Awful, awful service No idea who was waiting on our table. Had 5-6 people stop by but nobody bothered to refill our drinks. Table of 6 and 2 plates came out, then 30 minutes later 3 more come out and then about 10 minutes after that the final plate comes out. Absolutely ridiculous They then tell us we can't split the check?? Really ? Nobody had a clue what was going on. Wouldn't even consider returning 1 star is about 2 too many for this place. ME AND MY WIFE GOT FOOD POISONING AT THIS PLACE. HORRIBLE FOOD AT HIGH PRICES. The food was horrible. Me and my wife went there to eat. As we walked in the door the two waiters were playing Rock, Paper, Scissors as we stood there waiting to be seated. After they finished their game they came over and finally greeted us. Upon sitting down we were told the burriotoes were big. So I ordered the house burrito my wife ordered a taco salad. Nasty over seasoned beef and was very small in size of the burrito. My wife taco salad was extremely dry. So as we waited in the almost empty eating establishment trying to choke down the food. We never recieved a refill on our two sodas. I also ordered fries as a side which came to us greasy. That night we got extremely sick and was still throwing up the next morning. And we payed 29 dollars for that crap. So if you ever in Bryan, Texas this is NOT a good place to eat. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET SICK. read more

We sat down waited for a waiter, no one came, finally the hostess after 5 minutes came and got our drink order, gave us our drinks, still no one has came. The hostess brought our chips and hot sauce. There were five tables after us that have all had their orders taken and drinks, still waiting for someone to take our order. After about 20-30 minutes of no one coming to take our order we left. The whole restaurant is family owned. My wife was a bartender yet the other employees knew how to make drinks and brought them to the customer and they would get tipped not bartender so in a sense take her tips. Couldn't even stand up for herself at times cuz they're all so close knit. Not something they gonna talk about. Let the public think it's all nice family business. read more

Took 3 guest to Casa Rodrigues in Bryan, Texas today and was the worst dining experience; I was embarrassed! The service was horrible; the owner was rude; the food was horrible and one plate never arrived and the plates that did arrive , one was not edible ,& the other two were sub par and barely edible and certainly not finished; tea refills never arrived even after repeated request. The salsa & chips were the only edible thing placed before us and yet to get a tea refill and or more salsa /chips would have taken an act of God to obtain. Excuses, rather than plausible reason for the ineptness of staff / owner and lack of quality of fare were however abundant. We would never recommend this eatery, nor do we have the desire to revisit this establishment. read more

My gf and I visited here on the recommendation of a friend. We were not disappointed! Our server, Angela, was bright, friendly, and attentive (without being bothersome). Good: Nachos were piled high with good stuff (not just a pile of tortilla chips with some stuff on top) Gave me fresh jalapenos instead of pickled. This is the worst restaurant in downtown Bryan. Service is absolutely horrible. Sat for 23 minutes waiting for someone to take our food and beverage order. We sat and watched 5 staff stand between the kitchen and restrooms laughing and having a good ol time. They had no care in the world even knowing we had already asked one of those individuals to get our server. The food was okay but not great. Gave them another chance today March 15, 2018. Service still horrible. Waited 25 minutes to be seated due to during their busy part of the day 2:00 pm. As we stood for 25 minutes the seating hostess had 7 empty tables she could have seated people however she could not seat anyone due to she was answering the phone and give to-go orders. One seating hostess was crazy. We finally were seated and the floors were so slippery you had to be very careful to not slip down. Cutting this short we waited 1-1/2 hour for our food to arrive. The owner then walks in the door pointing to the staff to sweep the floor and move the rugs. Make sure all the tables are aligned however no once did she ask any of the customers how there food and service was. She's oblivious to how bad her customer service is. Food will not keep people coming back and waiting over 2 hours to eat. The table behind us waited 25 minutes just to get chips, salsa and drinks. My opinion go somewhere else if you want Mexican good. The owner could careless about the restaurant. read more

I have frequented Casa Rod many times over my 7 years of living in BCS. I used to tell people that this was my favorite Mexican food in the area; however, I have sadly been disappointed the past few times. We recently ventured out on the queso Blanco, which had little flavor. My go to entrees are the cheese or sour cream enchiladas. My last experience with the cheese enchiladas was subpar. They had scant cheese inside and on top and also had little flavor. The rice was dry and sticky but the beans were still tasty. As far as environment - the restaurant had a strange smell to it and service was just ok. I would give it one more shot for old times sake. I hope they can get back to the level they once were! read more

I went here for the first time on 9/7/15, Labor Day weekend. It was a Sunday and my group arrived there around 6:30. We were seated immediately and given chips and salsa within the first two minutes we sat down, but no waiter came to our table to take our drink order. We ended having to grab a hostess to take our drink order. Two of the people ordered sweet tea and they both received unsweet. Also, we had to track a server around so we could get refills on our drinks. We finally get to order our food at 6:55, but didn't receive it until 7:30. Here is each review of each meal that was served: Three cheese enchiladas: when I received my plate the enchiladas were not hot, but slightly warm. It was only ok and I didn't think it was worth the wait. Iron Mike meal: my friend had three chicken enchiladas with the fried eggs on top. His enchiladas were warm like mine, but he actually found a chicken bone inside his enchiladas. Steak quesadilla: my friend said that she could get this meal faster and about the same quality as Taco Bell. Fajitas for one: my friend's fajitas came out the hottest and freshest from the kitchen compared to all of our meals. He really enjoyed them and had no complaints. Overall, I think that the restaurant was decent, but very understaffed for the amount of customers they had. I'd be willing to try this place again since it is so highly recommended. read more

