Went for an early dinner on a Thursday - no waiting waitress was friendly. My Cascade chicken was delicious, it was topped with cheese and mushrooms. The fish and fries was really good too. Fish was crunchy on outside and yummy on the inside. Prices are reasonable. The ambiance was nice, relaxing and welcoming. Will come back again.

This was a sort of last minute decision for us and I have to say I'm not disappointed. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived around 7:00pm and most people were eating. We were seated after about 10 min as they had to clear and push together a couple tables for us. The restaurant is fairly open with tables and booths. It was pleasantly lit and not overly noisy. There is also a bar attached to the restaurant and it was quite busy. We opted to sit in the dining room. Our server, Sonia, was pleasant and efficient. She kept the waters filled and my Dr. Pepper full. The food took a little while. But we were eating by 7:40. Everything was tasty and appropriate temperatures. The prime rib was delicious and exactly right. I did not care for the horseradish sauce as it was more like a horseradish ranch... not horrible but not horseradish. The ladies liked their salads although they both thought the chicken was a little dry. My daughter enjoyed her burger. They all commented that the fries were really good. I was up to my armpits in beef and potatoes so I didn't try the fries. We opted out of dessert but the ones we saw at other tables looked tasty. I would recommend the Cascade Grill as long as you aren't in a hurry and don't mind paying a little more for the sit down experience. My only other request... get some good horseradish on the plate with the prime rib.

Points for convenience and location. Right next to the expo center and two hotels, this can be an excellent place to wind down and stay responsible by walking. However, food was a bit disappointing. May have been an off experience. Appetizer Bread - warm and comforting, a solid start to wind down and also get some carbs in to prepare for drinks, if applicable. Beef Soup of the Day - warm, hearty, comforting. I don't care much for beef soups but wanted something warm instead of a salad. It was solid, but I prefer other soups when possible, unfortunate that there's only one available at all times. 12oz Prime Rib - tasty prime rib but there was an excessive amount of fat. A fair amount of the prime rib was cut off because there was a little too much. Garlic potatoes were tasty though, so the overall entree isn't the worst. Chicken Fettuccini - overall, a pretty bland dish. Chicken was dry and not very seasoned. While the mushroom sauce was good, the pasta was bland and unseasoned and it was evident. Grilled garlic bread was fair and picked up excess sauce nicely.

I had an early dinner here by myself around 5pm. The staff is very attentive and the food was a perfect temperature. I don't know what they did with the shrimp but it tastes so fresh. This is much better than your typical bar & grille for anyone curious.

Eat here regularly. I am a fan. The drinks at the bar were fantastic and creatively done. My favorites on the menus are. Prime rib stroganoff, their ribeye or the seafood pasta Fast, friendly, and efficient service are usually the norm

Great drinks at the bar

I, myself, am not a seafood eater and so this is a third-hand account of the food here. My partner goes all out and gets a massive plate of food. I believe her go to dish is the "When Larry Met Shrimpy," which comes with lobster and shrimp, in a sea of potatoes, corn, and sausage. She always gets so happy when she starts eating, and I love watching her enjoy herself. Every single time she eats here, she is always happy and always satisfied. When I look at what she gets, it's just a massive amount of food. She's a small person, but she really rips through the entire thing. Often times she moans about how she can't finish what's left, but almost invariably she does. I know she enjoys the whole thing...sausage and potatoes aren't just filler for her, they're an integral part of the boil. Recently, our son (10 y/o) has decided he wants to explore the seafood world. He's been somewhat denied, as I dislike seafood myself. Now my partner is gladly willing to have him try new things, as she'll finish it herself if it's gluten free. The first time we came here, he got a simple lobster tail by itself. He enjoyed it, but said that he didn't like the garlic-parmesan sauce that came with it. He still ate most of the whole thing. The last time he went with my partner, he got a "Larry," a boil with a single lobster tail. This time he went with the honey garlic sauce, which he said he enjoyed a lot more. He didn't eat all of the lobster, but my partner thinks that's because he's still figuring out what parts he likes to eat, and how to eat it. (This is one reason I dislike seafood; there seems to be particular ways you have to eat stuff and part of it you don't eat, but suck on? I don't know. I'll stick with burgers). He did hoover up all the potatoes though. He wasn't a fan of the sausage, but we seem to think it's just because he's somewhat unfamiliar with a bratwurst style of sausage. I think. My observations as a third party observer: The prices seem high to me. However, my partner tells me the quality is excellent and, by god, you do get a lot of food. Also, this cart takes longer to prepare the food than some of the other carts. I almost always get my food before she does, and by mutual agreement, we all eat as soon as our stuff is ready. This leaves her watching me eat to start, and then me watching her eat to finish. It's okay, just something to be aware of. I'd much prefer that the food be cooked to order, versus just hanging around in a pot all day to be ladled up when asked for and served rewarmed and overdone. All in all, I love that this cart is here, and my partner truly enjoys the food. It's also opening up a new world of food for my children and I can definitely appreciate that.

