I stopped by Cast Iron while attending a conference at the Omni Hotel and decided to order from the menu. The restaurant has a modern, upscale atmosphere that still feels comfortable, making it a nice spot for a business lunch or a break during a conference. I ordered the Candied Pork Belly and the Birria Tortilla Melt. They weren't quite as good as I expected, but they definitely satisfied my hunger. What I didn't realize at first was that they also offer a $27 lunch buffet. After seeing it, I honestly think I would have gone with the buffet instead--it looked like a much better value with plenty of options. My server was amazing and made the experience enjoyable. The only downside was that the food took a little longer to come out, and I was on a time crunch since I needed to get back to my conference. Overall, I had a good experience. I would come back to try the lunch buffet or explore more of the menu next time, as I think there are probably other dishes I'd enjoy more. read more

We stayed at the Omni with our kiddos and we loved all the restaurants inside the hotel. The convenience was great but we had good service and great food as well! We loved our breakfast here and they had the option to order off the menu or get the buffet. We ordered off the menu and got a variety of items, pancakes, avocado toast, a breakfast sandwich and the lox bagel. Everything was fresh, tasty, and came out quickly. So so good. I almost didn't dine here based on reviews but I didn't experience what others seem to have experienced at all. I chose to order off the menu and not eat the buffet for breakfast and i didn't starve while waiting for it. Lol. I had the delicious açaí bowl and the Texas sunrise. Overpriced and slow service. I ordered the $42 flat iron steak, which was decent tasting but child-sized. It only came with a small amount of "steak fries" ie frozen ore ida fries. My GF ordered a salad w an add on flat iron steak ($28 total). Her steak was around 9-10oz and mine was maybe 5-6oz. So if you're going to eat here, you'll get a bigger steak for less $ as a salad add on which is silly. It also took about 40min for the food to come out. So that means they waited about 30min to start making the food. There was maybe one more table seated so it wasn't because it was crowded. read more

I'm not a salad person so to say I really enjoyed this salad is saying a lot! It was fresh, nicely presented and I loved the avocado and the crispy bread on top. I added shrimp and they were delicious. I deducted one star because I couldn't really taste the Caesar dressing. It needed a bit more flavor. Overall, really enjoyed it! Flank steak could have been delicious if it were warm. They should have been embarrassed by the potato wedges served with it-just stale and cold. Server didn't come back to check on us, which is a cardinal sin. Pre dinner salad came with dinner and wrong dressing. Acoustics are horrific-just loud. Atmosphere-well there was none. This restaurant is located inside of the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. I stopped in near the end of breakfast around 10:45/10:50 and there was no one at reception so I wasn't sure if I should wait or seat myself. Finally, I was able to grab someone's attention and they had me order at the front. There must have been a misunderstanding between the various employees because I was expecting to sit down and order and they'd registered me for a to-go meal so I ordered and paid at the desk assuming I would then be seated. After clarifying that I was there for a sit-down meal, they sat me at an empty table and let the kitchen know I didn't need it to-go. Service was also a bit rocky at the start, and I was made to feel as a bit of an inconvenience when I was trying to be seated and order. Once I sat down there was a server who checked in to ensure the water glass was full, etc. The lighting, tables, and decor was very nice and the space felt a bit cozy and inviting. The booth/banquette-style seats sink in a bit too much, so I would recommend a table with chairs. Much more comfortable and convenient for eating. Unfortunately, the food was a massive disappointment, especially for the price. I ordered the Southwest Breakfast Bowl and I would not recommend this to anyone. The meat was essentially unseasoned ground beef/burger meat, and nothing had any flavor. The presentation was great, but the food was bland at best and I had to force myself to eat it. For $22, I'd expect it to be at least palatable but even the provided ketchup didn't make it a meal I would actively want to eat. I also ordered the Homegrown Lavender Crème Brûlée and while it was delicious, I could not overtly taste the lavender. I would recommend this, but keep your expectations for the lavender flavor a bit low. It's a good classic crème brûlée. Overall, I would recommend the dessert, but I'm not sure I would recommend an actual meal here. I was also unimpressed with the level of service and care. read more