This is a legendary restaurant that has been in Bryan for many years. If I am not mistaken, it went through some ownership changes. I have gone here many times over the years and have had consistent decent food when it comes to a few entrees. They do enchiladas, nachos, chips and salsa and margaritas well. What you should avoid is breakfast. Their AM shift isn't prepared, plain and simple. Restaurant seems to be run by high school kids who are temperamental and moody and take out frustrations with the restaurant on customers. My wife and I sat for 5 minutes before anyone noticed us. Our drink orders were exchanged to another waitress and were wrong. Worst of all, ther were follicles in our food that shouldn't have been there. There's a charm to a "hole in the wall" but this restaurant still needs a good cleaning and they just don't have good Mexican breakfast food outside of breakfast tacos, menudo and tortillas. Overall, get there for happy hour when the restaurant is staffed by adults and managed better and when the food is cooked better. Avoid Breakfast. read more

We have gone back SEVERAL times hoping that "it was just a bad night" -- but unfortunately the poor service & quality of food continues to sadden us. Our last visit, there were 4 of us, restaurant was not full, even for Covid standards. Our drinks took forever, and then our food came out after a VERY LONG WAIT & came out ONE PLATE AT A TIME. 3 of us were almost finished by the time our 4th guest FINALLY got his food -- which was loaded nachos -- the easiest of all 4 meals. I want to start off with a waited tables for 2 years while I was in college so I'm normally pretty understanding but I am so disappointed with our experience last night. Slowest moving people I've ever seen in my life! We waited about 15 minutes for them to wipe down a table for us to sit at, the place was almost empty and they acted like they didn't want us to come in. Finally got seated, didn't even get water for about 30 minutes and had to track someone down to get it. Finally got our drinks when our food came about and that was when we had been there over an hour, eating chips, salsa and water. By the time our food and drinks arrived we were full and ready to leave. Thank god I was full from chips because the fajita beef had zero flavoring and tasted like it had gone bad, I had to spit it back into my napkin. I ate at this restaurant just before Christmas. I was a guest of a local College Station resident. She thought I would like Tex-Mex like you would find in San Antonio. The service was good. Our water empty glasses were kept full. I ordered enchiladas as I normally do in a new Mexican food restaurant. I think that's the best way to determine how good it is. My enchiladas were okay. As I am writing this review nearly a month after I ate them, I cannot remember anything special about them. I picked Casa Rod to celebrate my birthday in. They didn't seem to know how to efficiently seat people. We waited for over an hour for a table, meanwhile they sat three parties who had gotten there after us. Part of my party ended up having to leave because their child was getting restless. They ran out of margaritas and told us it would be ready in 30 minutes. When we FINALLY got seated, the waiter told us they wouldn't be ready before the end of the night. We had enough and left. To their credit, they did refund my margarita I had gotten during my wait but could finish because we were going to leave. We went to Chuys and while it was crowded and service wasn't the best for it, we ended up having a much better experience. I've never been a huge Chuys fan but I will be going back. As for my first visit to Casa Rod, never again. When in downtown Bryan I will stick to Papa Perez or Taco Crave. read more

I've always heard good things about this place and I know it's always been featured as a best of the Brazos place so I decided to give it a try when I was out in downtown Bryan one day. This place is just plain awful. I just don't understand how this place has won anything and judging from the 3 star review it has over all, I'd say others probably agree with me. My girlfriend got the carne guisada and it smelled and tasted like a canned dog food. I got the spinach enchiladas and the cream sauce that was used was literally gritty, like it had been made with a powdered milk or something and not mixed well. Went there last week. A girl brought chips and salsa. We asked for queso and told her we were ready to order. She said our waitress would take our order. We got the queso but the waitress didn't show for 20 minutes. We ordered enchiladas and nachos. Two waters and two margaritas. 20 more minutes go by and we grabbed a girl who got us water. After 35 minutes we got two watered down top shelf margaritas. The food showed 15 minutes later. The quacamole on my boyfriend's nachos looked as though it had been sitting out. Very dark. The waitress never came by, never apologized. The table behind us complained also. I like the food most days but this place is consistently inconsistent. Bad service, good food. Our family normally loves casa rod, BUT, we went for dinner the other night... there were only five tables eating and several waitresses and staff. The service was terrible. We're didn't see our waitress again after we sent my young sons fries back because they were cold in the middle. Our food got cold waiting for them to be remade. They were inedible because it appears they just tossed the same fries in the fryer. Our drinks were never refilled and we never saw her again to ask for anything. When we requested our check from another waitress, our waitress couldn't even be bothered to bring it to us. The BUS BOY brought it. Casa Rod is usually good with good service which is the only reason they're getting 2 starts now. Very disappointing. read more

I went to eat here a few days ago for dinner with a few friends and I had really great service. Our waiter Kevin was very good about refilling our drinks and asking if we needed anything else.
