Love Cava! I was so excited when I saw they were opening locations in Chapel Hill and Raleigh. I love the build your own bowl concept and Greek food is so delicious, it just makes sense! I usually get a chicken salad bowl with various hummus flavors and any fresh topping I'm in the mood for at the moment. The bowls cost $8-9 and are totally worth it. If I'm not ravenous I can get two lunches out of it because they really are generous with portions. The staff at this location was friendly and welcoming, too. I believe this restaurant used to be Zoe's Kitchen which was the same set up with a very similar menu but I thought this was better. I ordered a pita wrap with chicken with all the trimmings and it was delicious. The bread was soft and I liked being able to get chicken breast instead of thigh meat. The toppings were fresh and the tzaziki sauce was above average and didn't have that paste consistency I've been finding lately. I also got the salad with falafel and the falafel was seasoned well with the right amount of texture. All of the dressings here are good so you can't go wrong and they give you a choice of two. This place is my new go to for a quick healthy dinner after the gym. It is super filling and flavorful, no matter what you put in it. I typically do greens and grains with chicken. Their pita bread slice is a night carb treat. I have also enjoyed their juices! I recommend using their app if you go at busy times. For a base, I chose a pita (one of a half dozen options), which I was then able to have customized while I watched (think of CAVA as a Mediterranean version of Chipotle). To the management at Cava in Chapel Hill: You do realize that customers notice when we get half a bowl every time we order through a delivery service, right? If I go in myself, I get a normal portion. Your prices are already pretty hefty, however, you're able to sell at those prices given the quality of your food, and the fact that you keep a clean restaurant, and your food options are healthier than most. I'm more than happy to pay for that. And I pay $2.50 extra for roasted veggies and usually another $2.50 for extra protein. Again, no problem. I get a full bowl when I order it in person, and it serves as dinner for two days for me which further justifies the price in my mind. HOWEVER, when I pay $18 for that bowl (before delivery fees or tax), and only get HALF of a bowl, and none of the extra sauce I paid for- that is just not okay. THREE times I have ordered from you and received half a bowl. It is abundantly clear that you try to scrimp on your delivery orders. I no longer live in Chaoel Hill, and can't control which Cava my delivery service goes to, so unfortunately, I've started ordering from another restaurant that doesn't assume it's customers aren't smart. read more

This is the best fast food/pick your toppings as you go (subway style) place in the area I have been. The flavors are exceptional and the food is also on the healthier side. So I sent this note, privately, to CAVA but to my dismay, no response. So NOW I'm publicly posting my review. "I'm wondering if you've changed servers since May 21st. I'm asking because on May 21st, I got an amazing grain bowl. Everything was awesome, and wonderful. (It actually had several things missing but it was so good, I didn't notice at the time.) Since then I've ordered three more grain bowls. One had no feta and no corn. (Yes, I'd ordered both.) One had an abundance of corn and no lettuce. Tonight's ORDER had (and we changed the order, mind you, to DOUBLE LETTUCE) three pieces of lettuce, and one tiny pea-sized piece of feta. I mean, I'd forgotten that I had ordered feta on it until I found that one small chunk. I am sending you this note privately (well, not anymore!) so that you can correct whatever the hell is going on in your restaurant. Because you can see from my first review, I thoroughly enjoyed your food the first time and even more when I discovered I could have a grain bowl. But the last three grain bowls were not CAVA standards. Oh, and I forgot, vegetarian I am, though I'm no meat virgin, and the second grain bowl had lamb balls instead of falafel like I ordered. I ate it because I'm not a crybaby but can you imagine if you'd actually served that to a real crybaby. (A lawsuit that would drag on for years!) C'mon, man, get it together." And then nothing. This has been my Saturday night go-to for take-out during the hell of the pandemic. There are no bland ingredients here and I'm addicted to the protein bowls. I like to get a base of half basmati rice and half lentils and top it with the braised lamb. Their lamb is better than some I've had in white-tablecloth restaurants for $30+. They have a huge selection of toppings, but I'm partial to the feta, the amazing pickled red onions, and the tomato and cucumber salad. I've been to other CAVA locations before so I knew what to expect when this one opened up in Chapel Hill. CAVA is basically a "Chipotle-style" Mediterranean fast casual chain. You pick out the type of bowl you want - various rice/salad bases, proteins, toppings, and sauces as you go down the line. There are small printed menus which come in handy. There aren't any labels on the food so it's confusing to order as you walk down the line unless you read off your paper menu or continually ask your server what each thing is. The nice thing here is that you can pick out two proteins for no extra charge - I went with the lamb meatball and the braised lamb. Since I went with two choices, I expected to get smaller portions of both, but I only got three very tiny pitiful looking meatballs. They were possibly the smallest meatballs I've ever seen. They tasted like a combination of pure lemon juice and burnt meat. The braised lamb was much more flavorful. The portions were much smaller at this location than the other ones I've been to (which were in Manhattan too...). The rice wasn't really hot either. The pita bread was a nice touch, but small and dried out, which made me suspect it was day old. Overall, CAVA can be a good spot if you want something healthy-ish and fast. There aren't many choices that are healthy, affordable, and still tasty (read : not only salad) in town so CAVA helps fill that hole. Some of the food could be fresher though and the portions were oddly smaller than locations in New York. read more

