COME FOR THE TACOS. Seriously. That is the whole review. The tacos here are a little cheaper than most places and somehow way better than they have any right to be. I went with three kinds because I respect myself. Barbacoa, bacon, egg / vegetarian. Every single one was good but let us not kid ourselves. Barbacoa is king and it remains undefeated. Always. My wife ordered the sour cream enchiladas and was clearly very happy with her life choices. My kids went full breakfast mode with pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon. The bacon was a bit overcooked so next time I may ask them to stop just short of turning it into charcoal. Service was excellent. They checked on us often and brought anything we needed without us having to do that awkward looking around thing. The inside is a little worn down but honestly that just fits the bill with authentic Mexican. If the place looked fancy I would be suspicious. We will absolutely be back once our pants fit again. read more

I get their shredded chicken tacos (or corn or flour tortillas) almost every Tuesday. They're never dry and that's without the red or green sauce. I do also love their sauces, this is one of the best places to eat in Bryan because the service is also great. I use their drive thru! read more

Do not patron La Botana restaurant. Horrible food and poor customer service. The OWNER refused to fix an issue and said in so many words that I was lying. The employees put 4-5 tortilla chips in my order of nachos and thought that was acceptable for the price I paid. read more

I have the worse experiences every time I call. I understand they get busy but when I call in for a take out order I get put on hold and almost 5 minutes later I hear a click! They hung up on me. They are open for business. Busy, a little crowded, but still great food at grthey opened their dining room last Friday. I had the steak fajita quesadillas for lunch today. This is a very good restaurant. Love the green salsa. The red is not bad. Steak quesadillas here is my absolute favorite meal. Perfectly seasoned and grilled fajita, chopped up and a great portion put on the quesadilla with loads of cheese. About 3/4" thick yummy gooey goodness. Rice is always fluffy and fresh. Upon first glance you can tell that it's a family owned restaurant, the inside of the restaurant is never too busy to get a crowded feeling but it also makes you feel like your at home. Customer service was great the lady there was able to recommend 10 dishes and back i personally chose the fajitas and the beef was so tender it was splitting with the edge of the fork. Only thing i would change is longer straws it got annoying having to put my finger inside the cup to reach the straw everytime. read more

I'm a huge fan of Mexican food. So when I find a place in a town where that style of food is pretty sparse, you tend to give them more chances than they really deserve. I gave this place four chances, and they couldn't come through even once! The last time I went, I ordered a chicken chimichanga (deep fried burrito), and asked for the red gravy (enchilada sauce) along with cheese drizzled on top. The entree arrived with sides of rice and beans. I'll tell you what... I literally tasted the chimi once, and the beans and rice, twice before bailing on the whole meal. As I walked up to the cashier station to pay (yeah I was going to pay and get the hell out of there), the cashier motioned to my waitress in excited and animated motion at how I left the meal untouched. They both asked me what was wrong, in a very concerned and empathetic manner. I told them how the chicken tasted burnt and ashy, the beans and rice were cold, and the what they call red sauce was nothing more than a thin tomatoey mild salsa. They wanted to make amends and asked me to wait and at least order something else from their menu. Like a sap, I reluctantly agreed to order the cheese enchiladas... to go. I mean come on, they're simple cheese enchiladas, how can you ruin enchiladas? Yeah... epic fail. They arrived cold and wallowing in a thin velvetta like cheese sauce that was obviously stretched out to conserve the "goodness". Come on guys! It's simple, and there's no way you can F it up, and Jesus died on the cross for your sins, so there isn't any excuse to screw up cheese and corn tortillas! Sigh, never again. lol read more

This is my first time here; I am trying the cabrito. haven't had any since Jr. High, when I lived on a dairy and it was homemade. Dining area is clean and staff is courteous and very helpful; I did have a few questions about the cabrito which were promptly answered. Two problems though - wobbly table (I hate that!) and the price. The cabrito soft tacos and a to-go garden salsa - $15 and change including tip. All in all, I had a good experience. I use to really enjoy this restaurant but sadly every time I have gone here recently the service has been terrible. When we came in, the waitresses discussed for a couple of minutes where to sit us while we stood awkwardly waiting. Once they seated us, they gave us ours menus, took our drink orders, and left. We waited for about 10 mins but the waitress never brought our drinks, chips, or salsa. Eventually, we left without ever getting chips, salsa, drinks, or even ordering. I got online to check to see if they have Margaritas. I'm not sure why so many bad reviews, we are amazed at the food we have gotten here, many times. The salsa is great, served warm. We've had the taco dinners, the enchilada plate, fajita quesadillas, and breakfast tacos! If you dine in, it's very clean and the decor is nice. The service has always been good. I've not tried the breakfast but went for a late lunch early supper. The portion size for the price is good. I had the cheese enchiladas and my son had the beef fajita burrito. The homemade salsa was good and the chips were typical. The entrees, however, were mediocre, as others have stated. If one is budget conscious, this place may work. We both ate for $16 and there was a lot of food for that price. The taste was not bad but not good either. There was an odd taste to the rice and the beans were dried out and actually had formed a crust. The enchiladas were okay but not memorable. There certainly are better Tex-mex options in the area, but they cost more too. I gave three stars because for the price the food is acceptable. If you want exceptional, it will cost more. read more

I found La Botana to be pretty average. I tried a beef fajita taco and a carne asada gordita. The fajita meat tasted like foodservice pre-marinated/seasoned flank or skirt steak. If it had been flame-grilled I couldn't taste it. The meat was a bit too salty, bit not as bitter with papain and tenderizers, like some places. The carne asada was better, not being too salty, and was juicier. But it wasn't as lively as that at Taqueria Mexico. read more

Went for breakfast and ordered migas, when they brought the plate it was covered in cheese(which I have never tried like that) but tried it anyway and the corn tortilla was super soggy an their beans had no flavor.i only took two bites an didn't want anymore. Then I went the next day for breakfast tacos an went through the drive thru an there was no menu or working speaker so I drove up to the window an ordered a carne guisada taco with two other tacos and when I checked my taco it was not carne guisada it was just carne an potatoes.totally different from any other carne guisada I've ever had.
