Went to CAVA in Woodland Hills on a date and I absolutely LOVED it. I have always been a mixer of textures and various crunchies when it came to my food so anytime that I can combine things into a chopped salad, I am down. This is the best one I have even eaten at and a staple in my routine. For almost two years I have been going there with my now almost 4 year old daughter and they staff has just been so great. They are always friendly and most importantly interact with my daughter rather then ignoring her like many food places can do. All I can say is YUM! We went there for lunch yesterday and it was my first time going there. It was pretty empty in the restaurant, which I thought was nice. I ordered the salad bowl with hummus, & spicy lamb meatballs. It was so good that I returned today for lunch. I should have known it would be packed on a Friday. It is really too bad I'm giving this review after today's experience. I used to be a HUGE fan eating there with the family a few times a week. I walked in today and saw a worker measuring the temperature of the meatballs. I asked "Are the meatballs OK" He just shrugged and walked away. Of course, we ended up ordering the meatballs and they were raw and gamey tasting. We opened them all up and they were undercooked/red/raw in spots. The guy basically served us intentionally raw food. With all the health risks with fast food, it's was so disappointing to have food like this knowingly served to us this way. He could have easily thrown the meatballs our or told us to avoid them. Instead indifference and sold to us to eat and potentially get sick off of. Hopefully we don't get ill but I guess we'll find out in few hours. We LOVED this place but now SOOO disappointing. And yes I did file a complaint with the Fairfax County Department of Health. Updated: Totally forgot. They stored one of their meat thermometers where they store all their pens for people to use to sign their credit card receipts. Stopped in twice within the last month and wasn't impressed. The food was as expected, but the customer service was terrible. Employees both times seemed to be fighting between themselves, but passed on their sour attitudes to me. One of the short girls with poofy hair and a nose piercing was very rude to me. Portioning is sub-par compared to the other CAVAs I've been too. Last time I was in this area I decided to go to Chipotle, and I highly recommend the burke Chipotle as a better alternative if you start getting attitudes from the employees. read more

This CAVA opened about a month ago and I have already gone about 5 times! I absolutely love the food and love the healthy options. The parking situation is a little rough but usually is in this shopping center. The Spicy Lamb is simply out of this world. I believe that it would literally make any meal choice you make 5x better... and believe me, they have a lot of great choices! My reasoning for the three star rating has nothing to do with food but rather for service. We were there on a busy Sunday and yes I know that it was busy. However the people working seemed upset that customers were coming in. I made a simple request for an extra cup of dressing and the cashier seemed pretty upset. I like this trend of restaurants in the Chipotle model that have more creative healthier options. Both cava locations I've been to have been clean and pleasant and friendly. I always get the power greens or whatever they're called. If anything there are too many options, you can add too much and it turns into kind of an overwhelming mess. So you kind of have to learn what ingredients really work well together. I like the unique choices of drinks (no Big Soda choices). Definitely on our regular lunch rotation. read more

I have gone to Cava several times now and each time the food is pretty good! I usually get a bowl with the saffron rice and one of the lamb options. I love all the options for toppings and sauces. I highly recommend the crazy feta if you like feta! Every sauce I have tried was pretty tasty. The decor inside is nice. The place is always clean and I have never seen it packed. One thing I don't like about this place is how frenzied the staff seem. You know that feeling of pressure you get when it's time to order at a chipotle, well for some reason I feel that magnified here. They just seem to always been in a hurry, throwing sauces and toppings on as if their very lives depended on it. And like I said before, it's not like this place is popping and there is a line out the door. There isn't any need to act as crazy as the crazy feta! I like Cava. I've ordered lots of different items from them. The gyro, the salad bowl, the rice bowl. It's all pretty good, and I think the comparison to Chipotle is apt. One thing where I think Cava doesn't quite live up to its hype is their meat. They charge extra for their spicy lamb meatballs, which isn't a big deal to me, except that they taste frozen. I am so happy a CAVA opened in Burke to offer an alternative to fast food and chipotle. The interior is on the smaller side but it's exposed wood makes the whole space feel very warm and cozy. The menu and ordering operation is set up exactly like chipotle (what you want, grain, meat, vegetables, toppings, etc) but with way more steps because CAVA unlike chipotle has way more flavor combinations than chipotle does (can you tell I get tired of chipotle?) I only order grain bowls so I cannot attest to other options for meals. But I have had the spicy lamb meatballs, chicken, and falafel and all three protein options were very tasty, not dry, and given in large amounts (there is simply nothing worse than a bowl that doesn't have a lot of protein in it). I love the crazy feta, roasted eggplant, and hummus spreads and better yet you can have three so you can choose all three! The topping are all very tasty, I recommend getting pita chips on top for extra texture. I never end up finishing my bowl so I get lunch for tomorrow too! The drink fountain is something to check out, I don't drink soda but they have organic hipster small batch sodas that probably aren't as nearly as bad for you as coke products are and also have a bunch of homemade teas and lemonades with very chic ingredients like hibiscus, ginger, and Turmeric (I tried all of these like a four year old in a candy store and they were all very tasty) so CAVA, you're a winner in my book. My one complaint that's very....very....VERY SMALL is none of the toppings are labeled. This wouldn't be a problem at say, subway where lettuce is lettuce but half these things are very name specific so standing there going "what's that?" "Okay that's sounds good" "what's that?" Not only holds up the line but probably exhausts the line cook. Just put a sign out! All the other stations have a sign! It's not that hard!!! read more

