Even though this is a chain restaurant, it was a well run one. The service was fast. The staff were friendly. Plus they cut their pickles daily which were very good. I had the A Wreck sandwich and my wife had the pizza melt. They were both very good! We will definitely go back when there. The only issue with this location is parking is a little tough on a busy day. The restaurant is in a mall area and the lot is shared with all the stores.

We ordered the Thai Chicken Salad, Drunken Noodles, and the Wonton Noodle Soup. The waitress provided us with water (they also have different types of teas and soft drinks) and was pretty consistent about refilling our cups. The Thai Chicken Salad tasted a bit like Thai / Lao style Laab (not sure with the difference is between Thai and Lao style) but with much less herbs and seasoning. The Drunken Noodles were pretty standard but it didn't have much spice to it. The Wonton Noodle Soup had a nice light broth but the Wontons didn't have much meat in them. A few of the tables were missing condiments (sriracha, hoisin sauce, chili sauce) but since it was pretty empty we were able to grab them from other tables. Overall not that bad for Thai food. Was pretty disappointed they didn't have some staples like Papaya Salad or Sticky Rice but food was good overall. I will say the napkins they provide are nice!

This was my first time but my friend's hundredth (her words!) There was plenty of parking. We were greeted upon entry and informed that we could choose where we sat and just to scan the table QR code when we were ready to order. We chose a high top and a server brought us water. The vibrant colors and decor gave off excellent vibes. I ordered the Karaage Bowl (on greens instead of rice AND all the sauces on the side) and a side order of seaweed salad. A server brought them to our table. It was not necessary for us to get up once we were seated. Everything was SO GOOD. Like, "I'm mad at myself for not coming here before" good. All of the sauces were amazing too. I ordered them on the side since I wasn't sure how I would like them all, but I think I'll leave them on next time. The "greens" were a mix of lettuce and cabbage. The side of seaweed salad for $2.50 seemed a little small when they brought it out but it was packed in there and was plenty. The server came around a couple of times to check on us and top off our water. We bussed our own trash. There was only one unisex bathroom that I saw. There seemed like a lot of takeout orders going out (it was a little separate from the dining area which was nice). There was also a lovely outdoor area that would be nice if it wasn't 100 degrees. I will definitely be back to try more menu items!

I think there's a sports ball thing going on somewhere, too. One person ahead of me and I gave the nice lady my order. The tacos came out pretty quickly, followed by the beer, cool and frothy from the tap. As I've mentioned before, there is a nice adult contemporary soundtrack that is neither background or overpowering. It just hits, and you can chat over it if you want. Or sing along. After a nice bike ride, I stopped in and ordered their three shrimp tacos. I've had them before, but they seemed even more amazing than past visits. Were the shrimp larger? Were there more of them? (4 per taco seems about right!) It was such a lot of food (added to the hazy IPA) that I had to take the last one to go. It may last the night. Or it may be breakfast. At the time of writing this review, Yelp's average rating for this Chopt location is 3.5 stars (92 reviews) so it's pretty spot-on, in my opinion. If you're in the mood for salad, this place suffices. While Chopt isn't bad, I wouldn't put it among my favorite salad bars/greens and grains bowls restaurants. For example, in Chapel Hill, I like nearby CAVA better for both taste and portion size: https://www.yelp.com/biz/cava-chapel-hill-3. Currently, in the Triangle, there are three Chopt locations: this one in Chapel Hill and two in Raleigh. This Chapel Hill location opened in June 2017. The chain has been around since 2001 and has locations up and down the East Coast. This was our first visit to any location. I'm pretty sure the business is named Chopt because they literally chop your salad as part of the ordering process. The setup is fast-casual, like a Chipotle, with fresh, customizable ingredients selected and placed into your bowl upfront, then chopping with dressing applied and bread added, and then payment. Drinks, eating utensils, napkins, condiments, etc. are self-serve. During our visit, Chopt had several salads with preset ingredient combinations priced around $8-12 each. There were seasonal offerings and warm bowls too. My wife got one of the Chopt Classic salads and I got a Warm Bowl. Everything on the menu was low-calorie. I've got to hand it to Chopt for keeping it healthy, something very rare for restaurants. Salads ranged from as little as 245 calories (Sesame Ginger Crunch, $9.89) to 715 calories (Harvest, $10.99). My wife had the Santa Fe (450 calories, $8.99) with grilled chicken added (+$2.99). The Santa Fe came with avocado, grape tomatoes, corn, Pepper Jack cheese, crispy shallots, and romaine lettuce with Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Vinaigrette dressing. I had the Mediterranean warm bowl (610 calories, $10.49). The Mediterranean came with warm grains or cauliflower rice (I chose warm grains) with Lemon Tahini Dressing, roasted chicken, cucumber and tomato salad, local feta cheese, Mama Lil's spicy peppers, cabbage and cilantro blend, and crispy chickpeas with a House Vinaigrette. At the end of the chopping and mixing process, we were both asked if we wanted bread. We both said yes. In general, I thought the salads were A-OK. All of the ingredients were fresh and overall, the salads were flavorful and satisfying enough. I will say these salads didn't leave me feeling as full as other salad/bowl restaurants, but those other restaurants typically serve more (calories) at more cost. So, if you're trying to diet or eat healthy, I do think Chopt is a fine option. We dined in for dinner and while we didn't feel hungry leaving the restaurant, we could have gone out for dessert somewhere. We ended up having mango sticky rice later that evening. I thought the salads were crisp and well-balanced. The half-slices of bread were tasty. I'm not sure what kind of bread Chopt uses. It's marketed as "Artisan Bread." Speaking of which, there was a sign inside the dining room that listed the restaurant's "Local Partners & Favorite Artisans." For example, the cucumbers, cabbage, and grape tomatoes were all local to North Carolina, the onions came from Georgia, and meat like beef and bacon came from South Carolina. My wife's Santa Fe bowl was served in a clear plastic container and my Mediterranean warm bowl was served in a compostable paper container, presumably because it was warm. All orders are designed for takeout, which is what I observed most customers do during our stay. The dining room was modern, spacious, and clean. They have an uncovered patio with umbrella-covered tables too. Chopt is located in the Eastgate Crossing shopping center on the northeast side of Chapel Hill. Same shopping center as Trader Joe's, two doors down from Chipotle, on 15-501 (the Fordham Blvd stretch of 15-501). Service was good from everyone. Chloe P checked us out. When we visited, Chopt was doing a two-week free delivery deal. Something to consider.
