Beautiful aesthetic, terrific menu selections, and you can even get half a beer! What's not to like? There's nice music playing and the small space has every possible square foot utilized in a nice manner. And, absolutely delicious focaccia! Today I went for the pesto zucchini which is awesome. This is an amazing hidden gem on College Ave and also conveniently located by the 51B stop! I've come here so many times and this place has consistently good food. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options. The vibe inside is cozy and I think it's neat that you can see the people baking new focaccia pizzas or chicken from the side tables. I got 2 pieces of different focaccia pizzas. I thought that the bread was perfectly crisp while also being airy. My favorite was the Melanzane which has eggplant, pesto, and ricotta. The pesto had a nutty and fresh taste that went well with the cheese. They have a lot of different flavors to try and other side dishes as well such as aranchini. The service is friendly and helpful. One thing to note is that find street parking might be challenging depending on the time of day you go. Overall, I think this is a solid place to grab a quick bite to eat or to have a casual meal out. I think that for the price, the portion of food and quality make it worth it. The happy hour appetizer small plate comes with olives, crispy cracker circles, and a few small 2-inch squares of flatbread pizza. Perfect to pair with a glass of wine. I ordered a glass of their chardonnay for $14. I also decided to get 2 slices of pizza, which range between $6 to $8 per square slice. I chose the Tartufata (Pork sausage, truffle, mushroom, provolone) and Capricciosa (ham, artichoke, olives, provolone). The pizza was nicely made and heated up slightly in their pizza oven. I recommend you drizzle their infused olive oil (condiment at each table) on your pizza or focaccia bread. I would definitely come again during Happy Hours between 4:30pm to 6pm. We finally made time to visit this place that was highly recommended. Thank you Drew!! It's settled in a community similar to Willow Glen. Parking was easy thanks to the park mobile app. We love Focaccia bread and they actually make all the pizza on this type of bread. It's designer pizza for sure. I do not remember the names but they were all delicious. I will upload the receipt. My girl ordered the lasagne and it came with a small fresh salad that was delicious. Lasagne was 7/10 but the pizza was 10/10. I like my lasagne crispy but this was maybe too crispy or sitting for too long before being reheated. Flavor of the lasagne on a fresher bite was on point though. We ordered the beef lasagne but I believe they do have a vegetable option. Every bite of the pizza was airy and light and perfect ratio of sauce and toppings. Amazingly crispy and fresh!!! I could not choose a favorite they were ALL great. We ordered a piece of focaccia bread and they also served us a Peruvian pesto for dipping. The French fries we ordered were also tasty and that came with a green dipping sauce that had a hint of spice. Do not ask for ranch they do not carry it. Like I said this is designer food. We tried the Italian soda and it tasted like sprite with less artificial flavor. Please try this place if you enjoy pizza and focaccia bread you will not regret it. They have cute fairy lights stringed throughout the establishment creating ambiance for a cute date night. The service was great! I was able to get seated and helped within seconds of walking in! On my way to Rockridge BART, I passed Casa Barotti and my sister immediately said "A FOCACCIARIA? WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW ABOUT THIS?" So we ran our errands and backtracked to Casa Barotti to check out the menu. We decided the mushroom and leek focaccia looked good and was a reasonable price ($7) for a slice so we split it. It was SO GOOD. It was much thinner than what I expected, very light and fluffy, and had a delightful gentle crunch. I could easily eat 2 slices for a snack and 3 for a meal. We didn't try anything else there, but SO impressed at the texture of this bread. We talked to the employee for a few mins and found out that it opened 3 years ago, so roughly 2021. It's quite brave to open a business during the pandemic, but I'm glad they've done really well for themselves. Environment was nice. I did have to ask someone to wipe down our table because it was full of crumbs, and I watched a fly land on some food on display, but ... that's what you get for having open doors and open display cases. I assume reheating the bread would kill anything. Maybe it makes it more authentic. I suppose centuries of people have eaten food served outdoors and we all survived. Hours later I went to a birthday party where I was STILL talking about this place and sent the link to all of my friends. Highly recommend. read more

