A tale of 2 restaurants..reasonably good, sometimes innovative food, but, served by a thoroughly uninspired, unattentive, wait-staff. Also, the place could use a little remodeling...looking a little worn around the edges. read more

This place has the best brunch in probably the whole state. I regularly order the chicken, bacon, and ranch omelette and will pay them for the recipe if they ever god forbid go out of business. Their food gets me through life read more

Never had a bad meal here...EVER! Stopped in this morning for breakfast and the only downside to this place is how popular it is. I've never come here and not had to wait...BUT, here's the rub-its WELL WORTH THE WAIT. Pancakes here are as good as or better than anywhere in a 20 mile radius. This morning my wife had the chorizo and cheddar scramble...and I know what I'm getting next time! My son and I both had pancakes...me with nice thick cut bacon and he with Taylor Ham. Not a crumb left on the plate. I love that the bread here is all homemade and that the coffee is always fresh and delicious. And even with how busy and crazy it gets here...the wait staff is always friendly. You want a great breakfast? Stop by Carver's...just be prepared to wait. read more

Carvers is the new name of Doc's Kitchen. Same excellent food, service and prices. Their breakfasts are amazing. Always check out the specials board. Seriously how can you go wrong with coconut pancakes topped with banana's and strawberrys? Or their oven roasted vegetables as a side? Even their flavored coffee's are ridiculous! Graham Cracker flavored coffee, yes please...I want some more. So if you have not been here, please go. It's becoming a staple of DaHub! In the warmer months there is outside seating. It does get busy so go early. By the way, they do serve lunch as well. Have never had it but I hear nothing but good things. They close early (3pm I think) so it's not a dinner spot. ENJOY! read more

Good food. Reasonable wait for the food once our order was taken. Wait for a table was 30 minutes on a Sunday morning. Typical for a popular place. However, the owner (?) is inattentive and could be moving more diners through the place and assisting staff. Took more than 5 minutes to have our name taken for the wait list. Busy restaurants typically don't allow a single patron to take a 4 person table or booth when they have a counter with seats and 2 person tables available. Staff was busy, but we we're never asked for refills. Took 10 minutes to get the check and pay, despite there being a bunch of people waiting for tables. Any attentive owner would be trying to help their staff and move people in and out as fast as possible. read more

My husband and I were invited here about a year ago with friends. Since then we've been back time and again. The eggs and omelets are pretty standard. The highlights are the pancakes, especially Multigrain pancakes, bread, and daily specials. The Multigrain pancakes are unlike anything that you've ever had before. They're mixed with two types of chopped nuts and some other yummy things. You can get fruit and other add-ins. Not only are they added in but then also sprinkled on top. I personally get banana - strawberry - chocolate chip EVER SINGLE TIME. The bread is all homemade there. There are about 6 or 7 varieties and they use it for the toast. I like to grab a loaf (they'll slice it for you) for the following week when I'm there. The daily specials always sound and look amaxing. My friend got it last time and said it was great (and she's picky). I'm always too busy eating my pancakes to bother. Coffee is also good and bottomless. My only wish is that they'd serve real cream and not those horrible little creamers. read more

Had one of their hungry man breakfasts. Well, you better be real hungry to finish it. The pancakes are excellent, the eggs done perfectly, the bacon crisp but not burnt. About the only thing that keeps me from giving five stars were I didn't care for the hash browns. I just didn't think they had a lot of flavor. That said, I would definitely return! read more

Fantastic and god value as always. Wife and I split the chef's omelette (yummy with smoked mozzarella) and a corn muffin, and each kid ordered one slice of French toast. Just enough to fill up and no leftovers. And our son's cranberry juice was tart without being too sweet. read more

Food and service is great. Had the special Southwest omelet. Excellent. Their muffins and homemade breads are delicious.

This place used to be called Doc's. My friends and I love coming here after the gym to load up on their omlettes and pancakes. You definitely need to show up early though because the place is always packed. Everything they make here is fresh, so you know you're getting quality food. I love the pancakes, but I wish the toppings were baked into it, instead of just piled on top of the pancakes. The omelettes are really filling so make sure you bring a big appetite if you want to try the omelettes and pancakes. read more

Yum yum yum. I love getting taylor ham sandwiches when I'm in Jersey. Came here after the flight Thursday morning at around 7:00/7:30 and there was no one here. Pretty empty. We were helped right away and given drinks and a menu. The service was quick and good. I ordered the taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich on the roll. SO good! I love taylor ham so much and this hit the spot. I also got the home fries. Those were okay, nothing special. They weren't really home fries either, though. More like chunky hash browns. Check it out. Friendly staff and good food! read more