December 2022, we went to Christmas brunch. The Buffett of food and service were amazing. Today, April 9, 2023, we did the Easter brunch Buffett. It was a much smaller scale Buffett from Christmas, but still very nice. You can't beat free mimosas. We were, however, slightly disappointed and underwhelmed with the carved meats, hot vegetables and potatoes all lacking in flavor and seasonings. The Brussels sprouts and broccolini were under cooked and very tough. The charcuterie board, salads, seafood and breads were amazing. They had an omelet station along with breakfast food stations. The dessert table had many delicious sweets to choose from. Bread pudding, carrot cake, muffins, tarts, puddings, etc. They also had a table to decorate cookies and Easter egg hunts for the kids. The Omni produced a well executed and beautifully organized Buffett for all to enjoy. The staff did a wonderful job making sure everyone had a great time. Thanksgiving brunch was a hit. Some in our family do not enjoy turkey. To them oysters, shrimp, sushi and smoked salmon were a big hit. The risotto was very good. When you're in a hurry, there's nothing like a hotel restaurant. Except when it takes forever to get your food or even coffee (I'm still waiting and waiting). I only ordered a poached egg and an English muffin and a latte. The latte came out after my food. Fail. The latte was strange. I ordered a hazelnut latte and the hazelnut syrup cake in a small cup. The food was tasty enough. I went there because their menu showed lots of gluten free options. But I fear the staff has not been adequately educated on the need for strict gluten free ingredients for people with Celiac's. I told the hostess and my server that I have celiac's, and they confirmed the options on the menu were gluten free. However, either the food and some gluten in the ingredients or the dish was prepared in contact with gluten. I ordered the fish tacos, which came with side of sweet potato fries (which I asked explicitly if they were confirmed GF). I was feeling sick before I even left the restaurant. I'm assuming either the vinaigrette on the tacos had gluten or the fries were made in a fryer used for other items. I did not even try the condiments brought with the fries and asked the server to bring me the bottle. Heinz. Not GF. After trying all 3 meals at Cast Iron, I've got mixed feelings... I organized my review by meal, so read what's applicable. Breakfast: Biscuits and gravy - super basic, nothing to write home about, but a solid simple choice. Granola parfait - big enough to feed an army, but beautiful and delicious. Texas waffle - instead of berry compote they literally just tossed a few blueberries on top, and it wasn't a large Texas waffle either, definitely not worth the price tag. Coffee - my mom ordered a "mocha frap" in the hopes of getting some sort of chocolatey iced coffee... the waitress brought back a caramel latte with no explanation, and when asked if she could do an iced coffee just shrugged her shoulders and said "we don't do that here." Service - waitress seemed out out having to take our order and bring us food, since we aren't breakfast buffet people. Overall: not worth the price tag, service was a miss. Lunch: Chicken salad sandwich - call your grandma and ask when she started working here. So good! The marble rye fell apart and made a mess, but I'd eat a bucket of this chicken salad. Also, the absolute best sweet pickles I've ever had. Bonus, the fries are amazing! Fish and chips - husband polished off every bite of his food in about five seconds flat, raving about freshness and also the magical tartar sauce. Cowboy cookies - husband loved them so much he didn't share, but they looked awfully good. Service - outstanding waiter (Felipe I think), very attentive and amiable. Overall - reasonable prices, great service, worth it! Dinner (via room service): Shrimp pasta - obnoxiously small portion of bland pasta and five small/medium shrimp. Chicken quesadilla - great blend of veggies and bland chicken, too much cheese, with a side of food poisoning, yum! Dr. Pepper chocolate cake - one bite each and we were done, so glad we wasted money on two. I'm a chocolate cake connoisseur, and a professional baker. The texture and taste were very off putting, like modeling clay gray wanted to be cake. Service - seemingly nice, the staffer that brought the table up helped roll it into the room, presentation was nice, she said she and one other person out it together. She had me sign the receipt and I added a good tip, despite the fact they tack on 20% in service and delivery charges. My husband, holding a baby, held up some cash not realizing I already added a tip to the room receipt. I said "don't worry, I got it." The staffer then got really snappy and said "cash is preferred because this (points to receipt) gets pooled for 50-60 people, and that (points to cash) just goes to the person who worked on the order." She then has the audacity to hand me a blank copy of the receipt and a pen, in an effort to get the cash tip instead. I thanked her and shut the door, completely speechless at her lack of manners. Overall - food poisoning and all the extra charges, plus the insanely rude staffer not worth it. read more

