We went to dinner at Cascade grill...there was a dog show in town and most competitors were staying in one of the 2 hotels "next door". Needless to say; it was very busy...including a party of about 20 without reservations for that night. I recently had a heart procedure. I went ahead and placed my order but had special needs due to dietary restrictions. The first was wanting my dressing on the side. A common request but often forgotten. I also asked that the vegetables that are normally "Sautéed" in a butter type sauce, be dry grilled instead. My meat was cooked to order, the salad had the dressing on the side, the vegetables were dry grilled as requested. Service was timely, excellent and with a smile! All regardless of the extremely busy evening and the obnoxious heart patient (me) with special orders! I will eat here again and happily recommend it to you! read more

I went into this place solely because it was close to my hotel and I didn't feel like driving. I sat in the bar since I was solo - A Seahawks game was playing. The bartender/server was awesome. She was attentive to people who were obviously regulars and to passers-through like me. After eating I moved to the bar because I liked the energy in the room and the bartender was responsible for that. She would get distracted mid serving to attend to the game (a Seahawk fan) but her positive energy was contagious. Several return customers came in and she knew their drinks of choice, asking if they wanted specific drinks. I, of course, forgot my togo box of leftovers and returned 15 minutes or so later to see if it was still there - it was - sitting behind the bar as she thought I'd return. We went for Valentine's Day dinner, arriving around 6:30 pm. Initially we were told it would be a wait of an hour, but it was half that or less. The hostesses were friendly, efficient and handled a stressful job gracefully. Our waiter had what to me is the perfect combination of personality and sense of humor as well as a good memory and knowledge of the menu. I especially liked that he checked to be sure I would be ok with walnut oil in the raspberry vinaigrette, as I don't find many who volunteer warnings--normally you have to ask. The bread was served warm-yum! My salad was big and fresh, my Fisherman's Platter included my first taste of pan fried oysters, and although I took off a lot of the batter, all of my seafood was tender and good. My husband's soup and Asian salad were both tasty, although he would have preferred the chicken grilled. Other servers helped to get our meal to us promptly, and removed some of our used dishes. I enjoyed the music--old time love songs, which I'm old enough to recognize. All-in-all, a lovely dinner. read more

The "SPECIAL" 14OZ BONE IN prime rib was so tough I could not eat it. I have had top round steaks that was much better. Four of us ordered the special and all of us had the same opinion, "never again". My wife had a turkey dinner was served with what appeared to be Stove Top Stuffing. Shrimp skewers that were rubber for another guest. The only redeeming value was the service. After paying $400 for Dinner for 14 people I can tell you I will NEVER return! Slow and rude service - it took 10 minutes before we saw a server, nearly 30 minutes before the appetizer arrived and over an hour for the main course. It was not busy. Any restaurant premises on two things: 1) quality of food 2)overall service Quality of food--ordered prime rib(suggested as house specialty by our server Crystal(she was very polite, very helpful, dominated by a very poor manager)-came with an excellent tortilla soup and good bread(wow this is a great restaurant----NO!!!!!!!) $20.99 prime rib arrived and looked like a pink shoe sole. Had to work to cut it--had NO flavor and was TOUGH. Lady judge next to me had same comment. Waitress had to call manager over to take food away. Manager arrived with surly attitude. Asked what was wrong , we both explained. Her comment was that "must be a bad batch, you guys want rib eye"?? We both said no, I asked for her card, and told her I was going to write a review--she walked away. Came back shortly and asked what she could do to make us happy, didn't want me 'WRITING ANYTHING BAD ABOUT HER RESTAURANT", how about a free dessert??? She would take the items off our bills. We both said no, but I said may I have another cup of soup, instead of dessert-arrived in a bowl--after taking some, the rest with us had eaten, we got ready to go, and I got billed for $6.50 for two soups(what happened to not being billed???? She walked by our table, glared at us then went to another table. Gentleman across from me commented that the salmon he had was good, but piece was the size of his hand?? The following night we commented about this restaurant to some show exhibitors, and they HAD NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT! We went there on a friday afternoon for lunch, and oh my god! the wait staff was very polite, and courtious. the atmosphere was great, and it was spotless clean. i had a terryaki burger, that was served with freshly cut, grilled pineapple. it was excelent. my daughter had a club sandwich, that was out of this world. Jose Lopez, the chef, does not cut corners. the club was loaded with bacon and turkey. the lettuce was nice and crispy, and the fries were not wilted. we got to speak to the owner of the establishment, Sharon Mitchell, and what a joy it was to speak with her. our waitress, Jill Morgan, was outstanding. we are giving 5 stars to this esablishment for the excelence and performance, from not only kitchen but floor staff too, and outstanding flavors. We tried this place based off of others reviews and were sorely disappointed. I had the chicken which was covered in a mound of gelatinous cheese. After peeling it off I found the chicken to be extremely dry and bland. My husband ordered the black and blue burger which wasn't any better. The burger patty was thin, dry and again bland. My mother ordered the southwest salad and could hardly get through it because of how spicy it was. Needless to say we will never go there again. read more