Decided to treat myself to a solo lunch this week and WOW was that the best decision I've made recently. I got a grain bowl packed with rice, juicy chicken, falafel, cucumber, tomato, feta, couscous, THREE dipping sauces and drizzled with an amazing tahini. The bowl also comes with a small, warm, and delicious pita. I'm sure I'm forgetting something because they have so many options. They also have homemade juices that rock. The employees were really friendly and helpful when describing the offerings, and the vibe was laid-back. While in line I heard another customer tell her friend that she would want to come back soon after trying it, and she was RIGHT. I'm like 99% sure her friend will probably be back within the week. I love this new addition to Village Plaza! CAVA has quick, delicious, and healthy customizable entrees. You can choose how you want to build your salad, pita, or grain bowl. There are currently no popular combinations listed so it might be a little overwhelming at first because there are a lot of yummy options available. I always go for half super greens and half rice as my base as it's filling, and one doesn't overpower the other. You can choose up to 3 dips and spreads and I always go for all three because it's just like having a sampler to eat with your complimentary pita :) You get one protein included and as many toppings as you'd like. The only dressing I've tried is yogurt dill (love it) but I would probably pick something else if you already picked tzatziki as one of your dips. The app is also super useful if you want to order ahead of time and it has a rewards system set up within it as well. read more

I usually enjoy my experience here but this was the worst experience anywhere I have ever had. There were flies buzzing around the food counter and the employees were a mess. I have sympathy for customer service workers, I work in a restaurant. However, this was disgusting. There were chunks of food everywhere, one employee rolled his eyes at me when he had to go in back to refill a topping I wanted, and they just had too much going on to handle. I had to put my own top on my food after waiting for a cashier for multiple minutes who then handed us our bowls which were covered in sauce on the outside. The whole thing was gross, loud, and poorly managed. read more

Choose from multiple bases such as greens or grains, sauces, proteins (including falafel for vegans and vegetarians), veggies and dressings. This is in the Whole Foods shopping center. It's not crazy big but seems to be just the right size and was very clean. EVERY employee and manager I met was "Chic-Fil-A" friendly! Outstanding. The FOOOOOD is amazing! I got my base as spinach and basmati rice with various toppings. The Crazy Feta sauce was incredible (assuming you like feta lol) and the hirassa sauce was flavorful and spicy ! The spicy lamb meatballs were full of flavor and a nice portion. I got the Lemon Herb Tahini dressing which provided extra flavor and a nice hint of cilantro. Great meal! Just full of Mediterranean flavor. You can be as healthy or reckless as you like. Great for vegans as well! The drink selection is equally impressive. I tasted everything and had a hard time choosing. The juices are made fresh daily and it's evident. All the ingredients including the food was fresh. They also shop local which is always admirable. I came during the grand opening so my meal was free but I believe it would have been around $15 because of the upcharge for the lamb and drink. Totally worth it! I wanted to BUY a bowl to take home! I am in LOVE with CAVA! I've never been so excited to find out a particular restaurant was coming to the Triangle. Being that this is in Chapel Hill, it was a bit of a drive, coming from Raleigh, but boy was it worth it. I loved everything about it. The spacious dining area, the efficient ordering line and knowledgeable employees, the amazing beverage options, and of course the delicious food. Everything was good. I literally have no complaints. We tried the lamb meatballs and the falafel and both were great. The saffron rice was bomb, as were all the toppings and sauces and dips. The bowl was gigantic but it was SO good that I finished it all! The pita on the side was like a cherry on top. I know I will be coming here again, probably every weekend. Sigh. I highly recommend: saffron rice, crazy feta dip, harissa dip, red pepper hummus dip, green harissa topping, and the quinoa! YUMMMMY. read more

Placed a pick up order to be ready at 6:45 and received email confirmation. Got to the restaurant at 6:45 and waited.... Asked for a status of my order at 6:59 and that is when they printed out my order to start making it. Didn't receive the order until almost 7:15. ! Many people came in, ordered and left BEFORE they even printed out our order. When we got home and opened the bag we were very upset at the quantity of food that we received in our bowls. About half of the size we normally get, and certainly less than the amount of food we saw walking out the door while we waited. Complained online and received a credit for about half of the cost of our meals. Consistency is key for success at chain restaurants. Clearly training is needed at this location to ensure happy customers. read more

Trying to find parking is sometimes a mission but if you go to the side of the building away from the Whole Foods, you're guaranteed to find something close to the facility. Let's talk about the food.They have an awesome assortment of colorful foods that you can build your own bowls.All of the food is so good and it's always fresh. The facility is always speaking span cleaningAnd the staff are always smiling and eager to assist.I love their soda fountain as they have some of the best drinks found from a chain.Next time you're in the area, do yourself a favor and do not pass Cava without stopping by. read more

Cava is one of our go-to places in Chapel Hill. The food is always so fresh and flavorful (also very vegetarian friendly options). I love creative salads and the ones here are super customizable. The falafel, while not traditional, are amazing!! You can still see the chickpeas which I love. They also have grain/rice/lentil bowls or pitas for more of a sandwich type meal. The sauces are all delicious - I particularly enjoy the yogurt dill and the lemon herb tahini. Their online app ordering is super easy and curbside pick-up during COVID has been really nice. It's in the busy Whole Foods parking lot, but we have always been able to get a spot out front. Prices are on par with the area and definitely worth it for the quality and taste of the ingredients. I haven't dealt with the staff much lately since COVID but beforehand, the service was great. read more
