So many great reviews that I had to venture off the interstate to try Catfish Corner on my last time past Ardmore. The lot was packed at noon, so I worried that there would be a wait, but the place is truly "bigger on the inside". It seems odd to be a fish and Mexican food restaurant, but when at Catfish Corner, I have to try the catfish, right? So, I ordered the 3 piece Catfish lunch special, which included 2 hush puppies, slaw, fries, pinto beans and green tomato relish. A lot of food for 9.99. I'll start with the fish. It was light and crispy, and you could taste the egg wash in the breading. I wasn't wowed by it, but it was good. Not crazy about the slaw, but really liked the fries and beans, and the tomato relish was really good! Relish is a bit misleading, think of it as pickled green tomato chunks. Overall, I liked it. I wouldn't mind going back, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. A solid meal, worth a try. read more

Everything was fantastic I love this place! We were driving by and the yelp reviews brought us in and I'm glad it did. I had three piece fried catfish meal with house salad fresh iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and pickled tomatoes (kinda like bread n butter pickles) Homemade Ranch!!! The homemade beans were tender and perfect baked with pork. The the fries are my favorite kind, like long John silvers. Very good hand cut fries, green tomato relish and very good cole slaw. Chips are good but the salsa was a little bland. An unfortunate experience, came to visit Oklahoma from Fort worth, Tx and my family was totally disrespected and done wrong. The food smelled really good but we where sitting for 40 minutes with drinks, chips and Cole slaw and meanwhile they Set 2 and fed 2 other tables before us. And they were almost done eating and we were still waiting. The Server told us your food is coming up next. I went to ask the Mgr about the timeframe and he said it was due to the fact that we ordered fajitas! My wife is a GM for a restaurant in Dallas TX and there is no way she would allow something like that to happen without making sure the guest felt they where not being shaded. There were no blacks in the place at all. I just wish we had known better! We paid for the food anyway and we left and ate at the Hotel. They gave me every indication that we weren't overreacting by passively excusing the obvious. Its too bad that we live in a country that's going to shit in a hand basket regularly and I'm so pissed for my children. Having to feel the social idiocracies of our society. Can't complain about the food. But the experience was one I not willing to accept or ever deal with again! This place was great! I forgot to take pictures. Our server was wonderful, helpful, and patient. We had okra extra crisp. It was cooked perfectly. We each had a fried fish dinner. We had cole slaw, which I finished before the fish even arrived. It wasn't overly dressed or overly creamy or vinegary. I had the green tomato relish, which was sweet and crisp. I wish we hadn't asked for the fish to be extra crisp. It made it chewy, but that was my fault. The fries and pinto beans were okay. We didn't need them. Was in the mood for some southern fried something while in southern OK. Saw 4.5 stars for Catfish Corner so thought I'd give it a try. I was seated right away by the nice gentleman upfront. lol he first thing I noticed was a unique menu. They had the fried staples I wanted like fish, chicken and shrimp but also seemed to specialize in Mexican food like enchiladas and fajitas. Not the combination I was expecting. I wanted to try the lunch special 3 piece fish and asked if I could substitute a chicken strip. I was told no, if I wanted to try that I had to order the combo which was $6. It came with the same side choices but you got 2 pieces of fish and 2 chicken strips. Begrudgingly that's what I ordered with okra and mashed potatoes for my sides. It came out quickly and was warm (although not as hot as I'd have liked. The catfish was excellent, no fishy taste and very good breading. The okra was also delicious. Chicken strips were not hand battered, obviously pre-made frozen. The mashed potatoes seemed instant and the gravy had very little flavor. The waitress provided good service but not overly friendly. Overall, the fish was the real star but for $22 (with tax +tip) for lunch, I was underwhelmed. read more

Huge fan of their catfish, with out a doubt the best in Ardmore. The Mexican food is alright but we have so many good Mexican places in town that we only eat the catfish here. Can't find anything to complain about with the catfish, the beans, slaw, hush puppies and fries are all really good. If you want relish you have to ask for it and we usually have to ask for more onion. The service is usually pretty good but just depends on who you get. The interior is kind of old fashioned dive with car tags hanging all over the walls. If you want good catfish, give it a try. read more