Thanksgiving Brunch. Some of the food was great, some just okay. It was hard to find things the way the sides were grouped with the various meats. Many items were not properly labeled so it was hard to know what was what. I enjoyed it but $100 per person is a lot to pay for one meal that was just pretty good. I was not aware of the 25% extra charge in addition to $75 per person plus gratuity. I would like to add that the Harvest salad was amazing. The turkey was over-marinated or something and didn't taste like turkey. The shrimp was seasoned with way too much (what I think was) clove. Our reservation was for 11am so we didn't experience lines but by the time we left there were very long lines at nearly every station. I wouldn't have enjoyed that! Day 1 I ordered the Belgium waffle (no fruit toppings) It was quite large, nothing spectacular.. just ok. The next morning I went with the breakfast buffet, where they also have a omelette station. This place is a solid 3.5 based on our experience here. Pros -bbq brisket sandwich-- my husband liked it way more than me but that's because I didn't like the kind of bread they used otherwise the meat, onion ring and cheese were perfect, the side sweet potato fries were good too. - the nachos were good, came out hot, good amount of meat and overall good taste -the atmosphere is overall good and clean Cons -the side salad for $9 was a huge waste, dried lettuce -the service was really slow (waiter-wise) there were some bus lady's that kept eagerly wanting to take our dishes away as soon a possible but that's about it. Our waiter was Fidel and hardly came around at all. Someone else had to come and take our order because he was missing. When he came back he didn't introduce himself or anything but he also didn't check on us or refill our waters. He gave us our check and asked if we were paying with cats, we said yes but he never came back to take our cats and we really needed to go. I had to ask everyone around which oddly enough there's plenty of staff but no one is actually working. They told me to give the card to Fidel. It was really frustrating. read more

While staying at the Omni Hotel we had breakfast at the Cast Iron twice. The first day we had the breakfast buffet. $22 if you pay outright but offered as a part of a weekend hotel package as well. The buffet included muffins, bagels, scrambled eggs (seasoned) bacon, sausage, a waffle station, and other misc items. The second day we ordered off of the menu and were not disappointed. Food is a little expensive but it is a hotel. The pimento cheese was the best I've ever had. The meat on meals were good. But none of the veggies were cooked enough. They were almost raw. What can I say...I initially decided to have breakfast here while waiting for my room to be ready (because I arrived earlier than check-in time)....and what do you know, I returned to have the SAME menu item the next two mornings! The Benedict (bit with scrambled eggs--I know, I know, is that even still a Benedict, lol) and side potatoes with hollandaise sauce were DELICIOUS! The first morning that I had it, I assured myself that I must have just been hungry to think it was that great, but no...returning the next two mornings confirmed my thoughts. On Christmas I needed a place to take my mother that is part brunch part traditional meal. Last year I found the Cast Iron and it fit the bill perfectly. The food is much better than the average brunch buffet. I like the atmosphere and they have signature items that give a unique feel. I loved the soup line with a nice offering of chili and southwestern soups. The desert line was overflowing with interesting temptations like peanut butter tarts,bread pudding and dozens of other choices. A jazz guitarist was a nice touch. The roaring fire and Xmas decor in the lobby gave us great Christmas morning photo opportunities as we sipped on our mimosas. Mom liked it so much I decided we might make a new family tradition. This year though they booked up very quickly and I couldn't get a reservation. Got on wait list but no call I called several times. Sorry no luck all booked. I started calking around to find a plan B. No luck. Talked to someone at the Reata and they hipped me on how to get into a sold out restaurant. Just show up early for walk in seating. I called to see if they offered walk ups. Guess what they do? Yeah Christmas is saved. Everything worked out great we got our table with no wait and it was wonderful. My only comment is why the heck couldn't they just tell me that when I was calling? They knew from my many calls I was desperate to get a table. But it took another restaurant employee to take the interest in helping me out on this. Funny thing is that the 10:30 seating was totally empty too lots of no shows I'd estimate only half full. If you're looking for a special place for Christmas brunch the Cast Iron is the best spot in the entire metroplex. High class looking buffet style restaurant. The beef tips were amazing but cold :-) Most the food I had here was do delicious but it was cold. For desert I had the red velvet cake and it was so mouthwatering and scrumptious! Melted in my mouth!! They have an excellent wine menu but not many by glass only by bottle. If the food was warm I would have given a 4 star and 5 star if there was more wines by glass choices. read more

We came for New Year's Eve and had a good experience. Our waiter was kind - we had a 4 year old that he treated as special. Great service but the food was good but not great. The Amuse Bouche was a cured scallop and my favorite thing from the evening. The menu was pre-fix and we started with Foie Gras. It was actually a small piece of foie gras on bread and was okay - just very dry. The duck breast was cooked in the sous vide and very good. Desserts were okay but nothing I would come back for (although plated beautifully). If you are staying at the Omni, a good restaurant to visit. If you are a foodie, I wouldn't make a special trip. Oh - and the prefix menu said kids under 5 eat free but we were charged. Only $6.00 but she chose a lunchable. Extra star gained - restaurant contacted us after a hotel survey and refunded the $6. read more