I have no idea who paid the woman to write the review below which led me into the Cascade grill believing it may be good. I will start in reverse order with the meal. The dessert was something bland right out of sysco or FSA's freezer wrapper package.The portion was tiny. Want to charge $6-$8 for a slice of cake? Try making it in house and having it actually be delicious and an appropriate portion. Dinner: A $12.00 BLT with bad tomato. Easy to forget. Appetizer: $10 for 4 shrimp. Should have been 6. This place only is busy due to the hotel there and lack of other dining on this side of freeway. Never will return. Total waste of money. read more

This restaurant is okay. The food and decor are okay. Nothing great, nothing bad. However, there were a couple of annoying things. First, the server never refilled water or 3 dollar iced tea. Even cheap restaurants refill these beverages. Second and most important was a very odd mannerism on the part of the server, which I have noticed a lot lately. What's with this "we" stuff? "How are WE doing?" "Is everything okay for US?" Do you do this as corporate policy? Do you do this with older people? PLEASE STOP IT! It is annoying and comes off as condescending and patronizing. Had a good Philly cheesesteak omelet here today when we met friends for lunch. This is a good restaurant, convenient to I-5 Northbound, definitely your best bet for a good sit-down meal between Eugene and Salem. An older crowd for lunch on a Sunday, fighting over the handicap spots. Off-putting Muzak when you walk in, but don't worry, it's subdued back in the dining area. Service is a little on the slow and inattentive side, but nothing to bring out the hater in me. Prices are reasonable for a nice, clean place. For example, a burger and fries goes for less than ten bucks. My omelet was good. Fresh ingredients, cooked right, seasoned well. A nice portion of good crispy home fries on the side. Not greasy, not at all, and a generous portion of wheat toast to boot. Six others in our party, everyone's meals arrived together without any issues. Big portions all around. I recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to eat there again. read more

This is a decent restraunt, but nothing to crow about. Albany offers better for similar prices. My parents insisted on eating here twice due to location. Both times, service was slow. Both times, we were there over an hour between being seated and food being brought to the table. That wouldn't be so bad if we were brought refills or water, but no. I just went here for a meeting recently. It is a great location for the hotels near the fair grounds. I would say the food is good and the service is good too. It reminds me more of a place I would go if I were staying somewhere else in a hotel. It seems to cater to people visiting from out of town....but is a solid option. read more

Albeit not the most convenient location for many in Albany, we found it to be worth the effort. We have almost always had good food and good service. It appears that on occasion, but not very often, that service can suffer when the restaurant is swamped from those attending events at the Linn County Expo Center next door, and/or when the two large hotels on site are full. Food quality is generally very good, with some of their daily specials being well worth having. Soups are very good, across the board! Parking generally easy, with close-in disabled parking at the door. Motorhome and vehicles with trailers not likely to find easy parking. Suggest leaving them at Expo Center and walking over, if possible. read more

