The crew at Castelli Framing came through for us in a real big way! Custom framing isn't something I'm generally in search of but with my sons recent college graduation, I was suddenly in need of this service. I'd contacted the guys at Castelli weeks prior to my sons diploma arriving to inquire about the job and turn around time. I had complete faith and confidence that we'd move forward with them but I had no exact date when I'd have the diploma in hand. I could have ordered through the slip that came in the mail with his diploma but their turn around time was 4-6 weeks and quite frankly I had no where near that amount of time due to my sons upcoming move. As soon as it arrived and we'd seen it in person I was able to review several options and determined quickly exactly what I wanted. Girl knows what she wants! They made a few suggestions to ensure I knew I had options but I was completely set on a very masculine dark brown textured color scheme. I really wanted something that resembled many of the dozens upon dozens of frame jobs in my grandfathers home office that my son and I had grown up admiring on visits to their home. It meant a lot to me to go this route with such a special first piece that will hang in my sons home office for years to come, that one day my own grandchildren will be able to admire. The turn around time was absolutely remarkable (they must have picked up on my impatient, can't stand waiting for a single thing in life vibe), or perhaps it had a *little* to do with my selections mainly being in stock ;) From the gorgeous suede fabric matting I'd selected to the warm chestnut finish molding and museum quality non reflective glass, the final product is an absolute stunner!!! I really couldn't believe my eyes when unwrapping it, like pick my jaw up off the floor stunning. Yes! We're still very much talking about molding, mats and glass folks. This stuff looks that damn gooooooood! Since I know nothing about framing I really put my full faith and trust in Castelli to use their expertise to match my preferences and make adjustments where they deem appropriate and I couldn't be more grateful for the final product. I love it, and my son loves it! While I'm over the moon proud of my sons Summa Cum Laude distinction on his diploma I'm also very proud of selecting what has got to be hands down the BEST framing business in town. If you know me, you know I trust no one so handing over the one and only copy of my sons diploma to Castelli was something I can say I did with ease, knowing it was in great hands. Never place your orders with the owner FRED at Castelli Framing in Culver City because you will have an AWFUL experience. They have extremely bad customer service, are very rude, and are completely unprofessional. I missed the most important art exhibition I had because of their delays. They do not care about the customer's requests, delivered frames with incorrect sizing, and behaved very rudely. I'm not one to leave negative reviews but my experience with Castelli sadly deserves one. Basically paid hundreds of dollars for maple when - after taking it to another framer for a new pin - he informed me that they used cheap some sort of foam/plastic with a maple-looking vinyl set on top of it. In essence, they charged me for wood and gave me plastic. The even sadder part is that for about 4 weeks I've been trying to get a hold of someone at Castelli that would fix this situation for me and leave me feeling neutral about it. But instead, I've not been called back (after numerous promises) let alone taken care of. Framing can be an art form in it itself. I respect the craft and would understand a mistake or human error. Took a number of prints to be framed here, at an interior designer's recommendation. They were very knowledgeable and did a fine job. Everything came out looking great. They are not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive framers I've used. Only caveats: although I did find frames I really liked, I thought their frame and matting (color/fabric) selection was slightly smaller than what I'd seen elsewhere. After working months on an heirloom cross stitch for my friend's wedding, I needed to find a reputable framer to finish the piece. A friend referred me to Castelli Framing and I was told they were knowledgeable in the proper framing techniques for cross stitch and needlepoint. The finished piece was completed in time for the wedding and looked beautiful! Fast forward two years to present day and my friend's marriage ended. I offered to amend my original piece to omit the offensive ex's name. My plan was to remove the cross stitch from the frame, make the necessary changes, and ship back to Castelli for reframing. Well, that ain't gonna happen... Castelli practically RUINED my cross stitch! They TAPED it! They STAPLED it! They GLUED it!!! I am not exaggerating when I say that I have seen better frame jobs done by Michaels! After several days I was able to remove the tape but not the residue. I plan to remount it myself and get a local framer to help me with the final matting and finishing, which will hopefully hide the damage. Long story short, they corrected a mistake *I* made in mount type, at no charge. The full story: In working with Sara at the shop, I confidently specified that I wanted a "float mount." After it's done and shipped to the gallery where my piece was shown, I realized that what I wanted was specifically a "raised float mount." I blame Google for having the improper term populate in top search results...but I take responsibility. I talk it over with Sara and she says, "We'll get you want you want." and offers to redo it at no additional charge, even after I offered to pay for the difference because it was my mistake in specification. Where the rubber meets the road in service is not when things go right, but when things go wrong. And Castelli certainly went above and beyond in correcting *my* mistake. I have already brought another print to them to be matte and framed, and will bring more to them in the future. read more

Castelli Fine Art Framing is hands down the best resource in Los Angeles for printing, framing, and customer service. Fred Goldstein (the owner) along with Melissa (his daughter) give the most superb attention to their craft and to their clients. It is not a hyperbole to say that Castelli's work is pure perfection. I am a commercial/fine art photographer and needed over 20 photographs printed on aluminum and mounted for an exhibit. The sizes went from 24"x36" to 40"x60". The turnaround time was horrendous, considering the complexity of printing on aluminum. Castelli's had less than two weeks to deliver proofs, print the work, and mount it. I had serious doubts they could deliver. Fred and Melissa proved me wrong. They completed the job on time, immaculately. The compliments I received on Castelli's work were too numerous to count, and I attribute a portion of my sales to their services. Over the years I've worked with many vendors, and I have never come across one who treats every client -- from a high end art gallery to an independent artist -- with equal care and quality. I am an art dealer from a different state. I called Castelli Frame to help me with a frame issue for a client who purchased from me but lived near Castelli. I did not know them but picked them from the Internet because they were not a franchise and I was hoping they would know how to handle an expensive masterwork. The girls at Castelli are knowledgeable, professional, funny, honest and frankly - the best framer company I have ever dealt with and I have dealt with framers from all over the world. Castelli is perhaps the worst framer in Southern California. First, take Fred--a complete blowhard who will either ignore you completely, or talk nonsense for hours on end. Ryan, on the other hand takes no responsibility for anything and apparently just arranges delivery. Framing: Well, given 5 pieces to frame--3 had to be re-done by them twice; one a third time. The end result, one job was unusable (at a mere $680). The frame had splotches of touch up paint all over it (from incompetent framing), screws protruded out the back (so it could not be used against a surface you care about without marring it--for example, modern wood panels). When I asked for a refund of the one piece--simply ignored. This, and Castelli, are a joke. If you actually care about the end result, go somewhere else and drive right by. read more

I had a great experience with this shop. I came to frame my daughter's art work she won an award for and I needed it done for the next day. I did not say that since the lady said it will be done by the next day anyways. It turns out, there was a problem with the frame and they tried to reach me but I was not able to respond , and when I came to pick up the framed artwork , it was not ready. It was past 5 pm already, their closing time. The owner( I assumed), really went arm and leg to get my artwork framed when I explained the situation, and not just that , he did not charge me anything.