Breakfasts at carvers are amazing if you don't mind waiting. Weekend mornings mean a guaranteed 20 minute. But it's worth it. Pancakes come in all sorts of varieties. All breakfasts come with your choice of home made bread. The multigrain raisin is unbelievable. And I don't even like raisins. Omelette are fluffy and huge. Today I'm trying lunch for the first time. read more

The best family type breakfast spot around. Maybe holds 50 people at once if that. And very much worth the 20 mins wait I waited today. They keep the people moving in and out fast. The food. Generous portions that you will not be able to finish. The food was leopard well and the staff was really on top of their games with each customer. Definitely to return. Carver's - Ultimate omelet with 1 pancake with apples and banans. Awesome - Diners Near Me - Denville, New Jersey

My husband and I had breakfast at Carver's on Saturday, July 25 thanks to fellow Yelpers. It is a small cafe type restaurant on a side street, with on street parking. Although they were busy, we were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. There were several menu board specials and a noticed that they have Gluten Free pancakes available (although neither of us ordered them, I thought this was worth noting because my husband spoke so favorably of their regular ones). I ordered the special omelette from the menu board which included pepperoni, peppers, zucchini, and provolone cheeses. I opted for the oven roasted veggies (a blend of zucchini, peppers, carrots, and green beans, lightly seasoned) instead of home fries for an extra fee of $1.50????? My husband ordered pancakes with fresh blueberries (on and in the pancakes) with a side of sausage links. All omelettes come standard with home fries and a choice of four different homemade breads, including white, wheat, rye and raisin. The omelette was delicious. The oven roasted veggies were a healthy substitute for potatoes and although pretty good, I am not certain I would opt for them a second time (an addition of onion would really enhance them). My husband said the bread was very good and we both agreed that the coffee was excellent. My husband said that his pancakes were delicious and tender. He ate them with no syrup, just the blueberries. We both thought the sausages were delicious, moist, and nicely browned with a subtle sage flavor. The tab was just shy of $29.00 + tip. The service was pretty good and we were in and out in about 40 minutes, which may be important because the street parking is "one hour" parking. If you're in the vicinity of Denville, give it a try. It exceeded my expectations and the breakfast we enjoyed would compete with the best diner breakfasts in NJ (as a former NJ resident, I have eaten breakfast at many). I wish I had a place like it where I live now. read more

Recommended by a friend... so came here to try... I do like the decoration of the place... and when i was waiting to be seated, i was able to chat with another frequent comer who told me that whatever you order won't go wrong in this place... we ordered their corn beef hash and french toast... they were very very good... next time we will try their famous pancake... the only commend i do have is when you first walk in... they don't really wait on you or let you know that they will be right with you... i stood there for maybe 10 with other people and no one came and acknowledge us... i guess they were busy at that time... and the frequent comer said that this never happened... so i guess i just catch them at a bad time... but i do want to try their pancake... so we will be back... read more

Great service! The food is delicious and good portions. Recommend for a delicious breakfast!

Visiting from Miami, and I have to say, if you're looking for good food with great taste, Carver's is the place to go. Absolutely loved the Chorizo breakfast special. I will discuss the many good experiences my fiancé and I have had at Carver's restaurant. All the food seems homemade and very creative. The French toast is very good but the pancakes are absolutely delicious! Warning, the pancakes are huge. The place is small and gets packed quickly even on weekdays. Parking is not the most convenient. This is our favorite place to eat breakfast but we go there probably once a month due to the distance from our house ( 20-25 min drive). If you are hungry and want a guaranteed rememberable breakfast, this is the place. I haven't tried their lunch yet because I can't make it past their breakfast menu, but one of these days I'm going to try the lunch. read more

I went here after a doctor appointment and was on crutches, I was able to get around just fine and noticed a ramp to get inside. Things you notice when you are depending on crutches. I was here with my mom, who has been here before. Both meals came out great. Home fries were perfectly crispy! (But not too crispy!) I'm currently not eating gluten, but my mother said how wonderful the bread is! She says definitely try to rye! They make it there! They are open 7 day! Perfect for brunch with a friend! read more

