They always say don't order steak at a seafood restaurant. They were wrong. I had the twin 6 oz filet mignon that was cooked perfectly (I prefer medium well). This was accompanied by fresh roasted garlic which you can crush in ton your mashed potatoes and creamer spinach. Definitely recommend going in with a reservation. FYI: we ordered off of the halal menu. Unlike before, you do not need to call ahead for the halal menu unless you have a very large group. read more

Can (wo)man live by fish alone? I could. Raw, cooked, head left on, head cut off, ocean, lake, river. I appreciate them in all forms. ;) In fact, I prefer it to any other type of meat. A wallop of muscle supporting protein but without that bloated feeling that's left in your gut after consuming red meat. As far as fish, Catch 35 always delivers. Always fresh. Always prepared exceptionally well. I've never been served anything that has even a hint of "fishiness", no bones, no rubbery textures. Just flaky fish with great flavors. Bisque is perfect. Not too thick from high volumes that have simmered too long and overcooked all evening. Not too salty. Just great flavor and nice chunks of crab in a smooth creamy soup. The perfect way to begin my dinner on a cool rainy night. My last trip to Catch 35, I ordered panko encrusted grouper with sweat pea risotto and a simple salad with a bacon vinaigrette. That was a plate of perfection. Fish was seasoned beautifully. It was all that fish should be. Flaky, buttery, tender. Perfect. Let's face it, you can never go wrong with panko encrusted anything! I could have eaten a whole bowl of the creamy risotto. --Why does a diet of starches and heavy cream have to be so so bad for us?? The salad with the bacon vinaigrette was a nice contrast to the risotto. Slightly salty yet cleansing. I would definitely order that again. Steaks are.... meh. You should really only order steaks at steakhouses. They're fine if someone in your party doesn't like fish, but not the best steak you'll eat. I personally found the key lime pie to be lacking. It didn't have much flavor. I like my key lime like I like my friends: tart. A tart filling, offset by a sweetened graham cracker crust. The crust was fine but the key lime was not enough to pucker my cheeks. ;) My only real complaint has been service. An hour into our visit and all we'd been served was my cup of soup and a shrimp cocktail. --neither menu items need any prep at all. It was 80 minutes before we were brought our entrees. That is unacceptable. Especially on an evening when the restaurant was not packed. The food is great and it's never impossible to get a table. Parking is convenient with a garage next door, which is a huge bonus when dining in downtown Naperville. Winner, winner seafood dinner. read more

The star is for the customer service. It was great! The food was lacking. I got the crabcake (1). One for $19. It was just one and was half the flavor and 1/2 the double the price of Bonefish grill. The crabcake was not any better than the premade ones in the seafood dept. The fish and chips were just OK. It was Whiting not cod and it had zero flavor. Thin and flat. Very skimpy and not a pinch of salt. Super bland. I was afraid I had covid until I tasted the tartar sauce which made up for the lack of flavor! The fries were typical, and nothing special. We loved everything we ate here. The great services were definitely the big plus. The lobby is open and very neat. We sat close to the kitchen side with a glass wall in between. So it was kind of interesting to sit there and watch what is going on in the kitchen but don't get any greasy smell. Crab bisque was creamy, nice crab meat, and seasoned just right. The oyster was juicy and fresh. My lobster roll was made of cold lobster chucks with celery in a grilled, crunchy bread. I could really taste the fresh delicious lobster meat. Loved it. Fish taco was lightly grilled with thin sliced Napa which was awesome and unique. Chocolate cake was actually kind of Volcano or souffle type. It came in cylinder shape with warm chocolate inside. If you're looking for a place with a good Happy Hour in downtown Naperville, then check out Catch 35. You can grab their specials at the bar on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. 1/2 off items on the bar food menu. With it being close to Naperville's awesome free parking, that's a win, right? I came with family around 4p, and it looked like we were the first ones there. The waitress was very pleasant, and we put in our orders. Fortunately we came early, because the food took longer than one would expect for bar food. It's almost as if the kitchen had to turn everything on and wait for it to warm up. It's a good thing that they serve a delicious bread (free) while you're waiting. When we finally got our food, it was about average in terms of taste. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with anything we ordered (e.g., fish & chips, lobster sliders, fish tacos, etc.), but nothing really stood out either. I would certainly order the lobster roll and fish tacos again, but I would pass on the fish & chips. So while Catch 35 is conveniently located in downtown Naperville and has a nice space, it's a bit too dark inside for my liking and the wait for food is longer than expected. I had a strawberry moscato margarita it was sweet and pink every girls dream drink : we started with scallops they were set tender and flavorful. We order crab bisque and it was delicious and fresh crab. For an entree lemon chicken was tender enough I didn't need a knife. The breading was light lemon and crispy We ordered dessert to go. It's Sunday night and you're in the suburbs with a growling stomach. Catch 35 would be your go-to place especially if you are in search of good food while on a budget. Twice, I came for their happy hour specials and went home carrying my stomach while doing minimal monetary damage. What have I tried and will repeat? The crab bisque is perfect for the cold weather. It's hearty, creamy, and filled with large bits of crab meat. I would always order the bowl as oppose to the cup. Do the simple math and you will realize the half-price specials make the bowl a perfect deal. Also, be sure to ask for the house bread for dipping! The tuna tartare is comes with an abundance of raw tuna and avocado on top of a crispy tortilla chip. If you want to try more items, be sure to share this one. The beef tenderloin sliders are also perfect for sharing. One plate comes with three sliders stacked with juicy, medium-rare, and sliced beef tenderloin. Some other items that I have also tried are the fish and chips, calamari, and crab cake. Great portions and flavors! I would suggest going with a few hungry hippos to wipe every plate clean. Don't Panic!!! it's the Beets. (I will get to that part at the end of my review) We decided it was time for another visit to Catch 35, as it had been almost a year since our first time there. We were delighted to have Zac as our Server again, as we recall the excellent service we received from him on our first visit. We decided to skip the appetizers, though very tempting. We started with an Iceberg Wedge Salad and the Salt Roasted Beet Salad (highly recommend). Both were fantastic. For the main entrees, we selected the 6 oz. Filet Mignon with roasted red potatoes, creamed spinach and Roasted Garlic cloves. The filet was cooked to perfection with outstanding flavor and the sides were also delicious! The other entre selected was the Yellowfin Tuna Poké Bowl..... what an amazing combination... Edamame, Scallions, Carrots, Avocado, Radish, Seaweed, Soy and Chili Aioli. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I can't wait to go back and have this same meal again as it was absolutely outstanding! Now.... for the "Beet story": Not to gross you out, but this is actually rather funny. So, the next day I was in a bit of a panic and seriously considered going to the ER. I decided to call a Doctor friend and explained to him the circumstances I had faced. I said I think I'm bleeding internally!! He asked if I had eaten any Beets?...I said OMG...THE BEETS! Although I've been here before, this time I didn't make it beyond the reservation! I called to make a reservation for 11 and was told I had to contact the event department via email. I then asked to make 2 reservations one table of 6 and the other for 5. Again I was told to email the events department. After 4 hours I decided to call again but was told the events department would reply in a day or two. When she did, I was told we would be out in private room for 30, limited to order from a banquet menu and require to pay a minimum of $5000. Who would do that? Are you serious... I'm not getting married, this was a simple dinner with friends. But I can't decide which part of that was more insulting for her to ask. So if management is this twisted I'm sure they allow their hosts, chefs and servers get away with poor quality too! No thank you, you will not get my service! read more

The deal sounds better than it actually is, since you only really end up saving a few bucks. Guess the allure of the deal did its job: it lured me in. The crab bisque could have been thicker. I got the 3 oz tenderloin entree (you got two of them). The meat was good, but the accompanying broccoli was a little undercooked, and the potatoes, though tasty, were slopped onto my plate. :o| The seasonal dessert - eggnog bread pudding - was definitely the highlight of the experience. I find myself pretty disappointed with the quality of food, service, and portion size. Catch 35 deserves 5 stars for staying open during our tyrant governor's total lockdown of all restaurants in the entire state! A group of 14 of us came here on 01/07/21 and Catch35 did not disappoint! The venue area where we sat is very open. It seemed like a room that I would be seated in if I were attending a business conference at a hotel. Not actually cozy; rather more of a place where professionals would go to conduct business. My food has consistently been really good and the Ambiance is very nice and relaxed during the day, and of course busier and chaotic in the evening. However, my servers still maintained contact and offered prompt service throughout my visits. I'd recommend Catch 35 at anytime of the day. read more

