    Pork belly appetizer
    Stephanie A.

Had a really nice dinner at this place the other night. We started with their pork belly appetizer that came with the tabbouleh salad and plum sauce. Loved the tabbouleh salad but I do think the pork belly needed to cook a bit longer to make it crispier. We also ordered their steak frites with pommes frites and aioli. The hangar steak cooked to medium rare perfection, so tender with delicious bordelaise sauce and red wine compound butter. Their mussels were so fresh and came with some yummy broth and three pieces of bread. So, I highly recommend these two main courses and probably will not hesitate to reorder for my next visit $25 for corkage fee as we brought in our special Dom Perignon. Service was great and attentive. The ambiance was romantic so it's a great place to have a date night.

My wife and I dined at À Côté on a Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m. without a reservation and were seated right away on the back patio. The space had a cozy vibe and is perfect for dining on a warm summer day. On cooler evenings, there are overhead heaters to make sure you stay warm. Between the two of us, we shared a few dishes, starting with the burrata appetizer. The burrata was creamy and paired beautifully with the Early Girl tomatoes. I really liked how the crostini were sliced unusually long -- it made them easy to top with cheese and tomatoes without everything sliding off. We took advantage of their Mussels and Pommes Frites happy hour special, which includes two glasses of wine or beer. The mussels were solid. Out of the entire bowl, I only came across one mussel that was a little sandy, which isn't bad at all. The broth was light, but packed with flavor, and I appreciated that they offered more bread to help soak it all up. As for the fries, these could've been better. They leaned soft and slightly soggy, and most were short and stubby, like broken ends. The aioli on the side was nice and thick, but could've used a touch more salt or acidity. Next came the Grilled Hanger Steak, cooked a perfect medium rare. I wasn't a big fan of the baby potatoes -- they were soft throughout, and I tend to prefer mine with a bit more crisp or texture. The squash blossom pesto was visually interesting, with vibrant orange flecks I hadn't seen before, but the dish could've benefited from a sprinkling of finishing salt. The steak itself was tender and flavorful. To finish, we shared the vanilla bean crème brûlée, which delivered on texture and richness. You can tell they used real vanilla bean from the black specks settling at the bottom. Cracking through the caramelized sugar top is always satisfying. The chewy almond cookie on the side was a nice touch, though the sweetness of both did compete a bit. Service throughout the meal was excellent. Our server paced everything thoughtfully -- bringing out the mussels only after we'd finished our starter, and checking in on us multiple times. At $151 with an 18% tip, it felt like the right price point for a mid-week, casual date night, especially with a glass of wine per person included. I would definitely return, especially for the mussels during happy hour and that patio atmosphere.

Delicious!! The food was amazing and the service was great! We sat at the community table and the restaurant had fun vibes and the food was amazing! One of the best khachipuri I've had!

We were seated on the heated patio in the back. Very New York City vibes here. The walk to the back patio was maybe 300 feet. It's a trek. Cool spot. While the patio is heated our table was not under a heater- with it being early March we kept our coats on. So be aware that not every table has a direct heater. Server was knowledgeable on both the wine list and the dinner menu. Despite a large birthday party going on next to us the service was mostly very prompt. How do I know it was a birthday going on next to us you may ask? Well, they sang happy birthday. Twice. So naturally we joined in for both renditions. The food is French themed while not being fully French. The potato leek soup was lovely and light. The salads were well composed. I had the fried chicken with hot honey for my main (although I did not get a picture) and it was quite delicious. The crème brûlée was also delicious- albeit not the standard shape or height one has come to expect from this classic standard. See pictures. Overall great experience. I'd say I will be back but I live 300 miles away so hard to know for sure. The place was packed while the restaurant next door was pretty empty. Clearly a popular place. There is no parking so you have to find something on the street and likely walk a bit.

Nice outdoor patio environment. Loved the steak and mussels and frites happy hour special. The chopped salad was really fresh and good. The house wine was okay. The butter tart with vanilla gelato was delicious. Service was good but the bus lady kept clearing plates before we were actually done which made us feel rushed. Server was great though.

Everything here is fire. Personal favorite was the Mussels (not pictured) but the ceviche was also delicious. The pollo was cooked to perfection-- great crisp on the skin and the house made ranch and hot honey were a great compliment. The steak here is always delicious but that Gratin was to die for. Service was also phenomenal, our server "Tino" provided great recommendations. 10/10

Made dinner reservations for 6:30pm on a Wednesday evening. It took a while for the server to come and take our order but she made sure to check-in on us throughout the meal. Started with the happy hour special - mussels and pomme frites with two glasses of wine (we chose one white and one red. My partner enjoyed the white wine more than the red since it was crispier in taste. Mussels were good and the sauce was yummy! Fries were crispy and went well with the mussels. We also tried the Peach and prosciutto flatbread, which had a nice contrast of sweet and savory. Lastly, we got the scallops with gnocchi; scallops cooked to perfection and gnocchi was soft and pillowy with a delicious sauce. Ambiance is lovely with dim lighting throughout the restaurant. Highly recommend the food as everything we tried was great!

We had the Seared Scallops with Yukon gold potato puree, Jimmy Nardello pepper relish, and nasturtium. A nice entree with delicate flavorings. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I could see myself coming back soon.