My favorite meal of the day is breakfast and this place hit the spot! I really like the small town feel of this place. I'm all about supporting small businesses. When you go you may need to share a big table with other people, which I don't mind becasue once again it gives you that home town /family feel! Now onto the food! They have a specials board may I add that everything on it sounded amazing . The menu is perfect.. eggs, omelets ,pancakes and French toast! I love that I could order 1,2,3 pancakes! Bonus..I was able to pick what I wanted in them ! So I got to pick how many and what to put in!! This made me so Happy! My husband and I ordered the special Apple cinnamon French toast with cinnamon butter, pancakes with banana and walnuts, bacon and home fries. This place is a home run! The special of the day was amazing! Wow, it tasted like homeade apple pie. The pancakes were huge ! Everything we had was made from scratch and delicious! This little place is a home run for us! Prices are great becasue you can spend howmuch You want! If your looking to save a little $ order 1 or 2 pancakes ! Same with the French toast. The special of the day was only $7.80 for 2 big pieces of French toast ! Free refills on tea and coffee, and oh yeah the tea is not served in a tiny cup! Another bonus! read more

Terrible experience today. My husband and I went here for breakfast on a Sunday - there was a little bit of a wait, but not too bad. I got the scrambled eggs with roasted veggies and the homemade multigrain toast and my husband got the scrambled eggs and hash. Everything was great! The homemade hash, roasted veggies, and toast were very good! Only reason we docked a star was the service - it took twenty minutes to get our check. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal and definitely return. $18 dollars for breakfast for 2 is a great deal! read more

Bottom line...service was very poor today! I'd be surprised if this is a unique situation, but service at lunch today was miserable. The male server was more worried about his gf/bf/game on his cell phone behind the counter than checking with customers. I was there for an hour and he didn't once visit asking how the food was, or refill drinks. In order to get the check I had to go up to the counter. Its a shame... However, as always, the food is VERY good. so hopefully the next time i visit, i'll be able to update this review to a higher set of stars! read more

I've got to write a mixed review here...the food was good, made quick and tasty. I had the hearty pancake breakfast with blueberries in the cake. They had Taylor ham on the menu and I asked what it was and the guy says, "you're not from around here" with a grin. I tell him no and he tells me it's a local thing and gives me a split order of the ham and some sausage to play it safe. As I waited for breakfast I googled this ham and was a little leery, but I kept an open mind. When it came out it was a little crispy, salty, and all that ham wants to be. I'm definitely a fan. The pancakes were not award winning, per the menu, but had a good amount of berries and soaked up the syrup well. So you may say, why only 3 stars? Well, as I walked in the sign says please wait to be seated. I make eye contact with the waitress and she looks away and goes back to talking to a couple at one of the booths. I continue to stand there like a schmuck when the guy behind the counter finally sees she isn't doing her job and asks how many and I tell him one. He seats me, and takes my order and all is good. But when the next couple of customers comes in, the waitress is Johnny on the spot to seat them and take their orders, so it pissed me off that she made a conscious effort to not take care of me...because I'm not a local, don't look like a local, or just don't give off the right attitude to be seated I will never know. **Update - I was contacted by the manager and offered apologies in regards to this. I will be giving them another chance in the future.** In all, fair place to go if you're a local, I hope they take care of them better than a visitor to the area. Oh, and price to value was spot on, just shy of 15 bucks (tip included) for a breakfast that will keep me going the rest of the day. read more

My favorite brunch place of all time!! Amazing quality, healthy, and generous portions is the name of the game here. Their whole wheat pancakes with sliced bananas and chocolate chips are my favorite in this establishment. Corned beef hash is my favorite side. Staff is very friendly and will serve you to the best of their abilities. There is plentiful of parking in front of the place. It's not the biggest restaurant so you may have to wait in line for a little. But I assure you that it is worth the wait and you'll leave satisfied. 5 stars baby! read more

Home fries, breakfast sausage, and eggs. I can live off of this stuff. Seriously. Apparently, I hear that the place changed it's name from Doc's to Carvers but there's no difference in terms of food, interior, or service. I personally thought it sounded cooler as Doc's. Carver's has that homey diner feel without the sticky tables so I was very happy. Casual service, tasty food, and reasonable prices. They bake their own bread and I hear its fantastic from the locals. I had it as french toast and it was delicious. Real maple syrup too! Cute place. Worth a stop-in for breakfast and lunch. read more

The food was decent but overpriced for what you get. I ordered a side of bacon ($3.45) and got only 4 pieces which is a rip off. The waitress (Annette) had an attitude the whole time and messed up the order. She also never came to check up on us during our time eating. The prices are more expensive than average and any other restaurant is a way better value. There is a $3 sharing fee if you share a plate which is absolutely ridiculous.