The most recent experience was a real surprise. This was my first To-go order since we typically would eat as a dine-in. It was a simple order of a cup of soup. I was told the pricing of both a cup and a bowl. I ordered the cup, after I had to clarify a few times and there were numerous times the staff member had to relay the information to another staff member. Right as the soup arrived, I was told they only have bowls of soup, and at a higher price. So, four people were suddenly unaware of that, and only at the time that the soup arrived? And, suddenly the price switched to a higher one? Additionally, the 'bowl' looked like the size of a 'cup'? That all came across as something similar to bait and switch. The manager (??) was willing to loose three customers over it. Amazing. By the way, we had brought a friend to the restaurant a few weeks ago, his first time, and he was unimpressed enough that he has no desire to return to Catch 35 Naperville again. Came here on Tuesday evening, Not my first time , I have been here couple times before in the summer. The food here is always fresh and flavorful. This time around I did the raw half dozen oysters, let me tell you it's tasteful ! Little chili sauce to go on top they had was superb. I had Hong Kong salmon for my main course which came with side broth as a sauce to drizzle over the salmon, mouth watering! The surf and turf scallops weren't like any scallops I have tried in Chicago . Man oh man we're they delicious. The food is a bit pricey but what can you expect for fine dining, it wasn't anything over the top. Our server Brandy was outstanding, and even remembered me from the summer. Keeping this one short. Ate here while visiting Naperville for work. To be honest I was not impressed. There is nothing that stands out it could be any restaurant in America. The menu focuses on seafood and is heavy on the lobster. The appetizers not memorable at all can even tell you what we had. The Caesar Salad that came with entree was ok the crouton was the only thing saving it. I had the Catch 35 Mix Grill which is suppose to be a sample of what they do best lobster, shrimp and fish. To be honest it was ok. The lobster was a nice portion the fish I can't even remember and the shrimp were these tiny things. This place might impress in Chicago but for a guy that lives on he Gulf coast it falls way short. I went here for my husband's birthday dinner. We arrived at 7:10pm, and we were promptly seated. The server and bus boy were super very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was not as good. The plating of the food was very sloppy looking and not very representative of fine dining. We ordered the crab cakes and Szechuan scallops. The Szechuan scallops were okay, but kind of a messy appearance. The crab cakes looked mushy and very unappetizing, but ended up being okay. I also ordered the new seafood chowder, and it was creamy like a clam chowder, but I wasn't a fan of the fish. It was a little fishy for me. For the main, we both ate the filet mignon with lobster tail. The lobster tail was butter poached, large, and sweet. It was very tender. The filet mignon wasn't bad either and had good flavor. My husband's lobster tail did not have any butter flavor despite ordering it butter poached. We ended up exchanging it for another one. The second lobster tail was way better. It was good. We opted not to get the free dessert since nothing seemed to be too appealing. The overall dinner was just average and not worth the prize tag that came with it. Catch 35 i have to apologize! I went to dinner last night, it was Saturday, the last night for the lobster bash. I was dining with my +1 and his uncle that I had never met before. We were seated at a table and we had a really nice server, Brandi. We had a fabulous meal! We started out with half dozen oysters and lobster bisque for an appetizer. To drink we had a pineapple moscow mule, dirty martini and margarita. We were indecisive on what we wanted to eat all the amazing lobster entree choices made it difficult. We went with 2 crab stuffed lobster tails and a lobster casserole. All three of us loved our dishes. We moved on to desert and ordered a creme brulee and a pecan pie and coffee. My +1 and I both enjoyed our meals and so did his uncle (or so I thought). We paid our bill and were on our way out when his uncle out of no where went up to the hostess on our way out and complained about i dont know what i had already walked out the door and my +1 went back to find his uncle complaining. I was so embarrassed I kept walking towards my car. I wanted to make sure you knew that our service wasnt bad, Its just one of those cases where some people cant be pleased, ever. Just moved to Naperville from NY (bazaar, I know) and my parents came in for the weekend to visit. Made reservations at 715pm and we were seated promptly upon arrival. The restaurant was full, which is always a good sign. The waiter was enthusiastic and cheery, however the wait staff was much more focused on refilling our cocktails, as opposed to making sure our food was to our liking. My mothers salmon was undercooked and had to be sent back. It took about 10 minutes to get the attention of a server to let them know about this undercooked salmon. Once everyone had their dish in front of them - there were no left-overs. The food itself was all very good. What really bothered me was a family next to us literally changed their child's diaper at the table (even placing the dirty diaper on the table about 10 feet from our table). When we notified the "Manager", she informed us that this is really "out of her control". This seemed a little backwards, as one would think this would be entirely in her control as manager of this facility. Nonetheless, they removed a round of drinks from our tab due to the inconvenience. The diaper situation really left a sour taste in our mouth and we felt the manager could have handled the situation a bit better. Perhaps if the staff were a bit more attentive to what exactly was going on in the dining room, they could have notified the clueless family that changing diapers at the table in the middle of a dining room is really not appropriate at all. read more
