did not come in a skewer) was a bit dry. I dipped it in the hummus. It lacked a bit of presentation. Something that took me by surprise was that we were given our food on paper plates, with paper cups and plastic forks, even though we were eating inside the restaurant. Not sure if it's the same for all lunch and/or dinner. The owner is very nice and I truly appreciated her letting us eat there even though it was close to closing hour. I took the rest of the hummus and pita to go so they could close at 2:30pm. Overall, great experience and good food.

The place was clean, which was nice, but it was surprisingly loud for how not-busy it was. We ordered the steak and cheese pita, the beef burger, and a salad. The salad was fresh but super watery, which made it a bit disappointing. The steak and cheese pita didn't really have much flavor and kind of fell apart as we ate it. It also had a runny sauce that wasn't tzatziki, and we weren't quite sure what it was supposed to be. The burger was okay, but the patty was that perfectly round, pressed kind of meat that felt a little too mass-produced. Honestly, the burger would've been better without the meat. The sweet tea had an odd aftertaste we couldn't quite figure out. We ended up eating most of the food (except the salad, which we boxed up), but overall it just wasn't what we were hoping for. We eat at a lot of Greek restaurants--some run by Greek friends--so this didn't really feel authentic to us. Nice people, clean spot, but probably not a place we'd come back to.

It absolutely was not there. This kind of dismissive and unprofessional attitude is completely unacceptable. As far as the food. A Greek salad with ONE olive, one single slice of cucumber and a single slice of tomato is not a Greek salad. It's honestly laughable. The tzatziki , hummus, bulgar pilaf and rice were decent. But the meat? Very tough. Didn't seem fresh. The stuffed grape leaves. Definitely not made in house. The gyro meat I cannot speak of because it was missing. Maybe they were doing me a favor. Excellent selection of Arab / Middle Eastern / Mediterranean / Asian goods. They have a great variety of both the standard staples, such as chick peas, bread, seasonings, yogurts, cheeses, frozen goods, and other raw or prepared ingredients, but also have more nuanced items you might not have seen in a long time had you grown up elsewhere and moved to the US. I don't have to go and order things online anymore. Additionally they have a butcher that has fresh meats that are also halal if you're Muslim. I haven't ever had their meats, and am not Muslim, but I know where to go if I need lamb or goat on special occasions. They don't really have produce beyond some shelf stable items, but that excluded, it's pretty much an oasis. Finally, the store is kept clean, well stocked, and organized. I've never been in there with items I need missing. They recently did a facelift on the front of the store and it looks awesome, very modern and inviting. The owners and their sons are super friendly, extremely kind, even offering to special order things I ask about, and are always in a helpful / cheerful mood!