It is always a big deal for me when I get to tell my wife that we are going to Sybaris. Tonight was going to be even more memorable because we brought our daughter along to celebrate Mother's Day. Our problem began when we ran into traffic and were 15 minutes late. At the door, our waiter informed us that the restaurant seats people every half hour. I apologized and we were seated. If I had known what was coming I would have turned around at the door and left. What followed was two hours of some of the rudest service I have ever experienced. I spent much of my youth working in restaurants in Upstate NY. I know that customers can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but our only mistake was that we were 15 minutes late. We spent the whole meal being polite while this guy continuously made us feel uncomfortable. It's difficult to describe the way this guy was acting. The food came out and it was good, but the waiter was coming off like wise ass. At the end of the meal there were hardly any people in the restaurant. The waiter gave me the bill then waited 15 minutes to pick up my card. I guess he got his satisfaction. If there was any doubt about his intentions, when we were getting ready to leave, he kept asking me if I wanted more water. That's an asshat move. Much to my wife's dismay, I tipped him fair because that's just what you do. My daughter gained a learning experience on the nature of jerks so I suppose that's something, but overall it was a sad twist on what was supposed to be a grand event. Of course we can't ever come back, but please take this information and remind your staff that they are a big part of the dinning experience.

The sea bass tacos that my friend ordered were amazing (I stole one as one does, d'uh). The soft tortilla did not maintain its structural integrity - perhaps doubling up on those or using a tortilla that could use handling is my only feedback on it. I enjoyed my ahi tuna small plate. I couldn't quite figure out if they cook it and chill it and just keep it chilled until someone orders it or if it was cooked to order and then chilled right away. Either way, it is good. It really is a small plate though. A couple of bites, not really a shareable appetizer. My friend and I split a beet salad and added the steak protein to it and we loved it. If you've ever rolled into Albany late in the evening and thought, "Now where in the world am I…read moregonna get a decent bite?" allow me to point you toward an old standby: Pop's Branding Iron. This place has been holding down the fort for what feels like forever, and walking in feels a bit like stepping into a time capsule where the coffee's hot, the plates are big, and nobody's in a hurry to reinvent the diner. One of my personal favorites is the patty melt simple, classic, and exactly what a patty melt ought to be. My daughter has her own favorite on the menu Monte-Cristo with fries that could probably feed a small ranch crew, That's kind of part of the charm here. The portions are big, the prices are fair, and when a lot of places in town have already shut their lights off for the night, Pop's is still there doing its thing. Now, I'll be honest it shows its age a little. A bit of cleaning and polishing here and there wouldn't hurt. But honestly, that worn-in feel is part of the story. If you're looking for something affordable, old-fashioned, and dependable especially later in the evening Pop's Branding Iron is definitely worth a stop. Four stars from me, and a tip of the hat to a place that's been feeding folks for generations.

Pop's Branding Iron is a good, solid diner with quite a few menu options. Breakfast (served all…read moreday) is my usual go-to here, but I've sampled a few appetizers and bites of food from the dinner menu here and there. The portions are very generous, and considering the prices of food these days, their prices are very reasonable. This is a great spot to eat at if you're looking for a lot of food at a great value. The food and service are about average, but to me, this is all a decent diner really needs to be. A big pro is that they are open late (7am-10pm daily). I recommend that they update their online menu, which advertises serving dishes 24-hours a day, which may confuse some customers. All in all, a good, reliable spot to eat a meal! There's a lot of dining space here, so it's good for both small and larger parties.
