I'm so upset to write this but for the past three occasions i've come to this restaurant the food is cold, not tasty, the drinks are watered down, and the servers are distracted on phones while 1 server runs the entire place. I ordered my child's plate first and their food never even came. My meal was cold and everything was rushed even though there were only a few patrons. This used to be my FAVORITE restaurant so it is extremely upsetting that it's come to this point. I'm not sure if they changed chefs but the food has gone down significantly. I informed them my food was cold and my child never even received their food and the server let me know that other people didn't know how to pay in american currency and were having confusion. totally understandable but i don't see why my food needs to be cold and my experience ruined for that? i will never be back again :( read more

Food took over 45 minutes to come out, despite the restaurant not being very busy and us only being a party of 2. Heard other patrons talking about the wait times as well, after 2 people got up and left after apparently waiting 30 minutes for their food. Waitress only came by to give us our drinks and then disappeared for the whole 45 minutes we were waiting for the food. When the food finally came out, my fiancé's food order was wrong. He ordered chicken enchiladas, it came out with 2 chicken and 1 beef. How does that even happen. In addition, my flautas tasted like they were cooked in burnt/old frying oil, and one of them was soggy. When I told the waitress about the enchiladas being wrong, she did take $3.50 off our total. Some of the most bland refried beans I've ever had in my life; this place has incredibly mediocre food with a ridiculous wait time. Customer service was awful, with the exception of the nice man who was bringing chips and salsa to the tables, who was the only worker consistently in the dine-in area checking on customers (despite the restaurant being seemingly overstaffed for the amount of service being provided). New to the area, l followed up on a local's recommendation and came seeking the Big Red Margarita. Foolish me, I thought it was a big, red margarita - as in strawberry, cherry or raspberry. Nope! None of those. It is literally a huge margarita served with an upside down Big Red softdrink in it! How fun! And potent! And surprisingly good. However, beware. Regular margaritas, regular size, are served in plastic cups. Really?! Star deducted. The seven-layer dip as a starter was delicious and my husband was happy to have the kind of chili he likes on his enchiladas. Star added back. Service was okay. Good sometimes, inattentive other times. Butt (pun intended), what I did not like, and I noticed it repeatedly, was that when taking orders our server would rest his derriere on a nearby empty table. I Went a Saturday afternoon. The tortilla soup is very good so I'll give them that. But the enchiladas? They're so sad. They are as wide as a taquito- like they should be made for kids, and nothing inside of it but ground beef that desperately needs seasoning and onions/peppers. I received cheese enchiladas instead of chicken so we told the server and he took my plate away and I had to watch my boyfriend eat most of his meal before I got a replacement plate. The crispy tortilla shell was stale, no seasoning on the chicken inside the enchilada either. First time here (11/19/24) and the last. Food is not good, the tacos were similar to taco bell but with a much higher price tag. The ground beef was that same fast food texture and salty. This place SUCKS. I would give this place 0/5 stars if I could. Worst dining experience I've personally ever had. This restaurant would be perfect on Gordon Ramsey's show "Kitchen Nightmares". Waited 45 minutes to get a table, and once we were seated at a table, no one even bothered to come give us waters or menus. After sitting at our table for another 45 minutes without a server coming to us, I had to ask for menus, waters, and chips and salsa. When we finally got served chips n salsa, it tasted like they received yesterday's unused chips; they were stale and hard and yuck. After waiting 20 more minutes no one came to ask us for our order, and we had to ask someone, yet again, to simply place an order. When we finally got our food (Sour cream enchiladas, Iron Mike's enchiladas), it was so bad. Bland, flavorless, and extremely under seasoned. The enchilada's tortillas were chewy, the meat was bland. The beans tasted like cat food, and the rice tasted like cardboard. This place is TERRIBLE. Never coming back again. read more

I came on Thursday for the happy hour deal on the margaritas for $3.99, however I was upset to find out that there is an additional $2 charge just because I got a flavor, not one of the premier flavors. So this was my annual quest to Bryan...and it happened to fall on Cinco de Mayo, so it felt right to try some local Tex-Mex for breakfast. It may only be because I was hungry, but the salsa, which I initially didn't love, grew on me... though it was too mild. The tortillas were warm but didn't seem particular fresh or locally-made. This was the weakest element of my meal today. The potatoes showed a little bit more love and would have been excellent had they been a little bit more consistent. As it was the smaller cut pieces were almost mushy while the larger pieces were significantly undercooked. Raw potato is frankly something I find pretty unappealing. Better tortillas and a stronger flavor profile are all it would take to make this place pretty good. They should either spice up the salsa or offer hot sauce a bit more aggressively. read more

My parents went there on first Friday in down town bryan. They waited 2 hours and the waitress never came back to take the food order other than the chips and margaritas. My parents sat in booth and some young kids entered the restaurant while my parents were seated one of the kids dropped a brick on my dad's back and started laughing, and just walked away like nothing happened. We decided to give it a try after reading up on the recent troubles with parking and we don't regret our choice not one bit. I'm sad to hear that our new found favorite will be closing. My only reason for giving this place 4 stars is the lack of coca cola products ( Coke & Diet Coke ) but overall will continue to visit until they close the doors! Absolutely disgusting food. If you can even call it food. It hurts my soul that they bill this as Mexican. It's not. Not even close. It's TexMex garbage drowned in chili sauce and melted yellow cheese. So if you love having a heart attack on a plate, swimming in grease then I guess you'd love this spot. The service isn't great either. We had to ask many times for refills. The margarita we got was clearly from a bottle mix and cheap bottom shelf wine-based tequila. I would give this place 5 stars but the service sucks EVERY TIME I come here. My wife and I eat breakfast here almost every Sunday. The food is top notch. The restaurant supports the 2nd amendment which 8s worth 5 stars but the service just won't allow me to give it. It takes forever to be seated, even longer to get your drinks, and you should plan on waiting 15-20 minutes for someone to take your order. Allow another 20 minutes for the food to arrive then don't expect your waitress/waiter to ever return to your table. My husband and I gave this place a shot after our favorite Mexican restaurant was packed. There is good reason that Casa Rod was not busy at all... First off, my husband and I were cheerfully greeted by the hostess who seated us and then we waited over 15 minutes to even get acknowledged. We made eye contact with basically every server and no one stopped to ask us if we had been helped except one. She did her best to get the girl who was our server's attention and help her, but it didn't do much. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 waters but she only brought 1 coffee and said that she other girl told her only 1 (whether she told her just 1 coffee or not, she was not our waitress and our waitress never actually took our order). When our food came out, it looked promising. My husband had the huevos rancheros and I had the Migas. Everywhere else I've had migas has always put salsa in the dish, but this migas did not. Both dishes came fairly warm and probably because they had been sitting waiting for our waitress to get them. My husband's dish was completely undercooked, save for the tortillas and beans. My dish was very mediocre and then I realized that there was a hair cooked into the slice of ham. At first, I thought maybe it was mine, but I have light brown hair and this was jet black and truly cooked into the ham. We left as soon as possible. There are plenty of better options for Mexican near downtown Bryan. Do not waste your time and money here. read more
