Personally, I love this location and have not had any problems with the food or service. Although, sometimes there can be long lines and waits since it's close to a university and bars. This is also because this location isn't too big, but it is always kept clean. The Halal Guys is my number one go to for quick food. I always get the regular combo platter. For the most part, everything is cooked and seasoned well and you get your food immediately. They are generous with the meat portions which I love. You truly get your money's worth in my opinion. Whenever I'm super hungry or after a night out this is the place I'll go. The manager at this location is also super friendly, and the staff is always professional. Honestly, the food here has never LOOKED super appetizing to me, but once I tried it, I was a fan. I've only ever tried the beef and chicken platter (more like a bowl). I like to add hummus to mine, it gives it some more moisture. Otherwise the bowl can be a little on the dry side. The white sauce is very good and the hot sauce is good too but very spicy (for me), so my advice would be to use it sparingly across the bowl. I've never sat inside this location - always gotten to-go and been happy with the quality. The best part of this meal is the portion size - I am always stuffed after eating halal guys. Love this place, and the kind employees whom work here. What a great group of folks, and such a welcoming environment. I must say Halal Guys hires well, and it shows very much so at this location. I noticed that the price went up though :( it used to be 18 dollars FLAT for two regular platters, but now its 21 dollars for two regular platters. However, the portion of the food is still plenty. The salad was packed with food. They didn't skimp. But the contents were dried out and over salty. Still, I ate it. Unfortunately, the food made me so very sick that night. Unusually sick. Halal Guys in University Mall, Fairfax stands out as one of my few favorites. The basics, of course, is that the place is very clean, a bit small, but ample for seating and small groups. Large windows offer light. They've added basic outdoor seating. I like every staff member I have met, who all greet me when entering. They are friendly, smiles, warm greetings. The food is very good. It's protein, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes, add onions and green pepper, other items optional, with Mediteranean/ maybe Egyptian mild spices. They offer a HOT version by adding their special sauce - I take 7 strips. I appreciate that their portions are ample. They are open to accommodate special requests. They have optional desserts. I get the sense that the restaurant appreciates their customers and they work hard at making me, the customer, feel important and welcome. I continue to be a regular customer. Got it from DoorDash. It was my first time having Halal Guys. This is pretty good stuff. I got the chicken bowl. My one complaint is that I'd enjoy more variety in the toppings. It was also supposed to come with tomatoes and it didn't. I got the large and it didn't seem that big. The chicken, rice and Pita was all pretty good. The lettuce was fresh enough but just iceberg. So I ordered the combo platter which consist of chicken and gyro meat with some veggies, spicy rice (no option for white rice) and some white sauce. $9 ( rounded up) Lets just say the disappointment came from the luke warm food and dry chicken and gyro meat. The only thing hot on my plate was the hot sauce .... lol . The proteins were not flavorful nor was the 'spicy" rice.. so disappointed You were kinda forced to pay the extra $ .50 for the extra side of sauce to make up for all the dry food. I was so excited when I opened my yelp and found out I lived near a halal guys! I had them in New York and the line was super long, probably stretching a block. So I was excited when I walked in to the store and the line wasn't too long. At the store they have a lot of more variety on their menu. In addition to what they normally offer they also offer hummus, fries, and baba ganouj. I got the combo platter, with spicy hummus a lot of white sauce and bbq sauce. The spicy hummus was really spicy, almost as spicy as their hot sauce. So I would recommend avoiding the spicy hummus and go with the regular hummus. As for the platter, it tasted similar to the halal guys cart I had in New York, but it wasn't as good of quality. The meat was a little too salty, but thankfully I got a lot of sauce to mask some of the saltiness. Overall, Halal guys is a pretty good place if you haven't had it before.