Such an amazing place for some focaccia-style pizza. You can heat up the pizza in the oven and it comes out perfect with the bottom just slightly crispy. The flavors are delicious with some great varieties and options. I really like the margherita but my favorite is the one with the pancetta, although I keep coming back for that one and I never see it there anymore, so maybe it's a seasonal one. (Bring it back!) There was a lot I wanted to try, but I limited myself to two slices of their pizzas. - Capricciosa $7 (one of their most popular ones - mushrooms, olives, artichoke, mozzarella, and ham) - San Daniele $7.50 (this might be a seasonal one as its not listed on their website - had prosciutto and arugula) Checking in on the Yelp app, I received a free piece of their focaccia bread which he cut in two pieces for me. I would love to come back here for their aperitivo (happy hour) which is held from 4-6:30pm. I find that this place is great for a quick bite, grab n' go, and dining in for the cool atmosphere. There are a few two person tables which could be combined together for a larger group and a few bar tables along the wall which is good for two people, along with a few cute tables for outside dining which I'd love to see more of in the state of California. How does this place not have a solid five-star average? Absolutely amazing food. This was my first visit to a full-blown focaceria. I will definitely be back. I was a little leery at first as I typically eat thin crust pizza. But this is not pizza. This is the freshest most flavorful pizza-like thing I have ever eaten. I ordered only vegetarian focaccia, but the others looked amazing too. I'm not a vegetarian, but I was just in the mood for no meat tonight. Okay, it really is all about their pizza. Unfortunately, I ordered more than just their pizza and what I ordered wasn't that great, hence the 3 stars. I didn't have any concerns or issues with the slice I ordered. It was above average and I can see why people like it. 4 stars for their pizza. Cannolli: this was a dissapointment. I ate it right away and it was pretty runny with really hard chocolate chips. The shell didn't taste fresh. 2 stars. Lasagna: Super salty. Like overpowering so. It would have been a 5 star Lasagna dish if they didn't add so much salt and maybe added more meat. The balsamic vinegar dressing is super sour and way too thick. I have stopped by here twice now and it is a perfect stop for a quick lunch. I did not know the true meaning of a spizzicheria, until I did some more researching. My first time I tried a slice warmed up, I was surprised by the thickness of the crust, almost like a focaccia but melt in your mouth type of way with the cheese oozing. I have always gotten the capricciosa. I am not sure what cheese is used here with the artichokes, ham, and mushrooms, but it is melty and delicious (reminds me of warm brie). The slices always taste fresh, just wish there was a little more garlic/pepper or fresh herbs and more choices with slices that include meat. It is about a 5 min wait in house to get the slice warmed up and very filling for a lunch. The host is always friendly. I think offering water with lemon or a drink would improve the experience, I normally just wait but I'd be happy to purchase a glass of wine or just even sip water, hospitality wise. This place makes me feel like visiting Italy again. Worth trying. read more

Space is limited, with a few tables indoors and a few tables outside. Owners are Italian and are from the Mint restaurants that you can find in Walnut Creek or SF. This is large focaccia style pizza loaded with toppings. 2 slices were more than enough. They heated them up, cut 'em up so we could share and it was perfection. They do have a few limited other items on the menu, but you seemingly come here for the pizza. The vegano without cheese was my favorite - how dare I, you ask... no cheese?! But those roasted veggies were perfection. The zucchini and fontina cheese was a very close second. They do free little bites at happy hour with a drink as they do in Italy. I've been coming here since the first opening, and it was easily my favorite focaccia and the closest to Italy I had found. Being both Italian and Peruvian I was excited to see the change in ownership, but after giving the focaccia another try it definitely has changed for the worse. The tartufa and the genovese were both bland and airy. It seems like the quality of the ingredients has gone down and the recipes were tweaked potentially to save on olive oil (?). My recommendation: return to the original focaccia recipes & ingredients no matter how cost ineffective, and feel free to explore with different flavors and menu items but don't try to fix what isn't broken. I'll give the Peruvian food a try the next time, but I would not return for the focaccia unless I hear that it's back to how it was. Located on College and Alcatraz this is The Best local Italian/Peruvian place in town - they have a variety of focaccia pizza that regulars say is the best in the world. The crust is perfect, light and flaky and crispy on the edges with great toppings. Try them all! The owners - Melissa and her father Pepe - are now adding Peruvian dishes (they are Peruvian Italian Chinese!) to the menu - the rotisserie chicken is a Peruvian classic and is fabulous - especially with the potatoes and special sauce. Lots of great sandwiches are now making it on the menu. Try the ChiCha morada - a local Peruvian drink, for an afternoon refreshment, or any of their small but selective wines. You can eat in at this cozy spot with friends and family (kids love it!) - or do take out or cater for special events or your kids' birthday parties! We walked in here on a Sunday afternoon for a snack, which is fitting for Casa Barotti because it's technically a spizzicheria meaning "nibbling" or a place to pop in for a casual bite. We ordered a melazane slice with roasted eggplant, basil, parmigiano, mozzarella, and San Marzano tomato sauce ($6). They'll warm it up for you before serving it and even slice it in half. The dough is so light and fluffy, while also having a crisp exterior. My boyfriend was skeptical about having eggplant on pizza, but he really enjoyed it since the toppings are well put together.