Nice place. Took a group of 17 there this evening and had very good service in spite of the restaurant having a busy night. Everyone in my group seemed to enjoy their food. I wouldn't say it is top of the line by any means but it was all very good. The place is clean and quiet. Drinks were tasty. Prices reasonable. It was a Thursday afternoon at 1:30, and we had the restaurant basically to ourselves, anyway. Second time eating here and this time the quality seemed to have slid a bit. Everyone's food was either cold or just lukewarm. The prime rib was okay but cold. Basically, the food is overpriced for the quality. Cascade grill has become an overpriced Applebee's at best. One shining light, our server Amanda was excellent. Personable and efficient. She sent out hot mashed potatoes and vegetables when we pointed out that ours were cold. Went New Years day for a big family gathering. They were really slow whic b could be why I waitress seemed to only be seeing us. There was so many of us in the banquet room that she brought pitchers of the pop we were drinking so nobody was ever empty, she was always there when we needed something. We were there for Mother's Day. I wanted to take my parents somewhere other that sizzler. Dad had the Salmon, and said it was very good. Mom and I had steaks both of which were dry and had little flavor. The baked potato was under cooked as well. We have never been here before and have always wanted to try it. We thought a drink and steak sounded good and our friends have always raved about this restaurant. We were not impressed!!! We had to wait almost 15 minutes for someone to come up to the hostess table and take our name for the list. There were a number of people waiting for tables. From our observation there was entire bank of tables along the window that were unoccupied, as well as many booths that were empty. There were also a number of tables and booths that hadn't been bussed. After about 20 minutes our name was finally called only to be offered a booth in direct line of the drafty front doors. If I hadn't been so cold, I would have been happy to take one of those table, but was told the drafty booths were the only tables available, but yet we could see lots of empty tables in the restaurant that were out of the draft. We even went into the bar thinking to sit at a table there, but none of them had been bussed, so there was no where to sit in there either. Needless to say we left......and we will probably never go back to try the food we have repeatedly been told is really great food. Sad for for us and too bad the staff wasn't trained in customer service. read more

I tried the Cascade Grill for the first time tonight and doubt I will go back. There are other restaurants in Albany that offer the same type of food as Cascade Grill does and the overall experiences I have had rank better than tonight. I expected more from such an established and talked about restaurant. Menu Price: The menu price was just a smidge more than the norm for this type of food fare. The average price for a meal, not the pasta dishes, hamburgers, or sandwiches was $15-$30 or more per plate. The drink menu was also pricey with most cocktails over $7 - $8. The prices stated online where lower than the actual menu prices at the restaurant. Atmosphere: We arrived at Cascade Grill at about 5:30 and there were only about 6-7 tables full. Our hostess asked if we minded sitting at a table in the middle of the section we were being seated in. When I told her I would much prefer a booth, I was quickly met with an exasperated sigh, given our menus, and told that she would have to clean off a booth table and that it would be a minute. Mind you, when we walked in there were only 3 couples sitting in booths, the rest were open. Other than that little issue, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Taste of Food: The food was actually the best part out of this whole dining experience. I wish our overall experience would have been better, because I definitely think we would go back for the broccoli alone. The steak was cooked perfectly rare and my chicken was moist and tender. Everything had been seasoned just right. I only wish we would have been offered more of the sourdough bread! Wait Staff and Bussers: This is where I have the most frustration over dinner tonight. When I treat myself to a meal out it is a little vacation from dinner at home and a way to relax from the stresses of life. This was not a "vacation" at all. We stood waiting to be seated quite a while, and as I stated above, that was an ordeal of its own. It was over five minutes before our waitress came to get our drink order. I was first given a glass of water with something floating in it. When I pointed this out to our waitress no apology was given (nor was I ever given another glass of water). What was our waitresses name you ask? I don't know as we were never told. It took another five (long) minutes to get our sodas. When our waitress asked what we wanted for dinner, I told her it was our first time eating at Cascade Grill and would she please tell me about the side dishes. I was not given any explanations of the items, just what they were. We had a bus boy slowly come to our table to take our bread plates. He walked with his head down, shoulders slumped, and with a strut. He didn't say anything just took the plate and left. We were not asked if we would like water or even refills of our sodas. We were not asked how our meal was or if there was anything we needed. Our waitress was very slow. It took us ten minutes alone to get our bill after asking and then another 7 or so minutes for it to return with our receipt. My over all thought of watching the staff and bussers was that we customers were an inconvenience and they wanted to be any where other than at work. I expected more, especially from a somewhat upscale restaurant and one that was not even very busy yet. Location: Cascade Grill is located by the Linn County Fairgrounds. There is easy I-5 on and off ramps just down the street and hotels located closely for weary travelers. Next time I want a nice meal out, I will not be heading to Cascade Grill. read more