The mushroom croquettes were flavorful, though the mojo verde could've used a little more acidity. The patatas bravas/aoli were perfectly crispy outside and soft inside with great sauces. We also enjoyed the shrimp and onion fritter (buñuelos) and the lamb sliders (hamburguesa), where the mint paired really nicely with the richness of the lamb. The broccolini (bimi) was the only miss for us. It needed a bit more time on the grill and some salt since it came across bland. Service was good and balanced. Back then, it was located on the main floor of a hotel on Geary St. in the heart of Union Square, back when downtown SF was a bustling and busy epicenter of the most beautiful cities in the world. From there, I went back for all my special occasions: anniversaries, birthdays, celebrations. One day, the lease was up, and you found your new permanent home in Oakland. The vibes and atmosphere changed, but the food remained just as iconic. Unfortunately, it was now at least 1 hour commute for me by public transportation, so I stopped going consistently. Now, you are closing your doors after 30 years of serving your vegan community. Some say that it is another casualty of the decline of veganism. Some say that it was inevitable. But I say, give me a list of restaurants in the Bay Area that have survived 30+ years, even with a cross-bay relocation. And ESPECIALLY for a vegan restaurant. I call that a success. I went for the last time this week and ordered the 5-course chef's tasting menu PLUS 2 additional appetizers. As expected, everything was absolutely delicious. Those crusted fried mushroom appetizers are so divine. The BBQ Tempeh melted in your mouth. I will miss it all so. There have been too many times in recent years when my favorite vegan restaurant announces its closure, and I've been heartbroken one too many times. Wishing the staff of Millennium all the best and that this isn't the final chapter. The flavors are AMAZING and so unique...Top 3 Standouts were the Duck with grilled ramps and papaya (seriously best duck I've ever had), the Kanpachi Crudo with habanero (I was scared of this but they totally tamped down the heat with carrots and pineapple and added sunflower seeds for crunch), and the flan which was impossibly THIK and smooth (best flan I've ever had hands down). Also really enjoyed the made-in-house guava sorbet and pavlova (which tasted like crispy honeycomb). Super relaxed atmosphere with friendly, unpretentious service. The only down side was that it WAS fine dining so each dish is extremely small and it does take a long time between courses. I did the tasting menu with the wine pairing, and what stood out to me most was how thoughtful the experience felt overall. The first dish -- roasted eggplant -- surprised me because I don't usually eat eggplant, but it was actually really good. There was a garlic yogurt that brought everything together perfectly. As the meal went on, some of the dishes actually got better as I kept eating them, especially with the pairings. The cod was one of those -- not my favorite at first bite, but by the end, it completely made sense. The duck was the standout. The crust on it was incredible, and the meat just melted in your mouth. They even changed my pairing for that course, which I really appreciated -- it showed they were paying attention. Dessert was good, just not my favorite since I'm not big on chocolate, but the banana element was nice and it was still a solid finish. Overall, this is one of those places where it's really about the experience, not just the food. The food is great, but the pacing, pairings, and attention to detail are what make it worth it. I would definitely recommend trying it at least once -- and I'd come back when the menu changes.

The restaurant was packed and seating is pretty limited, so I'd highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The atmosphere is lively and energetic with casual Japanese eatery vibes, and service was friendly throughout the meal. Everything felt creative, rich in flavor, and very texture-focused. Here are the highlights: * Ankimo Mousse (monkfish liver) with sweet potato chips - Made with truffle paste, capers, and chives. Absolutely delicious. The mousse was rich and savory but surprisingly fluffy in texture -- honestly a savory girl's dream. The sweet potato chips added just enough sweetness and a snap to balance the richness of the liver. 9/10 * Bluefin Tuna & Tsubugai Sashimi Nuta - Bluefin tuna, sea snail, broccolini, and fresh wakame tossed in a sweet Kyoto yuzu miso vinaigrette. Kind of like a sashimi-seaweed salad. I really liked the vinaigrette and especially the texture of the sea snail. I'm not sure all the ingredients fully came together cohesively, but it was still enjoyable overall. 7.5/10 * Yuba (house-made tofu skin with ikura and uni) - Served as single bites on spoons. SO good. You can really taste the difference between house-made tofu skin and store-bought. It's much more delicate, creamy, and tender, with a mild soybean flavor that balanced the richness of the uni and salmon roe beautifully. The textures in this bite were incredible. 9.5/10 * Iberico Pork Jowl Skewer with miso marinade - I honestly prefer pork jowl over pork belly. The fat and meat are more integrated instead of layered, so every bite is tender, juicy, and flavorful with just the right amount of chew. So good. 9/10 * Clam & Cilantro Ramen - I've never had a ramen broth quite like this. It was slightly creamy and deeply flavored from the clams, and the cilantro added a lot of depth and freshness. The noodles had a great texture too -- chewy and bouncy. Everything worked together perfectly. 9/10 * Uni Carbonara Pasta - Pasta with parmesan, uni, and ikura. They do not skimp on the uni or roe here. Super creamy and rich with bursts of saltiness from the ikura. The texture was great, but I honestly wished it had just a tiny bit more salt to really make all the flavors pop. It was almost there for me. 7.5/10 * Desserts - We tried two desserts, including the sweet potato brûlée. Both were delicious. One had a silky panna cotta-like texture, while the sweet potato brûlée was creamy, lightly sweet, and had the perfect crackly sugar top. 9/10 Overall, such a fun meal with a lot of unique dishes and flavor combinations. There are still so many things on the menu I want to try next time. I'll definitely be back.

The black cod was flaky but I wish it was marinated a bit more with the miso for stronger flavor. I wish I did not order the spring roll or the foil wrapped salmon. The spring roll was soggy bc the filling inside was so damp and lacked seasoning & flavor. The salmon was very dry, but the mushrooms were flavorful and juicy. Definitely recommend reservations or be ready to wait at least 45 minutes. The inside is quite small, tables as well, so be ready to sit pretty close to your neighboring patrons. Very lively atmosphere that can get loud, but could also be fun!