Deceptively Good....We needed a place for dinner after driving up from FTW to Lake Murray State Park with a very hot afternoon of setting up. No one in the group wanted to cook so broke out Yelp and found Catfish Corner with 4+ stars so decided to give it a try. Wow what a wonderful surprise from the outside it looks pretty small...that is where small ends the place goes on forever. Our waitress Deana was above phenomenal, funny, polite, engaging and service well lets just say her tip started at 20% and just kept going up. Food was quick, hot and served without an error. She took all are orders (6 plus 2 kids) and didn't miss a thing. The sweet tea was spot on not overly sweet but not real strong could have drunk a gallon all by myself. The catfish was soooo good, cooked, seasoned & cornmeal were perfect. The fish was not greasy, sometimes after eating fried foods you get that bloated feeling not here. Fish was light and no greasy oil after taste. Unless you have a HUGE appetite I suggest the 4-6 piece catfish platter, not the ALL YOU CAN EAT unless you want that "oh my goodness I think I am going into catfish coma feeling. My wife had the 3 piece catfish with 10 piece shrimp which she split with our daughter. Did I mention the spicy fried pickles appetizer. Plus all the sides, green tomato relish, coleslaw, pickle & onion slices accompany every platter. Didn't even get chance to try dessert too full so hopefully this will inspire someone else to try this place and maybe someone else can practice better self control and leave room for their sweets. read more

If you had a Pappy and he brought in catfish for your Bamma or Nana to fry up, you have tasted something this good before. Go for the fish, def. Also, fried green tomatoes and spicy hush puppies authenticate the plate. The specials are TexMex and half of the house was having those instead. If you're real nice at the front, maybe they'll tell you where they got all of those license plates. Ask about the POW ones. Friendly and kind team, only slightly enthusiastic about getting us right back to the highway so they can have their "locals" hangout back to themselves. read more

woulda never thunk mexican food could coincide with fried fish, but it do! the joint is nothin' fancy, but what they lack in decor, they sure make up in taste and service! i've not had any mexican food from here, but from what i saw it looked good. they have nice combos for fish and shrimp, which were cooked to perfection. unlike the other yelper, i was NOT down for the green tomato relish, but hey, to each his own! both times i've been we have had a very large group and the staff was more than accomodating. i almost woulda thought one of 'em was my aunt ;-) friendly, relaxed atmosphere. i would practically live there if they had one where i lived. =) ardmore is not that big, but i would venture to say it is a city secret. read more

My friend and I went there for our first time to check it out at lunch time today. She had a catfish plate an I had the fried chicken steak dinner. The cole slaw tasted not fresh at all. I asked if I could have a salad instead and they brought it to me. I also had ordered a side of okra an it looked nice and crisp. Then I took a few bites and it was so slimy inside that to make sure I asked my friend to take a bite. She said it didn't taste right either. When our waiter came I told him I didn't want it because it wasn't cooked right. He didn't offer anything to me he just stood there shaking his head. While we sat the across from the kitchen doors one of the busboy stood there adjusting himself before zipping up his cargo shorts where everyone across could see. As we were leaving the building I spoke with the manager who acted like he didn't care. All he could say that he would look into it. As though I was wasting him time and he had to go somewhere. Looks like the kind of place you'd never dream of going to in a million years, but it's actually pretty darn good. The tortilla chips, shrimp, chile rellenos, everything is high quality and the service is great. We were intrigued by the idea of a catfish and Mexican restaurant. The outside looks like a seafood shack, and the inside is bright and decorated with license plates and old signs. The menu is Mexican on one side and seafood on the other, with some crossovers. Our teenagers ordered from the Mexican side, and we ordered fish and shrimp. Servings were huge, and the fish was great. Shrimp were good, but the fish was the star of the show. This was a great end to a fun road trip to Turner Falls, and I'm always happy to hit a local hot spot instead of a boring chain restaurant.