I love Cava so much! It's a Mediterranean spot that serves salads, rice bowls, and pita wraps with a variety of protein options and a ton of toppings. The line moves fairly quickly and it's easy to see all the options on the counter. However, they aren't labelled very clearly. Because some of the options are unfamiliar to many customers, it can be difficult when ordering (because of allergy concerns, unknown taste, and lack of identification by name so customers constantly have to point and ask "what is that?," etc.). Aside from this small hiccup, Cava is delicious and a wonderful experience. I got a salad and rice bowl with falafel and most of the toppings. Everything is super fresh looking AND tasting. I would recommend the lemon tahini dressing because it's not too heavy but adds the perfect complementing flavor to the dish. Also definitely order a drink and try the basil limeade... This stuff isn't too sweet but is SO refreshing. read more

I have been going here since they opened up a few years ago but something has changed. Yesterday I placed an order online for pick up in a half hour. When I arrived, no bag. I asked and all of the employees looked like I was disturbing them. I was then told I must have put it under a different name or store. When I showed my phone and order, I again got empty looks. Someone finally checked the computer and yes, my order was there, they just never processed it. Not once was I given an apology. I asked for a refund as I was late and had to go. That too was a process and, a day later, it still hasn't showed up on my credit card. This is not an isolated incident. A month or so earlier, I went to pick up the food and had my toddler with me. Not ready and they said they would get it right away. But we waited close to a half hour because instead of processing the order, they continued with other online orders and customers who walked in. Am I not a customer who placed an order a half hour ago?? I ended up having to ask repeatedly the status. I don't know if it's new management, but they are not efficient. Extremely poor store customer service. Do yourself a favor, try some of the other new variations of Cava around town - much better. read more

It's a good lunch option and the bowl/burrito/salad version at Chipotle is augmented with a grains option - lentils at this eatery and tortilla is substituted for pita. They also have a salad+ grains, mini pitas or a mini plus soup combo. Then you add up to 3 dips or spreads and can choose from: hummus, harissa, eggplant and red pepper dip, red pepper hummus, tzastziki, or jalapeño infused crazy feta. Next up is your protein choice: grilled chicken, falafel, spicy lamb meatballs, grilled meatballs, braised beef or lamb, or seasonal vegetables. Finally you can add a variety of fresh or pickled toppings and dressing options. Not bad for solo eaters but would offer up other options for he price for a family of four. 3 stars rating just for quality of food. The food is delicious especially the chicken. It is well seasoned. The service not so much, I would have given this place 5 star if it wasn't for the service. I was the only one in line and the guy serving me (I think he is a manager due to his shirt) was rushing me. When I asked him about different sauces and he pointed at the small menu and said "read the sign" I kid you not he said that. He was rushing me just to end up chitchatting with other employees in Spanish. Not sure if I'll be back, I might give it a try but their service needs an immediate change. I always get the two pitas, one with the lamb meatballs (my favorite!!!) and the other I usually choose either the falafel or shredded lamb. Lamb meatballs are really good and I always recommend it to others. Nice flavor with a little bit of a spice kick to it. I load my pitas with tons of delicious toppings, but be careful with the toppings because all that topping goodness added together can be a bit salty. Try their juices. I really like the turmeric ginger (recommended for those who have had turmeric before, since the flavor can be a little strong). I come here once a week for lunch. read more
