It's time to dine! Headed over to Ridgedale Lunch, an appropriately named eatery within walking distance of our job site. Interior is warm and cozy, and the server is friendly. Good signs! The parking lot fills up quickly, and I can hear them taking takeout orders on the phone, also excellent signs. I love eating at a place that's packed by locals! Went with the specials, which today was spaghetti and meatballs. Bottles of soda available. Food came out reasonably quickly, our server was attentive without being obtrusive or overbearing, and friendly. Very good vibe to sit for a quick lunch with some simple comfort food, no frills. Sat on the bar,I've ordered blueberry pancakes and 2 eggs sunnyside up with home fries, the guy on the griddle made the pancake and plate it then added handful blueberries and served it,the cook avoided the eye contact with me while serving my plate but I stared the plate and tried to figure out what the hell is this??? I ordered a blueberry pancakes this guy served me a pancakes with blueberries!!! The worst part is that he looked into my eyes and he said sorry man! We've lived in this area for about 5 years and only today had the chance to get breakfast here. Friendly local atmosphere. My wife and I had two of their breakfast platters. She had two eggs with bacon and I had the French toast with sausage and two sunny side up eggs. Went to the Morris Museum and saw the Lego "Art of the Brick" exhibit. Really cool. We stopped by this local restaurant and it is a wonderful local place. The patrons are regulars because I hear the waitress asking them, "the usual" to which the patrons almost always nod their heads. Both hubby and I were tired and wanted to stay away from all carbs, hence, my favorite pancakes were not going to be ordered. Sissh. Anyway, the burgers come in two ways, regular or deluxe. I just ordered a regular cheese burger, medium. Hubby ordered a plain burger. Now the deluxe comes complete with fries, lettuce, tomatoes and a pickle. I wasn't ravenous so I ordered the regular. The prices are very nice. Both of our dishes were about $6-$5 each. If you want a deluxe, add in about $2. Place is very clean and super friendly. They also have sandwiches and soups of hte day, but my heart just wasn't in it. Maybe next time. Next restaurant. :-) read more

Great little breakfast hole in the wall. The menu is tiny. Just a few omelettes, egg sandwiches, and pancakes. But, the prices are low and the place looks clean. The Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich (a NJ staple) is one of the best I've ever had. Taylor ham was perfectly crispy and the eggs were not over cooked or dry. The ham and cheese omelette was not as remarkable but the potatoes on the side were very tasty. I usually try to avoid carbs but these were hard to resist. Definitely worth another visit. read more

Stopped at the Ridgedale Lunch (Cafe) for a late breakfast after a quick early morning business meeting. Sat at the counter which is what I wanted to do. Ordered one of my FAV sandwiches on a roll; two eggs done well, bacon, taylor ham, cheese, all with coffee of course. Coffee placed in front of me within seconds. Sandwich followed shortly thereafter. Coffee is the best I've tasted! Sandwich was cooked with care by the owner in front of me and was great. The roll was lightly toasted and all the ingredients were prepared well. My coffee cup was refilled twice without asking. Ridgedale Lunch will now be my new go-to breakfast place if I'm in the area. A local gem! The owner is a very nice man, always chats it up with his patrons while working that grill. The food never fails. Again, good local gem. The famous Reuben is an enormous sloppy sandwich of thinly sliced & griddled beef, sauerkraut, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese piled on pretty good rye bread. Comes with a pickle and a side of coleslaw. Huge! Two lunches for me easy, astonishing value at just $7. My only quibble is that the beef is not particularly corny, it doesn't have that coarse texture I expected, instead it's more like roast beef. But it sure is a great lunch. I came in just before 8 on a Saturday morning. The owner was working the grill, but that didn't stop him from throwing out a friendly greeting. I took a seat and ordered my Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a roll. It came out quick, was bigger than most, and delicious. The service was good, except when the ten-year-old that was helping out took my plate as I was literally taking a bite of food. Oh well, it was my last bite anyway, and you don't go to the Ridgeline Lunch expecting a white tablecloth. Also, the kid kept my coffee full. Prices were reasonable. I think I paid about $6.50 for my sandwich and a coffee. Despite being busy with both dine-in and takeout orders, everybody kept the place running like a well-oiled machine. read more

If you're looking for a filling and inexpensive meal that doesn't skimp on the quality, RIdgedale Lunch is the place to go. Despite their odd hours, I go out of my way to get in here when I can. Expect to be greeted and checked in on several times throughout your meal by the owner Chris. He goes out of his way to speak to and get to know all of his customers, and he never forgets a face. Its a much appreciated touch, and gives this lunch counter a real community feel. I wanted to go in and just read my Kindle while enjoying an omelet, but Chris sucked me in with his interest and enthusiasm. In addition to the atmosphere, the food is classic stuff. I usually have breakfast here, and I have to second everyone's touting of the breakfast potatoes. They're crispy, flavorful, and provide the perfect side dish to a variety of menu items. Particularly memorable was the ham and cheese omelet, which was enormous beyond my expectations. The eggs were fluffy and and it was bursting with ham and oozing cheese in the best way possible (is there even a bad way to ooze cheese?). Previous reviews said this was the best breakfast place in Morristown. It certainly is a "hole in the wall" type restaurant. Only about 7 tables and a counter. Probably only about 7 or 8 parking spots. The menu was very limited. I had a better than average cheese omelet, and the best [crunchy] hash browns I ever tasted. Honestly, this place is a solid 10. My boyfriend and I came here on the whim while in the neighborhood with no expectations, yet somehow we were still blown away. Everyone was extremely nice, from the lady taking our order to the guys cooking. The best pancakes I've ever had in my life, hands down. Really fluffy yet the edges still had a little bit of a crispness to them. My boyfriend got the western omelet and home fries, it was the fastest I've ever seen him eat one.
